Sep 30, 2009On my spreadsheet I have multiple rows and cells containing alphanumeric text (text is a combination of a person's name and goals scored) i.e. Holland1 appears in row 3 cell P3 then Holland3 appears in row 6 cell O6.
What I would like to be able to do is have a forumla that looks at every row and cell in my range and sum the numbers of the alphnumeric text if the cell contains a certain name i.e Holland.
I had tried to use the array formula =1*MID(A1,MATCH(TRUE,ISNUMBER(1*MID(A1,ROW($1:$26),1)),0),COUNT(1*MID(A1,ROW($1:$26),1))) which I found on the internet but this only works for one cell and doesn't allow for a set criteria to be met.

Dec 24, 2011So i need a way to find the minimum number in a given set of numbers without there being multiple minimums. For example if you had 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 the minimum would be 1. If however you had 1, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5....i want excel to recognize there are multiple minimums (two 1's) and produce a warning (i realize this probably needs to be coupled with an if statement).

do not find the cell with the 3 (or 4). The above work fine when 3 or 4 are alone in the cell. Is there anyway to find these values in the cell?

Jun 24, 2013So I am having trouble figuring out how to do multiple text to equal multiple numbers. For instance right now I use =IF(E9="JOHN DOE","07", but I would like to have it where IF E9 = John Doe the cell shows 07, but IF the E9 = Sam Doe I want the cell to show 08, and the same IF E9 = Pat Doe the cell shows 09 and so on.
Meaning is there a way to have multiple functions go to a cell dependent on what is entered into E9 for example. I just want to have a number come out in one cell if a certain name is entered in a different cell. I loooked at this post [URL]....which got me started,

Mar 1, 2012Items in Column A1 are calculated by (B2/4+5)*1.4 Items located under the columns 2000, 3000, 4000, etc... 10,000 are calculated by taking the top number, eg 2000/(A1 cell value)+the column B number. 2000/7+0 = 286 (rounded numbers)
I need to find an way to look up for x number (2000,3000,4000, etc...) find the smallest number in that column and then return the value in column A1.

In the attached I have highlighted in different colours all the number combinations that add up to 55.52. The numbers highlighted in blue appear within more then one combination. Using InStr To Find Number Within A Number?
Jun 6, 2006I work for a store and we're migrating to a new Point of Sale system. The new POS uses the entire UPC code while our existing one uses only partial UPCs, so I have to update from the partial to the full. ex. Partial 3378093 - Full 0033780935
The partial UPC will always be included in the full UPC, the difference is the dropped leading zeros (and possibly other numbers) and the check digit number at the end. What I have is a spreadsheet with with two worksheets (Old, New) - one has our old UPCs and other information, the other has the new, full UPCs and more information we'll need. What I want to do is write a function that will search through the full list of new UPCs to find the one with the old UPC inside it and return the full UPC. InStr seems the right function to do this - correct?
The part I'm having trouble with is writing something that will search through the full column of new UPCs using InStr. I've searched through the forum for a similar situation but the few I've found aren't working or appropriate. I don't want to include any code I've written because 1) it doesn't work and 2) it would be way too embarassing!

I'm looking for a formula that will look at all the last few totals (starting from the end) and take an average of the last 4 totals that were > 0. In this case it would average {32, 32, 28, 32} ignoring the 0 total.
