Out of this file name it consist of the serial number (F30C3105E00) of the equipment which is the first set off italics/bold and time(08_39) and date (2013_09_10) this test was performed.
So My question is there a way or a vbs macro or anything that will be extract these three different information and save them in three different cells on the spreadsheet. BTW Also I should mention that these files are going to be stored on a network drive
PS- The only way I have figured out to do this is to create a .bat file that runs the dir command and saves it to a text file.
I have certain excel file that i want to be able to write a macro in order for it to extract certain information from certain cells on different sheet. In other words, i want cell A2 from each of the three different worksheet i have under different files. And have those data automatically update a master excel or access file whichever might be easier.
I'm using Excel 2010. I have a workbook that has six or seven worksheets in it. Each worksheet has a header row, and then lists of clients at the clinic where I work. The columns are last name, first name, medicaid #, social security #, DOB. We use these lists every month to verify that each client has Medicaid for the month. Therefore, there are also columns with names like April, May, June where we mark yes or no for each client. Some of the worksheets also have information about the clients' guardian, phone number, etc., but not every worksheet has those. (I can't show you the worksheets b/c of federal privacy laws, of course.)
I really, really want a worksheet that's a master list of the data from each of the existing worksheets, and I'd like to keep it synced to the source worksheets. I'd love it if I could also add a column telling me which of the source worksheets the data originally came from.
I've tried a few things to make it happen, but nothing has worked.
I've tried using the Consolidate function built into Excel as well, but that only works with numbers, not text, and it wants to manipulate the numbers instead of just copying them over.
I've found several macros online that should have worked (including one from this site) but that I wasn't able to install to my worksheet. I followed all the steps for installation, and throught it worked, but when I went back to the Excel file to run the macro, the list of available macros remained emptpy.
Is it possible that corporate IT has disabled the ability to install macros? Is there somewhere in Options were I need to go to turn Macros on?
I have a directory folder with an active workbook and another workbook id like to copy data from. The Following macro opens up a file in the same directory, copies some data and pastes it in the active workbook. However with this code I have to specify the filename, 'Data.xlsm' in the example code. I would like it to copy data from the only other workbook in the current directory WITHOUT having to specify the name in the code, so just opening it up no matter what filename it has.
In addition I would like to extract the filename from the workbook im copying data from and paste it into the activewoorkbook in sheet 1 Cell A1. I had a look at getopenfilename function but cant seem to make it work for my purpose.
I have a work book that I have to copy over 70 times for over 70 work locations. As you can see, this will require different file names for each location.
I would like some have help with a code that I can use. If possialbe I like a code that will make copies of the file renaming each with the names I have on another list. Is this feasible?
I need to extract the month name from a cell. E.g In one cell I have a time stamp, which comes up in this formart.
Cell A1 is "5/30/2007 10:03:37 AM". Basically i want cell B2 to say "May". Please note this format is using the american date format where the order is month/date/year.
Is there a way to do this? Remember one cannot look at just the first digit as what happens for months 10 & above? At the moment I do this manually.
I have csv files auto generated (with date stamp in name) and saved in a specific folder everyday. I need to find a macro that will copy the row(s) every day and add to the next empty row in the master excel file. Some days the csv file may have a single row of data and on some other days it may have multiple rows of data to copy and paste.
Set CopyRng = Wkb.worksheet1.Range(Cells(RowofCopyworksheet, 1), Cells(Cells(Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).Row, Cells(1, Columns.Count).End(xlToLeft).Column))
I am trying to copy the first sheet in each file in the designated folder and paste it into a master worksheet.
Below is the code.
'Description: Combines all files in a specific folder to Format File for Upload.xls Sub MergeMultipleFiles() Dim path As String, ThisWB As String, lngFilecounter As Long Dim wbDest As Workbook, shtDest As Worksheet, ws As Worksheet Dim filename As String, Wkb As Workbook Dim CopyRng As Range, Dest As Range Dim RowofCopySheet As Integer
I have a worksheet with many tables that I use in formulas.
I like tables for a couple reasons, one being the ability to insert/delete rows without affecting the rest of that worksheet row.
Also, automatic copy of formulas/formatting is great.
But, what I really like about tables is the ability to use the naming conventions in formulas.
Problem is when I save this worksheet, after I close it and open it back up, all table references in my formulas have been converted to cell references.
Example:
Code:
=IF((SUMIF('Quote 1'!$M$28:$M$43,">"&'Quote 1'!$J$57:$J$60)*'Quote 1'!$G$57:$G$60)+(COUNTIF('Quote 1'!$M$28:$M$43,""&'Quote 1'!$J$57:$J$60)*'Quote 1'!$G$57:$G$60)+(COUNTIF('Quote 1'!$M$28:$M$43,""&tblOSSRV[Min Order Cost])*tblOSSRV[Cost / Part])+(COUNTIF(tblFam[[#Data],[Qty by Factor2]],""&tblOSSRV[Min Parts Per Line])*tblOSSRV[Cost / Part])+(COUNTIF(tblFam[[#Data],[Qty by Factor2]],"
I have a lot of files with data that i need to copy into a master file.
I could open each file copy the data i need and paste it into the file. But I know there must be a way to do a loop macro.
All the files are labled "Sauce Data "Date"". all the data is in the same place in each file. I can easy have a list of all these file names in a tab in a main file "Main Data".
I what to be able to open each file copy from tab "Sauce info" A1:B65, and paste into "Main Data", tab "main" and then create a long list of data.
1) I'm relatively new to arrays, but what I need to do is generate a list of file names and the sheets within each one. I would like to use an array for this, but since I don't have much experience.... well....that's why I'm here. Can someone point me in the right direction?
2) And the second part of this.... I was planning on using the FileSystemObject to determine the files in a selected folder and loop through that list of files, opening each one and harvesting the required info (file name and all sheet names). Should I use the FSO or is there something built into Excel that might be better (and also limit the number of dependencies for this little "project" of mine).
I have a column containing names, blank spaces, numbers, a bunch of miscellaneous things. However all I want to do is extract only names, into another sheet, and not the numbers, blank spaces, etc. Youi'll see what I mean when you open the attachment. Offset isn't an option because the names don't appear in the column in an organized fashion.
I am a lacrosse coach and am keeping track of key stats that our team values that cannot be found in the box score (ex: 'Secondary Assists'). To do this we have created a group of rather simple Excel spreadsheets to keep track of these. We have one master file will all the total data from the season and 10 or so secondary files for each game that we played. To this point, I have been adding the data from the different game files to the master file manually and it is very time consuming.
My question, is it possible to copy a row of data from one of the secondary files and have excel add that data to the existing data in the master file?
I need to make this macro read FOLDER names instead of FILE names. When I posted this question yesterday to get this macro, I wasn't told that each file in its own folder. I need the folder names now. _____________________________________
Sub test() With Application.FileSearch .NewSearch .LookIn = "C:Ford" .SearchSubFolders = False .Filename = "*.*" .FileType = msoFileTypeAllFiles If .Execute() > 0 Then For i = 1 To .FoundFiles.Count Cells(i, 1) = .FoundFiles(i) Next i Else Cells(i, 1) = "No files Found" End If End With End Sub
Each month I get a report that is formatted by the customers and this sheet never changes. The problem is that the master sheet my job uses is not formatted this way. The master workbook has several sheets that breaks down the data from the monthly sheet. Instead of having to enter the data manually I'm looking for a way to export the data from the monthly sheets into the master workbook. As I stated the sheets are all the same but come from different providers and all contain the same amount/style of data.
I receive a monthly download of individuals call-logs in one "Master File." For internal reasons, I need to separate every person's monthly call-log into individual worksheets. Unfortunately, the file is very large and copy/paste is very time consuming. I am operating on MS Excel 2007.
I'm trying to consolidate data from many worksheet to a master worksheet. So far, thanks to the help of some experts, i've got this code. But i need to tweak it further to suit my requirements.
Sub CopyDataToConsol() Dim Sht1 As Worksheet Dim Sht2 As Worksheet Dim SrcRg As Range
How can i tweak the above code to:
1) copy the lastest updated row to the Master sheet, instead of copying the whole set of data over and over again..
The code below looks at file names in column A and then goes to a folder and opens and copies the data in range c2 -lastrow from each file and pastes the data into sheet2.
how I could add to the code so that it also inserts the file name in column c?
It would make it easier to track the data in column B.
VB: Sub CopyFromFile() Dim fPath As String Dim lRow As Long
[Code].....
I have attached a sample workbook. The list of file name is in sheet 1. An example of the output is in sheet 2. The data in column A is dummy data generally spans 100's of rows not just 10 as in the example.
The purpose of the code is to be able to put a list of file names in column a in sheet 1 and extract data from those files in a folder. The data extraction works fine. The reson for adding the file names is so that I know what file the data came from.
I've attached 2 test files, one is the database master file containing the projects (each row represents a project, unique reference number in column A) and the other is the blank template file i'm hoping to export data into and then save down with the naming convention "column A_column B.xlsx"
Kept the test files simple but would need to modify any code to apply to much larger database consisting of many more fields etc.
How to get updated data from connected 3 XL workbooks.(files)
1= ODBC connection ( This brings data from a Basis Query) it will updated 1 or max 2 times a day.
2= Manuel input ( It will update after inserting new data, many times a day) Password protected
3= This One is my master file which brings data in 2 different sheets from above mentioned files. Password protected
My problem is started when i want to see latest updates from file 1 & 2 in my Master file then i have to re-open my Master file, Is it any option which fulfill my requirement that i will keep my main file update just by clicking <save> & I will not re-open file at all times ?
I can't have a shared file. & my all these 3 files are in the same folder.
simple Formula used to bring results are =[Book1]Sheet1!$A1
I have master file (workbook) and 20 workbooks for 20 employes. All have the same columns excepte the master have the column (employe name),i want update master file from all 20 workbooks.
Master file
Column 1 = Employes name column 2 = Requisition number column 3 = amount of the requisition
Employee workbooks
column 1 = Requisition number column 2 = amount of the requisition
I have a list of file names in an excel sheet. The requirement is to find the extension of each file in the next column. For example file name 123.456.789.jpg extension jpg
file name 123.abcd.789.xlam extension xlam
is there a worksheet function equal to InStrRev in vba?
I have a macro that lists all documents in a selected folder and am looking to add the author/owner, created on date, last saved date as shown in the document properties.
i have file A3R-(345).xls, B1Z-(235).xls etc files inside folder called MyFolder.
another master file Master.xls which will extract data from files inside folder MyFolder.
what i need is to put values from file names inside Master.xls. It will loop through all files inside that folder and extract the numbers between (). So column A in Master file will have: 345 235 ..
How to do this using VBA? (only Master File should have the VBA code)
I have been trying something like this before, i could not get it fixed. Let's give it another go:
I have a number of files in a specific folder. I need to extract values from cell Sheet1!G42 out of [b]every file[b] in this folder. Problem that occurs, is that I do not know how many files are in this folder, neighter do I know what the filenames are. I need some magic to perform extraction of the desired values.
As for the files in the specified folder I have this VBA code, that suits my needs just fine:
Private Sub Workbook_Open() Dim fileList() As String Dim fName As String Dim fPath As String Dim I As Integer
This code will display all found files, including their path in column AD. (as plain text) [b]Question that remains:[b] how am I to fix a formula In (column AE) that will extract the value found in Sheet1!G42 of each file? This must be very easy, but i can’t get this to work….
