I am trying to rename a lot of files within 1 folder. The Spreadsheet Column A contains all the old file names within a folder and Column B has the new file name. (1)My code is below but I continue getting an error that the file isn't found. (2) I would like to start with row 2 because row 1 will contain the folder path as a result of another macro.

I'm using 2007 Excel and I have a list of 200 JPG files on column A which mirror actual file names of files I have located in C:photos.
My objective is to use Excel 2007 to batch rename all the files located in C:photos from the names listed in column "A" to the names listed in column "B" that I have created.

But for some reason it is always pulling an error on the last item in the list, even if the file is there.
I currently have 3 batch files that I would like to be able to update using VBA instead of manually adding the information to each one. My goal is to be able to use my excel file and when I add new lines I could then run the script to save and/or update each of the batch files. I would like to be able to add the new lines I added in excel to the end of the batch files. I use the batch files for automation purposes but I do not like the fact that I have to open each one and added the same lines three times. This is why I want to be able to update my excel file and then add those new lines to the batch file. An example of how to accomplish this task using VBA would be awesome.

The problem maybe that I download these files en masse from a website and they all have 54-character long randomly generated filenames which I can rename by selecting all and then use the rename function to get a series of filenames like a, a(2), a(3), ... but I would rather have the files renamed based on the text that exists in cell B1 which is the title of the report. I also read somewhere that this kind of macro only works if the tabs have names like "Sheet 1"

Each night's files (X1 & Z1) are stored in a new folder with the naming convention "RP + [DATE]", (EX: RP120910, [YYMMDD]). I have 265 folders! I need to go through each folder, select the Z1 file (I don't care about the X1, X2 or Z2 files) and rename each with the following naming convention: "Z1 + folder_name + .xls". For Example: Folder RP120910 contains the Z1 file named "Z1_T1729.ECR". After renaming, the file should be "Z1RP120910.xls". As the VBA code loops through each subfolder, selecting and renaming the Z1 files, I would like the new files to be placed into a new folder named "Z1Files". Note: All subfolders are currently in a directory named "RegisterFiles". I am using Excel 2010.

I have a collection of about 200 .xls files in a folder, each contain the same macro. I now need to run this macro in all 200 files and save them but to do this manually will take hours. is there anyway to set excel to batch process a macro in multiple files?? Or maybe i can write a new macro to open up each workbook, run, then save and exit??

In the above structure, the files are present inside each folders Jan, feb...Dec under the regions North, South East n west. note that I have to select files starting with "Sales" and copy them into a new folder(say results) and rename copied files as Sales1.xls, Sales2.xls etc. (Files are not present in the folder company1, north, south, east and east.)

I run two monitors and am able to open different files on each monitor which is very handy.
This doesn't seem to work with Excel. If I have two different Excel files open I can only view one at a time. I can move across to the other monitor, but then can only view one at a time on that monitor - very frustrating.
When I was using Excel 2010 on my last job I was shown a clunky, round-about way of being able to open two Excel files, one on each monitor. (By opening one file, opening a new Excel document from there, and then opening the other Excel file from the new document, minimizing that file and dragging it to the other screen).

- When opening a file using Excel 2007 that was created with Excel 2003 the links in that file is automatically updated even though I get the edit links dialog and choose not to update.
After searching for a solution on the Internet I realize that this is a problem that exist when Excel opens a file created in an earlier version. Microsoft has no solution.
I need to be in control of which links that are updated and not.
Going back to excel 2003 is not an option. Saving the source files in Excel 2007 is not an option.
I need to audit files produced by others based on a numerical sampling. For instance, I may need to audit every 5th file for one person, but every 12th file for person 2.

I am having trouble getting Excel 2007 on my work computer to save as .xlsx by default.
I have opened the Office Button > Excel Options > Save > Save files in this format and selected "Excel Workbook (*.xlsx)," and if I save as before closing Excel then it works perfect and saves the file as .xlsx. However if I close Excel, re-open it later and save a new file the default "Save as type:" is "Excel 97-2003 Workbook (*.xls)" and if I open the save options again the "Save files in this format" option is reverted back to "Excel 97-2003 Workbook (*.xls)."
I have finally overcome the [Compatibility Mode] issue by saving a file named "Book.xltx" (not "Book1.xltx") in the two default locations "C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice12XLSTART" and "D:Documents and SettingsusernameApplication DataMicrosoftExcelXLSTART" (we use the D: drive at work for personal files). I thought this would solve the save as issue but it hasn't. I have also changed the "Save files in this format" before saving the .xltx files in the locations to apply the settings to those specific files but that hasn't worked.
It is on my work computer so I am limited in what settings I can change because they have them pretty well locked down.
I'm trying to sort all .xls files in a folder by modified date. I want most recent at top because then I will be cycling through and using the most recent version of files that have similar names.

I have built a darts scoreboard on Excel 2007, to track scores but also record statistics such as 3 dart average and -checkout success. As I don't know how to write macro's I've created it using formulae only - it's not fancy but does the job!
I have a number of .WAV files that call out the main scores - 60, 100, 140 and 180 and I'd like the scoreboard to play the relevant file when someone scores that amount. I've trawled through lots of forums but have been able to find one that does exactly what I need it to, and I don't know how to adjust the ones I've found.
This is how the scoreboard works:
There are 25 different sheets, one for each leg of the match that could be played. The sheets are named Leg1, Leg2, Leg3 etc.On each sheet, Player 1's scores are entered in cells J15 to J47, and Player 2's scores are entered into cells O15 to O47Once Player 1 or Player 2 wins the leg, I move on to the next sheet to play the next leg. Currently I have a sheet with two columns starting at "A2" and "B2"

- find all the files in the chosen folder with name that starts with "sz" and end with "_d"
- rename those files by replacing the first 5 numbers that follow sz with 5 different numbers that the user can choose e.g. through a user form.
I imagine the user to open the excel file, click on a form thats linked to a macro. The macro will call a userform and ask the user to choose the folder and type in a textbox the 5 new numbers.
I need the code that will be pasted behind the "OK" button in the userform.

In a folder I have several text files (each text file is a customer statement)
I get the files from the computer dept named randomly, I need to rename each
File to its customer ID number, each ID consists of 15 characters (including the dash characters) and is found on the 3rd row of the file (3rd row , skip one character And count 15 characters ex : 0010-902514-422)
I found a code that renames the text files incrementally (1,2,3…..). I need to modify the code so that instead of renaming the files that way I rename them by their ID number (get the ID of each file while looping then rename It by that ID)
One more thing, can I get the ID then skip 44 characters and attach the following 14 characters to the ID (ex : 0010-902514-422- Lebanese Pound). ttached is a folder containing an excel file with the code and 2 statements
