Find String Of Text Plus Cell Index Color?
May 3, 2013I am trying to come up with a macro that will search a range for a specific string of text plus Interior.ColorIndex = 4. The range can have the text in it multiple times but i only want the macro to fire the next line of it if the cell address also has that color. Is there a way that can be done? My code below stops after it finds its first occurrence of the string and moves on to the next lookup. How do i make it look for not only the value but the index color?

In N42:N72 there is a corresponding $ amount that I would like to return based on finding the value which is greater than 4.7 (so, looking to match the $$ amount to the number 5 in column H42:H72)
I've tried using INDEX MATCH but can't figure this out.
Find Column Number And Then Use Index Function
May 28, 2008I have a database with over 100 products listed across the first row.
Column a has a list of over 500 projects. Across each project various columns are marked with a number depending on how many of each products are being used on that project.
For Example
A B C D E etc.
Products --> X Y Z AA
Proj 1 2 3
Proj 2 1 4 5
Proj 3 2 4
etc.
I want to be able to create a report for any given product.
The report could look like,
Product Z
Proj 1 3
Proj 3 2
So I need to lookup the product code across row 1 and determine the column number and then INDEX down that column and find all non blank cells and read the project names from column A.
I am familiar with formulas with INDEX and V/H LOOKUP functions. I am not very good with VBA codes.

Mar 19, 2007i would like to add some sorting code by colors and i need to add the color index into a column in the same file + below formula = colorindexofcell(a1,false,true) i need to exclude 2 columns for deleting the report.To reason for that everyday we run the report and next time there are new entries and report needs to be run again
when i double click anywhere on report sheet it deletes the colorindex and formula column as well is there anyway to modify below code by excluding two rows such as "ag" and "ah" column,for deleting process

Font Color Index
Apr 23, 2007I have a spreadsheet which has some cells with blue font. If anyone tries to manually change the contents of these cells a worksheet change macro reads the colour index of the font and, if it is 5 (blue), uses "application.undo" to repair the damage.
When I use the sheet on another computer, the same font colur is being read as a four digit number, 4015 I think from memory, and the code doesn't work.

Jun 18, 2009When I launch excel 2007, i have cells with a grey border. I'm not sure what the colorindex is of this border.
Through a macro, when I format cells, I use
Cells(x,y).BorderAround ColorIndex:=xlAutomatic
xlAutomatic points to BLACK by default. Could someone tell me how I could reference the actual default colorindex (the grey one which seems to border all other cells, while not being xlAutomatic)?

Jul 9, 2009I have a worksheet with several columns and 1,000's of rows. I have code that makes all "good cells" grey (color index 15) and all "bad cells" red (color index 3).
I would like to do 2 things...
1. If ANY cell is RED, cut the WHOLE ROW and "insert cut cells" below the header row (even if ALL other cells are grey), then repeat the process up the whole worksheet until ANY row with a red cell is at the top.
2. Create a new worksheet named "Trouble Cells", copy the header row along with any rows with red cells.
I would like to keep the formatting the same (for example, the title row is always yellow and is "28" high and all other rows are a height of "12").
I would also like to keep the column width of each column in the new worksheet as well.

Loop Through Range By Color Index
Jun 16, 2007I have a bit of VBA code that loops through a range and looks at the color index. If it is color index three then it will put a "1" in the cell six columns over. This code works, but I see over and over again that loops are bad and inefficient. Since I am working on my code being more efficient I wanted suggestions for altrenate code that would do basically the same thing.

Column Y-has Y, N entered in cells
Column R-has 1,2, etc... entered in cells (some cells have color index 26)
Column O-has 1, 2, etc... entered in cells (some cells have color index 3)
Column G-has names entered entered in cells (some cells have color index 38)
I need the macro to check if Column Y has a "N" and then if it does check Column R, O, G and if there is no color index in any of the Columns the macro will delete the row.
If Column Y has a "N" but Column R, O, G has a color index it will not delete the row.
There are 3000 rows on the spreadsheet and the macro would need to go through all the rows.

INDEX, LOOKUP Or Find The Top 5 MAX Orders
Jan 20, 2004Columns F looks at another table within the same worksheet for the Customer Code that has the MOST Orders in Column B.....then places the Tot Orders amount in F2..... Cust Codes in Column E and the Cum Values into Col G ( that's already been accumulated and housed in column C ).
Cell F3 then go looks up the next largest order in Column B and pulls over the adjacent Customer Code & Cum Value to the E,F,G table again.
Basically there's 3 functions:
1 in E2
1 in F2
1 in G2
All to copy downward within that table

So in VBA, I need to figure a way to give me the cell address of the matching cell in Comments. So say Customer ID starts at A1 ... that means the Comment for Customer A is B2.
How would I get that reference in VBA?

Nov 12, 2008Is it possible to use Match to find a value within a Named range and then, based on that value, use Match and Index again to find a value two columns across?
I have a list of clients in Column A, with 10 cells between each. In Column B, I have a list of currencies (the same currencies next to each client) and in Column C the rate this client pays for this currency. I want to reference these rates from an external workbook. Is there any way to use Match to locate the client name, then use Index/Match to locate the rate for a particular currency, somehow telling Excel where to look the second time?
Use Index / Match To Find A Value In Column But Ignore One Value
Mar 13, 2013I'm using Index/Match to find a value in another workbook, but there is one value that I want to ignore. For example here is my function --
=INDEX(ZZANALYSIS_PATTERN.xls!$A:$H,MATCH(D8,ZZANALYSIS_PATTERN.xls!$G:$G,0),2)
In D8, the value is Blue. Here is an example with made-up values (X is meaningless values) --

When I use the function, I want it to retrieve Pie, but it always retrieves Apple. Is there a way to ignore Apple? I've tried throwing "Apple" in there a couple different ways, but nothing is working. Or, if I can search from the bottom up, that would work as well.

Use Of MATCH And INDEX To Find First And Last Instances Meeting Criteria
Sep 30, 2009I am trying to write a formula which finds the last instance of a number greater than 30 in a column (B). The values are not sorted from smallest to largest as they correspond to a time series (A) which needs to be preserved. Ultimately, I want the formula to return the time at which this value occurs, but I think I can do that bit using INDEX
I have a formula to give the first instance (row number) of a number above 30, which seems to work, but beacuse I don't fully understand how it works I can't modify it to give the last instance. The formula is:
=MATCH(1,INDEX(--(B2:B883>=30),0),0)
Having only just learnt how to use MATCH and INDEX, I thought each should have 3 arguments, so I'm confused about how the 4 arguments here work. Also I can't find much on using logic functions within INDEX. Can someone explain this formula, and suggest how I might go about finding the last instance please?
Row Index Number Increasing Automatically
Mar 29, 2007I am doing a hlookup on a range (possibly over 100 rows). My formula is working but my problem is that it takes too much time to go and manually edit the formula to change the row index number and increase it by one. For example the row index number has to change in order to pull in the right data....eg 5,6,7,8 etc up to over 100. Is there a quick way to do this or do I have to manually enter the row index numbers in over 100 rows?
I am attaching a SAMPLE of data. The actual worksheet is much more larger.

Do Userform Controls Have An Index Number
Dec 18, 2009The form that I have created has a number of controls that are created at runtime. If a user triggers the event that originally created the controls, I want to be able to delete all of the controls before recreating them.
Is there a loop that can delete all of the newly created controls? I have 9 controls on the form that need to stay put but everything after those 9 controls I want to delete. Is there something like:

excel spreadsheet to one another, and wanted to come up with a way to have
the 1st column act as an index, with the key component requiring that the
index column would automatically re-number itself, if someone entered a new
row.
A typical value in the first column looks like this: 8-5-012-005
Which in our case means that there are 4 series of number sets, separated by
dashes. So the first set is 8, the second 5, the third 012, and the fourth
005. The available range for the sets are 7 or 8 for the first, 5 through 9
for the second, and 0 through 130, and 0 through 200, respectively.
So the user can pick any of these ranges for when they decide to create a
new record (row).
Here is the way the spreadsheet columns currently look (always sorted by
Tract_ID):

Now, here is the way I'd like to have the spreadsheet columns look with the
Index_No (can be either Numeric or Text - depending on your recomendations).
The sort order is based on 1st, the index number, then 2nd the Tract_ID:

Then, let's say the user wants to enter a new value like say, 7-5-105-021.
That value would need to go between Row-1 and Row-2, which, if they just
inserted the value in the row of their choice, would screw up the indexing.
What I need is a way to ALWAYS create an index (automatically), no matter
where they decide to put the value in the spreadsheet, AND it would update
all of the other Indexes as well (very important requirement).
So the end result would be this:

I have a lookup table in cell M1:R56 which holds the correct data, that I am pretty sure about.
In cell G1 I have the Lexicographic Index Number I want converted to a combination.
In cell J2 I have the value 39 (n).
In cell I2 I have the value 5 (k).

In cell A1 (the first number in the combination) I have the formula:

This works for the vast majority, but gives an ERROR when numbers 35,36,37,38,39 are in the combination, but funny enough NOT all the time.Lexicographic Index Number 575757 which is the maximum combination gives ALL ERRORS.
Match Index: The Value Yes To Return The Row Number
Jun 22, 2009in one column I am looking up the value Yes to return the row number.
=MATCH("Yes",C:C,0) in this case it returns a 2
I want to use this row number in a sum...
i.e. =sum(b2:b&x) where x is the row number from the formula above, but it just errors out.
