I have the following code which copies a sheet to another workbook and renames it with the current date. However I need it to check if there is a sheet already existing in the other workbook with todays date first. If there is then it should delete the old sheet and copy the new sheet or just overwrite it.
I have an Excel sheet that I convert to PDF --here is Example of the name after PDF creates"Morning Report_08.16.14" , When it runs it just overwrites the file automatically if one was already on that date - I would like it to prompt to overwrite & if they choose 'yes' to overwrite the file and if not they can change the name If the new one is in addition to the one that already exists and I want it to save the new file with in the same folder.
Also when the current code is run if the PDF was left opened it stops the macro - Is it possible to see if that file is open and if so close it down so the code will work or is it possible to overwrite the file when open.
I am currently using a macro to copy a sheet from a closed workbook in to my current workbook. However this copying is based on the sheet name. At present when I run the following code
sheet1 and sheet2 What i want to do is this if (a1 in sheet1) is found in (e1:e30 in sheet2) to copy cell from collum C (row which the value was found in) to (a4 in sheet1) if there is more then one then copy the next one to a5 in sheet1 etc
I have tryied vlookup hlookup but this does not work
I have an array that opens a workbook containing close to 100 worksheets, and copies specific sheet names into there own individual workbooks. The problem I have now, is that I assume the worksheet exists in the workbook, but often times it does not Is there a way to add some sort of "catch" that will 1st verify the worksheet exists instead of my code crashing?
I have written a routine that automatically saves the file to a specified folder as the name of a cell from one of the worksheets. I am trying to use the following code to see if that filename already exists and stop the routine if it does. If I manually enter an existing filename the routine works well, however I cannot get it to recognise the automatically created filename, here is my .....
I have a macro that 'opens all' workbooks in the specified folder. I've copied it over, but need to only open all the wbk's if a specified worksheet exists w/in the wbk..I know there is a dim ws statement that can be used, but how do i use it w/ the current macro?
Option Explicit Sub recTestOpenAll() Dim x As Integer Dim WB As String Dim wbk As Workbook For x = 1 To 100 WB = "G:Rule Test FilesREC " & x & ".xls" On Error Resume Next Set wbk = Workbooks.Open(Filename:=WB) On Error Goto 0 If Not wbk Is Nothing Then End If Next End Sub
I know this is my third thread, but I have made sure that I have trawled through other threads before posting. I have created some VBA to collect data from multiple workbooks and paste them into one workbook, Basically the copy and paste script runs according to how many tabs are in the summary workbook because each tab ( sheet) is essentially a condensed version of a workbook. Unfortunately some workbooks I am getting the info from don't have the right data that the copy and paste program is looking for or sometimes the document doesn't exist, is there anyway of telling my VBA to pass this tab if the document doesn't exist instead of throwing up a VBA debug error?
I can delete Sheet5 using this macro. I would like to put this in the workbook so that when I close the workbook it will be activated if Sheet5 exists. If Sheet5 does not exist nothing will happen.
Sub DeleteSheet5 () Application.DisplayAlerts = False Sheets("Sheet5").Delete Application.DisplayAlerts = True End Sub
how to mark the post as solved other than go advanced and selecting solved from the drop down menu can you tell me how?
suppress range name already exists when coping out workbook. I’m coping the selected worksheet out to another workbook…sometimes I get a message that a range name already exists and do I want to rename or not?. I always want to say no (don’t rename)…?
Application. ScreenUpdating = False On Error Resume Next Dim wb As Workbook Dim ws As Worksheet Set ws = ActiveSheet Set wb = Application.Workbooks.Open("\03-serverdatadatabasemarterialListingsArchive.xls") If Err.Number <> 0 Then MsgBox Err.Description & "help" Else 'ws.Copy After:=wb.Sheets(wb.Sheets.Count) ws.Move After:=wb.Sheets(wb.Sheets.Count) wb.Save wb.Close 'ActiveWindow.SelectedSheets.Delete End If Application.ScreenUpdating = True MsgBox "Worksheet has been Archived..."
I'm having a slight problem with this script. What I'm looking to do is before the workbook is closed is check to see if the workbook already exisits on the users desktop if it doesnt then save it to the users desktop. if is does exists then just exit the sub. Here is what I have so far but for some reason it kept displaying the aleart message that the file already exists and wants to save it again.
I just added the displayalerts = false in but the script still does not know that file already exists. So when the file is closed it keeps saying file has been placed on your desktop.
I am trying to write some code that will copy the worksheets from one workbook (wkbSource) to another (wkbTarget), but I need it to maker sure the worksheets being copied from wkbSource don't already exist in wkbTarget. If they do exist, it just skips and moves to the next worksheet. Here is the code I have already, I thought that by adding the On Error Resume Next to the code it would just skip it, but for some reason it is still copying the first duplicate workbook, then it skips.
Code: Dim wkbSource As Workbook Dim wkbTarget As Workbook Dim WorkbookName As String WorkbookName = ThisWorkbook.Name
I would like to have a macro designed. I have 2 workbooks, one having latest information and the other having the information in database already. both workbooks have 26 columns each. I would like to check if a value that exists in Column A of the "latest-information" workbook also exists in the "already-in-database" workbook. If so, I would like to update all 26 columns of that row in the "already-in-database" workbook with information from the "latest-information" workbook. If the value does not exist, I would like to add all 26 fields in that row into a new sheet on the "already-in-database" workbook.
I have created a workbook with several subsheets for different departments in my company to fill in there respective data that feeds a main sheet that colates all the info. I've designed a macro that basically breaks the department sheets into seperate workbooks so that i can send them to the different people to complete. When the files return, I could sit there pasting the data back into the main workbook but really I would rather have a macro that overwrites the sheet in the main work book with the completed sheet of the same name.
Maybe I havent done this correctly, but when i try to move the sheet from the department workbook back to the main workbook it just creates a (2) copy. I want it to replace the sheet rather than create a copy.
Trying to create a new workbook from another open workbook, then copying all the sheets that aren't called "Summary" to that new open workbook and then saving it. I get a subscript error on this line:
I want to create a hyperlink to a sheet named "adsf"
I am currently in a worksheet named: "62b Arcus"
I want the hyperlink to be set by grabbing the name from another cell.
For example, In cell h7, I have the text: adsf
In cell g7, I want to place a formula such as: =HYPERLINK("adsf!")
Except, instead of this, I want: =HYPERLINK("h7!")
In this way, i want it to hyperlink to a sheet name based on the text that is in h7.
But neither of these formulas work. Both say the following: "Cannot Open the Specified File"
After reading up on this I have discovered that I must save the file and include the file name inside the formula.
My file name is: [Maintenance Color Codes of Houses - colour coded2.xlsm] =HYPERLINK("[Maintenance Color Codes of Houses - colour coded2.xlsm]adsf!A1","LINK")
This hyperlink actually works. Yet I have a problem. What if I rename the file. For this reason, I want it to grab the current file name using "filename". I have tried this by the following:
I know that I have probably created a ridiculous formula for what I am after. I'm almost there but not quite. You may know something far, far more simple.
I am looking for a code that would copy the data from each worksheet in a given workbook and then paste to just one worksheet within a different workbook. The Sheet names are auto generated when I run this canned report but the naming structure is always the same...the first worksheet is named Repair Details and then the next sheet is named Repair Details_1, the next sheet is named Repair Details_2 and so on for every sheet in workbook. So I would like to copy all of the data(Headers to last cell) and then paste in a worksheet(ex: Master Repair Report.xlsx and the worksheet could be titled Master Repair Details) on a different workbook, then the next sheet would copy from the one under the header to the last record and paste to the same workbook. This process would repeat for every worksheet in the Repair Details Workbook and paste to Master Repair Details worksheet in the Master Repair Report workbook.
I have been tasked with creating a macro which creates a new workbook wherein each sheet contains the information for one site from the active sheet. The active sheet already has the values sorted by the site such that all information needing to be copied from the active sheet into the new workbook is together.
I.E.
ATL ATL ATL ATL CEN CEN JCK JCK etc.
There are 8 different sites on the active sheet: ATL, CEN, DAL, HAR, JAS, JCK, VIS, NOV
The macro needs to find the range for all of the data of each site and copy/paste that data into a new workbook such that ATL would have its own sheet, CEN would have its own sheet, and so on. The data ranges from A:R.
So, for example, the macro would find that the last row with ATL in the "B" column is 6095 and would then copy A2:R6095 and insert that data into the new workbook under Sheet 1.
I had some code that I had adapted to select the range for each of them, but the code loops through the entire sheet (which is 44,307 rows long) for each site making it a quite clunky and very slow step in an even longer macro. Since the data is already sorted, I know there must be a way to have the macro stop searching when it reaches data not equal to the data the row before, however, my experience with VBA is limited, and I have been unable to find a solution. Also, the data does not have to be conserved after being sent to the new workbook, if that would speed up the macro.
I have a spreadsheet which has all the names of trips from a warehouse, the day that they operate (1,2,3 etc) and the job line allocated to each trip. It looks something like that:
A B C DAYTRIPCUST
I would like to create a macro that will be creating 7 new workbooks and then in those workbooks as many sheets as the trips. In these sheets, the customers should be displayed.
How do I write it? I could not find how to have a "dynamic choice" in the macro. I.e. not to have the criteria as "1", "trips1" but to choose from the range of inputs that are available.
I was trying to use Sheet1 (data input sheet) to collect 33 values and write them to Sheet2 as a row. I wanted the user to be able to make changes/corrections. So if the set of data with same date and shift number is entered for a second time, my macro should be able to over-write the existing row in Sheet2. Have been digging for days yet with no avail.
I am trying to create a macro which copies the data of one column every time I click on it. However, every time I click on it I overwrite the data I already copied. What do I have to do, that instead of overwriting my data it copies it to the next free column.
if i run my macro that saves a sheet as a certain name and then prints it, it works, but if i run my macro and the file already exists it asks me to overwrite it. If i select yes it prints it and carrys on with the rest of the macro, (good). If i select no the macro fails. How can i get it so if i hit no, it runs the rest of the macro after the print command?
I am trying to set up a macro in excel that will include a save as. This should overwrite an old file. The problem is that I can't get the macro to overwrite. Instead the popup "Do you want to overwrite?" appears and I have to click "OK" manually. Can this be done automaticaly? What is the VB code for it?
in cell A1 i have the balance. i would like to record the balance every time it reaches a new high in cell B1. how would this be possible please using excel 2007
Column A (Plan Date) and Column B (Date Recieved) contain date value. If B2 is blank, A2 will maintain the date entered in it. However if B2 has date (either earlier or later than A2) it will supersede the date with the date value in B2.
I've struggled to find the code to unzip files using VBA but I finally found it and it works (using Shell).
The problem is that I want to unzip all zip files in a folder but my zip files contain 3 files:
1 csv file that I want to keep and 1 xml and 1 txt file that I want to delete.
I can't just unzip everything and deal with the txt and xml later because the xml and txt files all have the same name. So if I don't do anything, I have a series of overwriting messages prompting me to click yes or no. So what I want is either to delete xml and txt one by one after they are created or get rid of the overwriting prompt. I've tried to put a kill or delete file just after the unzip command but it doesn't work - it's telling me that the txt file doesn't exist (should I add some sort of refreshing command ?) and I couldn't find anything on google about overwriting text or xml files.
