I am very new to Excel. The date is in column B as Tuesday, 29 April 2014, but I need to format the spreadsheet in such a way that every day of the week is a different colour e.g. Tuesdays are Blue, Wednesdays will automatically turn pink etc. how will I do that?
View 2 RepliesI have a Timesheet where I am trying to get Saturday and Sunday to auto fill with a certain color whenever the month is changed. The spreadsheet is setup so that if the month is changed in a specified cell, then the dates of that month auto fill down a specified column. I would like Saturday's and Sunday's to be a certain color without having to manually color fill them every time the month is changed.
Is there a formula or macro for this. I have tried setting up conditional formatting but I don't know how to get the color to follow Sat&Sun. I have attached the spreadsheet.
Within a user entered range of two dates, I would like to identify the individual calendar date(s) and count the number of Mondays which fall within the specified date range.I will eventually be using the same "Monday" code to find the same data for every day of the week within the dates ranges, but I figured I'd start with Mondays and build from there.
For Example: Date range 1/1/2013 - 1/15/2013 (date ranges could potentially encompass a full business quarter) Within the range, list each of the dates as dates. (used for comparative counting purposes elsewhere in the document)Count the number of Mons, Tues, Weds, Thurs, Fris, and Sats within the date range.Based on the example date ranges above; Mons = 2, Tues through Sats = 3 each.
I am assessing the impact of product price increases on volume (qty) and sales (£/$).
The prices are changed sporadically and at no set intervals. For example pries were changed on the 15th Jan and 13th Feb this year.
We have set reporting dates (calender months) so i am hoping to be able to divide the report which shows sales & qty's during the 15th Jan - 13th Feb segment and apportion them to the correct months.
I have the start & end dates of the calender months in cells A4:B18 and each time a new report is run (ie 15th Jan or 13th Feb, these dates go across the top i.e. cell C3 = 15th jan & D3 = 13th Feb.
I would like to return a % in cell C4 which relates to the amount of total days in the segment that relate to Jan (ie. 29 days in the segment, 16 relate to Jan so 55.2%).
Cell C5 would then return a % which relates to the amount of total days in the segment that relate to Feb (29 days in the segment, 13 relate to Feb so 44.8%).
Cells D4&D5 would return the next reporting segment and how many days in Jan/Feb respectively (the answer will be 0 but a constant formula acrosss all would be perfect. tried to give as much info as poss.
just wondering if its possible to format a cell to display date and week number and if so how to go about it

What I want in Z3 is for it to show the ddd format for the day of the week (which I have done), BUT I want it to be blank if there is nothing in Z4.
I have two questions regarding date format and hope you can provide input.
1) say 01/01/2010 displays as Jan-10 and i need a new column to state it as JAN. What function should i use to achieve it?
2) i need to state the difference between first day and last day of the month. What function should i use to achieve it?

On table 2, I have shown what I would like to happen but I am baffled by what formula / conditional formatting is required.
I have a spreadsheet containing a column of dates which I use as the data source for a mail merge. I need to convert the dates in this column from the format "18/02/08" to the format "18 February 2008" using Format - Date.
Problem is where the dates are missing the leading zero, Excel will not change these e.g. 3/2/08. Converting to text first did not fix it.
I am trying to count the number of orders written per day. I used the following formula on another sheet and it worked fine, however on this one, A8 is a date only, and F2:F2000 is a date and a time.
I tried reformating the cell for date only, and it displays only the date, however, the time information is still stored, and I can't get it to do the count. Is there a way to count the date regardless of the time?

I have some cells which must be in the format 15/06/2007 15:25
I then need to add either days, months or years onto it.
Say the above date/time is in cell A1, when I do =YEAR(A1)+5 it displays 2012 if I choose the general cell format, but when I select the same cell format (date time) it comes out as 04/07/1905 00:00
I have a time column (A) that when looked in the cell only shows AM & PM times, but the cell itself (not showing) contains dates too, keeping me from be able to do a sheet wide sort of time or time frame occurrences.
Can I do some thing to sort these cells with their corresponding rows based on time only disregarding dates?
I am trying sort out all rows that in column (A) is time equal to or greater than 4:00 PM OR even maybe sort all rows that column (A) shows a time between 4:00 PM & 7:00 PM. The date in the cell is the problem, I think. Excel 2013
I have spent too many hours Googling and trial with mostly error in attempting this. I formatted the very first cell A1 for today's date =TODAY(); this is also dirrectly above the column with all the dates in it. I just want an entire row's contents to turn red if it is 15 days old or older. This =$A1<TODAY()-15 somewhat works, but it only turns the date cell red, not the whole row. It also makes blank cells turns red, which I would like to remain blank (another formula is needed I imagine).

I thought if modified to show weeks, the macro would be able to locate the current week tab & day/date within - but upon opening, the cell stops at WK19 & column O - rather than WK43, Column N (which changes daily).

I want to calculate the end date of my German courses. This is how it works:
A course consists of 60 LU*. The course can occur i. e. three times a week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday. In each day the course lasts 2 LU, which means 6 LU each week. There is no course on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and on holidays. Therefore this type of course that begins on 18-Nov-2013 will end on 03-Feb-2014.
Another course which occurs Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and respectively has 2 LU on Tuesday, 2 LU on Thursday and 3 LU on Saturday and starts on 03-Dec-2013 will end on 06-Feb-2014.
Therefore I want to create a worksheet where I set the start date, choose the days and respectively the LU amount on those days. The end date shall be calculated according to these criteria.
The workday function on excel cannot do this and I do not have any programming skills to work with VBA.

Any 'date' or 'day' formula that will automatically insert days of the week in a column? I am attaching a sample.
I want to be able to use a drop-down menu to insert a day of the week (e.g.: Sunday) in cell B2 and have the succeeding days (Mon, Tues,Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat) populate cells C2~H2 in sequence.....
I have following data
Column A Name of the company
Column B Date
Column C Day
Column D Week of the Year
Column E High Price
Column F Low Price
My requirement is I need the average high price for the first three days of the week i.e Mon, Tue, Wed in Column I and average Low Price for the remaining days is Thu, Fri, Sat , Sun in Column J.
If in some case any day is missing then average high / Low price for the next two days is to be calculated.
I had a column of text and numbers in col A; day of the week and date (taken from a web scrape, so have no control over how they are imported), such as in the following example. Additionally i have put a column of one's beside it in col B, and then summed them in col C.

If i parse the text from the numbers, and then use a filter to remove Saturdays and Sundays, the sum total of col B will still remain the same. What i need is a method to totally delete or neglect Saturdays and Sundays so that the sum would equal 10 for example. Note that the data is updated daily, so in A1 today will be Friday 16/08/2013, but A1 tomorrow will be Saturday 17/08/2013. Also note that i have used 1's in my example, but that is just for explanation purposes, the actual data is varied.
I have just spent the last two days making this spreadsheet only to realize that weekend data is totally messing up my calculations.
How could I filter days of the week.
Although the date formatting contains the date, ie Thursday, 18 October 2007, when I try to use a contains filter it wont recognise the text of the day I want to filter.
I have a production schedule with start and finish dates for each project. To the right of this I have a matrix with "week starting" dates. What I am looking for is a formula that will indicate how many days in each week the project will take. Below are the cells filled in correctly. However, I did this manually. Any idea of a formula? I need to be able to count the number of each day that has passed so far this month. For example, so far this month the table would look like:

I don't want the count to include the current day. My data is in a workbook called "Stock Today.xls" on a sheet called "Sales" in column S.
Why does Weeknum say there are ONLY 2 days in the first week of 2011? Aren't there 7 days in a week?

=Weeknum("1-2-2011",2) = Week 1
=Weeknum("1-3-2011",2) = Week 2
(I'm assuming the first day of the week is a Monday, but I still get wacky results if I start the weeks on a Sunday.)
I have a forecast which is sorted by product code by week vertically. I need to create a lookup to re-format this information into a horizontal format by week. I have started this by transposing the information as my attachment shows but I am hoping there is a lookup formula which will be easier and quicker. I have attached the actual document and the data I want to sort is Sheet 2. I have started in Sheet 1. I want to look up the code in column A, then lookup the week number which would be B2 in Sheet 1 and return the value of that Code in that week from Sheet 1.

The type of files im working with are medication sheets where on the left it states the medication and to the right of it, the cells have the days of the month(1-31) but I need them to change depending on the day they come into our facility. Above the numbers i would also like it to say the day of week with the first initial (M, T, W, T, F, S, S) in the cells are the top. It is something that we have to make for each day it it gets really annoying and is a waste of time moving the dates over for every day. find a way where I can open the file and the numbers and letters are all in the right place without having to change it for the day that the patients are coming in.

I am trying to get a formula that will give me the number of days remaining in the week. I have a formaula for number of days until the end of the month and number of days until the end of the quarter, but just need the week.
So if the formula was run today it would show 4 as the result.

I am trying to figure out the code to filter out any Monday that is not of the current (changing) week.
This line will give me the current weeknumber
