Exporting Data Into Multiple Text Files

I have 10 rows and 3 columns or words(data). What I am trying to do is export this data one row at a time so that I end up with 10 text files. Each row needs to be inserted into 3 variables within my text file. (Variable1,Variable2,Variable3) and then saved. Each saved text file needs to be named Variable1-Variable2-Variable3.txt. End result should have 10 text files that are named corrosponding to each row of data and each text file should also have the 3 variables replaced with the corrosponding row data.

Right now I have to manually rename the text file (Variable1-Variable2-Variable3.txt) and then manually open the text file and select EDIT-REPLACE and insert the data 3 times. I have to do this for many many text files and it is becoming monotinous.

Exporting To Text Files
I am gathering data over several sheets and need to export it as a.txt file.

The problem is that in excel the data reads 1,2,3,4 and when I export it or save as or open and paste to the resulting data reads "1", "2", "3", "4,".

How to I get the txt file to not have the ""'s?

Exporting data into multiple text files

My situation is the next:
I have one columm with 70000+ rows (starts from B3 to the final).
I need to copy the data every 10 rows and save it in multiple txt files, example:
B3:B12 ----> 00001-00010.txt
B13:B22 ---> 00011-00020.txt
B23:B32 ---> 00021-00030.txt
B33:B42 ---> 00031-00040.txt

and so on.....

the macro (TextMe.xls) of xlite almost does what I am looking for.
But, how to change it in order the macro does what I need?.

Importing Data From Multiple Text Files
I have about 1200 text files with data regarding different machines.These file contain a line called 'Validation date" and also the programe number on different line.

I need a macro which will extract this date for each program number and write in excel in two columns like program number and validation date.

I have tried with some of the macro help available on this site,but I have to do this one at a time.The time required doing this way is same as going in each text file and copy/pasting in excel.Is it possible to automate this process.

Extract AndParse Out Specific Data From Multiple Text Files
I have a few hundred data/text files to analyze, some a few thousand lines deep. I would like to grab 5, just 5 numbers describing voltage levels. I know the preceding text for each of these in the cell and the following text as well. I just need to delete everything else and keep these 5 values in a column using a script or a macro, and do so for all these files in a specified folder.

This would be 3 weeks of work and the analysis needs to be done ASAP for my research.

Exporting Data From Multiple Workbooks To One Workbook
I do environmental testing for multiple hospitals and surgery centers. I've created a master workbook in excel 2007 that includes about 7 sheets. Each sheet is for account info, testing areas, billing, and reports. In the testing areas sheet, I've used a formula to compute in column F a return date for each row based on when the area in that row was tested AND based on that area's yearly schedule (quarterly, semi-annually or annually). The date tested info is in column E of each row and the yearly schedule is in column H of each row.

Every client has their own workbook created from the master workbook template. I would like to export the return dates data in column F of each workbook into a single workbook that would tell me what testing I have to do for each client in any given month so I don't have to go to each workbook and make a list manually. So, not only the date would have to show, but also all the other info in that row (acct number, location, charge, etc). BTW, the data in this testing areas sheet I want info from is not in a "table"...just in cells.

Exporting Excel Data To Word As Unformatted Text
I'll try to simplify what I'm trying to do without getting into too much details that might be considered irrelevant to my question.

1. A set of VBA procedures are run successfully, and the results are compiled on a single w/s "mySheet" in a single w/b "myBook".

2. I intend to repeat 1. above 1,000s of times (same w/b, same w/s).

3. Consider a single run. The results of interest on "mySheet" are confined to a range, say, A20:K40, named "myInpRange", with a 7-digit run identifier ID automatically generated and stored in cell F5, say, F5 = 1234567

4. I've successfuly performed the following tasks manually:
...a) copy range A20:K40 of "mySheet"
...b) Open a new MS Word document
...c) Paste Special as Unformatted Text
...d) Save the Word file for this run As: LL_1234567.inp (="LL_" & F5 & ".inp")
...e) Close the Word file.
...f) Repeat a) to e) above for the next run.

Q: How to code a VBA Excel macro to handle Excel & Word, run from a button on the w/s "mySheet", and to perform the tasks a) to e) above ??

In case you might wonder why I do have to go through this trouble. Well, my next set of programs are DOS-Applications, which only allow their redirected input data files to be as described above.

Translation Of HTML Cell Data When Exporting As TEXT
I have a cell in which I have the following data (for example):

<a href="http://www.trucks.com">Ford Trucks</a>

I need to export the sheet as a tab delimited txt file for import into another program. When excel saves the file as .txt, it add extra data so that the cell is represented as:

"<a href=""http://www.trucks.com"">Ford Trucks</a>"

Note the set of two additional inverted commas. This extra data interferes with the parsing of the data in the other program. I've tried formatting the cells to "general" and "text", however, it does not seem to affect the txt output.

At the end of the day I might have 3 to 15 excel files I have created that day and I would like to take information from certain cells (examle: L3, B6, B7, B8, G8, and so on) and create a txt file with all of the information in it.

Example:
12/20/2007

12/20/2007
Someone Else
345 Anywhere St.

Convert Multiple Files To Text Files
I have about 100 Excel files in one folder that need to be saved as text files. They can keep the same name, but simply need to be converted to text files. I'd like to use VBA for this and I can't find examples that do exactly that...or ones that my limited knowledge can handle.

Excel files exist in C:Source and ALL of them should be saved as text files in C:Destination. Maybe there is an easier way, but I thought for sure there was a routine I could use.

Importing Multiple Text Files
This is a great bit of code (I found), to import multiple text files.

I have one small issue -

currently it imports with each file going to a new column, like this: text file1 A1:A4, txt file2 B1:B4, txt file3 C1:C4 etc etc

And eventually i risk running out of columns because I'm working with a lot of text files.

Can someone tell me what to do to modify this code so it imports like this? :
text file1 A1:D1, txt file2 A2:D2, txt file3 A3:D3 ETC ETC

.e.g. first file imports across row1, second file across row2 etc

Sub test2()
Dim myDir As String, fn As String, ff As Integer, txt As String
Dim delim As String, n As Long, b(), flg As Boolean, x, t As Integer
myDir = "\BP1MELIS001SHARED_DATAEVERYONESolutions IntranetPriceMasterlogs" '

All new entries are paste one row below the existing data.

Some of the text files may not have any data in it or may not have the Portfolio Value as the monthly transactions may occupied 2 or 3 text files. Some text files may have 2 Name in it and there will be 2 Portfolio Values in it which I will need both to be copy to the worksheet.

Rename Multiple Text Files
In a folder I have several text files (each text file is a customer statement)
I get the files from the computer dept named randomly, I need to rename each
File to its customer ID number, each ID consists of 15 characters (including the dash characters) and is found on the 3rd row of the file (3rd row , skip one character And count 15 characters ex : 0010-902514-422)

I found a code that renames the text files incrementally (1,2,3..). I need to modify the code so that instead of renaming the files that way I rename them by their ID number (get the ID of each file while looping then rename It by that ID)
One more thing, can I get the ID then skip 44 characters and attach the following 14 characters to the ID (ex : 0010-902514-422- Lebanese Pound). ttached is a folder containing an excel file with the code and 2 statements

I have recorded macro for one file including importing from text to excell, copy and paste the selected file (look the macro below). Do i have to make one macro for each file??, that takes much more time than manual import and copy paste. Automate Import Of Multiple Text Files
I am new to VBA coding. My boss recently handing me a task where I have to take data which is stored in thousands of fwd files and import it into spread sheets. This can be read with notepad as plain text. This data has about 35 lines of heading info i need to skip. The data i need transfered is stored in columns and each data row is tagged at the beginning with the letter D and comment lines begin with the letter C. The heading info has no such tags.The data is space delimited. Further, some of the columns of data need to be omitted in the spreadsheet. Each data.fwd file gets its own spreadsheet meaning each time i import data i start with a fresh template.xls to import into. The format of the spreadsheet is the same as the format the data is presented in the text file with ten columns, except the text has twelve and two of them need to be omitted.

One more thing, I need to be able to push a button and query the file to import.

Importing Selective Lines From Multiple Text Files
I have many text files basically with the same data from different dates. I am trying to select specific lines from each text, one that includes ".txt" which is the date, ex: "2008_308" and one that includes the word "PIXEL" and the following 5 lines after that.

I found a very similar post to mine and someone provided the script using VB for the question. It works, but it was only for one text file. I would like to use it for multiple text files. The files are all dated, i.e. "2008_308.txt". Although some of the dates are missing.

This is the script, from another posting, for importing selective lines from one text file:

Sub test()
Dim fn As String, txt As String, delim As String, a() As String
Dim i As Long, ii As Long, iii As Long, n As Long, x, y
fn = "c: est.txt" ' Change here (File Path)
delim = vbTab ' Change here (delimiter)
temp = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject").OpenTextFile(fn).ReadAll
x = Split(temp, vbCrLf)
ReDim a(1 To UBound(x) + 1, 1 To 100)
For i = 0 To UBound(x)
If InStr(1, x(i), "txt", 1) > 0 Then
n = n + 1 : y = Split(x(i), delim)
For ii = 0 To UBound(y)
a(n, ii + 1) = y(ii)..........................

Import Multiple Text Files Based On Parameters
I get about 10 text files at the beginning of each month that I need to import into Excel. The file layout does change slightly from month to month so I have an Excel spreadsheet with the layout as the first worksheet. Each text file is in fixed layout form rather than delimited. The structure of that page is that the name of the first text file is in cell A1. The cumulative field widths are below that and the data formats are next to the field widths (in the adjacent column B). T=Text, G=General, D= Date with 3 flavors of Date: YMD, DMY and MDY. For the second text file, it repeats the structure in columns C and D, the third text file in columns E and F etc. What I would like is for the macro to open the first text file (based on the name in cell A1) and import it into a new worksheet (same file) using the cumulative field widths in A2 through A8 and the formats from B2 through B8, then import the next text file to a new worksheet (same file) using the cumulative field widths in C2 through C8 and the formats from D2 through D8 and keep going until all the files have been imported. The sheet names should be the same as the file that is imported (the .txt part of the file name isnt important). Ive attached a copy of the Excel spreadsheet that has the file names, field widths (cumulative) and field formats and a 2 row sample of the text file for the first import.

VBA Macro To Multiple Text Files Based On Headings On Worksheet
I have created an Profit&Loss excel sheet with all the accounts in column A and then the values for each month, January to December in column B to column K like this:

Column A...............Col B............Col C........Col D........Col E.....and so on
Account 1..............2222............58452........5255.........5844....
Account2................5.................45...............25...........458 ....

I've made a macro that creates a textfile and saves it on my desktop, but I get a text file with all the info in the same file, what I want is to get one text file for every month, that is text file number one(january) is: The heading info+column A+columnB

text file number two(February) is: The heading info+column A+columnC
text file number three(March) is: The heading info+column A+columnD and so on

In the heading info I have to state the period and then I need the macro to change this for every text file, that is for the january file it has to be "1 to 1", for february "2 to 2" and so on. As it is now it will always say "1 to 1" because that is the values I have entered.

Exporting One Column To Text File
I've created a spreadsheet to create a text file which I can use to inport values into another device. Using CONCATENATE etc I end up with a range of cells (1 column / Many rows) that I can then MANUALLY highlight, choose copy, open the text file, paste in the contents and then save it. This works fine but as you can imagine I'd like to automate the proceedure by having excel create and save the text file for me.

From what I've seen on these forums most people are wanting CSV type files but not me. I've already got the cell contents pieced together it just needs writing to a text file, no delimiters, no quote marks, just exactly what's in the one cell on one line, it's just one column remember (H2:H1456).

I'm not bothered about appending data either, a hard coded overwrite of the text file is fine by me.

The actual file type I ultimately need is an .abk file, but like I say this is just a basic text file that's been renamed. Could Excel create this or must it have the .txt file extension?

I have multiple workbooks in a directory and I need to copy a range of cells from 1 particular worksheet in each workbook and paste the data into the " consolidation workbook (Lar.xls)" that contains the macro I'm working on. I have found the code to open & close all of the workbooks and I can even get to the particular sheet in the workbooks but I cannot select and copy the range of cells that I need (I cannot get it to select any specific cell on the worksheet). Here's the code I'm using, have tried many different variations with the same problem.

Sub RunCodeOnAllXLSFiles()
Dim lCount As Long
Dim wbResults As Workbook
Dim wbCodeBook As Workbook
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
Application.DisplayAlerts = False
Application.EnableEvents = False
On Error Resume Next
Set wbCodeBook = ThisWorkbook
With Application.FileSearch
.NewSearch
'Change path to suit
.LookIn = "C:Temp1"
.FileType = msoFileTypeExcelWorkbooks
'.Filename = " Book*.xls"................................

Exporting A File With A Cell Value Name In Text Format
I've been doing this excel worksheet for work; even though I've never used excel macros or VBA before.(So if this is an easy question to answer don't laugh at me. :P) (I have worked with other programming languages though.) Anyway, using a VBA manual, I've done pretty well, until now. I'm trying to make a macro that when one clicks on the button it saves the file as a text tab delimited file, but giving it the name of whatever the user put into a specific cell. (And also without closing the excel file too, so they can add more if they have to) So I've gotten it now so that it saves with the correct name, but I am unsure about how to make it save as the text file I want. (At the moment it saves as an unreadable file) Any help would be great thanks.

Here is the ...

Data Import Automation - Multiple Csv Files

Copying Data In Specified Cells In Multiple Files To A New File
I have about a thousand Excel timesheets that all contain 'hours worked' data in a column. Each row contains the area of the project they have worked on and therefore the amount of time they have spent on it. The timesheets also contain the person's name and a w/e date.

I want to sequentially work through each timesheet held locally in a single folder and copy the person's name, w/e date and the hours held in the column into a single new spreadsheet. I need to transpose the data so each amount of time spent on an activity ends up in a column.

I have attempted to record a macro for this but each time I try and run it after the intitial run, it moves to a completely different cell or set of cells to the ones I have directed it and consequently there is no data copied to the new sheet.

I believe this is the first problem..! The second is working through a high number of spreadsheets held in a single locattion but whilst browsing this site I saw the "Excel VBA Loop Through a Folder of Excel Workbooks" page and think this should work fine.

Macro To Pull Data From Multiple Files With User Prompt
I need a macro which collects data from two files and dumps it into a separate spreadsheet. I need it to prompt the user to select the two files, since the file names may change.

Once a user selects the files, the macro simply opens them, grabs the data (the data sits on a single sheet in each file) and pastes it into a file, and closes the 2 data files.

The Data sits in A7:N20 on both files.

Nested Loop Not Working; Pulls Data From Multiple Files Into One Table
I've got this code that pulls data from multiple files into one table. the file name is in the top row, and each file's title, and two different sums display below that. Then it is supposed to loop through and display each task and the start and end date for that task within each file. After that the first loop brings it to the next column and file. The primary loop works fine, but the inner loop only seems to run once, as I get only the first result for each file. All I can figure is that maybe my row numbers aren't resetting like they're supposed to, or I'm completely overlooking something, which is likely, as VBA is by no means my forte.

Sub Worksheet_Calculate()
Dim sBook As String
On Error Resume Next
Application.EnableEvents = False
Col = 8
' Sets start column
Do
sBook = Cells(2, Col)
' References file name
TaskRow = 6 ........................

Saving Portions Of Selected Cell Data As New Text Files
I have a worksheet in my workbook that contains data for 25 different airfoils, each one in a cell space of 3 columns and 50 rows.
In order to do some analysis on these airfoils, I need to save each 3x50 as separate text file to define input for analysis code.
How can I do this in VB in one macro?
