Excel 2010 :: Generate 6 Digit Unique Random Number For ID Column A

Jul 18, 2012

How do I create a 6 digit unique random number for use as an ID in column A. Once created the rows with preexisting 6 digit unique random ID numbers must not change every time new rows are added.

I have a userform for keeping records and would love to incorporate a new feature. I would want to generate a random serial number for each entry made with the userform.

I need the easiest way to randomize or generate team numbers in a league. Using COL A assign numbers between 1 & 8 without duplicates. Then repeat 5 more times. This has to be done on the spot and has time constraints as the players will be waiting for their team assignments.

EXAMPLE: I have 48 players which will be assigned to 8 teams of 6. I want to randomize the drawing so the same players don't play on the same teams each week. Also to be able to adjust number of teams determined by how many players are present. either 6 , 8, or 10 teams.

I'm trying to set up a system of sorts to track "services"

At the top of my 'new service" page, I need a button, which I then need to have a macro run on.

Sheet 1 is basically where I'd be entering the info, and sheet 2 where it would be stored. The button at the top is called Generate New "service' Number. This then needs to generate a new number on sheet 2 in A2 (then once 2 is populated, generate new in 3, then 4, then 5 etc...

I have a macro on Save Service Button at the bottom, which transposes the data into what would be used as a database to store all the services. That Macro then also needs to only transpose and paste data into the row corresponding with the "service number".

I want to generate numbers (1 to 15) in cells A1 through O1, but the number in each cells should be unique compare to the other cells, how can I do it? If I use =randbetween(1,15), I can not get unique number in each cell, some numbers are duplicated.

In an earlier life I was tasked with finding a "random" method of selecting two numbers from a "1 to 20" range so that the generated numbers can be applied to an set of people who will be partnered in a golf game draw.

It is only one draw per year so I don't care if the players have previously played together in past years.

easily be modified by a "passable knowledge level" person to be able to select a mystery "9" out of 18 holes that count for scores that particular round.

(btw: this is an issue only for the 20 guys who go away once a year to play golf, the world will not collapse if I have to draw numbers out of a hat, just looking for a slightly more elegant solution and I already have a few scoring macros so my first guess (but not only possibility) is VBA)

How can I create a Makro that looks for values (e.g. values > 90) and that then generates a list with: all the values greater than 90, the row names and column names of the values?

I am pretty sure I will need a Makro for this, but how to create it. I am using excel 2010.

I have attached a file to give you an example. The red table is the table with the values. The blue table is what I want to be generated automatically. In the example I did it manually.

is if there is a way to generate random numbers between 0001 and 9999. I always need to always have 4 digits. The first couple of numbers can be 0 so that I can maximize the number of variations.

i have worked in access using vba procedures. i can easily create a form in access that generates a random integer number between 0 and 20 and the user will guess the number between 1 to 20 if the random number is 16 and the user enters 14 the program will display a msg box saying too low or too high. here is the code .

Option Explicit Private Const MAX = 20 Private Const MIN = 1 Private iKey As Integer Private lTries As Long

Private Function Random() As Integer Random = CInt(Int((MAX - MIN + 1) * Rnd() + MIN)) End Function

Private Sub cmdGuess_Click() Dim lGuess As Long

now i have to do the same thing in excel create a program that will ask the user to enter numbers between 0 to 20 and see if the random number and user guess is same or not. but i have never worked in excel using vba procedures how can i achieve the same thing in excel using a vba procedures.

For my assignment, I am supposed to create a worksheet that will generate a random social security number (using the correct social security form of 000-00-0000) There are supposed to be a billion social security possibilities and each should be equally likely to be selected in the worksheet.

How to create a sheet to generate Random numbers from 2 specific list of a main list range of 36 Numbers. (List A = Specific 15 numbers, List B = The remaining Numbers from these 36)

Example :

-The Main List Range is from Number 01 to 36 -The Specific random list will be 15 Numbers of these 36

List A-. The Specific 15 Numbers are: 01,02,03,10,11,12,13,20,21,22,23,30,31,32,33 List B-. Remaining Numbers : 04,05,06,07,08,09,14,15,16,17,18,19,24,25,26,27,28,29,34,35,36

So

I need to generate ONE Unique Random Numbers of List A ( 01,02,03,10,11,12,13,20,21,22,23,30,31,32,33) In Cell A1 In Cell A2 In Cell A3

And from List B, (04,05,06,07,08,09,14,15,16,17,18,19,24,25,26,27,28,29,34,35,36)

I need to do the same thing In Cell A4 Cell A5 Cell A6

It's possible to have a 6 cells with random but Unique Digits? (not repeated numbers between the 6 cell ??)

I have a wookbook with serial numbers in column A and barcodes in column B. There are 51940 rows in total.

Is there a way I can search through column A, and for each unique value found , concatenate all of the barcodes that relate to that serial number in column C?

I want to generate random times in excel between upper and lower limits , which i can do , but i also want dates in same cells with out randomization , means dates should act independently and time should randomize

it should be something like that

8/1/2013 05:55 AM 8/2/2013 07:55 AM 8/3/2013 04:44 AM

i had a basic spreadsheet for my incomings and i got wiped with my hd exploding!! i know how much the total was i just need a way of creating a list of random amounts within a specified range over a year to give to my accountant.

I'm wanting some sort of formula to generate a reference number that relates to numbers i put in a cell. i want the end result to look something like this:

As you can see id like it to generate a reference number to the number that i input, and also when i input that number twice or three times it picks that up on the reference number also.

Is it possible to add letters to this "Unique random number" generator it is very fast and takes only 5s to run on 50,000 rows, I have a different "Unique random Sequence generator" macro but it takes about 30 minutes to run on 50,000 rows

Code:

Sub generateuniquerandom() Dim b() As Boolean, e As Range, k&, x& Dim lRow As Long With Sheets(1) lRow = .Range("F" & .Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row

I'm needing to generate a unique random value for a database with 3546 cases. The unique random values cannot be duplicates of each other. I tried the =RANDLOTTO function that I learned of in an old post on this board, but that results in "#NAME?" appearing in the first cell. I tried to install the Add-Ins (both the Analysis ToolPak and the Analysis ToolPak - VBA, but nothing seems to happen. Is there another way to generate these numbers?

I am working on a Random Cycle Count Generator that provides random SKU#s based on 3 separate columns of SKU listings. The user clicks a button to generate the SKU#s to cycle count for that day. What I would like to see is a date stamp in the columns next(B,D,F) to the referenced SKU listing(A,C,E) based on which SKU#s are generated. This will let me see the last date that the SKU was generated. I would also like it to automatically save after generating.

I have 1200 doctor/patient records to input into an excel spreadsheet for import to an online EHR database. I can set up all the normal formulas and formatting but for the life of me not figure out how to create a custom formula to take the first letter of the patient first name and last name and add 6 figures to create a unique patient identifier.

ie. James + Smith+ random 6 figures = JS245318.

In my spreadsheet the first name is under Column 1, Last name Column 3 and the unique number generated in column 4.

In Excel 2010, I can manually enter the GetPivotData function (and it works), but with Generate GetPivotData selected / enabled (in PivotTable Tools --> Options --> PivotTable --> Options), the GetPivotData function isn't automatically generated.

I need to generate conditional formatting in Excel 2010.

For the planned date of material submittable should turn yellow before 10 days ago & planned date of material submittable should turn Red when overdue.

I have Column C and D filled with numeric temperature and humidity data. I need next 16 rows (8 more set) to be filled with randomly generated dummy data by the values exist in C and D. Same numbers but randomly distributed.

I'm currently working on my masters dissertation and am using excel 2010.

Basically, I'm trying to generate a list of say, 1000 numbers within a range. I can already do this using the rand() function. However, I need excel to take each random number, apply it into a formula, and then list the answers in a seperate location. This would be easy to do if there was one simple function (which i could just insert into any adjacent cell). The problem is that each random number value is input into a table. The table, which has about 10 columns and 200+ rows, gives one final answer.

I'm sure there has to be a faster way than creating 1000 tables for each random number generated.

Let's say I have a list of 1000 random numbers in sheet 1. the function table is in sheet 2 and produces the answer in the same sheet, in a single cell. I'd like excel to use each random number generated, input it into the function table, attain the answer from the table, and list it in the cell next to the random number.
