Excel 2007 :: Inserting New Rows And Automatically Including ActiveX Checkbox
Nov 30, 2012
I'm using Excel 2007.
I'm building a spreadsheet which includes a few columns which have activex check boxes which are linked to cells. I want to allow the users of the spreadsheet to insert new rows if necessary. Ideally, when these new rows are inserted, the check boxes would also automatically appear in the corresponding columns of the new row (and be linked to the relevant cells), just the same way that pull-down menus and formulas automatically copy into the new row. Is there a way to do this?
I currently have the following Macro for one of my many checkboxes in 2007 Excel:
[Code] .....
It works perfectly until additional rows are added/deleted before the indicated rows in the code (It changes the number sequence in the workbook). The number sequence stays the same in the code which means I am now hiding rows either before (delete rows) or after (insert rows) the intended rows I want to be hidden. Is there a way to change the above code to remain with the assigned rows regardless of the adding/deleting of rows before it?
I manually create a pivot table (and record my actions) the pivot table references all of the information in my data range (70k+ lines). When I run the recorded macro the new pivot table limits the data range to the first 65536 lines (the old limit)....
I have a form that collects four pieces of information from the user and places each into columns A, B, C, D on a sheet. I would like to automatically add an option button to column E so that a user could select it and then click a control button to delete the corresponding row.
Is this possible or is there maybe a better way to do this in Excel 2007.
ActiveX control? (=EMBED("Forms.ComboBox.1","") They are filled using named ranges on another worksheet and work fine. The problem happens when I share the workbook the combo boxes become completely non-functional. They don't even drop down when clicked.
Excel 2007.I have a list of postcodes (UK) which have different lengths of characters (including spaces) from 6-8, however our system seems to add additional spaces inbetween the postcode, so it could have upto 11/12 characters (inc spaces) Below is what could come out:
What I need is a formula to ensure each postcode only has 8 characters by inserting spaces between if there's less than 8 char and trimming if there's more than 8 char
So from the above postcodes the desired results would be:
EH21 6PQ - 1 Space (8 Char) - This would be correct EH12 9HG - 3 Spaces (10 Char) - Trim off 2 spaces from the middle E1 8DF - 3 Spaces (8 Char) - This would be correct LL5 1GH - 2 Spaces (8 Char) - This would be correct L5 1FG - 1 Space (6 Char) - Insert 2 spaces in the middle
I have a workbook with two worksheets, "Main" and "Control".
Both of them are with hidden tabs (unchecked "show sheet tabs").
On worksheet "Main" I have command button which opens worksheet "Control".
The assigned makro is: Sheets("Control").Select
The problem is: when I open "Control" and close after that the workbook, the next time when I open the workbook "Control" pops-up instead of "Main" even though I do not save it.
1. I need macro on "Main" which will allow me to open "Control".
2. Regardless I "Save" or "Don't Save" "Control" when selected and workbook is closed, to open the workbook always displaying worksheet "Main".
I have some VBA code that in one portion of it an Outlook e-mail is created and the active workbook is attached and sent. This code used to work on Excel & Outlook 2003, but now in Excel & Outlook 2007 I'm getting the error:
FY If I comment out the Set OutApp... and If OutApp.... lines and uncomment the Set OutApp create object line, I still get the same error.
Dim OutApp As Object Dim OutMail As Object Dim SigString As String Dim Signature As String
'Set OutApp = CreateObject("Outlook.Application") Set OutApp = GetObject(, "Outlook.Application") If OutApp Is Nothing Then Set OutApp = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
OutApp.Session.Logon Set OutMail = OutApp.CreateItem(0)
I'm trying to get a checkbox in a user form to prepopulate depending on what's in cell H5.
Here is the line of code that I need rewriting (in bold):
Sub Userform_Initialize() LabelPolicyNumber.Caption = ActiveSheet.Range("B5").Text LabelSponsorName.Caption = ActiveSheet.Range("D5").Text If Application.WorksheetFunction.IsNA(ActiveSheet.Range("H5")) = True Or ActiveSheet.Range("H5") = "" Then CheckBoxHalifax.Value = False Else CheckBoxHalifax.Value = True End Sub
H5 contains a vlookup formula, so depending on other variables it can either have a value ("Halifax"), an error (#NA) or be blank. I've
It seems Excel will only evaluate the first statement and ignore the Or statement, meaning when H5 is blank Halifax is checked off when I load the user form.
I am trying to create a workbook where the first worksheet has a list of Checkboxes and each checkbox 'unhides' or 'hides' subsequent worksheets within the workbook, depending on whether the box is checked. I can make the checkbox, I can record the macro.
Sub Test_checkbox() ' Test_checkbox Macro Sheets("Dist").Visible = True End Sub
How do I link them together? Ideally, I'd like to have my boss be able to 'play' with which sheets are visible (check, uncheck, check, uncheck, etc) .
One of my engaging tasks at work is to disable/enable general ledger accounts (accounting speak) in our Oracle ERP application using one of their forms.
In this case it would be a list of gl accounts and to the left of the gl account would be a check box that I can click.
Checked means enabled. Blank would mean disabled.
If I have a list of currently enabled gl accounts that are to be disabled (unchecked) then I have to do so one by one. I can click with the mouse on the checkbox or I can using the keyboard use the space bar followed by the down arrow key and repeat. As fun as that sounds sometimes I'm faced with dozens or hundreds at a time.
Therefore my question is can I automate this using VBA? or any other tools out there.
Using Excel Office 2007, Oracle ERP (9.5.8) I think - it's old
I've done a check box on excel (ActiveX) which then enters True or False when I tick or untick it. Is there any way which you can change the True/False words to something else?
For example, if the box was ticked it would enter "Electric" instead and "N/A" if the box was unticked?
I have a sheet with many active x check boxes already created but with visibility off. I want code that turns on the visibility, repositions, and checks certain check boxes whose name is based on values in an array named configs.
Here is the code with the problem line indicated:
[Code] ........
The repositioning and visibility work fine. I get an "object doesn't support property or method" error on the indicated line. What is the proper syntax to do this?
I am having difficulty writing code to insert a hyperlink from a command button on a userform. I have set up a worksheet to be a data base for a lot of new files which are being created on a daily basis. The userform when activated asks the user to input certain information about the new file being stored in the data base (ie file name, date created, relevant project, description, who created it, etc). I have put a command button on the userform which I would like to activate the "Insert Hyperlink" menu so the user can then navigate to the location of the file being stored and have that hyperlink stored in a cell against the file when the "Submit" button is clicked on the userform.
I have read almost every thread on inserting hyperlinks with vba but none seem related to my needs. Using Windows 7 and Excel 2007
I need my code to start at the cell that the checkbox is linked to, but I don't know how to do that.
I have several checkboxes on the same sheet. I already have the checkboxes linked to cells, I just need to know how to tell the vba to find the right place to start.
I'm trying to copy a whole bunch of tables with identical layout to a master table, so I can create a whole bunch of pivot tables that include data from ALL the various tables. The source tables MAY be filtered, and I can't work out how to copy them easily while also INCLUDING any hidden/filtered rows while at the same time leaving any filter settings on the source tables intact.
If I use something like range("Table1").Listobject.DataBodyRange.Copy then it only copies the VISIBLE rows.
But I want ALL rows to be copied to a master table.
1. I don't want to unfilter the sources tables, because users might still want the source tables to remain exactly as the user filtered them. (However, it doesn't matter if the DESTINATION list is filtered or not). I realise that I could copy the entire sheet to a temp sheet, then unfilter any tables on that sheet and THEN copy these to the master list. But wan't to know if there's a simpler way.
2. I DON'T want to use SQL to create a pivot table directly from the tables, because the tables will have further information added to them from time to time, and so if I use SQL to make a pivot directly from them, I'll have to recreate the pivot cache using that SQL query each time, which might muck up the settings in any existing pivot tables. I realise that I could use SQL to copy the data to a 'staging area', and just point the pivot table at that.
3. I can't use PowerPivot, because its not installed in this environment.
I have this worksheet with 2 buttons and 2 textboxes.the first button is named search literally to search the items inputted in the textboxes and the second button is clear which clear all the inputted items in the textboxes and the search field. I manage to code those things however I have a main problem. How am I suppose to linked a checkbox with those items?
For example I searched this particular item so the checkbox corresponding to that item must show up in the left most column of it. and if I searched multiple items those checkboxes must show up too. I am having a hard time coding and trying since I am new in vba. I also attached a sample worksheet. I am using excel 2007.
I go to last used row for column C and then go to next row column A and insert a check box and link that to same row in z column. The code which I am trying is not working.
lastcell is last used cell in column c. Say C8 (c8,c9 are merged). A to column H are merged.
[Code] .....
I dont know why i am unable to go to A10 with the above code.
and for check box i am try with macro recorder.
[Code] .....
Checkboxes are inserted with every new row. I am able to add row and merge the rows and I am struck at adding checkboxes.
A certain macro (or is it a VB script?) in an Excel 2007 spreadsheet has to be manually recalculated every time I open the file. The only way I've found to do this is to click in the formula bar and hit Enter, or else click the green check mark to accept the formula. The spreadsheet is set to recalculate automatically, so I do not understand why this is happening.
Another wrinkle is that I can't locate the specification/definition of the macro. I checked the Developer menu on the ribbon and looked in the Visual Basic and Macros lists, but could not see the definition of the macro in question. Another user created the spreadsheet but I am unable to contact him...
Using Microsoft Excel 2007 and all of a sudden, my spreadsheets are not automatically calculating the formulas. It does not matter if I have other workbooks open or not. I still get the problem. It does not happen 100% of the time to make it even more complicated.
- Calulation set to auto in Excel Options.
- No VBA functions being used. I can the worksheet summing 1 + 1 and get the error periodically. It does not have to do with the spreadsheet being too complicated.
- Even if I can hit Ctrl-Alt-F9 to force the formulas to calculate, it won't work.
I have problems inserting new rows in selected files. The files with the problems have a macro. I don't know if the problem can lie within the macro. There is no error message, it just won't insert the new row(s).
For some reason I don't seem to be able to insert any columns/rows/cells in to my excel spreadsheet. This is a problem in both basis sheets and more advanced ones.
I've been looking for a free checkbook register template that will automatically calculate the balance as you add or subtract various amounts.
I found one which seemed to be just what I wanted but once I had reached the end of the rows for the worksheet and tried to add more rows the automatic feature quit working.
I found another Checkbook Register which seemed even better than the first one as it had a notation at the end of the rows.
It said to " Insert new rows above this point" and it had the last row greyed out.
I tried adding a new row and tested it out by adding some amount but it did not continue with the automatic calculation either.
I'm new to Excel 2007... whilst I'm managing to find most things I'm used to using in 2003, I have an issue in one workbook that I can't figure out.
When I click in some single cells (not all), that cell and several below it automatically highlight as a range... left-clicking initially highlights the cell, but as you release the mouse button, the others below it also highlight.
I use Excel mainly for creating & updating simple logs, and the problem I keep running into is that when I click in a cell, it will automically select & highlight multiple cells below the one I am trying to work in. It will select anywhere from 4-5 cells up to 13. I don't know what this function is, and I don't know how to fix it. But it makes it very difficult to navigate and cut/paste or change a formula.
I use MS Excel 2007 and I was wondering if it was possible to enter data for certain things once, and have that data copied automatically every time I type the text. For example, if I type Blue Car in a cell and type 4 in the next cell, is there a way I can program Excel to enter that data every time I type Blue Car?
