Finding Row And Columns For All TRUE Values In A Matrix

I'm using multiple data tables to run sensitivity analyses on a very large model. At the end of the analysis, I've got a matrix that tells me which scenarios are TRUE or FALSE (based on multiple criteria). I'm looking for an elegant way to extract the combinations that give TRUE.

For a table like the one below produced for the sake of example (actual is much much bigger) I want to make it list rows that are true for a certain column for a certain variable in the matrix. So for say water terrain, which types of activity can I do i.e. swimming. Or for Offroad the activites which I can't do i.e. Run and Swim.

Hide Checkbox TRUE/FALSE & Sum Values Adjacent To TRUE

I have a worksheet where I have around 300 rows, each with 7 columns. What I want to do is add a checkbox to each column. I plan on setting non-applicable checkboxes to mixed status and locking the worksheet. I will unlock applicable checkboxes and sumif or countif their value according to row-based scoring, for example, each checked checkbox represents a value of 3. I do not know VBA and have chose to use the form control checkboxes rather than ActiveX.

I believe that a formula for this would be something like: =SUMIF(B1:B3,True,"3") or =COUNTIF($B$1:$B$3,True)*3

I am wondering firstly if I have that right and secondly if there is a way to stop my checkboxes from displaying labels. Currently, if I click on one it displays True behind the active checkbox. If I uncheck it, it displays False.

On my example sheet it shows how many cables and how the cable length per job. What i need is for the hour/job column to be populated from the Hours sheet by matching the column and row. e.g 4 cables at 40 metres would give me cell D7 (27.89), as 25 metres would be no good - so rounding up would be required.

Finding Optimal Combination In A Matrix

I've been assigned a task of finding a combination of three or four machines. For example AD,AJ,AQ, and AB would equal 7 therefore it would be the best combination of workstations for that cell. However, I'm having an issue that if AD, AJ, AQ, and AB are being selected more than once.

My question is, how can I analyze all the data and determine the best combination given the relationships for each row given the column.

3 = Absolutely Necessary
2 = Extremely Necessary
1 = Necessary
0 = Do not associate

Finding Value Based On Two Values In Columns And One Value In A Row

In the example above I am trying to look up a value from columns C-E. I need to be able to search/index using 2 criteria to figure out which row to match with the given column. for example: If I want to know the invoice qty. for R&D for Jan-2012, so the returned value would be 13. I have tried several different combinations of match and index to get this to work but have had no success. Ultimately what I want to do is have a drop down for the month and year that our VP can select and it will give him the given values for that month.

The goal:

Since i have a given:

1. Name(which exists in column C)

2. Date (which exists in column A - formated has (AAAA-MM-SS HH:MM:SS)

3. Event (which exists in column B)

4. Hour*

I want to know the nearest hour that matches all criterias.

In the example on top, if i give:
John, 2012-11-08, Check-In, 14:00:00
I want the result: 13:24:01

If, for example, the date doesn't exist, the result could be a simple error message.

Finding Unique Groups Of Values In Columns?

I have a file with immunophenotypic markers and their relationship to certain blood cells.

What I need to do is search the list and pull out the groups of defining markers for each blood cell. Some of the cells have many markers, some only have one but I need to find which combinations of markers identify each cell if possible.

I am not sure if Excel is able to do this but basically I am looking to find out which rows have some duplicate values. I have just read this back and it doesn't make a great deal of sense so I have attached an example spreadsheet.

Finding Next TRUE Value?

I'm currently using a formula which is exactly what i want but i need it to do something additional.

The formula is: =IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("Level 1 ",$I:$I)),$K:$K,"")

My understanding of this formula is that the cell the formula is in then searches column I for the value "Level 1 ", if it's true it returns what is in column K, if false then it returns the cell blank/0. This is a great function and works well.

What i want to know, is there a way to add another rule on to it that instead of returning the value blank/0, it finds the next cell in the column that has a TRUE value and omits it instead.

For example:
At the moment it shows:
Level 1A
Level 1B
Level 1C
(Blank Cell)
Level 1D
(Blank Cell)
Level 1E

But i want it to show like this:
Level 1A
Level 1B
Level 1C
Level 1D (Replaces blank cell with the next TRUE value)
Level 1E (Replaces cell that previously had "Level 1D" in it to the next TRUE value seeing as "Level 1D" is now above)

I don't want the cell to appear as blank.

In column K, i would only have the data for "Level 1 ", i can then copy the formula to other columns for "Level 2 " and so on. I don't need it to return the cells in alphabetical order, just the next true value in the column that matches the values in the reference column.

Finding Min Cell Values Excluding Zero In Alternate Columns

I have an array that is 1 row high by 16 columns wide.

Each cell may contain a positive value, or a zero.

I need a formula to find the "Minimum value that is greater than zero" in
columns 1,3,5,7,9,11,13 and 15.

=MIN(A1,C1,E1,G1,I1,K1,M1,O1) will always return the zero value while I
need the minimum value that is greater than zero.

If I use nested IF functions to exclude zeroes I run foul of the max of 7
allowed.

I have a data set which has 6 columns (and lots of rows). Every row is different but I want to aggregate them based on 4 fields and then find the average of the numerical column for the results. I basically want to Group based on 4 fields and find the average of the 5th field.

My initial approach was to introduce a column which is a combination of the 4 fields I want to group by, simply in the Excel file (=A2&B2&C2&D2) and then find duplicates of that. I have a solution for this in VBA but when importing new data sets in this method is very slow, so I want to be able to do the whole thing in VBA.

Userform's Listbox Values Depending On Values On Certain Matrix

I have problems with my userform's listboxes. I have two listboxes, and I want second listbox's values to be dependent on first listbox's values.

And even more complicated, I need second listbox's values to be dependent on values on certain matrix.

In that matrix, row headings are listbox1's values and column headings are listbox2's values. How ever there are blanc cells on that matrix aswell. So if there is a blanc cell(s) on a row which (heading) is selected at listbox1, then I don't want that column (heading) which intersects with the blanc cell to be included to my listbox2 values.

Finally I want to insert the selected values from listboxes and the value from the intersection of those listbox values (headings) on that matrix to worksheet.

I included an attachment, where you can see my point better. However, as you can see, now the listbox values are not dependent on that matrix. Otherwise it is working like I want it to work.

I would like to find a single-cell formula that will handle the multiple instances of either the X or Y headings (ex: there are two 'Yes' Rows) and still reach the appropriate summations. I would like to accomplish this without resorting to Macros or manual cell references if possible. I've acheived some limited success with array formulae so far, but find that the multiple instances of 'Yes' cause only one row to be summed before the formula finishes.

I have to create a matrix from columns in this format:

with a lot of empty cells (here, for exemple A1,A6 & A1,A7 ) and (A1,A2) = (A2,A1)
I'd like to have :

A1 0 1 4 6 0 0 0 4
A2 1 0 0 0 2 0 0 3
etc

The source data is in the attachment. Would it be possible to do it automatically?

Merging Columns And Rows Of Data Into A Matrix

I've been trying unsuccessfully to find a way to merge data into a matrix, but can't quite figure out a way to manage it. I have a list of employees in column A, in the list there are employees, many with multiple instances, and in columns C onwards there are dates in dd/mm/yyyy format.

Each line represents the number of nights in a trip, from 1 to 35 nights and the start to finish dates. Where as some employees may only have one row with one date others may have 20 rows with between 2 to 35 dates.

I'd like to merge this into a matrix with one line for each employee showing which nights in the year they were away (tab matrix) which has a day of the year to illustrate which employees were away on which nights of the year.

I've uploaded an example to highlight what I mean.

I've tried a pivot and an index match formula but couldn't get either to work.

I have created the following attachment to illustrate my problem. I have a square matrix -- say a 10x10 matrix (with data in B2:K11, and column headings on row 1, row headings on column A). I would like to get the sum of products of two columns in the result section below -- cells B14:K23, based on the position of the formula.

For example, cell B14 is the 1,1 item of the matrix so I would like to get the sumproduct of B2:B11 and B2:B11 (or SUMSQ(B2:B11) in this case); alternatively cell I16 is element 8,3 in the matrix so I need to get sumproduct of I4:I11 and D4:D11.
I tried the following formula using the OFFSET function (for cell B14 which is then copy/pasted throughout B14:K23)

I'm having trouble with a formula. Column A is a list of names. Row 1 is a list classes. What I need to be able to do is select a class from Row 1 in drop-down list in C14 and have it return the list of names in list starting at C17 based on the 'X'. In this example for SCIENCE it should return Tim Mark Jen. The actual file has 50+ names and 50+ classes.

Conditional Sum From Matrix With Non Numerical Values

I am trying to conditionally sum numbers from a matrix. On the vertical axis, there will be duplicate values (text) who's rows should be summed, and on the horizontal axis I need to sum in between two numbers that will be in sequential order (such as dates). The real tough part for me is that the data field that I will be summing from has non numerical values, like dashes. Obviously, I don't want to sum the dashes, but it throws off any formulas I have tried (like sum arrays).

My hopes are to use as little memory as possible so my file size wont get too big and to not have to use macros (I do not really use them), although I am willing to try if they are basic.

In the example below, I want to sum rows for the letter "A" and in between numbers "2" and "4."

Y Variable: A

I have in sheet "Products", in column A, a lists of Products from row 2 to N. (Product 1 , Product 2, Product 15, Product 37, etc).

How to generate in sheet "Menu" a matrix of buttons with the label of each button taken from the value of each cell in column A of sheet1.

I have different Headers of each row, which should make it possible to use INDEX, MATCH or VLOOKUP. but i don't seem to be able to get it right.

In my table, I want to notate every occurence of A=1,A=2,B=1, etc; by placing an "X" in the correct cell. So, the table should look like this:

I cannot figure out the formula. I've tried this:

=If(VLOOKUP($L6,$I$6:$J$15,2,False)=M$5,"X"," ")

....but it seems to only return the first value found, and not all occurences.

I need to SUM the cells in column J when column E has the word "yes" and the range N:R has a letter "w" in one of the columns. Only one of the N:R columns will have an entry on any one row and it may not necessarily be a "W".

I have Googled, and being a beginner I don't comprehend the result! Some people were talking about using an add in, but I won't be allowed to add software to our PC's.

I'm quite new to array formulas in excel and was wondering whether or not I can advance on this formula:

=AND($C$5=B7,$K$5=G5)

The problem is I would like to compare the entire colums (or array) and return the number of 'TRUE' statements in the array as a value.

=AND($C$5:$C$65536=B7,$K$5:$K$65536=G5)

however, this returns all values as 'FALSE'

example of arrgument:

IF C5:C65535=customer then count how many cells in K5:K65536=completed
