Excel 2007 :: ActiveX Combobox And Shared Workbook

I have a workbook with a combo box.

ActiveX control? (=EMBED("Forms.ComboBox.1","") They are filled using named ranges on another worksheet and work fine. The problem happens when I share the workbook the combo boxes become completely non-functional. They don't even drop down when clicked.

I have a file that has an original file format .xls

I saved as .xlsx (I am using Excel 2007) with a different name so I could make changes to the new file without changing the original.

That turn off compatibility mode.... but it is still "shared". While it is shared I cannot delete a sheet. In fact, I really don't even want it to be shared. If the file is open, and someone else opens it, I want it to open as "read only". I cannot uncheck the "Allow changes by more than one user at the same time. This also allows workbook merging." checkbox because it is greyed out.

Excel 2007 :: ActiveX Controls Command Button Opening Worksheet In Same Workbook

I have a workbook with two worksheets, "Main" and "Control".

Both of them are with hidden tabs (unchecked "show sheet tabs").

On worksheet "Main" I have command button which opens worksheet "Control".

The assigned makro is: Sheets("Control").Select

The problem is: when I open "Control" and close after that the workbook, the next time when I open the workbook "Control" pops-up instead of "Main" even though I do not save it.

1. I need macro on "Main" which will allow me to open "Control".

2. Regardless I "Save" or "Don't Save" "Control" when selected and workbook is closed, to open the workbook always displaying worksheet "Main".

I use Excel 2007 (at home) & 2010 (at office).

Linking Sheets To ActiveX Combobox In Excel

I have a name list on sheet2, column A that will have names added to and removed from. Everytime this list is modified it sorts in ascending order and creates a new sheet named after the name added. These items are added to an ActiveX combo box on sheet1. I need to know how to link the item in the combo box to the corresponding sheet(ex: item: "Jim", sheet name: "Jim").

ActiveX Combobox - Linked Cell Reference Lost After Save / Close And Re-open Workbook

Using the developer tab I inserted an Active X combo box. Under properties I referenced a 'linked cell' that I want the data to appear in. This box works great as long as I keep the sheet open. Once I save and close the workbook and re-open, that reference is lost. It shows #REF! in that field. Why does it lose the reference? I have tried to reference a cell on the same sheet as well as a cell in a different sheet and it keeps the sheet name but not the individual cell.

I have a form that collects four pieces of information from the user and places each into columns A, B, C, D on a sheet. I would like to automatically add an option button to column E so that a user could select it and then click a control button to delete the corresponding row.

I'm using Excel 2007.

I'm building a spreadsheet which includes a few columns which have activex check boxes which are linked to cells. I want to allow the users of the spreadsheet to insert new rows if necessary. Ideally, when these new rows are inserted, the check boxes would also automatically appear in the corresponding columns of the new row (and be linked to the relevant cells), just the same way that pull-down menus and formulas automatically copy into the new row. Is there a way to do this?

Vba Error Run-time 429 Activex Component Can't Create Object - Excel & Outlook 2007

I have some VBA code that in one portion of it an Outlook e-mail is created and the active workbook is attached and sent. This code used to work on Excel & Outlook 2003, but now in Excel & Outlook 2007 I'm getting the error:

Run-time error '429':
ActiveX component can't create object

and is stopping on the line

FY If I comment out the Set OutApp... and If OutApp.... lines and uncomment the Set OutApp create object line, I still get the same error.

I am using excel 2002 and I have found that when the workbook is shared and getting 2 or more users to open the workbook around the same time brings up a read only type prompt box for the 2nd ( and 3rd) user when the book hasn't fully opened for the 1st user/is still fully opening. Is this a limitation within excel or is there a way around this for example via vb code.

I know the more data a workbook has can cause it open a lot slower but is this the same for shared mode.

I want to understand something, If I open it I can see all the information in it, all the rows and so on, but if the same workbook is opened by another user he will see other information, the rows aren't the same as in my case. Why does this happen ? I would like the second users to see the same information as I do.

The other day I inserted a row in a shared workbook and then saved it. On my screen, the inserted row was visible and was the correct row height of 12.75. My goal was to insert the row so another user sitting next to me could enter information in the new row.

After I saved the workbook, and after the user sitting next to me saved her workbook, the row I inserted should have appeared exactly the same on her screen, but it did not. Instead, the inserted row showed up as a hidden row on her screen. It was there, but the row height was collapsed to the point of invisibility.

I repeated my attempt to insert a row which the other user could edit several times, but each time I got the same result. I could not make the row show up on her screen with a row height of 12.75.

I am using Excel 2010. I am using a shared workbook that was originally created in Excel 2003. This workbook has a command button that is supposed to be clicked to open a userform. However, I cannot even click on the button when opening the shared form in Excel 2010. When the form is not shared, the button works fine.

I have no problems with the button when opening the shared form in 2003 or 2007.

Is there anything I can do to make the command button work while the form is shared and while using Excel 2010?

Using Excel 2010.

I've created a spreadsheet at work that has two summary tabs which contain hyperlinks to around 30 separate sheet tabs.

On each sheet tab there is a list of unique values in column A (and other information relating to each value in columns B to D which are repeated for more than one unique value). In column E, users enter a test script name against each unique value they wish to 'reserve', and the macro picks out the unique test script names and via the COUNTIF formula counts the frequency of each test script name for each of the different values in column B.

My problem is that the macro seems to work fine if the workbook is not shared, but errors if the workbook is saved as shared. The error is 'Run time error 1004 - Unable to select the MergeCells property of the Range class'.

Here is the macro code:

I currently have a password secured excel file on my departs Q drive, which everyone can access unfortunately only 1 person can edit at a time. I tried to turn it into a workbook so we could all edit it at the same time but now some of the other users can't access the file at our other buildings throughout the county. This is for excel 2010. And I did select the share workbook, and allow multiple users to edit box. everything else is unchanged.

successfully use Activex combobox on the worksheet, (excel 2003)
without the code from other boxes being triggered at random.

Or should I give this up, and use a form to house these controls? ( I have no Knowledge on this)

I've tried certain IF then statements to protect the excecutable, but it seems, that, even boxes in other books are looked at, with a simple call statement (to a macro in module)

Having a real problem in Isolating these things.

Try to get the code to activate when you select the same Item twice, It seems none of the procedures do this. I made a workaround with using two procedures, but it's a bit clumsy.

ActiveX Combobox Code-run

I've created a workbook on whose main sheet there are three activex comboboxes. The first one contains a list of years, and the second one contains a list of months. The user selects the year, and it goes to its linked cell. The user then selects a month, and using the Combobox_Click event, should run a sequence of 7 macros (i.e. using the "call updateinformation1" macro, which is the first of the seven updateinformation macros).

The sequence of macros ran fine before I added the comboboxes. After adding the comboboxes, the final (7th) macro somehow goes back to the first macro and then causes a "ClearContents method of Range class failed" error on the "Selection.ClearContents" line. These are the first and seventh macros:

The code below scans from the column on the row of the worksheet till it finds a blank, this seems to work ok as I previously had a msgbox in that displayed the value of n once the loop finished

So I was hoping that the values in the columns on that row would be added to the combobox but for some reason I get a typing missmatch error.

I have a spreadsheet in version Excel 2007 that is refreshing data from Access tables. Users are needing charts to show progress by month, but are also needing to filter by area and one to filter by a section.

What I have so far is the data being calculated using SUMIFS so that I can pull between dates. I then added two comboboxes so that the user could filter by an area and by section. This is working, except that I have not been able to figure out how to allow the user to select "All" so that they can see all data from on or both of the selections.

I have an application were I would like to use an Active X combo box instead of a regular dropdown list. The list contains 64 items and the text becomes very small in a standard dropdown list. Using an Active X Combo Box allows me to enlarge the text for easier viewing but with 64 items the list tends to run off the sheet. Is their a switch or some other way (scrolling) to make it more viewer friendly?

I am trying to use a combo box with a defined list I have in another worksheet.

I was able to name and populate the list into the combo box, but am trying to work a macro into it.

I have a large data sheet with with many columns. In this worksheet, I also placed the combo box. What I would like to do is to be able to click on a name in the combo box and have it filter Column H, where there are many data points.

For example, In column H I have Apples, Watermelons, Peaches, etc.

In the combo box list, I would like to click on Apples and Column H list only the Apple names. Then if I want to click on Watermelons, it would filter Column H to only those which have Watermelons listed...

I have 100 combo boxes on an excel sheet, they are divided in three sets (1-25, 26-50, 51-100). Each set has the same value within the set, but is different from the other.

Right now I am able to populate the combo boxes using the following code

Replacing Forms Control Combobox With ActiveX

Since Form Controls comboboxes don't allow font editing, I need to switch to ActiveX...

The combo box values come from the following cell range:

tbl_arrays!$I$3:$I$6

Those values are, from top to bottom: "select distance", "50 Miles", "100 Miles", "150 Miles".

The following macro is also assigned to the combobox:

I have two issues. The first is that the macro doesn't seem to be working. It is supposed to filter a list of cities within 50, 100 and 150 miles of a user input zip or city. The original Forms Control combo works but not ActiveX after I put the code in the change event:

[Code] .........

The second issue is that the last clicked value in the ActiveX comboBox replaces the top one.

Ex: from top to bottom, the combobox should display:

[Code] ........

but if the user clicks "100 Miles", the combobox is then going to display

[Code] ......

If the user then select "50 Miles", the box displays:

[Code] ........
