=MAX(A1:A50) will write the highest value in whatever field the formula is written in, but is there a way for the number itself to be highlighted in its given location within the colum.For example, if A 21 contains the highest value in column A, can that cell be highlighted?
I have a list of part numbers that have duplicates because each time there is a different unit price the part number is listed.In my excel file, I also have quantities for each unit price the various different part numbers were sold at. I need a way to
identify: for each part number, what the unit price was for the highest qty sold. I am involved in a project at work and this information is needed.
I have a spreadsheet of several thousand named items (in column B) with values associated with them in column A). The "name" field is a string of several alternative names for the item.
I have a list of ~50 items that I am trying to find the values for. Each uses one of the alternate names.
What I want is a function that will return the associated value in column A when one of my shortlist names is found.
For example, my big spreadsheet looks like:

I need to locate the highest number in column b then in column c minus the users score from the highest so they can see how much they are behind the highest score. eg.

I have a row of numbers (per example below) and I would like to return the column header for the max value and the second highest value, even when the second highest value is the same as the max value.
For example

The return values are under the highest and second highest column headers?
I am tying to find a way that I can get the highest value in a column of data depending on a set criteria, I have used the following =MAX(IF($C2:$C$109=$C2,IF(CJ$1=K$1,IF($D2:$D$109=$D2,K$2:K$109,0)))) and it works for the first row, I can drag it across ok, but if I drag it down it just populates the same value as the cell the formula started in even though the IF logical test has changed??
Can you please Help fix or offer alternative.
Also is it possible (say the above worked) to add to the formula so that it returns a value from another cell in the same row that it found the highest value? e.g. =MAX(IF($C2:$C$109=$C2,IF(CJ$1=K$1,IF($D2:$D$109=$D2,K$2:K$109,0)))) say this returned the value and it was found in K52 it would return me the value in B52
I Have Data in my excel where i need to findout the Duplicates as well as unique if there are duplicates in the given column.
For eg In Column "M" if there are Five "ABC" so i need all the five ABC as a Duplicates and not only 4 ABC as Duplicates and one as Unique.

Is there a way that I could write a formula so that Excel returns the column letter of the last cell without a letter at the end of it? So it kind of looks like this:

Starting at C6 and running down the C column there is a numerical list of values which have been generated from a PivotTable. Macros and Often I find it challenging to locate the last row and/or column on my worksheet.
Any specific syntax, command or function I need to use?
I will be working with an array of data approx 500 rows by 50 columns (eg Sheet1!$A$1:$CV$500) in which I will need to check if approx 1000 unique values exist and in which column they appear in. Each unique value should not appear in more than 1 column. Once identified, I need to return the header value at the top of the relevant column.
My thoughts on approach would be perform a lookup of some sort to identify the column number and then use that within an index formula to return the header value based on the column number.
However, I'm not sure how to perform a lookup to get the column number. A match formula can, as far as I am aware, only lookup against a single column or single row.
How can I identify the last cell of a single column range . . . i.e. the last cell address of range C1..C15 is C15. The range will have a name of "reg".
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a worksheet where columns C, F, I, L, O record scores within a league. Each row records a persons score in that league and there are two rows per person recording their score and their handicap score. So Person A would be on rows 3, 4, Person B on 5, 6 etc. The persons name is recorded in Column B.
What I would like to do is to have a cell(s) elsewhere in the worksheet which show the highest score in that league and display that score and the name of the person who achieved it. This ideally would need to be done for the highest score and the highest handicap score.
For the life of me I can't even begin to work out how to do that or even know if it is possible in Excel.
So to clarify, lets say the highest score is in cell L7 and the highest handicap score was in M3. The cell(s) containing this formula should then show the name in B7 and the score in L7 and below it the name in B3 and the score in M3.
I WANT it to search all of column A for the highest number in the range (which will change daily to a new high number above the highest currently), and return the value in column 4 (column D) that corresponds to that value from column A. This is what I have, but it is not working, it is giving me the number (1) in Cell A800 (which is the lowest valued number in my range. The numbers range in value from 1 to 762 with none repeating (they are sequential). The formula I have is :

I am looking to have the items in column K 1 through 16 listed from highest to lowest and at the same time post the corresponding number from column J 1 through 16.
So that it reads as follows:

Item 04 has 18 points and is listed in 6 columns etc.
How can I get Excel to do this?
Im looking to find the max or highest time in column G based on the criteria (date selected and name) So if the date is the 10/02/2014 in G10 it would look up that date and the name and bring back the time in column H. I have put an example answer in H12.

how to acquire the latest rating of the horse by using the following formula.

This works a treat but for the life of me I can't fathom out how to get the formula to pick the latest three ratings and place them on sheet 2.

I have a pivot table and perhaps that isnt the best way to do this. (Sample attached). Ultimately I need to display two columns only:
Application (ColA) Business (ColC)
There are three columns of data.
Applications (ColA) Usage(ColB) Business (ColC)
There are multiple instances of the same application in ColA, ColB has usage =true or blank and ColC has multiple instances of the same business.
Based on the count of Application in ColA, and the count of Usage =True, I need to return the Business with the MAX count.
Note: the usage cannot be a filter, it must be a count.
So i'm try to automate a process that I currently do using filters.
Here is the problem:
I have a list of text in a column (usually 700 or so entries).
I need to remove any entries that contain 1 of 42 keywords.
So I need a fast way to search each cell for each one of the 42 key words and flag the cell for deletion if contains anyone of the 42.

3 This field doesn't have any of the 42 keywords
somewhere else I would have a list of keywords in a column.
I’m keeping tabs of some clay pigeon shooting scores. I go to alternate locations each week and normally shoot 100 clays, however sometimes it’s only 50. I’ve used MAX to find the highest score in Column D of a spreadsheet and it did what I required. However I now wish to find the highest number in Column D - but only include rows if Column C = P and column E =100.

In other words I want to find the highest score for location P but only if that week it was out of 100 shots. It would return 66. Then I can do the same formula for location A and it would return 62. I can’t see how to do this and have searched the forum to no avail. It doesn’t look like I can just use the MAX anymore and I’ve tried incorporating that into a (nested) IF but unsuccessfully.
I have an array of data with multiple codes stored in text...
I want to set a formula in a cell to look for all instances of specific text in an array. Then compare the value of all of the column headings, which are numbered across the top of the array, which contain a match in that column and return the highest value.
Example: 10x10 array, columns 1,3, and 5 contain "text" somewhere in those columns. Formula would return 5.
