Arrow keys do not move from one cell to the next. They advance the page or panel view. No spreadsheet works correctly, (new or existing) and scroll lock is not set.
View 3 RepliesHave a file that I have been coding and find when I open to a worksheet with limited access cells, the Up and Down arrows will not move vertically though Lrft and Right arrows OK though not raping arround. This problem may have been on for sometime and I haven't been back to it. Other Excel files all OK.

The work laptop I received with excel 2010 does not allow me to use the vertical arrow keys when navigating through multiple lines when editing a cell. When editing the cell and I press the up or down arrow key, instead of moving to the next line within the cell, the cursor moves to the next cell. Is there a way / an option to have this fixed?

I'm creating a small Excel RPG where the player moves the around a blank worksheet with the walls of a maze appearing as you approach them (think dark corridors, you can see only 1 cell in all directions around you).
The players current location is shown by excel setting the activecell to the players location. Currently I have four buttons labeled Up, Down, Left and Right which the player clicks to move in the desired direction.
The testers were frequently missing the four movement buttons and this would put the activecell outside of the maze next to one of the buttons. They'd have to move it back manually.
I would like for the players to move around using the arrow keys to use the activecell, as you would normally move around a sheet... but before each movement there is a procedure that check IF the player can move in the desired direction or not (cell borders used for walls), and then once they've moved there are more procedures to check for monsters treasure chests etc.
How can I make the arrow keys trigger the macros that the Up, Down, Left and Right buttons currently trigger, and not just move the activecell?
Does anyone know the VBA equivalent to using the Shift-Arrow keys on the keyboard? I am wanting a macro to do this for me. Specifically I am wanting to use Shift-Arrow Right.

When I press the right or left arrow keys, my entire screen shifts to the right or left but the cursor STAYS in the cell where it was. Likewise, when I press the up or down arrow keys the screen shifts up or down but again, the cursor remains where it was. Is there an option somewhere that I need to change?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with a spreadsheet I am working on, and I'm not sure if its something I've done, or whether its corrupted.
Basically, Column A is Hidden and not Locked in the protection tab of formatting. The other columns are Locked and not Hidden.
I used to be able to use the arrow keys to scroll through Column A, but this now doesn't seem to work. I can select the cells within column A with the mouse and I can scroll with the mouse and the scroll bars, but I can't move between the cells with the arrow keys, enter button or tab button.
Does anyone know what might be causing this, or is the workbook corrupt?
I am using Excel 2007 and I would like to move one tab to right with "Ctrl+Tab" and move one tab to the left with "Ctrl+Shift+Tab".

I am trying to use these exact keys because my mouse is setup so that leaning the scroll wheel left or right moves left or right in my tabbed applications by executing a keyboard shortcut. This works in all my applications except excel where the shortcut keys are different.
I am working on excel 2007. I have 2 spreadsheets opened and for some reason the maximum number of rows in one spreadsheet is = 1048576 and the maximum number of rows in the other spreadsheet is = 65536
I do not know why.

I have a workbook in excel 2003 which I had been running the following macros (listed below). We recently upgraded to Excel 07, and neither are working. It just now takes me all the way to the left or all the way to the right and not from cell to cell from left to right.

why my keyboard navigation keys (Tab and arrow keys) quit working after the code below executes? Other keyboard keys like alpha or numeric characters and Enter work but I can't move to another cell without clicking it. Selecting another ws, then returning to the "Master" ws fixes the problem. I tried activating Master near the end of the code but that didn't help. Master is not a protected sheet.

I had a ton of macros saved in my Personal.xlsb workbook, so I exported those modules and have now imported them to the new Personal.xlsb file. Now for some reason those macros no longer work in other files. Most of them are basic, like I have a macro to paste values or paste formats, etc. but I have some others that are very complex. The macros work fine as long as I am in Personal.xlsb, but if I try to use them in another open workbook I get the "all macros may be disabled or the macro may not be available in this workbook" message. I am using Excel 07 and have verified that macros are enabled.

The LEN function works as expected, but the ISTEXT function does not, whenever the cell contains a number and a letter. I've tested the LEN and ISTEXT functions separately, and get the same results.
Is it me, or is it Excel?
I have searched and found many examples of code that will lock cells once data has been entered. But for some reason, I cannot get it to work in my workbook. The weird thing is, I have successfully got them to work on blank workbooks. I unlock a range I want people to be able to edit, I protect the workbook, I enter the code, and it works. But I do the same thing on my workbook, nothing locks.
I've tried locking all the cells on a sheet, and only unlocking a small range, as in the examples (A1:A10), and I cant get it to work. I've tried not pre-protecting the sheet, I've tried 4 or 5 different examples of code. If it wasn't for the fact I've gotten it to work on blank workbooks, I'd think VBA was disabled or something. I can't post a copy of my workbook for you all to look at because its on a stand-alone computer at work (and the USB is disabled for info-sec).

I can see the cursor move to all the desired cells when this macro executes; it just isn't dropping any data where it should be. I have been working at this stage for the last five hours with no success. I don't know whether my copy-paste methodology is broken or if it is my selection criteria
I need to compare the 2 sheets with respect to a unique key. Once the unique key matches , I need to compare 5 other columns of the two excel sheet.
Note : There could be missing rows in either of the excel , so its necessary that we look up 2nd sheet completely to find the unique key.
For Example : In sheet 1 : The unique key is preent in column B and in Sheet 2: The unique key is present in column I. Once we locate the rows in both the sheets with the unque key matching, we would need to comapre , columns A, C, E AND F of the sheet 1 with columns A,B,C AND D of sheet 2.
We need to report if all the data matches when the unique key is same.
is there a way to change the legend keys (aesthetically) in 2010?
I created a pie chart using a template but I don't want to keep the defualt legend keys. I tried changing the theme but it appears that the legend keys that come up are the same no matter what theme I change it to.
The Chart is a 3d Pie chart, I think that matters because the regular square legend keys show when the chart isn't 3D.
I'm working on a VBA program prepared for accounting purpose. In that program i hide the excel ribbon by custom UI and also need to restrict excel's shortcut keys commands to run.

All my macros have suddenly started crashing Excel 2007 when I try to run any one of them. I can record a new macro but even that newly recorded macro will crash Excel.
Service Pack 1 was downloaded and installed by Windows Update two days ago and I had successfully run macros after SP1 was installed.
Today, it's a no go and I'm at a loss as to what may have caused this problem. I have not installed any software lately, other than the Windows updates on patch Tuesday.
