Here is what I think I want to do (however there may be a better way to get to the end result).
Macro 1:
Unhide all worksheets however, first list only the worksheets that are visible.
Macro 2:
I want to be able to hide all worksheets except those in the above list.
My intent would be to have these in the personal file so I could run either process on any file I have open so I think I would need to insert a tab for the list when unhiding & remove the tab after hiding.
I have found many strings unhiding all & hiding all except a named sheet... but can't find anything on the above?
I have an Excel sheet with all client information...For clinical supervision I want my team members to open their own "Supervision.xls" and click a button...this button will open "Client.xls" and select "Client info sheet"...It will then hide rows c,d,g & f...it will then filter column "e" based on the specific caseworkers name ( say "Joe") and copy only the visable columns back to their "supervision.xls" Values only (doesn't effect the colour formating of Supervision.xls) then close "Client.xls"
I've used VBA to make a picture appear when all the correct answers have been entered and it all works well. However, not to be too mean to 15 year olds, many of my students can be devious little feckers, and I want to hide and password protect the VBA code so that they can't just change the pictures visible section to true. I can password protect the workbook and worksheet, but not the VBA.
I'm entering the Visual Basic editor and I can see my simple script. I then click Tools - VBproject properties - protection. I'm clicking the "Lock Project for Viewing" box then filling in the password and confirming the password and clicking OK. But I can still see and edit my script, despite protecting the sheet and workbook.
I use templates (.xlt) to generate reports for different organizations. In some cases certain pages in the reports are hidden. When printing I get blank pages where pages are hidden. How do I not get these pages printed at all? I do use page breaks to format the reoprts.
I'm trying to create a userform that allows the user to swap sheets from visible to hidden status. I've made it to the point where all the sheet names are populated based on their current status in their respective listbox, but I am stuck on using the results of any swaps to newly set their visible property. the code I have in the userform is as follows:
I have a workbook with many worksheets. All I want to do is print to PDF those that are visible (I can use just the code name number can't I?) and ignore those that are hidden. It seems simple enough but it will run and do nothing.
Dim sMsg As String, FName As Variant Dim myArray() As Integer Dim i As Integer Dim j As Integer
I found code from the internet attributed to Bob Phillips for VBA to have a dialog box pop up and allow the user to select what worksheet to navigate to.
The code works well except it doesn't exclude hidden or very hidden worksheets.
Code:
Sub BrowseSheets() Const nPerColumn As Long = 38 'number of items per column Const nWidth As Long = 13 'width of each letter Const nHeight As Long = 18 'height of each row Const sID As String = "___SheetGoto" 'name of dialog sheet Const kCaption As String = " Select worksheet to goto" 'dialog caption
[Code]....
I know there is the line of "If Sheets(i).Visible And i Mod nPerColumn = 1 Then..." but it still allows all sheets to show up in the dialog box.
How it can be modified to include visible sheets only?
I'm trying to retrieve the worksheet names to a specif cell and populate from that point only with the names of the visible sheets, but It keeps returning only the last visible sheet name and not the sheets that are visible. Where the code is failing - I'm self learner and start with VBA macros a couple of months so I'm still learning how to identify when the error show up
Code: Sub Summary() Dim wks As Worksheet ultl = Sheets("Control").Cells(1048576, 4).End(xlUp).Row For i = 31 To ultl
I was wondering if it is possible to hide a column(s) but still have data in that column be visible at the bottom of the spreadsheet. For example, if I hide column G can it only hide the column from rows 1 - 50 and then the column will appear after row 50?
An Excel file is e-mailed to my company for all the credit card transactions in a given day. Because we manage many stores and each store is a different legal entity and a different fiscal year ending, I need my macro to sort the information and separate the transaction by store and by fiscal year end. I just hit my first block.
I need to open a workbook off the server to grab information for a vlookup formula. I can get the workbook open, but I can't get back to the original workbook or find a way to reactivate it. Because the macro is going to be saved in the "personal" workbook, I can't use the "thisworkbook.activate" code. Also the workbook name and tab name that is emailed to me will always be different so I can't use other solutions that I've seen posted.
I have a set of four sheets that each act as a wall planner type of calendar (one for each team of staff) all in one workbook. I have a sheet that acts as a key where cells on the key display different types of holidays e.g. Annual Leave, Unpaid Leave etc. Normally the user would select the cells where they wish to take the time off against their name and go to the "key" sheet, copy relevant cell and go back to their team sheet and paste. I want to put all this into a macro to be used on a customised button on the menu bar.
I am able to do this with one sheet ( I simply put in the code the name of the sheet that I previously selected) but I don't know how with four sheets. How do I say go back to the sheet I previously selected.
In cells A1, A2, and A3 of Sheet1 I have data. This data is the result of some calculation else where in Sheet1. Nevertheless, I would like to link this data to Sheet2 in cells A1, A2, and A3. Now normally, you can't do this. But is their a way around this error message?
i want my userform to operate like this: >each time the user opens the userform, he has to choose from the 1st combo box which AREA will he worked on (e.g., Math, English, History). upon selecting, the AREA chosen will populate the choices in the 2nd combo box (e.g. if Math, 2nd combo box will show: Algebra, Calculus, Trigonometry).
**thru some posts, this part is already solved. thanks. but this will lead me to my questions.
>1st and 2nd combobox selections (e.g., MATH, CALCULUS) serve as a match. Unique from the other matches.
>upon choosing the match, the user can encode in the succeeding textboxes (he would encode numbers). **this is in another Userform Which Saves Data To Two Different Worksheets DATA TO TWO DIFFERENT WORKSHEETS
>my userform has an EDIT command button.
***what VBA codes can i use so that when I click EDIT, the userform will display all the matches that I encoded. If I choose the match from such display, all that i encoded which are related to that match will be reverted to the userform so that i can edit it right at the userform?
I have generated a matrix in excel through iteration (I'm trying to calculate a dinamic covariance matrix between 50 values) which looks like this:.......
A 50x50 matrix. What I have generated in each cell is not the formula, but the text of the formula. Somehow Excel has a valid formula in a specific cell, but "doesn't know yet" that within the cell there is no longer a text. So, to make every formula run, I have to go cell by cell pressing F2, then enter, 2.500 times. Notice that in each formula I don't have something like this:
+"+COVAR(Rends!C4:AB4;Rends!C4:AB4)" or '+COVAR(Rends!C4:AB4;Rends!C4:AB4)
but the valid formula: +COVAR(Rends!C4:AB4;Rends!C4:AB4)
I have a sheet with about 20000 rows consisting of hundreds of names which occur randomly. After each name is a date of the type 29-Jan-06.The dates are in ascending order.I wish to print in a third column how long it is in days since that name appeared previously in the list,if it never appeared before this will be zero.
Need to correct code to resize all visible rows on a sheet based only on the text in the visible columns. I have tried the below code but when it resizes it is using the largest amount of text in the rows including that in the hidden columns.
I'm creating a "welcome" page to the workbook with instructions on how to update data. The data between the 20 sheets consists of pivot tables, charts and summary data. The Visible sheets are data for management's review (all protected). The 3 hidden sheets are pivot tables that the user needs to pull data from and the very hidden sheets are not to be seen by anyone.
In my "welcome" page, I added the instructions of how to update data, but wanted an area where I could assign a checkbox or button to click on for the user to unhide my 3 hidden sheets (say Sheet1, Sheet2 and Sheet3). I do not want it to unhide my very hidden sheets. Then, when the information needed is retrieved from those sheets, I would like the user to use a checkbox or button to hide the 3 hidden sheets again. Is there a way to do this?
I tried creating custom view but couldn't do that because of the pivot tables (the option was disabled). I'm a beginner in VBA so don't even know how to begin.
I have a workbook w/ 120+ sheets, and the first one is a table of contents, while each following sheet is a record sheet for one of 10 individuals. That is, sheets 2-8 are for Alice, 9-12 for Bob, 13-29 for Charles, etc. Individual names are in column C, sheet names are hyperlinked text in column A on the table of contents sheet.
I want to know how to hide all the sheets which are not meant for the individual based on the autofilter of Column C. If I select Alice as the autofilter criteria for Column C, I want all the sheets except the table of contents and her sheets 2-8 to be hidden.
Im working across Multiple Sheets and trying to get the following working.
I want a an input by the user of "NO" in cell M11 on Sheet 1 of my workbook to hide rows 32 - 41 on Sheet 2 and not to hide them if the user keys in "YES"
I have a workbook where each sheet is password protected. I'm trying to find some code that would unprotect each sheet, and hide rows 1-12 on each sheet, and then re-protect all sheets.
I would like to have all my worksheets except one hidden when a user saves the workbook. I can do it with a macro but not all users use the macro to save the document and sheets are left visible.
I am trying to format all cells on all sheets (hidden or otherwise) as "Locked" so when the sheets are protected the user can't see the formulas. This macro individually selects every sheet in the book and applys the formatting. Is there a way to modify this code to accomplish the same thing without having it actually select every sheet? The only reason it is an issue is that after running the macro you end up on the last sheet in the book.
i am using the macro below to get excel to hide all sheets but the one called "open"...
PHP Sub savemini()
ActiveWorkbook.Unprotect "letmein"
For Each sh In ThisWorkbook.Worksheets If Not sh.Name = "open" Then sh.Visible = xlVeryHidden Next sh
ActiveWorkbook.Save End Sub
So the workbook is protected with the password "letmein", and the VB code above in theory should unlock the workbook, allowing all visible sheets to be hidden with the exception of the sheet called "open". Then is saves the file.
Now heres the odd bit... it works for certain people, but not for others. I have made sure those it wont work for are not doing anything weird and they are not.
The workbook i am using has a code that only opens certain sheets for certain users. I as a master user have access to all sheets. I can go into the users sheets and click the button that activates the macro above myself and it works fine, but for some users it wont work.
Option Explicit forces explicit declaration of all variables in the code. That is why i had to declare ws as worksheet using the Dim statement before using it in the code. It is recommended to have it - however for this code it wouldn't have mattered.
I'm not sure I exactly follow what you imply here. But yes, you can hide all the sheets at first and then "unhide" at the start of the macro. Let's say you have a "Start" sheet.. then:
[Code] .....
The workbook is used by other people too. I cannot just tell them to hide the sheets, it defeats the purpose. What I want is, when macro is disabled, they will only see the START sheet, otherwise, all sheets will be visible. To add to this, a new sheet is added everyday. Sheets name are calendar dates in mmdd format
