Separate Workbook By Value In Column Into Separate Workbooks
Feb 25, 2013I have 10 very large workbooks that are all setup in the same format. In column Z is a numerical value from 1 to 83. I have been trying to filter the sheet and then copy one at a time from 1 to 83 but that takes a LONG time especially when there is 10 workbooks to do.
Is there anyway I can run a function or macro or something that would just automatically look down the column Z and put each row into a it's own workbooks?
I have attached a sample of what the workbooks look like right now.

Color Column Charts Based On Font Color Data Cells
Oct 27, 2009I have attached the relevant spreadsheet for which I need to alter the color of the columns based on Site number ( Sheet 1). % Mortality will be represented in the Y-Axis, and the Site numbers would be on the X-Axis. All columns (% Mortality) except one will be of the same color, and the one of a different color will indicate a specific site. As an example, site 86 is colored differently. The way I require the chart to look is shown on Sheet 1.
After reading through some great posts on Ozgrid, I managed to do this using conditional formatting (Sheet 2), but that sort of falls short because I am required to add a data table to the chart, and the parameter that is indicated by the column bars happens to appear twice in the data table.
I was wondering if this can be automated maybe using VBA, but with the possibility of simply matching the color of columns with the font color of respective entry in the data series.

Feb 4, 2010I am tying to find a way that I can get the highest value in a column of data depending on a set criteria, I have used the following =MAX(IF($C2:$C$109=$C2,IF(CJ$1=K$1,IF($D2:$D$109=$D2,K$2:K$109,0)))) and it works for the first row, I can drag it across ok, but if I drag it down it just populates the same value as the cell the formula started in even though the IF logical test has changed??
Can you please Help fix or offer alternative.
Also is it possible (say the above worked) to add to the formula so that it returns a value from another cell in the same row that it found the highest value? e.g. =MAX(IF($C2:$C$109=$C2,IF(CJ$1=K$1,IF($D2:$D$109=$D2,K$2:K$109,0)))) say this returned the value and it was found in K52 it would return me the value in B52

May 20, 2014I have a spreadsheet where columns I through V are date fields (stored as text as some have letters after the date). Is there a way that I could write a formula so that Excel returns the column letter of the last cell without a letter at the end of it? So it kind of looks like this:

What I want in the column with the formula then would be just the letter J. Is this even do-able?

I'd like some code that will scan down the C column and copy the highest 10 values in that column and the contents of the cell in the corresponding A column starting at F5 and finishing at F15 (a top ten list).

So that if someone was to change the color of any tab then the color of the corrosponding color of a column in the chart would change automatically if the color of a TAB is changed.

Dec 6, 2013I need to look up the name in E2 in the list in column A and if it matches then lookup name in F2 in list column b, if it matches then the corresponding number in column C is displayed in column G. If neither names are in the 2 columns the words"Not on lists" is displayed in cell in column G.
The other problem is one name is spelled two different ways I want it to look for both spelling before moving on to looking up the second name.
I started with this formula but I'm getting #N/A or "not on list" when they are on the list. I'm using ranges prod_sum is columns AthruC, Last_name is range BthruC. =IF(AND(VLOOKUP(F4,prod_sum,3,0),VLOOKUP(I4,last_name,2,0)),"not on list")
Find Highest Value In Column And Then Copy Contents Of Another Cell In That Row?
Aug 18, 2014I have a worksheet where columns C, F, I, L, O record scores within a league. Each row records a persons score in that league and there are two rows per person recording their score and their handicap score. So Person A would be on rows 3, 4, Person B on 5, 6 etc. The persons name is recorded in Column B.
What I would like to do is to have a cell(s) elsewhere in the worksheet which show the highest score in that league and display that score and the name of the person who achieved it. This ideally would need to be done for the highest score and the highest handicap score.
For the life of me I can't even begin to work out how to do that or even know if it is possible in Excel.
So to clarify, lets say the highest score is in cell L7 and the highest handicap score was in M3. The cell(s) containing this formula should then show the name in B7 and the score in L7 and below it the name in B3 and the score in M3.

Sep 4, 2009I WANT it to search all of column A for the highest number in the range (which will change daily to a new high number above the highest currently), and return the value in column 4 (column D) that corresponds to that value from column A. This is what I have, but it is not working, it is giving me the number (1) in Cell A800 (which is the lowest valued number in my range. The numbers range in value from 1 to 762 with none repeating (they are sequential). The formula I have is :

On Sheet 2 I have 3 columns. These are the list of horses that are running on a particular day.

What I want to do is to be able to list in columns D,E,and F on sheet 2 the last three ratings the horses achieved from sheet 1.
how to acquire the latest rating of the horse by using the following formula.

This works a treat but for the life of me I can't fathom out how to get the formula to pick the latest three ratings and place them on sheet 2.

Oct 26, 2009I’m keeping tabs of some clay pigeon shooting scores. I go to alternate locations each week and normally shoot 100 clays, however sometimes it’s only 50. I’ve used MAX to find the highest score in Column D of a spreadsheet and it did what I required. However I now wish to find the highest number in Column D - but only include rows if Column C = P and column E =100.

In other words I want to find the highest score for location P but only if that week it was out of 100 shots. It would return 66. Then I can do the same formula for location A and it would return 62. I can’t see how to do this and have searched the forum to no avail. It doesn’t look like I can just use the MAX anymore and I’ve tried incorporating that into a (nested) IF but unsuccessfully.

In a previous post i was shown how to identify the highest grade
MAX(IF(A$3:A$34=A7,C$3:C$34))
I hit CTRL, SHIFT & ENTER to activate the formula - Result in column E
However, I also want to identify the subject in which they scored their highest grade in column F
I have two problems
1. I don't know how to write a formula that brings in the subject based on the grade for each student
2. I don't know how to write a formula in case there is a tie (see DAVID L)

As I said the cell range will be in the same column. So highlight the highest number green and lowest number red in cells a3 to a9 and then repeat the same process again in cells a11 to a17 and so on.the cell references are an example.

VBA Extract Highest And Second Highest Values
Nov 27, 2013I'm attempting to put together a script which in simple terms finds the 'Highest and Second' highest activity and associated FTE for a given sub group.
To be more specific:
On the "Slide 1" sheet look at the values in column J starting at row 7 until blank;For each value, then search the "All Monthly Direct Activities" sheet in column C for the same value, excluding the 'Subtotal' rows;Where a match is found, compare all the values in column E for that sub group;And Find the highest and second highest figure;
Once these are found copy this figure and associated value in column B and paste onto the "slide 1" sheet.
I'm not particularly well versed in writing VB, but I've been working with the code to see if I can get this work, which I have been unable to do.
I have attached a file which may perhaps provide a greater detail than my description of the problem containing the 'Source' and 'Destination' sheets.
