I have the following code that I want to download everyfile at the listed ftp site to a folder on my computer. I was thinking about trying to make a key with dates in thisworkbook sheet1 starting in cell A1 and have it loop through.
Code:
Private Declare Function URLDownloadToFile Lib "urlmon" Alias "URLDownloadToFileA" (ByVal pCaller As Long, ByVal szURL As String, ByVal szFileName As String, ByVal dwReserved As Long, ByVal lpfnCB As Long) As Long
I have created some code that directs me to a web page, and i use send keys to navigate my way to the input field. In this input field I am trying to put a cell value in a range use send keys to download the file, and the repeat the process for the next cell.
Here is my code so far, it does everything right up until pasting the copied cell into the input section of the web page - the issue is it is pasting nothing
I am trying to open a website, then for excel to download the csv file, then for it to save it in a specific folder under a specific name and file format (excel).
I am successful at opening the website with the following code, but how to do the rest.
Sub Searchez() Dim IE As Object Set IE = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application") IE.Navigate "http://quote.morningstar.ca/Quicktakes/stock/keyratios.aspx?t=clwr®ion=USA&culture=en-CA&ops=clear" 'load web page google.com IE.Visible = True While IE.Busy DoEvents Wend
'IE.Navigate2 "javascript:SRT_keystuts.exportcsv()" 'this is the name of the download link as from when i hover my pointer over download link. End Sub
I have a requirement to download a lot of historical data files from the archieve of an website. The url goes something like this: [URL]....
This downloads file for 21022014 ie. 21-Feb-2014. I need to be able to have a facility to have a selection criteria on my user form (in excel) where I specify a date range and the macro automatically downloads all the valid excel files available within that date range (files for Saturday, Sunday and some holiday dates will not be available in the website archive database) one after the other (like at single clcik of button) into a specific location (predefined viz.. c:/Users/EOD files/) on my laptop. Best would be if I am able to select the save location run time by using a 'Browse' like feature where I go and choose my local laptop folder...same type when we try uploading a file from our laptop to the web..
I have been working on automating IE. Part of my task involves using explorer to download a file from a given url and save it to disk. I've figured out how to launch explorer and start the download, but then a dialogue box appears asking whether to save the file and where to save it. how do I automatically get past this and save the file to e.g "quotes.xls"?
how can i use VBA tp download a file from a webpage? I've found the following that would display the source code of a webpage. I need to download a zip file and save it to the desktop. What alterations do I have to make?
Code:
Sub Downloadfile() Dim objHttp As Object Set objHttp = CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP") Call objHttp.Open("GET", "http:\yahoo.com", False) Call objHttp.Send("") Call MsgBox(objHttp.ResponseText) End Sub
How to save a file onto the computer using VBA. The code template below that I found on another forum seems promising, except when I go to the desktop to access it, the .csv file has what looks like the page's source code instead of the actual file I want. This may be because when I go to the url, it doesn't automatically download the file; rather, I am asked to save the file to a certain location (since I don't know the path name of the uploaded file on the site).
Is there any way to alter this code to accommodate this, or will I have to use a different code entirely?
VB: Sub Test() Dim FileNum As Long Dim FileData() As Byte Dim MyFile As String Dim WHTTP As Object
I have an excel file which contains 9 columns. Column A contains an article number i.e 12345 . Column B contains name of the product. Columns C and D contain Description and Specifications respectively. Columns E,F,G,H and I contain URL:s of images.
I want to do following.
1. Download all the images in a folder on my harddisk.
2. Copy the text in column C and place it under the text in column D.
note that I am a novice at excel and have never used macros/Javascript/VBA/etc
have a link such as www.abc.se/downloadfile?file=12345. When opening this link in a browser the DownloadFile window popups and the file can be downloaded.
I would like to be able to download the file without involving the DownloadFile pop up (since some users have auto open enabled thus the downloadfile pop-up is not always shown)
I have tried URLDownloadToCacheFile and similiar methods but they fail as they dont have the direct link to the file.
So my question now is how can I extract the direct url?
There should be a way to capture it since it will be used in the downloadfile dialog.
I have a program operating in excel 2007 that extracts a picture from a URL and puts it into a PPT slide. I now discover that PPT 2007 doesn't allow this.
So my intent now is to download the jpg into a local file and then import into the PPT.
This is from a couple of sites: [url] [url]
At the top of the code:
Option Explicit
Private Declare Function URLDownloadToFile Lib "urlmon" Alias "URLDownloadToFileA" _ (ByVal pCaller As Long, _ ByVal szURL As String, _ ByVal szFileName As String, _ ByVal dwReserved As Long, _ ByVal lpfnCB As Long) As Long
in the excel cell if a URL picture needs to be inserted it starts with the prefix "picture=" then the http address.
This did not work.
So I then copied the code from the websites into a module (changing the destination file and URL to mine of course) and called the procedure and still nothing.
complete the attached code (Excel VBA) to automatically process a File Download dialog from Internet Explorer. I want to click "Save" which will produce the "Save As" dialog. Then I need to enter a default filename like (C:Temp) and click "Save" again. When this is working, I will hide Internet Explorer to make the operation completely transparent to the user. The URL is a sample chosen specifically for this test case.
Public Sub Report_Test()
Dim objIE As SHDocVw.InternetExplorer Dim strURL As String Dim varItem As Variant
' Establish connection to the Internet Explorer application. Set objIE = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application")
' Set Internet Explorer visible. objIE.Visible = True
I'm trying to download an Excel file from the internet and then extract data out of it. The problem is that I don't get any errors, yet the file downloaded is only 1kb in size. The extraction bit works, but the file is empty. The actual file is size 350KB.
Code: Sub ExtractDataTest()
Dim FileNum As Long Dim FileData() As Byte Dim MyFile As String Dim WHTTP As Object
How to download the zip file from internet explorer and save it into c: using VBA codes.
I have tried many codes from the internet but none of them are working. i am facing problem for the popup box. the macro which i have found was not supporting to it.
I would like to know if there is a way to compare the current file in a loop with the next file in the loop without writing two loops. Here is the code I have, and in red is the code I would like to have it do. I just don't know if it's possible with this type of loop.
Code: preface = Format(lPrefaceNo, "0000") Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") Set mainFolder = objFSO.GetFolder("S:")
I have a folder that has multiple files that i would like to pull data from. This data is in the same cell in each file so all i would like to do is add the total value up at the end once it finished looping through all the files and display it on my sheet. Some of these files could have 1 worksheet where others might have 3-4. If I only have 1 file in the folder it works perfectly fine but as soon as the second file opens i get a Subscript Out of Range error (See code below for the line this error occurs on).
Is there a simple way to loop through and filter the values in col1, then save it to a file named by the filtered value? Would be good if it could keep all the formatting as well.
I have a For loop, its an array with 5 file names in it. The loop checks for the files in the path, and if the file is there it places the file in the corresponding sheet in the workbook. If it is not, I get the option to browse for the file. Originally all 5 files were required, however now the requirements changed and only 4 are required the last file "byband.csv" is not required. So they want the option a message box telling the user the file is not required they can browse or keep going.
I worked out the second part but only by taking "byband.csv" out of the loop and writing a separate procedure for it, I wondered if in my original procedure I could isolate "byband" and if not found go to another part of the procedure. Basically, I needed to do the following:
If the file in the array byBand.csv is not found, Then:
vmbProceed = MsgBox(strFifthImportFile & strMessage, vbYesNo + vbQuestion, strTitle) If vmbProceed = vbNo Then Exit Sub Else
go to Line 1 in the procedure below.
Code:
Sub import_Employee_Data()
'This is Step 1 when the frmDataImportSplash is activated. 'This procedure imports the byEmployee.csv sheet. The procedure checks if the file is 'in the same directory as the template. If the file is not there, a browser window appears to allow the user 'to browse for the missing file. A series of message boxes guide the user through the process and 'verifies that the user picked the right file. The user can cancel the import at any time.
Dim strPath As String Dim strFirstImportFile As Variant
I need a macro to loop through a dir and the sub directories to find xlsm files, when it finds one open, go to the sheet named data, look at c1 and if the value is between 12.1 and 13.4 then i need it to write the file path, filename to a1 in my excell sheet and then write the value from c1 in the original file to A2 of line in my excel sheet.
I have hobbled pieces of code together without any good results.
My problem is that I want to loop through a directory that contains csv files. The directory is dynamic so everytime could be a different number of files inside. I want the loop to go through each file and check if that file exists. If it doesn't to print a message that this specific files doesn't exist. Until now I got the following code:
[Code] .........
I guess I should somehow place the counter j inside the Dir path in order to check if everytime time the file[j] exists?
Code that loops through all folders in a directory, to check each workbook in each of those folders. If any workbook name in any of these folders matches a predefined string, then open this workbook for some other codes to run.
I have been trying to process Excel files in a directory with the following
Sub FindExcelFiles() Dim foldername As String Dim FSO As Object Dim fldr As Object Dim file As Object Dim cnt As Long foldername = "c:usersseagreendesktopTuesdayFeb102009week ending feb 7 2009 esting2" Set FSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FilesystemObject") Set fldr = FSO.GetFolder(foldername) For Each file In fldr.Files If file.Type Like "*Microsoft Office Excel*" Then cnt = cnt + 1 End If Application.StatusBar = "Now working on " & ActiveWorkbook.FullName DoSomething ActiveWorkbook Next file Set file = Nothing Set fldr = Nothing Set FSO = Nothing Range("A1").Value = cnt End Sub Here's the stub for the subroutine that's being called:
Sub DoSomething(inBook As Workbook) 'Massage each workbook 'Debug.Print "Hello" Debug.Print ActiveWorkbook.FullName End Sub I am using Excel 2007. I found out I cannot use Application.Filesearch as Microsoft has dropped this method for 2007. My problem now is that I just see "Now working on c:usersseagreendesktopTuesdayFeb102009week ending feb 7 2009 esting2file1.xls written six times in the immediate window.
I have developed a user form in VBA which is used for entry into an excel worksheet. From this data, I need to do the following:
1) Create 2 output files for Job data entitled "J" and another file entitled "S". The "J" and "S" is captured in a field in the data. I need to hit a button that allows these 2 output files to be produced, so I need to 'loop' through rows of the data to do this/
2) In addition to 1), the user needs to be able to 'select' the date range they would like to see 'J' and 'S' data over. This will be based on a field called "Startdate'. How could I do this with the button above-can I parse an input value to a form and select the 'J' and 'S' files on this.
What I have is a master file that needs to pull info from other sources (a simple copy and paste) those files are called Inventory_xxxx.xlsm . Inside the master file, there are cells with the number of the inventory.
What i need is a way to tell excel to check what number is in the cell, open the files with that number, get the info from the files and paste it back in the master file... and the part that i consider the trickiest, a way to loop it.
For example, lets say i have 2248 in cell A10, it should open Inventory_2248.xlsm copy the contents from cell N4, O4, P4, Q4, R4 and S4(Inventory File) into N10,R10,S10,T10 and U10 (Master file) respectively then in A11, there could be a 2250 so it should open the 2250 file get the info, paste it and so on.....
Now I don't even know if this is do-able or just impossible, been fiddling with various codes to no avail.
I am trying write code withVBA to save separate file in a different folder with Loop.
Write a code with "loop" till it finds empty cell in the column and for every change in number a separate file needs to be saved in specified folder with file name as "10010, 10011,10012... and so on with data copied in the file saved.
I was wondering if anyone had any code to loop through every file in a folder and list the file name along with every sheet name in that file? I'm using Excel 2007.
I am trying to open set of excel files to fetch data starting from a master excel file where the links are given using a loop. Some of files given as links are either absent or the link is wrong.
* What is the syntax to find if the link is correct/present
* What is the syntax to find if the file is present in specified location
* What is the syntax to find if the file is password protected to open
* I use error handler to resume the next statement if OPEN statement fails. It works fine inside the loop only for first two files.
For example if the third link is errorneous the error handler fails and RUN TIME ERROR occurs.
