Create Macro That Can Create Dynamic Copy / Paste Loop?
Feb 12, 2014
I need to create a macro that can create a dynamic copy/paste loop. So far what I have is horribly inefficient. Each row in colmn A(minus the header) has a unique number in it. For each unique number, I need to paste it based on the number of column headers in row 1(minus column A). So, if there are 20 column headers, I need to copy cell A2 and paste it 19 times in another sheet. Then, I need to move to the next number in column A and do the same thing. Here's what I have:
You can see that this is not dynamic. If I add another row to my table and rerun the macro, it will not catch it. I've attached a sample file to show you the big picture of what I'm trying to do. The data that I have is in Sheet1, and I'm trying to get it into the format in Sheet3. Rows/columns will be periodically added to the table in Sheet1, so the macro needs to be dynamic to catch that. The data in Sheet3 will always remain, and the macro will add the updated data below the old data in Sheet3.
On the "Complete Backlog" tab of my workbook, I want users to enter in the requested information based on the column header. Then I would like a Macro attached to a button that says "Refresh" that the user would click after they have entered in all of the information. This macro should look in Column M (WIP Status) and if any of the cells say "Close", it should Cut the entire row from the spreadsheet(Ex. A2:M2) and Paste it into the speadsheet titled "Closed Jobs".
This is so that as jobs are closed/finished, they are removed and stored on a separate sheet. The items would have to be pasted so that it pastes into the next available row - not just on top of each other.
I also need another macro that i can put into a button that doesn't "delete" a row from the sheet, but just copies over to another sheet - so that there are two instances in the workbook.
If would look something like: If a cell in "Column G / Director" of the "Complete Backlog" speadsheet is equal to "Snodgress" then copy columns A-L of the same row to the spreadsheet titled "Snodgress" - of course skipping down the rows to the next blank row.
.....is equal to "Herr" copy row to "Herr" spreadsheet. ....is equal to "McCormick" copy row to "McCormick" spreadsheet. and so on.
I am trying to create a Macro that will let me copy and paste the Inventory with the Corresponding SKU on a different spreadsheet, I have attached the Spreadsheet, Sheet 1 is the Missing Quantities and Sheet 2 has the updated Quantities that will need to be identified by SKU from Sheet 1 to Sheet 2.
I am looking for a macro that will allow me to create a dynamic range based on the settings I give it. I would like the dynamic range to be called tracking_number and it to have a reference to =Offset(MainReport!$A$2,0,0,COUNTA(MainReport!$A:$A),1)
If this is possible I would really appreciate it. The reason I need this is because I have 2 workbooks. They are the one with the MainReport in it and then the Master workbook. Every day the workbook containing the MainReport is overwritten with more data, so I can not store a dynamic range and reference it each day.
i want to create dynamic Excel Charts in one sheet ,The sheeet contain dynamic columns and rows and i want to create for each 4 columns a chart in a new sheet ,i started to try it in VBA and didnt founs the way to select 4 columns as a range, i succeseed to do it with msgboox that the user enter the range but i want to do it in a loop
I am have average excel knowledge with formulas and I am relatively new to the creation of Macros. I was told by my boss that he wants me to create a Macro that will palce a time stamp in the bottom left corner of the page (via the footer) that updates automatically every time a sheet is worked on. Please provide any help or assistance that can get me through this task.
I am currentyly using VB to extract some data sets to another tab in the same workbook. I would like to extract the same data to a new workbook that is already created upon running a macro. How do I specify the location of the new workbook and sheets so the code will extract and input correctly?
The code I am currently using is:
Dim Events As Range ' ' Application. ScreenUpdating = False
Set Events = Worksheets("Inputs").Range("L41:L90") Worksheets("Results").Range("A5:FX5004").Clear Worksheets("Results").Range("A5009:FX10010").Clear
How would I create a shortcut to automatically copy the contents of cell H1 to cell K1, in other word I would like to hit a shortcut key and have the contents of that cell pasted 3 cells to the right on the same line. I have to do this over and over again down the worksheet. I am working on taxes and want to copy values over to the expenses column as I find them.
I would also like to know if it is possible while having cell D1 highlighted I could have a shortcut created that would copy the value three cells over in H1 to cell K1. That would be the fastest, but I don't know if it is possible?
I need a macro that will create a new blank worksheet, move it to the last spot and paste the entire contents of the sheet named "master" into the newly created sheet. I have tried to do this with the recorder but have been unable to get it to work.
I have a financial model (attached) which calculates the final cash flows (in a calculation sheet named 9.Operations, rows 428 to 437) for a particular plot. However, the model has a list of 17 plots in the input sheet (3.Input-Plot Details). The macro must change the plot number in the 9.Operations sheet(cell G11), re-calculate the final cash flows and paste all the final cash flows for 1 to 17 plots in a single separate sheet consecutively.
1) Select/Copy rows 1 thru 35 of column C from "Start" tab. 2) Special Paste/transpose them in row 2 of "Finish" tab (1st 35 columns in row 2 should fill up). 3) Go back to "Start" tab, move exactly three rows down from bottom of previous selection in column C and copy the next 35 rows (rows 38 thru 72 in column C). 4) Again return to "Finish" tab, and special paste/transpose in next row down (row 3 in this case). 5) Continue to repeat this action until all rows of data in column C have been copied and transposed/pasted from "Start" tab to "Finish" tab. Variable number of rows on "Start" tab.
Let's say sheet - "delivery" - has a row1 that includes all possible delivery days. So A1 is 1.9.2013, B1 is 15.9.2013, C1 is 1.10.2013 and so on.
I want to make a macro, that will gradually go through whole row 3 in sheet "delivery" and look for "A1" date in sheet "Orders". Sheet "orders" have for example in column B the date of delivery, and in column C product of the delivery.
I want the macro to find all deliveries with "A1" date, and paste all products that will be delivered on this day under cell A1 (sheet delivery). then move on to the cell B1 (sheet delivery) - find all orders in sheet orders, that will be delivered on B1 date, and list all products with this delivery date under cell B1 (sheet delivery).
Sheet order A B C
Date of delivery Product
Unfortunately simple Pivot table is not able to do this simple list.
I have a dynamic table which is linked to a couple of charts. The table must remain dynamic.
I needed to add two new columns to the table, "Focus Area" and "Category". I need a drop down list in the "Category" column to be dependent on the item selected from a drop down menu in "Focus Area".
I can get the first row of the dynamic table to do this.... however; subsequent rows all lock the drop down list in the "Category" column to the same choices regardless of what is chosen in the "Focus Area" list.
Is there a way to make dynamic drop downs within a dynamic table?
Iam looking for macro to copy rows based on partial cell content of a column. I have an excel spreadsheet called "arc.xlsx" from which I would like to copy data to other few new excel files when certain criteria are met. The excel file contained location is C:Documents and SettingsxxxxDesktopCompany.
Below is a sample of arc.xlsx
GP CUST_NO BR CUST_NAME day mo year I1 999999 1 SMITH 0 8 9 I1 999999 ab SMITH 4 8 9 I1 999999 cd SMITH 4 10 9 I1 999999 1 SMITH 4 1 10
I would like the macro to copy rows that have 'ab' in the column c (with title BR)and save it in a new excel file with name ab.xlsx in the same location folder. And the same for 'cd', '01' and '02' by saving the data in files with name cd.xlsx, 01.xlsx so on.
I am trying write code withVBA to save separate file in a different folder with Loop.
Write a code with "loop" till it finds empty cell in the column and for every change in number a separate file needs to be saved in specified folder with file name as "10010, 10011,10012... and so on with data copied in the file saved.
I need a macro… when I run the macro.. I want to create work sheet based in the shift time and copy entire row related to that shift time of all the cell to that particular sheet… there may be multiple rows related to same shift time but remaining data may be different..
I have an excel sheet that will have a column with out of sequence numbers. I need a script that will evaluate each row and insert a row and the missing sequence. Below is the code I have written but I keep getting a compile error saying Else without If.
I'm sure this is easy but I'm trying to create a for...next loop that goes across the row. My final output will be basically be to see if the cell says Saturday or Sunday and offset by 2 rows and highlight the rest of the column.
Range("A1").Select For X = 2 To Range(Activecell, Selection.End(xlRight)).Column Range(2, X).Select ActiveCell.Value = "Column" Next X
That's what I came up with but it doesn't seem to be right.
But - this is now the formula stored in the macro. So everytime I run the macro I get this exact same formula, not the new formula I created with the previous action. How can I get this new formula to show in the macro, or just have the macro convert the text in the cell into a formula by deleting the " ' " charcter on the front?
is it possible to have an dynamic list, so that when I add in a new entry in to the input column, the output column will automatically change to the same thing. Also then my dropdown will realise a new entry has been inputted (uses the output list) and the list will update to show this.
Enclosed is a copy of a workbook in Excel 2003, in which I copied the VBA from a web site to see how that works. I am not a guru in Excel but always curious to see how things can be achieved to maybe enhance it in the future use. I have tried everything based on my knowledge but did not succeed.
