Suppress Range Name Already Exists When Coping Out Workbook

May 5, 2006

suppress range name already exists when coping out workbook. I’m coping the selected worksheet out to another workbook…sometimes I get a message that a range name already exists and do I want to rename or not?. I always want to say no (don’t rename)…?

Application. ScreenUpdating = False
On Error Resume Next
Dim wb As Workbook
Dim ws As Worksheet
Set ws = ActiveSheet
Set wb = Application.Workbooks.Open("\03-serverdatadatabasemarterialListingsArchive.xls")
If Err.Number <> 0 Then
MsgBox Err.Description & "help"
Else
'ws.Copy After:=wb.Sheets(wb.Sheets.Count)
ws.Move After:=wb.Sheets(wb.Sheets.Count)
wb.Save
wb.Close
'ActiveWindow.SelectedSheets.Delete
End If
Application.ScreenUpdating = True
MsgBox "Worksheet has been Archived..."

Test And Sum The Same Range Of Cells In Each Sheet By Simply Coping And Pasting The Formula

Feb 2, 2010

On Sheet1, Row 2 I have my columns named January-December, which correspond to the names of the other 12 sheets in my workbook. I want to test and sum the same range of cells in each sheet by simply coping and pasting the formula. I am using INDIRECT and SUMPRODUCT, but is there a better way? It seems to have caused the sheet to run slowly. Perhaps it's just the amount of data. Here is an example of the formulas I am using:

=SUMPRODUCT((INDIRECT("'"&B2&"'!$B$3:$B$200")=$A$2)*(INDIRECT("'"&B2&"'!$C$3:$C$200")="Yes")*(INDIRE CT("'"&B2&"'!$E$3:$E$200")))

This gives me the intended result. B2 in this case is January. C2 is February and so forth.

Copy Entire Row By Range & Suppress 'Cannot Edit Links' Message

Jun 25, 2008

I have 10 workbooks which have various calculations and have several links to each other. We use Excel 2003.

For each of these files, I have the following code in the Auto_Open module
Range Range(“TodayComp”) is a date taken form a link in another spreadsheet. It is on Column 3, but the row changes every day as more rows are inserted before it

This sub looks at Range(“TodayComp”) and checks the date on the cell directly above.

If say Range(“TodayComp”) is 6/25/2008, and the cell above is 6/22/2008, it will insert three rows right above Range(“TodayComp”). These rows need to be copied with formulas from the current row above Range(“TodayComp”)

Issue One:
The following code works (it copies the rows), but it takes forever to run, as you can see in bold, I copy and paste each cell, instead of the entire row.
Is there a way to copy and paste the entire row? Remember that I have only a named range to refer to, no cell address as it changes every time.

Public Sub Auto_open()
Update_Dates()
End Sub

Public Sub Update_Dates()
Dim tdy, prev As Date
Dim index, i, j, yr, no_inserts As Integer

Sheets("Comparison Computation").Activate

Check Workbook Exists Before Opening

Oct 7, 2007

I know this is my third thread, but I have made sure that I have trawled through other threads before posting. I have created some VBA to collect data from multiple workbooks and paste them into one workbook, Basically the copy and paste script runs according to how many tabs are in the summary workbook because each tab ( sheet) is essentially a condensed version of a workbook. Unfortunately some workbooks I am getting the info from don't have the right data that the copy and paste program is looking for or sometimes the document doesn't exist, is there anyway of telling my VBA to pass this tab if the document doesn't exist instead of throwing up a VBA debug error?

I'm having a slight problem with this script. What I'm looking to do is before the workbook is closed is check to see if the workbook already exisits on the users desktop if it doesnt then save it to the users desktop. if is does exists then just exit the sub. Here is what I have so far but for some reason it kept displaying the aleart message that the file already exists and wants to save it again.

I just added the displayalerts = false in but the script still does not know that file already exists. So when the file is closed it keeps saying file has been placed on your desktop.

Code:

Macro For Checking If Value Exists In Different Workbook And Adding If Missing

Aug 19, 2013

I would like to have a macro designed. I have 2 workbooks, one having latest information and the other having the information in database already. both workbooks have 26 columns each. I would like to check if a value that exists in Column A of the "latest-information" workbook also exists in the "already-in-database" workbook. If so, I would like to update all 26 columns of that row in the "already-in-database" workbook with information from the "latest-information" workbook. If the value does not exist, I would like to add all 26 fields in that row into a new sheet on the "already-in-database" workbook.

Automatically Populate Cells If Value Exists Within Range

Mar 22, 2013

I need to summarize some information from a different worksheet. Worksheet A(WS-A) is the summary and worksheet B (WS-B) is the source of information. On WS-B I have a range of values under the title "Materials" which I use to put together an estimate. This range has about 25 rows and not all of them are populated depending on the needs of the particular job.

If it matters, the Materials cells are populated by a drop down "list" from yet another worksheet. On the summary (WS-A) I want to show only the cells from WS-B that have a value in them so that if, within the Materials worksheet, there are only 6 rows that have data in them...only those 6 rows are shown on the summary worksheet.

Cell AO5 is a dropdown that uses '=INDIRECT(AM5) to lookup the values in the named range.

I need cell AO5's value to be used to filter rows in the current worksheet. The current problem is when i use the first dropdown in AM5 it still displays the last value, untill i use the dropdown to select a new one. This value typically will not be found and i do not want my code to execute in these cases.

Determine If Value Exists In Column & Copy Range If It Does

Mar 29, 2008

I require a row of details to be copied to another worksheet by typing in a unique ID using a macro so Sheet 1 is a data base of items (every item have a unique code like 1001, 1002 etc) and sheet 2 has a table, and next to the table is a cell, which i need to work like a search engine.

i need to be able to type the unique id in a cell, in sheet 2, then click an Add command Button. This button then finds the unique id in sheet 1, and copies all the items details in the same row, into sheet 2 in the table, then i require the search engine to be cleared for the next item to be added.
