Excel 2003 :: Lost Menu / Toolbars And Scroll Bars In All Workbooks

Nov 18, 2011

I was working on an Excel 2003 workbook with 3 worksheets. The first sheet is the 'Menu' sheet on which I placed buttons to take me to the other two sheets and back. I wanted to hide the Excel menus, toolbars, scrollbars, etc. on the 'Menu' sheet so that no user can alter that 'Menu' sheet. The 'hiding' code was not meant to affect the other two sheets.

The code worked fine. However, when I closed the workbook and tried to open a NEW workbook so that I could do some other work, I realised that the new workbook and its accompanying sheets had the menus, toolbars, scroll bars, etc. hidden. I closed the workbook and tried opening a new workbook. It was the same experience.

I called up the file with the code, deleted all the codes attached to that file, and re-saved the file. It did not solve the problem. And when I tried many more new workbooks and got the same problem, I deleted my entire Office 2003 installation and re-installed Office 2003. It still did not solve the problem.

Horizontal Bars Scroll Bars!

Mar 6, 2009

I am trying to derive the EMI for a Loan Amount and also chart a PIE graph for the same..

Instead of Manually feeding the values such as :

Variable 1 : Loan Amount : Min : Rs 50,000/- Max :Rs 5000000/-
Each Spin (1 Unit) -Rs 25000/-

Variable 2 : Interest Rate : Min : 5% Max : 30%
Each Spin (1 Unit) -0.25%

Variable 3 : Tenure/Duration : Min : 6 months Max : 30 years
Each Spin (1 Unit) - 6 months

I want to have a Scroll-Bar where the values can change Automatically but am not aware of using the same...

Can someone please help me with a small attachment with the above variables attached to it..The values drawn should be displayed as well above the Scroll-Bar and maybe can make the Min and Max more dynamic by storing it somewhere in the Sheet..

I am looking for Non-VBA solution to do the same..

Force Display Of Vertical Scroll Bars

Jul 4, 2009

I have created a form that has two textboxes on. It is used to edit existing data that is selected by a combobox on the same form.

Is there a way to force the textboxes to show scroll bars if the text exceeds the textbox height or just have them always shown?

It is difficult to distinguish on some of the data whether the data goes beyond what is visible. Without actually clicking into that textbox the scroll bars will not show.

Is this possible?

Multiple Menu Bars

Mar 2, 2008

I have some code that creates multiple new menu bars for a user which each have there own controls. I need to know which control is selected by the user for onaction. The example below is where there are up to 20 new menu bars with names Tract 1, Tract 2, etc. For each Tract, there is a controlbutton titled Absoprtion and I need to know which "Absoprtion" button was selected to run the "ViewAbsorption". I need to use th For next function because the number of menu bars could vary.

Dim objMenu As Object
Dim objViewMenu As Object

For y = x To 39
Name = "Tract" & y - 19
With Application.CommandBars("Worksheet Menu Bar").Controls
Set objMenu = .Add(Type:=msoControlPopup, temporary:=True)
objMenu.Caption = "&" & Name

Hide Standard Menu Bars

Jun 13, 2007

This is the code I use to temporarily remove menu barsfor a spreadsheet that is managed by user forms. I have code at the close of the program to replace the menu bars. The code work well although and it places a list of enabled bars in the range C1:C50 on the sheet "Bars". The range C1:C50 is not locked before the sub routine 'Hide Menus' runs. However after the sub routine 'Hide Menus' runs, the range C1:C50 is always locked and I don't understand why this is so, I would prefer it not to be.

Sub HideMenus()
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
i = 0
Worksheets("bars").Range("c1:c50").Clear
On Error Resume Next
For Each Allbars In Application. CommandBars
If Allbars.Visible = True Then
i = i + 1
With Worksheets("bars")
.Cells(i, 3) = Allbars.Name
If Allbars.Name = "Worksheet Menu Bar" Then
Allbars.Enabled = False
Else
Allbars.Visible = False
End If
End With
End If
Next
Application.DisplayFormulaBar = False
On Error Goto 0
Application.ScreenUpdating = True
Opening.Show

Macro For Form Control Button To Reset Scroll Bars To Static Column Of Numbers

May 8, 2014

I have never written or used a macro before and I have a simple macro task to complete:

I have Column L (L4:L10) of seven scroll bars that move according to number changes in column F (F4:F10). I want to create a form control command button that resets the changes on the scroll bars according to static column of numbers in Column E (E4:E10).

I don't know if it matters, but I'll add that I plan to add a second button that does the same thing with a different column of data. I assume I'll simply replicate whatever procedure I use in the first button - is this okay?

Excel 2003 :: Macro To Copy And Paste Special Values From Different Workbooks Into One Workbook

Nov 24, 2012

Copy over data from different workbooks and using paste special values to paste it into a new workbook using a macro. Here is what I have and what I am looking for:

My file path is

C:Documents and SettingsMy DocumentsProjectCostsDecember12

In this folder I have workbooks called:

Function1
Function2
Function3

In each workbook I have 4 worksheets

Cashable12-13
NonCashable12-13
Total12-13
GrandTotal12-13

I also have a workbook called DecMonthlyTotal in the same folder with the same named worksheets.

I am looking for a macro to be placed in the DecMonthlyTotal that will pull the data from the Cashable12-13 worksheets from Function1, Function2 and Function3 and paste special the values into workbook DecMonthlyTotal, worksheet name Cashable12-13, it will also pull the data from the NonCashable12-13 worksheets from Function1, Function2 and Function3 and paste special the values into workbook DecMonthlyTotal, worksheet name NonCashable12-13

Both the Cashable12-13 and the NonCashable12-13 have Columns A - G The row that the macro should start the copying from is Row 3 for each of the workbooks; however I don't have an end row for the workbooks as this will vary.

I am using Excel version 2003.

See Hidden Rows With Scroll Bar In 2003

Dec 16, 2008

I have a worksheet where rows 22 through 52 are allotted for invoice information. Now, not every job is going to have 30 invoices, and I'd like to be able to hide 25 of those rows and have a scrollbar for that section of the page so that when a) user needs to enter invoice info they can scroll to an empty row, and b) when reviewing the data user can scroll through and see it all. The rows above 22 and below 50 are job info/totals and need to remain visible.

Early attempts to solve this conundrum resulted in a scroll bar that was capable only of changing the date entered for the first invoice (Date is the info in A22, which was the linked cell).

Recovering Lost Excel Work

Jan 12, 2013

I have been working on some files in excel for several days, saving regularly, etc. but have run into a huge problem. I was marking cells with a background color to organize and track my work, but the files being saved were .csv's.

From my research, it seems that .csv's only save data, not formatting such as cell background colors.

However, while I was working on the files, they displayed the colors correctly etc.

I am hoping that there is some sort of temporary file created by excel that would allow me to re-open my work and have the coloring appear so I can save the work as an .xlsx file with formatting.

Excel 2007 :: Running Second Macro Causes Formatting To Be Lost

Feb 3, 2013

Running Windows 7, Office/Excel 2007

I have a macro which performs some conditional formatting on a worksheet. Based on the value in cells in one column, if the value meets the criteria some simple formatting is performed (row is colored, font changes for that row etc).

The macro then calls a second macro which performs the same evaluation on the same cells from the same column. If the value meets the criteria (same as previously) it is supposed to change the value of the cell by 1/2.

Both macros work, however the 2nd macro also seems to remove all of the formatting, font changes, coloring etc that occurred from the first macro. I have had the first macro save the active workbook and close and have the 2nd macro re-open the file but it sill overwrites the formatting. If I do not have the 2nd macro run the format changes are saved. I have tried saving the file after the first macro runs with .xls and .xlsx extension and no luck.

Excel 2007 :: ID Number Formatting Lost After Text To Columns Is Used

Jul 16, 2014

I have a text file that I need to open in MS Excel 2007. The file contains the following data. (Each column is delimited by the "|" character.)

Part #|Inventory ID
1743|213,221
1864|10,40
1948|1170,1180
5265|100,104,107,10004

Ultimately, I need three columns but the data needs to look the same as it did before I opened the file.

When I open the file for the first time, I use “Text to Columns” to delimit the fields by the "|" character. The problem is that the Inventory IDs in the middle column get a bit whacky.

Here's what I'm left with:
Part # Inventory ID
1743 213,221
1864 10,40
1948 11,701,180
5265 10,010,410,710,004

The comma is retained appropriately when there are two 2- or 3-digit Inventory IDs.

When a row has multiple, longer Inventory IDs or Inventory IDs that vary in length, the comma is moved to every 3rd decimal place.

I tried putting quotation marks around the data before I opened the text file for the first time but that didn’t do anything. I tried Custom Formatting to retain the comma position (0000,0000) but this only worked when I had two 4 digit IDs. I also changed the number type to Text and General. Once the comma was changed, I couldn’t figure out how to get it back.

How to best retain the format of my Inventory IDs.

Excel 2007 :: Chart Series Reference Lost On Save

Mar 17, 2009

I'm having a problem with named ranges in a chart. I'm using Excel 2007 in Windows XP.

I have a line graph with twenty different series all using dynamic ranges. I created each series individually, typing the name and then the dynamic range I had previously defined. As far as I am aware, Excel demands when writing the reference that you specify which sheet/workbook this named range is from, so, given the scopes of my ranges are all 'workbook', I added the name of the workbook to the references.

e.g.

Series name:
Series1

Series values:
='workbook name'!range1

This seems to work fine, but when I save and then re-open the file, the dynamic ranges no longer work. If I go to Select Data and look at the reference for a series, it has been changed thus:

Series values:
=[0]!range1
