I know in word that you can format a table cell so that the text is in Title Case, ie. the first letter of every word is capitilised. What i am trying to do though is capitalise the first letter of every word and have the rest in lower case, except the last line in a cell.
I am doing this for names and addresses, but the data we will be copying is all in capitals.
I need to make this look a little better for doing a mailshot, but we don't want the last line capitalised as this will be the postcode and should be all capitals. eg AB12 3CD.
Will i need to loop through every letter to change them or is there an actual formatting i can use? Also would i need to try to use some kind of lookup to find the last code(10) and make sure that this stayed as capitals?
I have some code that parses an html table. I want to put in error handling in case the format of the page changes or the internet page is unavailable. I am testing without an internet connection and the run time error is not being branched off to the error handler and is fatally ending the macro. This is true also if I raise an error manually.
Private Sub ParseInjuryPage() On Error Goto ErrorHandl Dim strPage As String Dim webIE As SHDocVw.InternetExplorer Dim myURL As String Dim tableBeg As Long Dim tableEnd As Long Dim RowBeg As Long Dim rowEnd As Long Dim cellBeg As Long Dim cellEnd As Long Dim strBeg As Long Dim strEnd As Long Dim myCell As Range Dim rowNum As Integer With Sheets("INJ") Set myCell = .Range("A2") .Range("A:F").Value = vbNullString rowNum = 2 Set webIE = New SHDocVw.InternetExplorer myURL = "http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/injuries" webIE.Navigate myURL Do Until webIE.ReadyState = READYSTATE_COMPLETE DoEvents Loop strPage = webIE.Document.body.innerhtml...................................
I've got a pretty intense macro already written, a lot of Select Case components. At the end, if nothing matches I'd like to just copy the cell above to the cell below. However, there is a range of about 400 cells in length, so I'd need some sort of wildcard for range.
Rows("2:2").Select Selection.Insert Shift:=xlDown, CopyOrigin:=xlFormatFromLeftOrAbove Dim Cell As Variant For Each Cell In Range("A1:OL1") Select Case Cell.Value Case "Eng1" Cell.Offset(1, 0).Value = "Engine One" tons more in the middle here Case Else Cell.Offset(1, 0).Value = "N/A"
Rather then returning "N/A", how could I reference the cell above and just copy it instead?
How do I enforce for ranges A1:A10 and C1:C10 that whatever is entered in these cells is changed to sentence case, i.e. "today it is Raining." will change to "Today it is raining.".
I thought of having helper columns with the following formula that would then paste over the ranges on a Workbook.close event but it seems long-winded and not the right way of doing it.
I am using the Find fuction to look for values in cells that contain text in both lower and upper case. I am comparing the values that I have stored in a lookup table. I am running into trouble when the lookup table doesn't match the text cells....
Is there a way to change the text in a cell to proper apart from 2/3 letter words which I want to keep as upper? Basically can it ignore all words that are 2 or 3 letters long, but change all other words to proper text?
I decided to try to change it into a Case Statement. Here is what I have now. But the problem seems to be this time at this line: When I have "01" in C5 the script just keeps going?
I am using a Uderform in order to check if some cells in several columns are higher or lower than values I set in my textboxes.
However, I think I am having a mistake in my code (it runs but doesnt return the correct informations) as I have blank cells in certain columns.
Concretely I am giving 1 point if the criteria is valid (if for example the value in the cell is <= 1) but some of these criteria are 1 when they should be 0.
As I said it runs but I need to add a fix for empty cells / blank cells and if possible N/A error cells in this so that the code gives 0 to the criteria and moves to the next column (next select case)..
What i would need is a script so that it doesn't look at those specific cells but a range of cells and every time the button is clicked it will fall into the first empty cells.
So example when button is clicked Case 1 if cells C242 has something look at cell C243 If cell C243 has something look at cell C244 If cell C244 has nothing then enter data that goes with that button. I have around 6 to 7 different buttons.
In my worksheet there are ranges A3:C37, E3:E37, J3:K37 and P3:P37 that all contain text that I would like to automatically change to proper case once the user leaves any of the referenced cells.
I have tried various codes form this forum and searched for hours on the net for a solution to do this but no matter what I do/try nothing works (for long)
Another forum user did help me out with some code but there was an issue with column C, L & O (which are set as drop down lists) and when the code was put into the workbook these columns stopped working and froze the app.
I have a column of cells with values - 0.2%, 0.32%, 0.22, 0.5 etc. The cells with % symbol are in ' Percentage, 2 decimal' format while the plain numbers are in 'General' format i.e. column contains cells in either of these formats. I need a macro where I can specify the column and it will select the cells with the % format, convert it to 'General' and multiply the result by 100 eg. 0.2% converted to 'General' becomes 0.002. When multiplied by 100, result is 0.2 i.e. is displayed without the % symbol.
How can I format cells to contain Minutes, Seconds and Hundredths of seconds to be used in calculations eg 1.24.99 means 1 minute and 24.99 seconds. Example calculation is: 1.24.99 - 1.24.90 =0.0.09
For the following code, I'm getting the " Case without Select Case" error (On Case 3 to 5...assuming more are wrong too, but debug can't get there yet). I thought I had it right, obviously don't. Can anyone spot how my code is wrong? ....
I'm trying to compare two range values within a macro to see if they match...if they do/don't I capture and write some other data.
One list is lowercase, while the other list is UPPERCASE. My current macro needs them to be in the same case because I'm using the following to compare: If VPNID.Value = BuildHRName Then
How can I change the format of one of the lists to UPPERCASE or lowercase so that I am comparing apples to apples?
I'm looking for a way of keeping case sensitive data in a range of cells, before using Data Consolidate, which when merged afterwards, Consolidate removes the case sensitivity and combines the quantities into one.
Check out this simple table as an example >
A B C D E F G H
1 TEXT QTY TEXT QTY TEXT QTY TEXT QTY
2 and 3 and 2 and 10 and 5
[Code] .........
Cells A1-B7 and C1-D7 are two sets of original data, before consolidation.
Cells E1-F4 are the result of applying a Data Consolidate operation to the A1-B7 and C1-D7 ranges - note how the merged result ignores the case sensitive condition in the original ranges.
Cells G1-H7 is the post-consolidation result that I'm looking for, where the original text case is maintained.
if there's any way for vba to detect if each individual character in a string is in caps, and if so, convert to lower case, and if it's in lower case, convert to capitalized
The text will vary in length and content... so he wants to see how we can change: "This Is Strange" to "tHIS iS sTRANGE" "THIS IS STRANGE" to "this is strange" "this is strange" to "THIS IS STRANGE"
I am trying to conditionally format the top middle and bottom thirds of a range of data. Problem is, that the range needs to be flexible as sometimes there may be a maximum of 36 cells with data, but sometimes there may be less (so there are blank cells in the range that need not be counted). The methods I have tried always include the blank cells, and so it is not equally formatting the thirds (as it includes the blanks cells as part of the bottom data)....
Here are the 2 methods Ive tried so far using excel 2003) Top 34%: =IF(INT(COUNT($D$3:$D$38)*34%)>0,LARGE($D$3:$D$38,INT(COUNT($D$3:$D $38)*34%)),MAX( $D$3:$D$38))0,LARGE($D$3:$D$38,INT(COUNT($D$3:$D $38)*67%)),MAX( $D$3:$D$38))0,LARGE($D$3:$D$38,INT(COUNT($D$3:$D $38)*100%)),MAX( $D$3:$D$38))
I have a column of numbers and want to make sure everything has been entered correctly from our scanning software. Basically, I want to automatically highlight any cell that has any letter in it (e.g. z12o2 instead of 21202 or R705 instead of 5705), ignoring any cells that contain only numbers. I haven't had any luck using conditions based on formulas like =ISTEXT.
I am comparing a set of common variables across 2 sets of independent financial data. When comparing a variable across the 2 sets e.g. profit I want to colour a neighbouring cell based on the size of the difference. For example if the difference between the two values is within plus or minus 1 make it green, plus or minus 5 red etc.
my excel setting... I'm not able to see some of the numbers (in currency/accounting) in excel file, it shows as many "#" sign, and it's not due to the column width. The same file can be seen in other computer.
The format setting is the same in all the cells but only certain rows/cells' numbers appear like "normal".
I have a column of numbers at random intervals which I am trying to insert totals into, the totals should only total the cells since the last total. Take a look at the code I started that I thought might do the trick and revel in the amateurishness of it all!
Sub TB Range("A2").Select Selection.End(xlDown).Select ActiveCell.Offset(1, 0).Select ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "=SUM(R[-5]C:R[-1]C)" End Sub .......
