Mar 4, 2012What is the best way to concatenate with a semi-colon across multiple cells in excel. The one kicker is I only want to concatenate where the cell is populated.
If I write a simple Concatenate or combined columns, if a cell is blank I get the multiple.

Save AS Tab Delimited File For SAP
Feb 4, 2008I'm trying to create a excel sheet with macros that will generate a tab delimitd file which is a journal voucher and I want to upload that .txt file to our financial system (SAP). When I create a tab delimited file manually, that is I enter all the values in excel and save as .txt it works great. But I have created a spreadsheet where the useres (all employees on the financial departement) enter the info required. I have a macro validating that all fields are correct and so on.. When they are finished they sedt the spreadsheet to me (an excelfile) via email, this is done by a submit buttom(macro) and the I have a hidden sheet in the worksheet which gets all the values that are necessery and then I create my tab delimited file using the well known save as fileformat=xltext macro. But SAP will not accept this file. I get error messages as convertion erros in line 4 column 6 and so on. The sheet which is saved as .txt is 100% with formulas, it gets all the value from another sheet(sheet1). I use the formula =IF(Sheet1!$E17=0;"";Sheet1!E17) in the cells with E17 changing to whatever cell is required. What can be wrong here? May it be that all the formulas (columns A to H and row 2 to 1001) somehow mix it all up and even to the cell is empty is the formula is somehow hidden in the .txt file and that messes it all up??

Oct 4, 2011i have encountered a problem which happens when you write data that contain : in an excel sheet (i use excel 2010)
for instance if i enter to one of the cell 45:58 excel sees it as 01/01/1900 21:48:00 when i try to get the information by using a function i will get the wrong data for example typing in the different cell LEFT(Cell,5) will result 1.908
(i receiving the data from an outside source in this way and i need to make analysis)
i have noticed that the first 2 digits (21 in the example) are related to the number i have choosen in a 24 hour cycle for instance
24:58 will result 01/01/1900 00:58:00
26:58 will result 01/01/1900 02:58:00
48:58 will result 02/01/1900 00:58:00

I am trying to record a macro where the last step is to SAVE AS the file. I want it to use the current date as the end of the file name.
i.e.
Daily OST -- 2012-08-10
Daily OST -- 2012-08-11
Daily OST -- 2012-08-12
etc...
This is what is currently in the macro but all it gives me is the first part "Daily OST --". How to fix?

Dec 5, 2012I run excel 2010... I have xls file (see file attached) with both English and Non English characters.
When I save this file as xls or xlsx - everything is good, but when I save the file as CSV and try to open it later - I see that the English characters stays the same but the non English characters become gibberish.
How can I save a file (that include some non English characters) as CSV without loosing the non English characters? Is there a way to do that from within the excel 2010 menus? Or maybe there is an external tool?

Nov 26, 2012I just got a new computer and upgraded to Excel 2010 and Windows 7. When I try to open a workbook in Excel 2010, my saved file paths on the left side of the screen are gone. I want to put them back in there.
In Excel 2007 running Windows XP, I would just right click in the left side menu and click "add" and now that's no longer an option.

Apr 24, 2014I have windows 7 and excel 2010 and am using a macro that opens up a csv file(I think) of daily reports into Excel and then automatically delineates it and formats it how I want it. I will be using this to save a new file every day for the reports from the previous day and want to include at the end of that macro a way to prompt the user to "save as" so that each day they can run the macro and enter in the date and save that report for further use. I am wondering what VBA code I could use at the end of the macro code to prompt the Save As box and if I could already have the save us set up in the following folder... "W:Daily to Fortis Excel2014(the user will put in the date here)".
I've been looking around sites and trying to figure it out. I need the file format to be the same as when you save as "Excel Workbook". I was trying to use the Saveas (filename) function and could get it to save every time as a specific file name in that location but when I run it the next day it has the same name and saves over itself. So I need the user to be able to put in todays date as the filename to create a new one every day.

Jul 1, 2014Isn't there a checkbox somewhere where I can tell Excel 2007 to leave xls files as they are? My Excel 2010 doesn't urge me to save an old xls file format into xlsx but in Excel 2007 I can't find a switch (and I don't rememeber if I had to do anything in 2010). So ultimately I want to stay in compatibility mode when using old files.

Mar 22, 2012Excel 2010, Win 7. I have attached a .xlsm file to an email. The contained macros run perfectly, and one of them is "public" so it shows up in "Developer - Macros", and "Customize Quick Access Toolbar" lists.
If the recipient clicks and drags the attachment to a folder, or copy/pastes the attachment, it works fine. (Macros are enabled, etc.)
However, if the recipient right clicks on the email attachment, and selects "SAVE AS" from the item list, the file saves, has the right name and extension, looks ok (the icon has the exclamation point, etc), and it is the correct size, but it simply will not load. You can double click, do a file open, etc. but it will not load. It's a hidden workbook, but if you "open it" and Alt-F11 to show the VBA editor, it isn't there!
It's not stopping the project - we simply tell them to click/drag, etc. but I totally do NOT understand why that happens.

Excel Save As Should Default File Save Type To XLSX Using VBA
Aug 21, 2012What I am trying to do is that I have an excel file with macros and it is a read-only file. In order for the user to save, I want them to only be able to save as a .xlsx file as it disables all macros. If for whatever reason, the user wants to save the file as another .xlsm file, they should be allowed but before they save, a "are you sure you want to save as .xlsm?" message should pop up.
All the options in the save as box should still be available in case they want to save in that particular format. Just that the .xlsx should be the default.
Have Code To Block Save But How To Keep Code In Workbook Without Saving The File

I don't know too many details about how they work, but somehow saving the file will screw it up and my boss has to go back and reset something or other to correct it. Obviously it's connected to some other software somewhere. The code below will block Save and Save-As. BUT how do I get the file to hold onto the code without actually saving the file after the code is added (since the file shouldn't be saved)?
