Some expert users can unhide a sheet in a worksheet which is protected by password. But I don't want to place a button in the worksheet for everyone to see and wonder what it's for. I can record a macro and assign a keyboard shortcut but I can't do it it with existing macros ?
I need to resize Excel pretty frequently - I need to size the whole Excel app tall and all the way to the left, taking up about a third of my screen - then maximize it - then back to tall and left, etc. I can do it by clicking the "Restore Down" icon in the top right corner, but I can't figure out how to do it using the keyboard.
I've tried Ctrl-F8, Ctrl-F9 and Ctrl-F10, but they all act on individual workbooks within the Excel application. I want to resize the whole Excel application. Does it exist?
I've created Keyboard Shortcuts to run Macros in "Workbook A". Problem is, if I have "Workbook B" open in the same Excel instance/process as "Workbook A" the Keyboard Shortcuts will run the Macros in "Workbook A".
Is there a way to restrict the Keyboard Shortcuts to only run the Macro if Workbook A is active?
Or is there a way to code the Macro to run its procedures only if Workbook A is active?
Using Excel 2010 - I have a large workbook with multiple worksheets - been using it succesfully every day for a long time. All of a sudden every empty cell, and any cell not specifically formated in every worksheet has a default cell format of Time. Any new workbook created is OK.. defaults to 'General' - But, if I add a new blank worksheet to this particular workbook it defaults to 'Time' format. How did the default cell format for this workbook become set to 'Time' from 'General' and how do i fix it?
In Excel 2010, you can color a cell with a fill color and a font color.
It can be done manually via one of 3 methods that I know of (aside from a macro or a routine):
-From the ribbon button (underneath the font size and increase and decrease font size toolbar buttons)
-By formatting the cell (right clicking on a cell),
-Clicking on the ribbon's font section (giving you the same 6 category format cell box as right clicking on a cell)
What I need is a routine that resets the Fill Color and Font Color toolbar buttons to "No Fill" and "Automatic" if I run it inside a macro or create a command button on a worksheet.
I have been working on a workbook, and all of a sudden, my keyboard no longer worked in Excel. No shortcuts, no CTRL+C, no CTRL+V, no CTRL+S, no CTRL+A, no F12 to save, no letters, no numbers.... The only button that is working is my ALT key, and I use the other letter keys just fine to navigate after pressing ALT.... But that's it!
I have still been able to work on it because I can still write in Word, and I can still write more code in the Visual Basic window, and I can still click the buttons I create under the Developer... but it's still frustrating to not be able to type a thing in any of the cells, formula bar, or be able to use any of the shortcuts. And now when I tried to close it, I can still select everything else, and I can close this workbook, but it won't close Excel.
I would like to use Shapes in excel, instead using userform as the code below. In this userform, it has command buttons for the numbers and the a text box to show the numbers. How can I do it, using square shapes for numbers and another rectangle shape, to show the written numbers.I would like to create a number keyboard using "shapes".
Is there a Column Filter Drop down Keyboard Shortcut for Excel 2013?
In Excel 2013, is there a keyboard shortcut to access the column filter drop down. For example, if you are on the cell A1, and you select Filter under the data menu and you want to filter column A without using your mouse, is there a keyboard shortcut to do this. I know Alt-A-C, clears the filters, but I want to know if there is a shortcut to access the filters in the column. In case my explanation isn't clear, I have included some screenshot pictures of the filter, before and after it is selected, to show what I am talking about, and what I am trying to accomplish without the mouse.
I have a routine that by clicking one button, that calls a macro, that currently opens Excel, or Word, or WordPerfect. The following macro uses a Case Statement looking at what the extension is, such as for Excel . . . xls
I have added a case statement for a shortcut . . . exe
I've created a calendar in VB following the instructions in this link - [url]
The calendar works fine but the problem I've got is I've got unwanted copies of the shortcut when I right-click. If you scroll down the URL, right at the bottom in blue is a paragraph that describes the problem and how to get rid of it. I've tried this numerous times but the duplicate entries keep re-appearing.
I've attached my workbook in the hope that any of you experts would be so kind as to take a look and offer any help or advice on how to fix this problem?
I am trying to send bulk emails from my excel 2010 - however I am getting a POP UP. find the screen shot in the enclosed word document So every time a new mail is sent from excel we need to press the button allow Is there a way where I can turn off this warning.
I currently have a navigation menu with 9 options however these options are based on Range names that I have set up.
The concern is that if someone deletes the cell that contains the range name, obviously that option in the navigation won't work, nor would you want it to.
However if someone re-enters a cell that you would want linked up with the navigation there's a lot more action involved.
What i'm looking for is a macro that can be used through a button, Idealy i'd like the macro to search through column "B" and look for key labels (ex: "Ground Floor", "1st Floor" "2nd Floor" etc.) and have each button set up for it's respective search data (ex. Ground button searches only "Ground Floor")
I have created a macro in excel 2010 which enable the file to save (extract) data into separate location and name. The vba code for macro is as follows: Question: How can I save this workbook with reference to the value containing in cell B2? (it is named temporary now - as defined in the code)
Recorded macro. The hope is to insert a excel formatted table a set number of times. I have found a loop code that references a Cell A1 and repeats that amount of times. So if A1= 10. There should be 10 tables inserted. However on the second time there is a fault with the table name. I need the name to change each time the loop is run. ie Table1, Table2, Table3 etc up until the loop stops (A1 contents).
I am using excel for windows 2010. The macro that i have so far is below.
Sub LoopTest() Dim n Dim V Range("A1").Select V = ActiveCell.Value
I've programmed in many different forms of BASIC in my days, but I'm having too much trouble with VBA, and can't figure out if it's me or if it's the version of Excel I'm using (2002). I wrote a program in Excel, where if certain cells contain values other cell's calculations will become active. I want to click on a button that I created on the spreadsheet, then be able to select different keyboard strokes to activate these cells. I understand that there are 3 event codes that circle around this concept and that is KeyDown, KeyUp and KeyPress. Whenever I type in what MS Help told me to type in for these events, it always returns a runtime error.
Does anyone know if there is anyway that we can command Excel to avoid accepting aNY KEYBOARD ENTRIES? what intend to do is restrict a certain region on a worksheet for Users not to be able to type anything but but there are commandbuttons on the header which use: Range("C65536").End(xlUp)(2, 1) = "Value for the last cell" code to get the input into the cell. The purpose is to make use of the cmdbuttons with mouse but the data notto be keyed in !!!
is there any way to copy and paste "value only" using keyboard? Ctrl+V is pasting everything. i want existing format to remain the same and using mouse is taking lot of time :
I've run into a problem and I cannot resolve. I am designing an Excel Application in VBA. During the execution of the VBA code, the user will press different keys on the keyboard. These keystrokes are determined by using the GetAsyncKeyState Function. The problem happens when I exit from the VBA code and move back to a worksheet outside the code execution.
Lets say a user has pressed the 'Q' and 'X' key just prior to the final VBA subroutine running and releasing the worksheets back to the user. On the worksheet, in the selected cell will appear the 'Q' and 'X'. For some reason these keystrokes are not 'flushed' from the keyboard buffer prior to the code completion and are being transfered to the active worksheet. This is really annoying if I am testing the code in the VBA editor, because the spurious keystrokes will be placed in my VBA code, causing me to search for the out of place characters.
I would like to be able to check a checkbox on a userform with a keyboard stroke rather than using the mouse. Any key will do, "P" or Enter would be prefered. It would make data entry much easier.
My macro essentially requires a deletion of the entire sheet, so I cannot run it through a button, it'd by definition be deleted. So I was thinking to run this macro through the keyboard, how to assign a keyboard key to existing macro?
