This sheet (MWellComposite_2) is automatically generated from a data retrival system
When Sheet6 is not generated it is automatically named Sheet1.

Why does it loop back to Sheet1 & Can I stop it
So I got a list of months in a drop down box that when selected goes to the appropriate month tab that works great. But what I want to do is hide those month tabs that are in the drop down list. I'll add another drop down list with the other tabs to reference back to all the other month tabs so the user can move around. Only problem is when I do hide them they are unavailable meaning when selected it doesn't go the the appropriate tab that's hidden. I want to hide them from the user and still be able to go to them, I'm not worried about the user breaking the sheet. See attached example.
There is VB code in the "Home" sheet. Tab Links.xlsm
Is there a way to paste a list of the Links in a sheet somewhere, so that it can be easily seen, reviewed and printed out for an audit trail?
(i.e. an analogue to the F3-PasteList that gets you a list of the Names in a sheet.)
We use Excel 2003 and 2007 to track labor data for a field service company. The field tech's complete daily forms and the office staff copy/paste this data into weekly billing worksheets. They use naming conventions to show the jobs and dates in the file name (Daily Labor - Job1 - 031308.xls and Weekly Labor - week ending 3-16.xls. What I would like to do is link the daily data to the weekly forms as they come in. Is there some way to do this when the job names and the dates are always different? Can I tell Excel to expect data files based on the naming conventions as in the Weekly is named "Weekly Labor - Week Ending 3-16.xls so data files named LaborJob1310.csv, laborjob1311.csv would automatically update the weekly sheet? I can put these in a folder and link them, but I don't know how to provide an easy way to do this for the upcoming week.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe recently bought some new software at work, and I'm having trouble formatting the exported data in a way that will work with existing reports. The attached file is what the data looks like after being exported. Basically, what I'm trying to do is insert rows for the missing numbers -- i.e., each name should be followed by rows numbered 1 through 10.

My ultimate end goal is to have columns of data for each name, instead of rows:
John Smith 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
I've created a formula that can do that part, but it operates on the assumption that each name will be followed by a set number of rows.
What little I know about vba I've learned on my own, so I may just be missing something obvious.
I've found countless, very useful macros that do 1/3 of what i need. My needs:
1) A macro to look in a set network folder, and generate a list of Excel files, and display them (1 per row, just the file name if possible)
2) Each file name is a hyperlink to open that sheet
3) A macro to look at the file listed above, then list in the column B a value from a set cell. So it would ideally output:
1| RH0018.xls A1CellValue
2| RH0019.xls A1CellValue
3| RH0020.xls A1CellValue
I have a list of 9 values ranging from 1 to 9 generated by formulas in column A. they can only be "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8, or 9" and can be repetitive. Is there a formula i can use (not macro please) that will show me what values are missing from the list?

*Note there are 9 values in column A in any order. In this scenario the answer i would like shown is "3,6,9".
I have two lists of data. The Master data in sheet one and the monthly download in sheet two. I want to create a macro that will identify the new entries in sheet two and add it to the bottom of the list in sheet one.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a long list of numbers (1 to around 3000) in Column A and I need to print out only the numbers missing from that list. The numbers are sequential (except the ones missing) and there are no blank or missing cells, only missing numbers.
EXAMPLE:

.....
So I would only need to print the number 3 and 6. - it can be all in one cell, or in one column, it doesnt matter.
If seen a couple of examples but for whatever reason it doesn't work on my sheet. (Excel 2010 32 bit) I don't understand how to highlight the entire column to see this particular value is not in this list. I have two lists, I want to see what data am I missing In list 2 that I have in list one. Basically all I am trying to do is see what values are not in the second list but are in the first list so I can later add them to the second list. (Also the 2nd list is longer than the first if that makes a difference.)

This works well except that folder 0001 is copied as 1, 0032 as 32. How to modify the code so that 0001 is displayed in column A instaed of 1.

Using Excel 2013,
I clicked on a field in my RowLabels
I then clicked on the Filter Arrow for the RowField
The SelectedField prompted with the correct field of 4 possible fields
However the item I am looking for is not in the list but I can plainly see it on the screen.
Is it possible to have a formula that generate a Unique list (List 1 and List 2) of Missing values in List 2 by comparing two lists? Something like this

I have tried many different ways of coming up with a solution of this problem without writing a VBA program, however, Excel's date and time formatting scheme seem to be tripping me up. As a result, I am trying to figure out what direction to go.
I have seached the board up and down looking for a solution and I have found one problem that is midly similar but I do not fully understand the code. I have tried to modify it but to no avail.
Here is my problem:
I have 9 columns of data that are reported in 15 minute intervals for a little over 3 years. There are missing data in the data set and it would be infeasable for me to manually find and replace the missing data. (Over 110000 rows of data)
Example of data (Where "/" delienates column seperation):

So what I need to do is this:
1) Find which data times are missing
2) Add the appropriate amount of rows in between where the missing data would be
3) Add the correct dates to the new rows
4) Add "N/A" to the columns that have no data
You can see that my date and time are formatted in mm/dd/yy hh:mm

Once its in column A i can do the vlookup's to draw the other data, costs etc, over but don't know how to identify, and add, the missing codes to the list.
I have an unwanted link and I can't remove it. I have tried through the Edit Links dialog box, searched for [ in formulas throughout the workbook and gone searching manually for the reference but to no avail.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been having a small problem with my UDFs. I'm sorry if it's already been asked but english isn't my first language and I don't know the proper search key works to find my problem.
Basically, I've been programming functions destined for a single workbook so I don't use addins. If I write a function called J13F and I try to write that in one of my excel sheets, it generally doesn't work. Excel makes me write it like this:
='myfilename.xls!'J13F.J13F(Sheet!F21)
However, sometimes when I close then open my file, this won't work and excel will make me use my function normally: J13F(Sheet!F21)
I'd like to be able to use the function normally in every sheet in my workbook, how can I do that?
I am using several spreadsheets which are currently linked to specific cells in other workbooks. These are updated through dating the links whenever needed. However I would rather not use formulas in the cells at all and only have value updated by using the link function within VBA. I cannot find how to do this though.
Just to reiterate. I currently have cells that have"='\server01main_foldersubfolderDocument.xls" for example. The formula syntax is not exactly right but in the spreadsheets it is so you get the idea. These links are updated (when the workbooks are not open) when the links are update via the edit menu or a macro which does the same thing.
What I want to do is have no formula in the cells (only values) and use the feature that takes the value from the other workbooks but in VBA exclusively. This is what I have not been able to find out how to do.
I've created a spreadsheet which pulls data from about 5 other spreadsheets via links in the formula.
Unfortunately I am having trouble with these updating. I have to open the 5 individual spreadsheets in order for the data to pull across otherwise I get VALUE in every cell in the amalgamated spreadsheet.
Any thoughts why this should be the case? I've tried it in the past and it's always worked fine.
I just want to open some links in a new tab in a browser with a single click in a button.

if it would be possible to update all the links in a workbook at once. For example, say I have a worksheet which is linking to a file named something like 4-6-08 (1) and 4-6-08 (2) and so on with the number in brackets being from 1-21. Now say I have the same thing for 4-7 and 4-8 and 4-9. Now I want to change the links to point to 4-10,11,12,13 instead of 6,7,8, and 9. But still there are 21 copies of each sheet. Is there any way to change all the sources at once so all the 4-6's could become 4-10's and 4-7's to 4-11's?

Problem is that the copy/paste links function cannot be followed up with the
copy (the linked cells)/transpose option, without having the transposition
screw the links up.
i have a complex workbook. Recently, when I open it, it asks me if I want to update links. I never (that I know of) established any links to other workbooks. I see that a workbook is referenced in the "edit/links" menu, but I can find no way determine which cells, graphs, etc, in my workbook are subject to this link. I would like to get rid of this useless and bothersome issue.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got an excel file with LOTS of links... it's a sort of 'dashboard' that draws in data from all the individual data files in the company.
Recently, when I open the file it's telling me "this file contains one or more links that cannot be updates".
So... as I usually would, I use my 'find links' add in to find anything with a #REF in it... nothing.
Go into edit links and manually update each link... and they all update with no issue.
I just cannot find anything that's broken!
Is there a simple code I can add to the end of my macro that will break all existing links in the active workbook?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have several Excel files saved on a network drive at work. We run cost studies and have numerous links mixed in with these files. My question is, when we change data in one sheet, it doesn't update the other sheet where we have it linked. When you click on the address for the link you get, (\fileshareN:Raetc...) If I remove the \fileshare and leave it as N: the links update. What am I doing wrong here? It automatically adds this \fileshare piece when I add the link. When I have removed it and close it, the extra information is added and I am back at square one.
