Navigation Keys Quit Working After Workshee Change Macro
Mar 25, 2004
why my keyboard navigation keys (Tab and arrow keys) quit working after the code below executes? Other keyboard keys like alpha or numeric characters and Enter work but I can't move to another cell without clicking it. Selecting another ws, then returning to the "Master" ws fixes the problem. I tried activating Master near the end of the code but that didn't help. Master is not a protected sheet.
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
If Target.Column 7 Or Target.Cells.Count > 1 Then Exit Sub
If IsEmpty(Target) Then Exit Sub
Dim NextRow As Long, MySheet As Worksheet
Set MySheet = Sheets(Target.Value)
NextRow = MySheet.Cells(Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).Row + 1
With MySheet
.Unprotect "1234"
Range(Cells(Target.Row, 1), Cells(Target.Row, 6)).Copy .Cells(NextRow, 1)
With .Cells(NextRow, 7).......................................................
I did the huge macro that names a bunch of dynamic ranges, all similar to the following: Range("=OFFSET(BD!$C$32,0,1,1,COUNT(BD!$32:$32))").Name = "ChtBDLabel"
I tested it as I went along, so I know it was working. Then I worked on several other tasks (copying the range to another location on the sheet, making graphs from the ranges). Now when I go back to run this again, I get: Run-time error '1004': method 'Range' of object '_Global' failed. I went and looked what I thought were my named ranges, and they were wrong (not dynamic, just a cell reference). I deleted them and tried again with same error.
Attached is a protected sheet. The yellow cells are unprotected. When the use is on the cell L3, and the right arrow is clicked I want it to jump to M6 and vice verser, in other words, navigate in order from left to right. Is it possiblwe to do this?
I used keypress code in one of forms, after running following command non of my keyboard is working in excel. When I am restarting excel everything is fine. what could be the reason?
Have a file that I have been coding and find when I open to a worksheet with limited access cells, the Up and Down arrows will not move vertically though Lrft and Right arrows OK though not raping arround. This problem may have been on for sometime and I haven't been back to it. Other Excel files all OK.
Arrow keys do not move from one cell to the next. They advance the page or panel view. No spreadsheet works correctly, (new or existing) and scroll lock is not set.
I am running into a problem with a macro. I have the block of code below repeated about 30x in vba. When I went to create a new list box, ie: "List Box 2", in a new sheet it is not working.. The code is the exact same, but it is not working at all.
I am using the worksheet change routine for conditional formating of more than three items.
The problem is that it only changes if I manually type within the page and does not update if the cells are updated via formulas.
To explain a little more, I have three sheets that I combine into one to help find the best rate from three companies using the following formula:
=IF(AND(MIN(PMI!C4,UG!C4,GE!C4)=PMI!C4,MIN(PMI!C4,UG!C4,GE!C4)=UG!C4,MIN(PMI!C4,UG!C4,GE!C4)=GE!C4),FIXED(PMI!C4,2)&" All",IF(AND(MIN(PMI!C4,UG!C4,GE!C4)=PMI!C4,MIN(PMI!C4,UG!C4,GE!C4)=UG!C4),FIXED(PMI!C4,2)&" PMI/UG",IF(AND(MIN(PMI!C4,UG!C4,GE!C4)=PMI!C4,MIN(PMI!C4,UG!C4,GE!C4)=GE!C4),FIXED(PMI!C4,2)&" PMI/GE",IF(AND(MIN(PMI!C4,UG!C4,UG!C4)=GE!C4,MIN(PMI!C4,UG!C4,GE!C4)=GE!C4),FIXED(UG!C4,2)&" GE/UG",IF(MIN(PMI!C4,UG!C4,GE!C4)=PMI!C4,FIXED(PMI!C4,2)&" PMI",IF(MIN(PMI!C4,UG!C4,GE!C4)=UG!C4,FIXED(UG!C4,2)&" UG",IF(MIN(PMI!C4,UG!C4,GE!C4)=GE!C4,FIXED(GE!C4,2)&" GE","ERROR"))))))) Please feel free to condense this if you like.
So when I update a reference on one of the first three sheets, the cells update on this sheet but the cell colors never change. This is the code for the worksheet change
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
Dim Cel1 As Range Dim Rng1 As Range
On Error Resume Next Set Rng1 = ActiveSheet.Cells.SpecialCells(xlCellTypeFormulas, 1) On Error GoTo 0
The following macro works when I run using Alt+F8+Enter The macro also works when it is linked to a button on the worksheet. However, it does not work when I try to use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+P. I've tried adding the shortcut key code into the macro -- still doesn't work. I've tried changing the shortcut key to a different letter
I'm creating a small Excel RPG where the player moves the around a blank worksheet with the walls of a maze appearing as you approach them (think dark corridors, you can see only 1 cell in all directions around you).
The players current location is shown by excel setting the activecell to the players location. Currently I have four buttons labeled Up, Down, Left and Right which the player clicks to move in the desired direction.
The testers were frequently missing the four movement buttons and this would put the activecell outside of the maze next to one of the buttons. They'd have to move it back manually.
I would like for the players to move around using the arrow keys to use the activecell, as you would normally move around a sheet... but before each movement there is a procedure that check IF the player can move in the desired direction or not (cell borders used for walls), and then once they've moved there are more procedures to check for monsters treasure chests etc.
How can I make the arrow keys trigger the macros that the Up, Down, Left and Right buttons currently trigger, and not just move the activecell?
I'm having a bit of a issue at getting Excel to fully shut down. it is still running in the Task Manager. There is a bit of infomation on the net about but i can;t seem to make it go away. I'm using Excel 2007 and running VBA code out of MSaccess 2007
I Wrote a little program that seems to be working quite nice. The user never sees Excel but will work with userforms. I have lately come across a very irritating problem: If the user clicks on "Exit" I run the code
It does the job but about a minute after the whole program has exited and you are "back in windows" I get the. Microsoft Office Excel has encountered a problem and needs to close. error message. Is my file corrupt? Can I fix it? Am I exiting the wrong way?
I'm trying to close out excel through a user form (excel is hidden) button but excel crashes when it reaches the application.quit line of code.
I searched google and found one message that said that if you have add-ins that they can cause excel to crash when closing but there was no explanation or work around.
I'm sure there is a way to disable the 'X' (quit) button in the top right-hand corner of the EXcel application (not the 'X' for individual workbooks), or the hook the quit event so that I can run code that shut down the application cleanly? I'm sure a Windows API call is involved but do not know enough about that side of programming to know for sure.
I hate to have to come back to the forum after I Thanked you all for solving my problem, but here I am.
The code below disables the (X) button, no problems
Option Explicit Public BooleanForClosing As Boolean Private Sub Workbook_BeforeClose(Cancel As Boolean) If BooleanForClosing = False Then Cancel = True MsgBox "Please Use Exit Button" End If End Sub
The next code saves the workbook , but won't Quit the programme and goes back to the Exit Button ...
my excel sheet runs through a lot of calculations, opens Flowmaster, a simulations program, passes on data, receivs data and so on. Is there any way to have a user input to stop the whole simulation. During the first tries I had a lot of break point in my debugger. But now I want to have a button to hit or better just some keys to hit to stop it without using the ctrl+alt+del which closes everything.
I have a worksheet that needs a lot of inputs to calculate something for the user. However one of the inputs is the date. I wrote code to insure that the date entered is only a 4 digit integer number (i.e. 2009). However I want this code to be used only if a certain cell (Cell(3,3)) is modified. Right now if the user enters anything in any cell this code brings a pop not just for cell(3,3).
In Cell A1 I have the date. In Cell B1 is the shift. There are three shifts labeled as 1, 2, and 3. Is it possible to create a rule that will convert 1 to 0700, 2 to 1500, and 3 to 2300? Below is an example of how I need the shifts converted to time (military).
Below is code i wrote to change a password. password value is hidden in cell iv4 in different sheets. My userform contains 3 textboxes and button to run macro. As long as old password matches cell value AND new password is entered twice correctly then it will change value in cell iv4.
I am trying to make a change to an existing and working application. Right now, I read in a list of clients from my spreadsheet to my Userform. When the user (that's me as well) clicks on a name, (or names) the software takes over and does stuff with their biweekly payments. What I want to do is this: Not only show the names, but also the biweekly payments next to the names. The reason for this is some clients send in more than the assumed biweekly payment. As a first start, I changed my Initial function to read in two columns from my spreadsheet and not just one. The range name listbox_rwosource is d100:e112.
This is the only change I made. However, when I run the program - I still only see the names?
Public Sub InitMyUF() Dim I As Integer 'UserForm1.ListBox1.RowSource = "current_clients"
If numbers has been pasted in as text I cant convert them after. It convert the text to numbers and after it make a custom format with 5 zeroes.
I would really like to have the possibility to set the range with a input box and after set the numbers of zeroes/digits I want to have there. But have had problem put it in the code.
Have a look at the code below I have also pasted a test sheet to work with.
