I have a spreadsheet containing a column of dates which I use as the data source for a mail merge. I need to convert the dates in this column from the format "18/02/08" to the format "18 February 2008" using Format - Date.
Problem is where the dates are missing the leading zero, Excel will not change these e.g. 3/2/08. Converting to text first did not fix it.
I have two questions regarding date format and hope you can provide input.
1) say 01/01/2010 displays as Jan-10 and i need a new column to state it as JAN. What function should i use to achieve it?
2) i need to state the difference between first day and last day of the month. What function should i use to achieve it?
I am working on a sheet right now where I want to put the day a certain number of days in the future but I want to skip only Holidays, or days in a list on another part of the sheet, but count the weekend days.
All the formulas and post I have read is about someone wanting to skip weekends too. I did find a workdays formula where you and pick what you want to be considered as the weekend but I just want to skip holidays.
Example:
Day is Dec-31-2013 7 days in the future is Jan-7-2014
I want it to be since Jan 1 is a Holiday the answer will be Jan-8-2014
I am trying to display the number of network days ( Mon - Fri) from start to finish in a colour format
I have got so far with a spredsheet which is shown in table 1.
On table 2, I have shown what I would like to happen but I am baffled by what formula / conditional formatting is required.
I am very new to Excel. The date is in column B as Tuesday, 29 April 2014, but I need to format the spreadsheet in such a way that every day of the week is a different colour e.g. Tuesdays are Blue, Wednesdays will automatically turn pink etc. how will I do that?

I tried reformating the cell for date only, and it displays only the date, however, the time information is still stored, and I can't get it to do the count. Is there a way to count the date regardless of the time?

I then need to add either days, months or years onto it.
Say the above date/time is in cell A1, when I do =YEAR(A1)+5 it displays 2012 if I choose the general cell format, but when I select the same cell format (date time) it comes out as 04/07/1905 00:00
I have spent too many hours Googling and trial with mostly error in attempting this. I formatted the very first cell A1 for today's date =TODAY(); this is also dirrectly above the column with all the dates in it. I just want an entire row's contents to turn red if it is 15 days old or older. This =$A1<TODAY()-15 somewhat works, but it only turns the date cell red, not the whole row. It also makes blank cells turns red, which I would like to remain blank (another formula is needed I imagine).

A course consists of 60 LU*. The course can occur i. e. three times a week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday. In each day the course lasts 2 LU, which means 6 LU each week. There is no course on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and on holidays. Therefore this type of course that begins on 18-Nov-2013 will end on 03-Feb-2014.
Another course which occurs Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and respectively has 2 LU on Tuesday, 2 LU on Thursday and 3 LU on Saturday and starts on 03-Dec-2013 will end on 06-Feb-2014.
Therefore I want to create a worksheet where I set the start date, choose the days and respectively the LU amount on those days. The end date shall be calculated according to these criteria.
The workday function on excel cannot do this and I do not have any programming skills to work with VBA.

My reference cells (start and end date) are in Sheet 1 while the destination cell range are in Sheet 2. The reason for creating a macro instead of a function is that the intervals between the start date and end date changes frequently (annual, semi-annual and quarterly) Best case scenario would be a button which I can just press after i input the dates to generate the range of dates in another sheet.

I am using ="cell containing futuredate"-today() and it gets me the correct number of days. The problem comes in when I have yet to populate the future dates. I am getting -39991 (numeric value between today and jan 01 01) and because I am also using conditional formatting this is even more of a problem. Is there a way get excel to display nothing if it is a negative number? or to give a specified resut if the number becomes negative such as Expired or something of that nature?

The spreadsheet is setup so that if the month is changed in a specified cell, then the dates of that month auto fill down a specified column. I would like Saturday's and Sunday's to be a certain color without having to manually color fill them every time the month is changed.
Is there a formula or macro for this. I have tried setting up conditional formatting but I don't know how to get the color to follow Sat&Sun. I have attached the spreadsheet.

I need to create a formula that states a delivery date when the order date is entered in an adjacent column. Items ordered on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will be delivered the Friday of the following week, eg. ordered 23rd April 2008, delivered on the 2nd of May 2008. I tried to filter using DATE FILTERS->EQUALS and in the custom filter window, I chose EQUALS then picked a date from the date picker icon. The date I picked was 5/4/2009 (this is May 4, 2009, formatted automaticall by excel as m/d/yyyy).
When I clicked OK, nothing showed up despite the fact that there are 6 occurences of May 4, 2009 (formatted as dd-mmm-yyyy in the data table)

1. Is this due to the formatting?
2. Is there a way to change the date format supplied by the date picker?

This column also contains texts (non-dates) and these need to be left alone.

My system is set to UK and short date is set to: DD/MM/YYYY
When I used code to add the values in the userform to the spreadsheet, any that contained a date format would revert to the US format.
So I finally figured out to use DateValue to format it correctly for example: ...
