Conditional Formatting Date Cells Based On Entry In Adjacent Cell
Jul 22, 2008I have a spreadsheet with 'due date' for returns in column L and 'received date' for returns, in the adjacent column M.
I would like to get the due date to turn red when it is overdue, ie. the date in the cell has arrived and no return was submitted. By trawlling the forum, I managed to accomplish this with the following in conditional formatting:
Cell value is less than or equal to =TODAY()
All's great.....but - I would like the date to turn back to black if I enter a date in the adjacent received column, column M.
In other words, I want to flag a problem if the due date has passed, but once I receive the return and enter the date I receive it, i would like the due date entry to revert back to the original formatting ie. black. So only the outstanding returns are highlighted.
Auto Entry Date When Enter Data?
May 28, 2014What I want to do is if I add data into B7 or F7 then the current date will appear in J7. I also don't want the date to change every time the project is opened.
Thus,
If I enter "withdraw or any word" into B7 or F7 - The current date (4-Dec) would appear in J7.
then if I close excel and I open it tomorrow, J7 would still read as 4-Dec, while if I enter "deposit or any word" into B8 or F8, the current date (5-Dec) would appear in J8.
- would need to be able to enter multiple entries on one day as well.
- also i am not familiar regarding macros.

Apr 3, 2007i try to lock cells in the area the VBA code affects. My goal is to actually have affected cells by this VBA code lock immediately after anything is entered in the affected cells. Area needing Debugging is in the If - Else portion. My worksheet will be protected.

Auto-fill That Adjusts Based On Date Entry
May 13, 2014On sheet 1, I have dates in column A, then numbers under LabA through C. On sheet 2, I would like the contents of columns B, C, D to autofill when entered. However, I would like to display only the last entry. For example, Lab A (column B) is currently showing "7" in cell B6, if I enter a number in B7, I would like for sheet 2 to autoupdate cell B3 and display that new entry instead of the "7".

Auto Populate Current Date And Time On Making Entry
Sep 18, 2013I am trying to get excel to auto populate the current date and time each time I make an entry, however, each time i make an additional entry the current date and time populates but it changes all the prior entry's with that current date and time.I am trying to keep a log of all the times I make a new entry. Efficient Entry Of Data & Automatically Have Their Price Show In Adjacent Cell
Aug 13, 2009I own a Hair Salon which collates its daily takings using a spreadsheet. A section of this takings sheet asks staff to enter which Products have been sold and what they where sold for (RRP), so that once all products have been entered, totals at the end of the day allowing the end -of-day "till-up" process to reconcile purchases and services rendered aginst cash and cheques received.
Unfortunately there is over 600 products to choose from and this evergroes as new products are introduced by manufacturers. Names are long and often very similar, and product price manual listings are slow to reference, therefore the customer has to wait while the staff find the right product and select the right price.
All of this is subject to human error. What i would like is simply to enter part of the product name into a Cell and the right product to be visibly selectable and the price automatically added to an adjacent cell.
Auto-Fill Formula When Adjacent Cell Changes
Jan 6, 2007what is prompting this formula to auto fill down when a value in an adjacent cell is entered.
In column A I enter an unformatted fax number.
In column B I use the following Text Formula:
"="("&LEFT(A20,3)&")"&MID(A20,4,3)&"-"&RIGHT(A20,4)
Someone in my office copied the workbook and now any time a value is
entered into the next available Column A cell. The cell in column B will automatically apply the above formula and format the fax number. The person who copied the workbook does not know how this is working nor does anyone else in the office.
There are no macros embedded in this workbook so no event is firing to cause this.
I have attached a small copy of the workbook called "Auto format1.xls"
How to use:
-Select cell B20 and not nothing is in it.
-Enter any 9 digits in A20 and B20 somehow
copies down the formula from B19.
how to duplicate this.

Stopping Data Entry If Adjacent 5 Cells Are Blank
Feb 10, 2009I've got six columns with drop-down lists in every cell. I don't want column six to be selectable if the first five drop downs don't have data in them too.
Equally, I want the data in column six to be undone if columnns 1-5 are then unselected. Can I do this?
I know that using data validation or VBA is an option but I'm not sure exactly how to set it up this way. I also don't want anyone screwing with what can and can't be entered according to these rules - I want to keep it watertight!

Jan 23, 2014I have a formula in my spreadsheet that shows dates for servicing of products. Column F show's Date Last Serviced and the adjacent column (G) then shows Date Next Service. When there is nothing on the F column's cell then the date that appears on my spreadsheet is 31/12/00. It looks messy and I would rather have a formula to make it so that if the F column is blank, then the adjacent cell in G column should stay blank also.
To automatically calculate the next service due date, I have variants of this formula that creates the dates in G column:
=DATE(YEAR(F4)+1,MONTH(F4),DAY(F4))
I tried adding as an extra part, for example:
=DATE(YEAR(F4)+1,MONTH(F4),DAY(F4))&If(F4 = 0, "", F4)
It always brings back the answer of 366, and does not make the cell blank...

Where AE2 is the date I am looking up. My question is this: When I put in a date ("1/12/2007") instead of AE2, i get the correct value. I tried giving AE2 and the AF column the same date formatting (3/14/2001), but this doesn't work. The date I am searching for also changes, so I cannot just type the date into the excel formula.

Jul 16, 2008I have a workbook with several sheets, each of which represents a client. At the bottom of this sheet, I have a call log to record the times that we attempted communication, left a message, etc. Since it's tedious enough as it is, I'd like to save my team 2 seconds and a slight bit of that tedium by having the date an attempt was made automatically recorded in the row where the attempt is entered.
Let's say this all takes place in A47:D47. For example, if I called the client on 7/15/08 and left a message, I would record who was called in B47, the name of the caller (me) in C47, and the result in D47. If possible, I would like to have the date of the attempt (today's date on the given day) entered in A47 upon the entry of information in B47:D47.

Apr 4, 2008how to make the data look like a table with three columns. Other than the date, it is space delimited. I have a tracking spreadsheet where Column A is populated with dates for the year. Column C contains daily values.
I don't always start entering daily values on the first day of the year, e.g., this year the first value in Column C corresponds to March 9. All values in Column C are contiguous - there are no blank cells until the value in Column A is greater than today's date code. I would like to use a formula (rather than VBA) to look down Column C and find the first non-blank entry where the value in Column A is less than or equal to today(). In this case, the formula should return the value for March 9, 2008.

VBA - Macro To Move Textbox Entry To Cell Based On Date
Dec 4, 2011I have a row of dates in row 2 (all sequential, from Nov through to June next year)
I have a row of number entries in row 3 (to correspond with the date in row 2 it was entered on).
I want to be able to add a new entry (a number) into a text box, click a macro button, which makes the text box input be moved into the cell underneath todays date (so every day the cell will move one column along)
I've managed to make myself a textbox, and a macro button, but I'm stuck with how to make it all work.
