View 1 RepliesWhat I need to do is fairly simple to explain:
I want to have the first letter of every word in a cell to be capitalized, but the rest of each word must remain as is.
Ie: If I have "My AMD CPU still has some pew-pew" in a cell, I want to be able to use a function, let's say:
=CapFix("My AMD CPU still has some pew-pew")
and the output should be:
My AMD CPU Still Has Some Pew-pew
I've tried using:
=PROPER("My AMD CPU still has some pew-pew")
But the output is:
My Amd Cpu Still Has Some Pew-pew
Which is incorrect (capitalization in the rest of the words "AMD" and "CPU" is lost). Does anybody here know what can be done to solve this problem, or have any info about what I can use to solve it? I have not been able to find any built-in Excel function to solve this, nor ASAP Utilities and I can add VBA code and macros, I just don't know how to manipulate the strings correctly or do the loops, etc that I think will be necessary to solve this.
If anyone could help, it would be much appreciated. I've not seen a single site where a similar problem has been posted. Even if you can't give me a full solution, but can point me in any direction that would be useful, I'd be really grateful.
I work with a team of users that are continually publishing reports in Word that contain charts and graphs copy and pasted from Excel into Word 2010.
We have a custom script that leverages a PDF engine to automatically convert .doc files to .PDF files that we distribute electronically to our clients. This all works great, but only if all my users select 'paste special' and Enhanced Metafile Format when adding their excel charts into our reports. Most of these people aren't tech savvy, and I'm havin ga hell of a time getting them to follow this workflow and am hoping there's a way in Office 2010 to select the default paste from excel into word when the content is a chart.
It seems like the default paste from excel is an embedded chart/graph that you can then further manipulate each component of the chart in Word; the default doesnt' paste an actual image. I am assuming the pdf renderer is using a lower resolution .PNG version of the image and when these are scaled for print and or pdf, they look like crap.
Is htere anyway I can automatically change the default paste format for the chart from excel into word to be an EMF/EMV (enhanced metafile?) Either thorugh the registry or some other saveable setting?
I have a template document, created in MS Word. I want to generate, from Excel, a new document as would happen when you open the template from windows explorer or whatever ie. Template1.doc as opposed to Template.xlt.
The best I've managed to achieve is the opening of the template.
I am trying to create an IF function that searches for the word "No." I have created a table with monthly payments and if the payment is >= 0, it returns the word Yes. If the payment is
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an Excel sheet with a long list of data. A short example is shown below:
Section | Title | Item
1 | INTRODUCTION | a
1.1 | title2 | b
1.2 | title3 | c
1.2.1 | title4 | d
1.2.2 | title5 | e
I made a VBA macro in Excel that runs through this list and creates a new Word file for each item. The filename of the document is based on the data in the Excel file (section and title). Now I would like to add a custom property to each of the newly created Word files, i.e. the value in the 'item' column. Does anyone of you know how I should do this? Or should it be better if I write a macro in Word that runs through the Excel data to create the word files? Here is the code I use to generate the word files:
The purpose of this endeavour is to create a cell that when the user clicks
on it, it will open up a Word file that THAT particular cell represents.
FIRST STEP:
Take the values from Column D (Tract Number), then add a ".doc" extension to
it, then put the UNC filepath (\serverdata
eports) in front of all of that
and put it in Column E. See me example below:
File path plus Tract Number plus Extension
\serverdata
eports 7-5-065-085 .doc
.... to generate something like this:
\serverdata
eports7-5-065-085.doc
SECOND STEP:
Use the value (only when the user clicks on the hyperlink) from the cell in
Column E and start up Word.
I'm trying to create Word documents (letters.doc) from Excel fields.
I already created bookmarks in Word and have the same Titles in A Row in Excel 2003 and I have tried the following threads:
Add bookmarks to Word from Excel Inserting data values from Excel into a Word doc using bookmarks
But I cannot manage it properly. I know that I need the code that goes on the lines of
Set WdApp = CreateObject("Word.Application")
rather than Set WdApp = New.Object
I cannot get Word to open a document! =(
It's basic letter creation, First_Name, 2_Name, Address_1, Address_2.. These have been bookmarked in Word and have exact same Titles in Columns A-D
I have been working on the following VBA code, which should copy specific charts from excel into specific places in a word-template.
I Am quite new with VBA, so I googled the code, changed a few things, and it works exactly as it should - except from one thing. When the Word-document is loaded from the template, I would like the document to be "saved as..."
Instead of just opening the template. I have tried
Code:
.ActiveDocument.SaveAs Filename:=fname & ".doc"
The code is as follows:
Option Explicit
Sub EksporterTilWord()
Dim appWrd As Object
Dim objDoc As Object
Dim FilePath As String
Dim FileName As String
[Code] ...........
If a specific word is entered in a cell I want a list to show in another cell. This is better explained in an example. In cell A2 I have a validation list of names, eg. Mary, Mary Birth, John, John Birth,. . .) In cell N2 I have another validation list of places , eg. Ireland, England, Wales, USA, Scotland, . . )
In A2 if a name with Birth is chosen then I only want them to be able to choose from Ireland or England.

This is column a and b. Looking at b I am looking for a formula that will pull the first capital letter out of each word like ACR to create color codes.
I have an excel database where I register cases. I have in it a button that creates a folder with and ID nr that is in column A (I create new ID nr in the next row, when I press the button it will create a folder with that ID nr and inserts a blank word document in it). We have a template that we copy to the folder (depending what type of case). The idea would be that once the template is filled in and ready to print, It would take the values from the ID nr and a reference number a few cells to the right. Is it possible to tell excel to open the word document in the folder and create a PDF version with the ID nr and reference number. (there are only 2 templates, so the macro would have to look for one of the two in the folder)
The name of the templates are: "Standard" and "Other".
I guess the best way to start maybe this would be that I select the cell with the ID nr and then press a macro button to have this done.
One thing that needs to be done, is to put a copy in the same folder and another in a second folder called "Binder" in my documents folder.
I have two spreadsheets that are linked in Excel 2007. They both hold very different information about the same projects, so each row shares some information. However, they are both very large and I do not want to combine them in case the whole spreadsheet becomes unusable. I'm not allowed to use a database
When I save Spreadsheet 1 in a different location, so that I have a backup of the precious data, the link in Spreadsheet 2 changes to show that new location. I want the link to stay at the old location.
Is there a way to stop the link changing when I use SaveAs, so that when I open Spreadsheet 2 it refers to the original location of Spreadsheet 1?
I have an excel program that is supposed to count word instances in a word document. I can't seem to find the right declaration for a word document.
For example to declare a workbook in excel its
Dim wb As Work Book
I've tried
Dim doc As Word.Document
'or
Dim doc As Word.Application
as shown in some of the forum posts, but an error user-type not defined keeps displaying.
I need to create a macro that can create a dynamic copy/paste loop. So far what I have is horribly inefficient. Each row in colmn A(minus the header) has a unique number in it. For each unique number, I need to paste it based on the number of column headers in row 1(minus column A). So, if there are 20 column headers, I need to copy cell A2 and paste it 19 times in another sheet. Then, I need to move to the next number in column A and do the same thing. Here's what I have:
[Code] .........
You can see that this is not dynamic. If I add another row to my table and rerun the macro, it will not catch it. I've attached a sample file to show you the big picture of what I'm trying to do. The data that I have is in Sheet1, and I'm trying to get it into the format in Sheet3. Rows/columns will be periodically added to the table in Sheet1, so the macro needs to be dynamic to catch that. The data in Sheet3 will always remain, and the macro will add the updated data below the old data in Sheet3.

if there is a way in VBA to copy a macro from range of cells in Excel and insert it into the normal module in word? I have a macro in excel that copies cell's, paste them into word and then calls a macro in word which does some find and replace functions. Users have to manually add the word macro and I was hoping they could just click a user button and it would automatically open word, add the macro and close it.

I am creating an order checklist in Excel. I want it that if the sales rep clicks on a certain field that a macro will populate the form that is needed. If the rep does not click on that box then the certain form will not be populated. Is this possible?
I am trying to find a macro that deletes a row that does not contain a given word or string.
For example, if a row does not contain the string -> then delete it or even better select and move all such rows to another worksheet so that the main worksheet is left only with rows containing the string.
I have a form in Word that I go through and fill out different fields in the table with text. I need to be able to copy each specific field to an excel spreadsheet so we can have a database of the info. So far I am just recording a macro and trying to modify it. I can get excel to open.
Sub Testing()
Selection.HomeKey Unit:=wdStory
Selection.MoveDown Unit:=wdLine, Count:=2
Selection.MoveRight Unit:=wdCell
Selection.Copy
Set appEX = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
appEX.Visible = True
appEX.Workbooks.Open FileName:="D:/AE Service Session/macro.xls"
End Sub
It needs to take the value that it copied and paste it into the first blank cell in column A.
I need to replace part of a formula. I need to delete the workbook reference: "[Combined Flow2.xlsm]". I need to do this for range A1:Z100 and this is what I record when deleting them one at a time:
[Code] ........
How can I do this to delete it from all worksheets for the range A1:Z100 besides one at a time.
At my company I work with a lot of text-filled Excel files. In order to get a proper word count we're currently using the primitive method of "paste into Word and run a word count". I'd like to be able to do this from within Excel, and I found the macro below but have run into a snag.
The problem I have is that it ignores carriage returns and count the last word in the first line and the first word in the following line as one word. In the files I work with this can throw off the count by thousands of words. So if I run this macro against a cell containing a single text string:
<My name is Amejin and
I like pizza and beer> - 10 words
The macro reads it as:
<My name is Amejin andI like pizza and beer> - 9 words
So, essentially I need a method of changing carriage returns into spaces so that the macro will return the proper count.
I have a spreadsheet which I am trying to put in a macro to add a new page (below the current page in the same worksheet) so that users who are unfamilair with Excel can simply do this.
I have got the macro to copy the cells I want and can get it to paste but the issue is I don't always want it to paste in the same place. The current document is 1 page long but it may need to be up to 10 pages long. I am trying to get it to find the last instance of the word "COMMENTS" and then paste the copied info 3 rows below that.
I need a macro code that will edit cells containing links similar to this one "[URL]..." by adding "/current" at the end of them. There shouldn't be any space in between. There are over a thousand of them, and I think this would save me time,
View 9 Replies View RelatedI want to search for a word say "Output" in a Column 7 in one sheet and return the value present in the Upper cell of Output Cell and its adjacent cell to a cell in another sheet example:

I found the following function in an old thread.
Public Function cleanString(fNameStr As String)Dim i As IntegerConst BadChars = "=+/'*?).,#%~!($[]÷™©" For i = 1 To Len(BadChars) fNameStr = Application.WorksheetFunction.Substitute(fNameStr, _ Mid(BadChars, i, 1), "") Next i cleanString = fNameStr

How would this be modified to work as a macro on selected cells (with selection?) I lost the formatting
what needs to be changed on this code to only apply once for the row and not over and over again.

I have a excel file with more then 10 sheets..Some of the sheets contains this word in some random cells" #DIV/0! " I want a macro which can find it in every sheet except parent sheet and can remove it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedOn the data sheet I attached you can see easily what I am trying to do:
The macro should do something like this basically:
Column A there is a entry like "L110E (CST_PRG-Wheel Loaders-E series models)"
Lets say we have 10.000 entries more or less like this.
Macro should do this:
* Take first word for example in this case "L110E" and copy into column D same row.
* Take second word's second part in this case only "PRG" and copy into column B same row.
* Take the 3rd word between - - in this case only "Wheel Loaders" and copy into column C.
I need to build a macro which will look for a specific word say :"ABC" in a particular column say "B" and delete 5 rows including the row containing the word "ABC"
