I have searched the forum but can't find an answer to my problem. I have a list of about 3000 streets, a sample of which follows:
ARBROATH ST ARCOLA ST ARGO PL ARIES PL ARMSTRONG AVE ARTHUR AVE ARVIN CT ASHGROVE CR ASHLEY GROVE CT ASHWORTH AVE...................
I know how to populate a List Box, but rather than having to scroll through the entire lot I would like to just have to type in a few letters and the output only display streets that start with only those letters. For example, if I type in AS only the following appear in the listbox.
ASHGROVE CR ASHLEY GROVE CT ASHWORTH AVE........................
Split off from Fill Multi Select ListBox With File Paths & Open Selected Files
if I can add a other request I just thought of.
If a sheet is also in one of the workbooks list, can I add a link directly to it? For example, Workbook1 has a sheet named "MARCH".
When i'm working on sheet "MARCH" I want to be able to click on a button to see the Userform I created from the script above and see if the sheet "MARCH" is present from the other workbooks listed, if there is a sheet "MARCH" in the workbooks listed, I want another listbox to show what files contain sheet "MARCH" and link to them.
Is it possible to copy listbox value into the textbox when double click....If the user select any row from listbox and double click on it onether userform will pop up and second column of listbox entry will load into textbox automatically.
im using an adapted version of Roys database. Heres my
Private Sub cmbFindcode_Click() Application. ScreenUpdating = False Sheet3.Activate
Dim strFind, FirstAddress As String 'what to find Dim rSearch As Range 'range to search Set rSearch = Sheet3.Range("b8", Range("b65536").End(xlUp)) strFind = Me.TextBox2.Value 'what to look for Dim f As Integer If Me.TextBox2.Value = "" Then MsgBox "Please enter a Fund code to search for" Goto nullentered End If With rSearch Set c = .Find(strFind, LookIn:=xlValues) If Not c Is Nothing Then 'found it..................
This works fine for the first part - i.e it loads the data into the textboxes, and loads the headers and first search result into the listbox. However it always only loads the first search result, not all.If its not clear I can post a simplified example of the working spreadsheet.
I need to do a macro that will open a search window, the user would select a folder and it will search for a .csv file within it. Then after locating the file, it would automatically load it into a specific sheet in the workbook.
I wish for a macro to look in to a directory which remains constant, but then looks within a folder which is specified via a cell value in order to load a specific sheet from each file in to the workbook I am currently using. I wish for the loading to be done without having to open the workbooks manually, so something which opens them copies the data from the sheet specified and then closes.
This data is then to be pasted in to a new sheets within my workbook which are named after the file names that it pulls the "dump" sheet from.
As a side note, I will be using these sheets to produce calculations hopefully automatically as soon as they are loaded. They all have the same "shape" but contain differing data. Will it be easier in the long run for me to use this method of pasting data to new sheets named as their file names assuming there will be around 25 "dump" sheets needing to be loaded or would i be better having them paste all to one sheet just underneath each other with a couple of rows separating them?
I have a worksheet that contains two basic columns of data, A and B. What I would like to do is based on the value in column A, I would like to copy the contents of column B to a textfile (preserving the basic line structure and hopefully without any extra characters like quotation marks attached). So for all the values in column A = 'Account', Id like to take all the corresponding values in Column E (for example) and save them to the same file, preferably where the filename itself as 'Account.xyz'. And I would like to do this for all unique values in Column A, that is do it for 'Account' and 'AccountPrivilege' etc. Note Column A is essentially presorted alphabetically already. There are actually 1000s of rows with hundreds of unique A values so Id like to find a way to automate this process.
I am trying to open a website, then for excel to download the csv file, then for it to save it in a specific folder under a specific name and file format (excel).
I am successful at opening the website with the following code, but how to do the rest.
Sub Searchez() Dim IE As Object Set IE = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application") IE.Navigate "http://quote.morningstar.ca/Quicktakes/stock/keyratios.aspx?t=clwr®ion=USA&culture=en-CA&ops=clear" 'load web page google.com IE.Visible = True While IE.Busy DoEvents Wend
I have sheets named exactly the same as the entries of a listbox. Now I want excel to copy the value located in e35 in the worksheet previously chosen.
I tried th efollowing, but this doesn't seem to work. I simply recorded a macro doing what I wanted it to do (orange) but replaced the reference to the sheet with what I thought would be the choice the user made (green)
I recorded what I wanted but don't know how to generalise it so regardless of sheet name it can be sorted instead of specifically looking for "leanne final test" worksheet and sorting it by precise cells.
I have starred the section out so you don't have to focus on the rest of the code. Initally I ask for the file to be opened using WeeklyFN, would I need to use it again somehow ?
I have an Excel file with several tabs (worksheets), one worksheet is a "lookup table" which has customer names and addresses. I'd like to be able to have a drop down on the first page, perhaps a listbox (if that would be the best way) which would show the customer names and addresses from the lookup table page. I need to know the best way to do this. I have C++ knowledge, but VBA syntax is different. I've been playing around with the following With Worksheets(1) Set lb = .Shapes.AddFormControl(xlListBox, 100, 10, 100, 100) lb.ControlFormat.ListFillRange = "Sheet8!E18"E272"
But it won't display data from the lookup table page.
I have this script (below, Krishnakumar orignally provided this script).
I'm trying to edit it to add cell values from cells C16 and E16 along with the worksheet name it displays in listbox2. So lets say worksheet "rollover" is the sheet being displayed in the listbox2.
I would like for it to look something like this:
rollover TT:'data from cell C16' TA:'data from cell E16'
Public FilePath As String Public dic As Object Public oWB As String Public oWS As String Public aWS As Worksheet
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() Dim i As Long, wb As Workbook, n As Long With Me.ListBox2 For i = 0 To .ListCount - 1 If .Selected(i) = True Then oWS = .list(i) Set wb = Workbooks.Open(FilePath & oWB, UpdateLinks:=0) wb.Sheets(oWS).Activate Exit For End If Next End With End Sub
I am trying to save my workbook in a specific directory with a specific filename and to incorporate a date field from within the spreadsheet. I have changed the format of the cell so it does not include / as i know this would not work. Saving it is the easy part but adding in the field from the spreadsheet is where im falling over.
I've created a Form (Userform1) and a Listbox(ListBox1). The listbox is initialized by creating a File System Object so that all XLS files within a folder(Test1) are added to the Listbox. I have a Sub to call the form from a workbook. The files saved in the "Test1" folder appears in the list but I get an error when I select and launch the command to open.
Private Sub UserForm_Initialize() Dim fso As FileSystemObject Dim fld As Folder Set fso = New FileSystemObject Set fld = fso.GetFolder("c:Documents and SettingsEricDesktopTest1") For Each Fil In fld.Files If UCase(Right(Fil. Name, 3)) = "XLS" Then ListBox1.AddItem Fil.Name End If Next End Sub
Code to open workbook from the listbox
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() Workbooks.Open ActiveWorkbook.Path & "" & ListBox1 UserForm1.Hide End Sub
I am trying to create a form where a user can click a button and add a document to a workbook. The file(s) can be hidden on a seperate sheet, but ultimately should be displayed in a List Box or Combo Box. Not sure which would be better in this case. Selecting the item from the list would open the document (either through a double click functionality or a seperate button). I have the beginning of the code below.
Private Sub AddFile_Click() Dim vFile As Variant vFile = Application. GetOpenFilename("All Files,*.*", Title:=" Find file to insert") If LCase(vFile) = "false" Then Exit Sub Sheets("RefrenceSheet"). OLEObjects.Add Filename:=vFile, Link:=False, DisplayAsIcon:=False, IconLabel:=vFile End Sub
i'm having a problem with a script I have (script is below). What i'm doing is running a script that displays files in a certain folder, those files are then displayed on sheet1 column O and are linked so when they are clicked upon, the file will open. I also have a combo box with a input range of $O$O. That puts the values in column O in the combo box. Now here is a problem and request.
Problem first, when I select the file names from the combo box, they don't open the file, all it does is display the file name in combo box and that's it. how to I get it to open up the file? Now for a request, I have another sheet that is almost exactly as the one i described above. The only thing different I want is when someone clicks on a file name from the combo box, instead of it automatically linking to the file, I want them to click on a button to display the file.
Sub HyperlinkXLSFiles() ActiveSheet.Unprotect Dim lCount As Long Application. ScreenUpdating = False Application.DisplayAlerts = False Application.EnableEvents = False On Error Resume Next With Application.FileSearch .NewSearch 'Change path to suit .LookIn = "c:Sec" .FileType = msoFileTypeExcelWorkbooks ' .Filename = " Book*.xls"..................
I have a dataset that has a good number of duplicates, many of which have more than 2 records.
In these sets of duplicates, there are two fields that have many combinations of values.
I would like to find a way to COUNT THE COMBINATIONS in all of the sets of duplicates, as in, every time there is a type of a certain combination of values, create a count for it:
12345 9 9 12345 9 0
123456 9 9 123456 9 0
(Total: 2) For 9/9 and 9/0
12344567 0 0 12344567 0 0 12344567 0 0
12344567 0 0 12344567 0 0 12344567 0 0
(Total: 2) For 0/0 3x
I have attached a listing of types of combinations that I found by scanning the database, but I don't know what formula or functions would do the trick. I don't think there is something in Subtotal or the Count functionality that would apply but I will fumble around.
I need to find the total $ collected on repair orders that contain customer pay and warranty repairs. The problem is that C and W show up on differerent rows, if an RO has 4 lines 3 may be c and 1 line w. I don't know how to use pivit tables to get the info I am looking for, or if that is the best way to fnd my answer.
