Filling To Right So Don't Have To Edit Four Parts Of Formula 350 Times

Jan 19, 2014

I have this huge formula and I want to run it in one row, across 350 columns:

=IF(IF(ISERROR(INDEX('Allocated & Spent'!$G$11:$G$307,SMALL(IF('Allocated & Spent'!$F$11:$F$307="x",ROW('Allocated & Spent'!$G$11:$G$307)),ROW(3:3))-10,1)),"",INDEX('Allocated & Spent'!$G$11:$G$307,SMALL(IF('Allocated & Spent'!$F$11:$F$307="x",ROW('Allocated & Spent'!$G$11:$G$307)),ROW(3:3))-10,1))="","/////",IF(ISERROR(INDEX('Allocated & Spent'!$G$11:$G$307,SMALL(IF('Allocated & Spent'!$F$11:$F$307="x",ROW('Allocated & Spent'!$G$11:$G$307)),ROW(3:3))-10,1)),"",INDEX('Allocated & Spent'!$G$11:$G$307,SMALL(IF('Allocated & Spent'!$F$11:$F$307="x",ROW('Allocated & Spent'!$G$11:$G$307)),ROW(3:3))-10,1)))

The only thing I need to change from one column to the next is the four places where it says ROW(3:3). I need that to ratchet up as it goes across to the next. The cell to the right should say:

=IF(IF(ISERROR(INDEX('Allocated & Spent'!$G$11:$G$307,SMALL(IF('Allocated & Spent'!$F$11:$F$307="x",ROW('Allocated & Spent'!$G$11:$G$307)),ROW(4:4))-10,1)),"",INDEX('Allocated & Spent'!$G$11:$G$307,SMALL(IF('Allocated & Spent'!$F$11:$F$307="x",ROW('Allocated & Spent'!$G$11:$G$307)),ROW(4:4))-10,1))="","/////",IF(ISERROR(INDEX('Allocated & Spent'!$G$11:$G$307,SMALL(IF('Allocated & Spent'!$F$11:$F$307="x",ROW('Allocated & Spent'!$G$11:$G$307)),ROW(4:4))-10,1)),"",INDEX('Allocated & Spent'!$G$11:$G$307,SMALL(IF('Allocated & Spent'!$F$11:$F$307="x",ROW('Allocated & Spent'!$G$11:$G$307)),ROW(4:4))-10,1)))

Then the next cell to the right should say:

=IF(IF(ISERROR(INDEX('Allocated & Spent'!$G$11:$G$307,SMALL(IF('Allocated & Spent'!$F$11:$F$307="x",ROW('Allocated & Spent'!$G$11:$G$307)),ROW(5:5))-10,1)),"",INDEX('Allocated & Spent'!$G$11:$G$307,SMALL(IF('Allocated & Spent'!$F$11:$F$307="x",ROW('Allocated & Spent'!$G$11:$G$307)),ROW(5:5))-10,1))="","/////",IF(ISERROR(INDEX('Allocated & Spent'!$G$11:$G$307,SMALL(IF('Allocated & Spent'!$F$11:$F$307="x",ROW('Allocated & Spent'!$G$11:$G$307)),ROW(5:5))-10,1)),"",INDEX('Allocated & Spent'!$G$11:$G$307,SMALL(IF('Allocated & Spent'!$F$11:$F$307="x",ROW('Allocated & Spent'!$G$11:$G$307)),ROW(5:5))-10,1)))

etc., etc.

How can I fill across so those go up and I don't have to fill in those four numbers 350 times?!

Pivot Table - Edit What Parts Of Data Source Appear?

May 22, 2014

I noticed that when I click on a cell in my Pivot Table a new worksheet pops up with the requested information (essentially a filtered version of my data source depending on what cell I clicked) is there a way for that information to appear on the same worksheet as my Pivot Table? And if so can I also edit what parts of the data source appear?

Print Parts In Portrait Parts In Landscape

I have a document needed to be printed with some pages in the middle in landscape page type, the rest in portrait. If using Word it would be easier, but in Excel I cant find the section break to chage page setup separately. Is there anyway to do it. Currently I'm printing the document separately in portrait and then landscape with some page break added and page number modified. However it's quite troublesome and easy to make mistake.

Lookup Function: Compare Every Part In The All Parts Worksheet To See If The Part Number Exists On The Active Parts Sheet

Dec 10, 2008

I have a spreadsheet with 2 worksheets. On the first "active parts" I have a list of active part numbers and on the second "All Parts" I have all of the parts available.

I want to compare every part in the All Parts worksheet to see if the part number exists on the Active Parts sheet - if it's there, I would like it to return the value "Active" in column B in All Parts. I have a formula in column B in All Parts that seems to work for the first few, but as soon as it finds one that is active, the rest of the cells below all return "Active".

Excel Formula To Calculate Difference In Times But Only Between Specific Times

Apr 8, 2014

I'm looking for a formula that will calculate the difference in times between specific times while working with a 24 hr clock. Please see details below:

E3 provides the start time of 4:00
H3 provides an end time of 15:30

If an employee works betwen the hours of 0:00 (midnight) to 5:59, this is considered DIFF hours and is therefore the number I am seaking. So for the data noted above, the total DIFF hours worked is 2 hours.

How Do I Set Up A Formula For Parts (or Units) Per Hour

Apr 12, 2006

I'm trying to set up a spreadsheet that tracks total hours worked and total
units produced. Then I need to have a column that shows how many units per
hour were produced.

Currently, I have something like this:
Column A is in elapsed time [h]:mm
Column B is a Number with two decimal places
Column C divides Column B by Column A

However, I get strange results. For example:
Column A is 6:24:00
Column B is 13
Column C shows 120.00

13 parts in 6:24 hours should be something like 2.1666 parts per hour!

Search Parts Of Columns Looking For Matches In Parts Of Other Columns In A Row

Mar 1, 2014

I have sheets with names of people in columns....some married...some not. When they are married, here's a sample format...

Jones, Donald T | Baker, Sarah Jane | Jones, Sarah Jane | Smith, Sarah J | Jones, Sarah Jane Smith

In this example, I would like to be able to determine which of the Sarah's belongs to Donald w/o having to visually look at each record ( 100,000's of records). (FYI: the names for Sarah would/could be her Maiden Name and possibly a name or two from a former marriage). What I need to be able to do is match and extract the names of Jones, Donald T and Jones, Sarah Jane and Jones, Sarah Jane Smith and eliminate Smith, Sarah J and Baker, Sarah Jane.

In my example, Donald is in the first column, but can be in any column on a row so the name positions are random across the columns. However, the format for each column is then same...Last Name, First Name Middle Name(or Initial) with a comma always after the last name in each column. The length of the last name also varies.

VBA or Formula that will search the cells in the columns of each row and return the names (complete contents of the cells with matching last names) that have a matching last name for that row.

VBA - SUMIFS Formula Not Updating Cell When Filling Down?

Jul 27, 2012

I have the below formula working correctly. However the issue is when it pastes and fills down values its using H1 reference in the formula even when it goes to the next column. So basically when it goes to cell I2 it should update the sumifs formula to lookup I1 instead of H1 and so on and so forth for all columns till the loop stops.

VB:
Sheet1.Activate
Dim frmla As String
frmla = "=SUMIFS($C:$C,$A:$A,H$1,$B:$B,$G2)"
Range("H2").Activate
Do Until ActiveCell.Offset(-1, 0) = ""
ActiveCell = frmla
ActiveCell.Offset(0, -1).End(xlDown).Offset(0, 1).Activate
Range(ActiveCell, ActiveCell.End(xlUp)).Select
Selection.FillDown
ActiveCell.Offset(0, 1).Activate

Index Row Reference When Filling Formula Across Columns

Oct 16, 2013

In Column A, starting in row 8, I have a list of part nos. This list can be any number of rows long.

Further down the sheet, I want to put that same list into a horizontal array. I currently have this formula in the first column. It will, of course, pull the value from the 1st row.

=IF(ISBLANK(A8),"",A8)

However, when I fill across all of my columns, it changes the Cell reference to B8, C8, etc. whereas I need it to change to A9, A10, etc.

Writing a formula that will index the ROW reference as I fill across?

I found this page, but I guess I am too novice to comprehend it. [url]

I would like the number in this formula to increment when i copy it to the adjacent column.

This formula is in B178.

=IF(B8="x",A8,"")

So in C178 I want it to be

Increment Part Of Formula Row Reference When Filling Across

Jan 15, 2008

I have a spreadsheet containing quite a few lookups etc. I am trying to copy a cell across about 10 columns. This has to be done for about 50 different rows on about 20 different sheets, so I am looking for an alteration to the formula to help me rather than typing in the formula over and over;

='Basic Labour'!AD6*Rates!$E$526

Say this is in AD6, then in AE6 I would require

='Basic Labour'!AE6*Rates!$E$527

and so on across the region to be autofilled...

(It is multiplying the same cell in a different sheet against the 'next row down' in a rates lookup sheet).

Edit Cell Formula Using VBA

I've got this small (?) problem here. In a range of about 150 rows and 30 colums, I have to edit the cell formula, i.e. add something to the existing formula. For instance, in all the cells in column C I need to add " + D9" to the existing formula, in all the cells of column D I have to add " + E9". Is there a way to do this in VBA ? I would already happy to do it column by column, but I'm really reluctant to edit 4500 cells manually.

Edit Excel Formula Links To Use Environment Variables Instead Of Static Absolute Paths

Sep 30, 2013

Is there a way that formula links in spreadsheets can use environment variables to reference formulas in other spreadsheets/addins?

For example, I have a spreadsheet that imports templates which call functions in an addin. The spreadsheet, templates and the addin could be installed into either the 'Program Files' or the 'Program Files (x86)' folders.

I am experiencing issues with the formula references when moved between 32 and 64 bit computers since Excel seems to store the full path of the addin in the Excel formula (even though it hides it when the reference resolves its path) in my templates. I would like to update the references in my templates so that they use an environment variable (set by my software installer) to always know the correct path of the addin.

In Excel 2003, spreadsheet links are edited via: 'Edit'->'Links'
In Excel 2007 and higher,'Data'->'Edit Links'

Use A Formula A Set Number Of Times

Feb 3, 2009

Is it possible to determine how many times a formula will be used? Here’s my problem.

I have items that are bought, and then altered. So I need a cell to determine how any times my ‘IF’ formula is used. My current formula is:

Formula entered into D3.

=IF(D2>0,D2,””)

Row 2 is the amount and Row 1 are dates.

If I drag the formula to the right, E2 will be equal to 0 so will enter 0. But I need it to say what ever is in D2 3 times. (As this particular item takes 3 weeks to do) So D2 & E2 & F3 will all have whatever was entered in D2.
