Hide One Sheet And Open Another
May 8, 2014I have been reviewing various methods of doing this and I had one that worked and for some reason it has now stoped?
The Code is:
Sheets("BCDashbd").Select
Sheets("Main Dshbd").Visible = True
Sheets("BCDashbd").Select
ActiveWindow.SelectedSheets.Visible = False
This is activated by using a button on the BCDashbd Page. I want it to hide the BCDashboard sheet and Unhide the Main DshBd Sheet. Currently it opens the Main Dshbd sheet but does not hide the BCDshboard Sheet?
What have I missed?

I do not want it on startup.

So when you press go, it unhides the sheet, goes to it, and hides it again, but then the sheet is hidden it pushes the user back to the page they was on, so it would appear you can't have a hidden sheet open.
Is there a way for excel to determine when the sheet has been closed, to be able to hide it when the user navigates away?

Oct 6, 2009I have a workbook that has worksheets that serve as data input pages for the user.
I have control boxes created by the forms toolbar.
I created a splash screen that is to be launched when the file is opened.
Instead, often the last sheet that the user was on when they last saved the file (usually but not always the worksheet called "Main Menu") is seen first.
I understand that not all the sheets can be hidden - that one must be unhidden.
So I created a sheet called "Background" that is a solid color with no gridelines.
Objective:
When the file is opened, I want the "Background" sheet to be seen first and then the splash screen to be initiated.
Now - when the user opens the file, the Main Menu worksheet is seen for a few seconds (or whatever the last sheet was on before it was last saved), then it disappears and the solid background screen is shown with the splash screen. When the splash screen ends, the "Background" sheet disappears.
Here is the code that I have in the workbook

If i want to hide "position 32" i have to enter the number 8 of the row. This works fine. But now if i want to hide the "position 32" from Sheet1 it also should hide the rows 4-8 from Sheet2 [Data with 32].
Or if i hide "position 34" in Sheet1 [row 10] it also should hide the rows 14-18 in Sheet2.

Nov 22, 2006I am filtering the data displayed in a chart by hiding columns. I would also like to filter the X-Axis labels by hiding columns. If I do this manually I have no problems but when I run the following macro the chart gives a reference error for the X-axis labels.

May 14, 2009I have two workbooks. One is a no-nonsense form interface that my bosses will use to enter safety information. I'll call this workbook "Form". This file is stored locally on each of their computers. The other workbook is stored on a common drive. I'll call it "Master".

Mar 30, 2007how to make a MsgBox open anytime a cell in Column A was double-clicked--and the content of the MsgBox was from the cell in the same row in column Z. I've now realized the double-clicking isn't an ideal solution, as it's easy to click in another cell and mess up all the formulas.
(1) Code that deactivates the "edit directly in cell" option when the workbook is opened.

I use it to attempt to open first a QuickBooks file and then an excel workbook.
The Quickbooks file opens fine. The Excel workbook never appears to open but
I do get the full file pathname to my excel workbook returned which I then
parse off to get just the workbook name.
Why would it behave this way? I open both these files manually all the time.
Also, I'm trying to use a filter as follows:
myname = Application.GetOpenFilename("*.QBW")
I get a compile error saying that I'm calling the function wrong.

I have a macro that's supposed to copy data from one workbook to another, it works fine but In the macro it open the other workbook then closes it. I would like the macro to not reopen the second workbook if it is already open (since reopening causes it to lose the newly updated info). I think it can be done with a If command but I don't know which tried the following: If workbooks("M:/database") Is Open but of course 'is open' doesn't work, but can anyone tell me what to use instead.

I have an automated ordering system that saves each sent order as the date e.g "05-04-2013.xls" but the management team want a graph with the data for the last 4 weeks compared. I have created a seperate workbook called "consumables report.xls" which has a column with the products listed followed by columns "Quantity" and "cost" which is repeated for the 4 weeks of the month.
I want to add a button to prompt the user to choose the saved order e.g "05-04-2013.xls" (all orders saved in same directory) to copy and paste the quantity and cost columns (c8,D69) into "consumables report.xls". I got this to work earlier but it would only paste the formulas and not the values. So I need
A prompt to open workbook
Copy range (c8,d69)
Close work sheet
Paste special .value (c8,D69)
I dont care if it has to open the workbook to copy the data as this will only be used once a month so it dosnt matter how slow the code is.
