I have a spreadsheet which is attached. I want text to be entered into column A only if there is text in column B. The text to be entered is taken from a cell in another workbook. I have removed the lin to up it to this fourm.
View 5 RepliesI have a cell in my spreadsheet that I use to control the size of a column. I formatted the cell as a number and added data validation to make sure the number is greater than zero. Then I realized that I need to also allow for the option of auto sizing the column as well. This would require a data validation list type with something like True and False for the choices.
What I want to be able to do is have it both ways. I want a drop down list in that cell with the options Auto Size or Custom. If Auto Size is selected the cell value gets set to that. If Custom is selected I then want to be able to type in a number.

Is there a way to setup a cell such that the value is either an item from the drop down list or, entered directly (depending on the list selection)?
I know I can do it with dependent lists but that would require two cells, one for the auto size mode (true/false) and the other for manual width value.

is there a formula that will find a word in a sentence written in a cell and if present then enter specif text in another cell? for example, if the word "Hotel" appears in the sentence in cell A5 then put in the text "Hotel and subsistence" in cell B5...

My question........... is it posible to have a userform where a TL would select their name (Column) and Day (Monday=Row 3, Tuesday=Row23 etc) from a dropdown and then input figures in txt boxes to submit them in the correct location?
When I click on a cell to enter text, a new little text window pops up inside the cell and doesn't allow me to enter text. No matter where I click in the cell another little text window appears. I also can't delete the text in the cell because the little text window pops up again and again.

At the moment if you double click a cell in the test type column it enters the required data and turns the cell green highlighting the length of time and values this is all good but I am wanting the ones that start with n-side to turn yellow just so that we can see our own internal tests easily. It is control in the coding not formatting . Is there a way this can be done?
I will have a spreadsheet similar to the image provided. Basically, I need the macro to go row by row down column I. If the cell in column I contains the word "Tech" I need the cells from column B to P to be shaded color1; if it contains "Update," color 2; if the cell is blank; leave the cell as is. Once the macro has done this, it will continue to the next row and to the same check.
The number of rows in the spreadsheet will change on a day-to-day basis depending on the data that's pulled, but the columns should remain the same.
So I think I have the shading part. This is what I have so far. I'm not sure if this is the most efficient way of coding it, but it kinda works. I guess another problem would be if in the future the column with this info (column I) changes and shifts.
I want to enter the word 'Closed' in cell B1 when the due date in cell A1 is exceeded by 272 days. I have tried using conditional formatting and excel accepts the formula but nothing seems to happen. Here is what I have tried;

"A" in cell A1, B in B1, "C" in C1, "D" in D1, "E" in E1 and "F" in F1.
There are two projects.
Project 1 has phase A, D & F and Project 2 has phase A, B, C, D & E.
My Specification follows...
1). Take Prject 1 - Which starts from A...in cell A2 I will keyin "A". When the phase comes to an end I will key in the end date of the phase. As soon as I key in the end date in cell A2 Letter D should automatically appear in the cell D2 and when Phase D comes to an end I will key in the end date in Cell D2 which should automatically keyin F in the cell F2. and is the same case for Project 2.
In column B I will be entering a number and I would like it to automatically enter gallons in column c when i do so. So if i enter 356 in b2 i want it to say gallons in c2.

I am looking for some macro code where I can just type in the product ID into a textbox, then hit enter (or a 'go' button) and then the cursor will move to the cell containing the part number.
I know Ctrl+F will do the job for me, but because of the frequency that I do these searches, a text input box would be easier still.

When i press say a command button " Add Repair Information" i want the User to Enter the serial number which i have given it a range called SerialN from the excel sheet and enter a repair action. The problem is, I use Data Validation and Conditional Formatting, so can't use any of these properties.
The macro recorder doesn't let me record a macro that finds text box #9, go to the end of the existing text in the text box and then add my text.
When I record the macro and go to the box, it doesn't appear in the code (as well as not working).
I have manually set all row heights to 12.75 to make sure they are the same. In these rows I have a comments box and when the end of the cell is reached I use alt&enter to continue writing underneath. Seems the comments cell has stopped re-sizing.

I have a workbook to record the attendance of students. Sheet attendance9 for September's attendance. Enter 1 for present, 0 for absent, L for late, E for early leave and blank cell for no schoolday. Sheet "remark9" is used to record detail of attendance for September. In sheet "attendance9", I want to display in cell AT2 the number of times a student absent for 7 or 14 consecutive days. How to count from E2:AH2?

If the length of the text in B6 is greater than 80, the font size for B6 only should be 8; if the length of the text in B6 is less than or equal to 80, the font size for B6 should be 10. How can I enter a number of space in the text file and yhis number is existing in other cell.
Example:

the number of spaces is given in other cells.
First space is F1 = 4
Second space is F2 = 8
and so on
I have text that when you push enter it goes to the next line and when you push tab it goes 5 spaces to the right the problem is...
When i have a lot of data it goes out of range and not all of the text is shown. I want to limit what is written to the size of the text box no matter the size or type the font is you can only type where you can see inside the textbox.
