Excel Live Calendar Conditional Formatting With Multiple Cells In Column
Jul 15, 2013
I have designed a live calendar and am trying to highlight selected dates from a column in the calendar. I am able to select single cell in the column and highlight the date in the calendar, But am unable to select multiple dates in the column and highlight multiple dates in the calendar using conditional formatting.
Eg: calender dates are from B5:H9 and multiple dates are in column J10:J13
I'm using 2007 and want to add conditional formatting to multiple cells.
Say I have 3 columns and 10 rows of data (A1:10 ; B1:10 ; C1:10). I want to add an icon set to everything in columns B and C based on a comparison with the figure on their immeidate left. So B1 is compared to A1, C1 to B1 etc.
When I do it though it compares everything to A1 (formula in the Conditional Formating is =$A$1 and it won't let me remove the $'s). It looks to me like I can't do it and have to add the formatting to every cell indiviually (which is quite a lot).
I am tracking figures over four weeks with a target of 4 sales per week. I have formatted the cells to light up - Green for 4 sales or more, Amber for 3, Red for 2 or less. I have set a monthly column up at the end of the table and want it to update the figure and colour that each member of my team is currently on. I can get it to change colour for the full 4 weeks worth of figure but want the montly column to be live and not cumulative. For example after 2 weeks if the total sales a member had achieved was 9, I would want the cell to be green. If after 3 weeks they had still only achieved 9 I would want the cell to change to amber once the 3rd weeks '0' figure had been added.
I'm using Excel 2007. I would prefer to stay away from the scripting side of the house if possible. This is basically a 3 day forcast weather chart. The top is the actual weather data, the bottom portion is a color coded reflection of how the weather affects various things.
This product is created in excel, but will be embedded into a powerpoint. It will be updated daily. Here is what I would like. I want the color chart at the bottom to update automatically based on the data I enter above. I have a grasp that I can update the color through conditional formatting, although im not exactly sure what that will look like with all of those cells.
I also figured out that I can insert the letters in those lower cells with something similar to " =IF(C6>90, "T", "") " which would put in a 'T' for Temperature when the temperature got above a certain degree.
I run into a problem when I have multiple factors affecting a single cell. For instance on the example in day 2 of my image. Personnel are affected by Temperate AND UV Index. How would I set up that cell to pull that information from both of those cells and display it accordingly? I would prefer the letters to stay separated by the comma, but I could live without that. The default cell color will be green, with the potential to be yellow or red. I left a few examples of possible situations on day 2 and 3.
I have a calendar for the whole year made. I want every Wednesday to be highlighted. I wanted a conditional format to do this as I will be doing multiple calendars and I do not want to manually highlight every individual cell.
I have this SS that uses conditional formatting to color days in a calendar, dates are entered in columns B & C when the dates are entered then the days of the month highlight. Everything works great but I can not get the conditional formatting to work in column E. Column E would be January 1. If I enter Jan 1 in column B & Jan 30 in column C all the days highlight except Jan 1? I have uploaded the SS.
I am having a problem setting conditional formatting for multiple cells. The first condition of the conditional formatting works for the cells but the second condition does not. There is probably an easy fix for this but I can't seem to find it.
I am trying to do a conditional formatting based on the result in one cell but it needs to add up multiple cells first to determine which conditional format it needs to use. I am not sure whether I need to do a formula conditional format or whether to use cell is greater than with =sum() in it. I have tried both but neither seem to be working correctly. I have attached an example of the spreadsheet and the conditions I am trying. I am using 2010 version.
Basically, the closing amount for Monday in prod 1 (cell c4), needs to display in red if sum of the cumm value for Tuesday (L4), Wed (N4), Thur (P4) & Fri (R4) is greater than that value or display in amber if the sum of the cumm value for Tuesday (L4), Wed (N4), Thur (P4).
I need to complete the same for the whole column for Monday (col C) for each appropriate product. Then the same for column B but this will sum different cells but the principal will be the same.
I am using Excel 2003. I have a spread sheet and I am trying to use conditional formatting. But I can't figure out how to use conditional formatting across multiple columns and so I have been doing each column individually which has been kind of a hassle. I also am trying to figure out how to put in a formula so that every occurrence of a certain text will show up a certain color. I know that I can just do "cell value is", "equal to" and click on the cell, but the information in this spread sheet is organized alphabetically and is going to be added to frequently therefore every time I add information it re-organizes. This then messes up my conditional formatting because the text value that was in the cell gets bumped up or down.
Working in Excel 2007. I am using excel for a data log (basically) and want it to format all empty cells in a row yellow if there is data in column A
Basically, If i have a value in A2, I want any empty cell between B2-G2 to be filled in yellow (as an idicator to the inputter that the cell needs to be completed).
there is already conditional formatting on these cells, which i want to maintain for the non-empty cells. I also have "0" as a value, so I couldn't use the basic conditional formatting setting it =0, it highlighted cells with $0.00, which i do not want.
I use the conditional formatting of duplicates within a column quite often. Now I am trying to highlight duplicates based on multiple cells in the same row. I can't seem to get a formula to make that work. I have four cells in separate columns but the same row, for example H2:K2, H3:K3, H4:K4, etc. I would like to highlight the four cells in that row if there is a duplicate of all four cells in another row. So if one, two or three cells are duplicates in the same column I do not want to highlight any of the cells, it should only highlight the group of four cells if all four cells are identical in another row. Pretty much the same way the default highlight duplicates works, just the value is spread across four cells.
If you have a range of cells with values in them (Q2:AZ2), you can use conditional formatting to identify the top x% of the group and it would essentially treat each cell in comparison to the group. I need to identify if a cell in the group is greater than 3*Stdev(Q2:AZ2). Do I have to create conditional formatting for each individual cell or is there a way to apply a function to the group that would recognize each cell the same way that the canned conditional formatting rules work?
I have twelve sheets that each have a total score on cell G10 that I want to have copied to a thirteenth sheet in a specific column (F5-16). What would I have to do to make that happen? The G10 cell is an auto-summed cell, if that makes a difference.
I need for coloring "Expected Delivery Date" column corresponding with "Control Date" and "Control Result. But I want to correspond with the cells' last content of "Control Date" and "Control Result" But first of all I want "Control Date" should be flashed 10 days ago of it's date... (it's already done on my excel file)
Then I want "Expected Delivery Date" as green when - "Expected Delivery Date" =< "Control Date" and "Control Result" =Y (Means Control is Ok on due time)
I want "Expected Delivery Date" as red when - "Expected Delivery Date" > "Control Date" and "Control Result" =Y (Means control is ok not on due time)
- "Expected Delivery Date" > "Control Date" and "Control Result" =N (Means control ok is not given, delayed...)
I have applied conditional formatting to a cell using formulas and i want to copy that formatting to a new cell using similar formula but pointing to different cells. Is it possible to do so? I have tried to copy and paste special>formats, but that just copies the conditional formatting with the same formulas.
I want to copy to $D$5/$D$295>$R$5,TRUE,FALSE) without having to paste the new formula in each time.
I have two conditions for a cell. One is that it counts the time elapsed in cell M4, (=now()-J4). The other is whether or not we are still waiting for a response (in cell L4, Y or N). What I would like to do is make it so that when we are still waiting for a response the M4 cell is highlighted yellow if more than 3 days and red if more than 6 days, but if cell L4 is changed to "N", then the formatting goes away. II use Excel 2010.
I have a spreadsheet showing names, quality percentages and times taken to answer a call in 3 columns. I would like to highlight the cells that fall within the top 20% of those shown (e.g. if there are 100 quality percentages I want to highlight the top 20 not those over 80%) also the same with call length.
I have a column of numbers and times (mins and secs) and what would like to do is set a conditional format so that the cell turns a colour when the number of any cell is within the highest 20% and the other column turns a different colour when the time is within the lowest 20%.
I setup a table with a column titled "Type". Each value under column "Type" defines the type of row it is: "Section", "SubSection", "SubSubSection"
I wish to create a set of conditional formatting rules that apply to data rows in this table, each rule controlling how cells within a whole row should be formatted, according to the value found in "Type", for that row.
Rule1: [@Type]="Section" -> fat red line on top of cell. Rule2: [@Type]="SubSection" -> thin black line on top of cell. Rule3: [@Type]="SubSubSection" -> dashed black line on top of cell.
I can't seem to make this work.
How can I leverage the nice column names, and the "@"-this row designator, within a table to create conditional formatting rules that apply to all the cells within a row, in the same way one can refer to in table formulas?
see spreadsheet. columns a-f contain pupils details.g4-r23 contain marks for 12 questions. row 24 contains total marks for that question. questions are out of 2,3,4 and 5 marks. I would like to format the cells to reflect % for that question. At the moment I have to format column by column to do that. When I format the whole spreadsheet 0 and 1 show in red 2 and 3 in yellow and 4 and 5 in red. I want 2 when equalling 100% to show green not yellow.
i have a spreadsheet in excel 2007. It shows a students target grade in one column and their recent test mark in another column. Firstly i have applied conditional formatting to say whether or not the student has hit their target, below or above, using red, yellow and green colours. This all works fine.
Now i would like to add a formula that counts the number of cells that are red, yellow or green etc.....
I have a workbook containing two worksheets of staff training records.
The first work sheet contains a list of names and the dates they completed various training courses. I have used some simple date based formulas and conditional formatting to colour-code their name depending on whether their earliest retraining due date has passed, is coming up in the next few weeks, or is a long way off. The data is set out alphabetically, one person per row of data.
The second sheet contains the same list of names, but each person's data is split across two consecutive rows. The cells in column A which contain the staff names are merged in pairs so that the name heads both rows of data.
I want the colour coding of the merged name cells in sheet 2 to automatically copy the colour coding applied to the single name cell in sheet 1, but don't know how.
I am applying conditional formatting on a range of cells. I have 2 conditions to color cells in different colors. Once I enter data, cells get colored corectly according to conditions. What I want is to count how many cells are colored by conditional formatting.
I tried using VBA --- Evaluate formula for each cell and count if TRUE.
I observed, for Excel 2007, as the condition is applied on the range, I expect the formula to be changed dynamically for each cell with appropriate addresses, like for A1, if am referring to cell C1, for A2 it should automatically refer to C2.
And excel takes care of this cells are colored correctly, however, when I try to check the 'FormatCondition' in VBA, I get only one formula for entire range. SO I can not use evaluate to find if the condition is satisfied or not ?
I am having trouble getting some conditional formatting to apply to all cells in a column in a pivot table. Currently, the conditional formatting is only applying to the top level items in the pivot but is not applying to the lower level items. I can see why it is doing this. the range in "Applies to" is only specifying the rows that contain the top level items. I tried to change the range to D10:D647 but, it reverts back to just the top level items. How to get it to apply to everything?
