I have written a few macros, which use date type variables. Because VBA uses the 1900 date system, and some workbooks use the 1904 date system, I have to first check and see if a workbook uses the 1904 date system, and if so, subtract off 1462 days where appropriate. My macros used to check the date system by using the command:
If ( ActiveWorkbook.Date1904 = True) Then nh_stringToDate = nh_stringToDate - 1462 End If
But, sometimes the macro resides in one workbook (call it macro.xls) but the currently active workbook is some other workbook (something.xls). What I really care about is the date system of macro.xls and NOT something.xls. So, instead of "ActiveWorkbook" is there some other object I can use to refer to the workbook in which the macro itself resides? I don't want to rely on using the name of the macro workbook (macro.xls) because this could change! So I need a way to simply refer to the workbook in which the macro resides.
I have a workbook with 2 worksheets being used. Sheet 1 has the months of the year starting with Jan in A1, Feb in B1 etc. On Sheet 2, I have a column of information. The first cell in the column eg. B1 has data validation list based on the months on Sheet 1. The information in the rest of the colum on Sheet 2 needs to be copied to the relevant colum on Sheet 1
I have a button in a template file (.xlt) that will save the file as the customer name in cell C4. That template file feeds an Access database and when you save the template file you are prompted with the following system message:
I'm working on a spreadsheet which needs to refer to the current date. My PC checks the system date/time daily. Can I assume that if an end-user regularly connects to the internet, their PC will have a correct system date? Does anyone know if Win2000 or Win98 automatically update the system date/time when connected to the internet?
I think this may be a little difficult (for me at least!) but would it be possible to have a list of the open workbooks popup when I run my macro, so that I may select which workbook to run it on?
The macro itself just does some formatting of the sheet, but it is contained in a master file.
I have a workbook with around 350 worksheets. A column in the main sheet contains a list of part numbers which correspond to the names of the worksheet tabs. When a cell on the main sheet containing a part number is selected I would like a macro to find the corresponding worksheet, move that worksheet to the end of the row of tabs and open it.
i have a user form with 4 combo boxes and one text box. what i've tried to do is make it so that if the month combo box reads january, then all of the info is placed in a worksheet called january. at the moment it is putting all the info inputted into one sheet. if some one could take a peek at the code below.
If cbomonth.Value = January Then Sheets("January").Select
Range("A1").Select
Do If IsEmpty(ActiveCell) = False Then ActiveCell.Offset(1, 0).Select End If Loop Until IsEmpty(ActiveCell) Or IsEmpty(ActiveCell.Offset(0, 1)) Or IsEmpty.....................
It sits in the "This Workbook" code window to run each time the wbook is opened. What I want it to do, is based on the date in Sheets("Control").Range("L3") select a particular cell in another sheet called "Risk Sum". I'm assuming this is easy to do, I've come up with the following, but it just doesnt want to work ...
The last few days I have had great support in answering my questions. I would like to tweak the code one more step.. The RFQ LIST workbook grabs data from Inventory workbook after select the workbook.
This code in RFQ LIST allows to select the workbook, I would also like to select the workbook.sheet as found out they want to tab the data and keep long term history.
For some reason I need to display quite a few computer's installed software from system information in to separate worksheet. How can I copy all installed programs and paste into new worksheet with a code?
I managed to create some code that will connect to a workbook and take the data from there.
It is kind of SQL mixed with VBA. I just got this by finding it in google (I don't have the link handy now).
What the file does, is it will take 2 columns from a workbook called "Test.xls" and then take out 2 columns "Name" and "ID".
The only thing is, this is only a test and not the actual files I need to open. the files are always saved on the same folder, but the name is the day of the export of it. So when I export a file today, it will get 2014.09.10.xls. The sheet (only 1) will also get that name.
How could I change the below code that it will take that file based on today's date and read from the sheet with today's data?
VB: Sub sbADO() Dim sSQLQry As String Dim ReturnArray Dim Conn As New ADODB.Connection Dim mrs As New ADODB.Recordset Dim DBPath As String, sconnect As String 'DBPath = ThisWorkbook.FullName
I am looking for a formula that will select a date in the month based on certain criteria. Found the choose function but not sure if I can really get that to work. I basically have a list of clients, with zip codes, restricted days of the week - and would like the system to group them by zip code and select the best day of the month to schedule an inspection but not pick he restricted day. The goal being have zip codes scheduled together - but on a day other than garbage day. Is this even doable?
I am working with DatePicker calendar. I have two userform with date entries. In one userform I will have 2 textbox to enter dates. In the other one I will have 4 dates to enter. I used to have Excel 2007 with Calendar Control and used to work fine but had to make multiple calendar to control individual Textbox in multiple Userforms.
I am looking for a way to, If a userform is selected to trigger only the textbox name that is within that userform. If I add more entries the code adds automatically the date from the previous userform in the next one.
[Code].....
I was thinking that this would work but it still adds the date to my frmdashboard userform if I am in my frmdata userform.
Is there a way to trigger only the userform that I am currently in?
Using Excel 2013.
Note: I also have a "Clear All" VB Code that will delete every entry in my userform on Initiate but I am looking to not go this path.
I have a Data Validation list in cell A1 of a worksheet called LIST. I would like to modify the macro that I have recorded, the macro uses data from various worksheets. I would like to sort out some code so that at certain points in the macro it will select the worksheet that is shown in cell A1 of the LIST sheet and then carry out the code already recorded. THis will allow me to quickly change a sheet name that is refererred to in the macro numerous times without actually manually editing the sheet name in the macro code.
I am creating a login system for two users on a excel worksheet. I have the two users on a drop-down list, Maria and Andrew, which then requires a password entry. This is linked onto a data validation to make sure that the password matches the data table.
After, I then click on a macro, which, when successful, takes me from sheet 1 to sheet 2.
My problem is that I need to have it so that Maria is taken from Sheet 1 to Sheet 2, and Andrew from Sheet 1 to Sheet 3.
How do you convert a range of dates in this format: 39843 (i.e today 30th of Jan 2009). To text like: 20080130. Secondly, For the same date, how do you make the weeknum function give answer '05' and not just '5'
I am currently using Excel 2007 and I am looking for an easier way to enter the system date and time into a cell. I am aware of the MS-Excel shortcuts but work in an environment where data capturers still often get it wrong.
Is it possible to use a Excel function/button to auto insert the system date and time by clicking on a cell/button or Alternatively use a calendar to do so.
i woul like to make a macr which will check the system date on the computer to see what month it is and the populate cells A14 - A44 with the dates from the 1st till the end of the month.
What would a macro look like that would find the value in the cell of the last row in the A column, then set that as the selection criteria so macro could copy all rows that match that to another workbook?
ex. A2 = 10/1/2005: with the formula up there it turns into Fall 2005 i want to be able to add any number of years and the formula will still come up with the quarters system
also i would like A2 to be stationary and create a list of quarters for each year i add on
I'm building a macro thats copying 4 rows of data at a time from a spreadsheet (has 1500 rows of data total) and transposing it to a master spread sheet. There are blank rows in between each entry (the data source I'm using isn't clean), so how can I either have the macro jump to the first row it finds with a value, copy rows until it stops finding a value, paste+transpose into a new document and then repeat the process throughout the document.
If thats too complicated, a macro that finds rows based on a formula would work as well. E.g. Start at row 5, copy+paste+transpose 5-8, start at row 11 (5+6), copy + paste+transpose 11-14, start at row 17 (x+6) ...etc... Here's the code I have developed thus far:
I have a sheet with hundreds of rows of customer information; including a 7 digit customer number. I need a macro to delete all the rows where the customer number sequence start with 1 thru 8 (that would be the first digit of the customer numbers).
I might be using something completely wrong here, but can anyone tell me if this code is possible or am I being very naive.
H4 and I4 are cells in which I want to enter dates, and then I want these dates to be used in a custom filter on another page.
Below is what my limited understanding of VB came up with.
Sub Date_Range()
Dim First As Date Dim Last As Date First = Range("H4").Value Last = Range("I4").Value Sheets("Graph Data").Select Selection.AutoFilter Field:=1, Criteria1:=">=First", Operator:=xlAnd _ , Criteria2:="
I am trying to create a macro using the recorder that will select the latest date in a drop down list. The dates upate each day in the pivot table after the table is earlier refreshed. Using the recorder simply picks the same date each time. I want it to select the latest date. Am using Excel 2010 and have some very limited experience in vba for editing macros.
1) Prompt user to select a file (or multiple files)
2) Copy the files that meet certain criteria to a folder
My attempt (fail): VB:
Sub FILES2SFTP() Dim FileNames As Variant Dim I As Integer Dim fso As Variant Dim Data As String ChDrive "G:" ChDir "G:TEST" Data = InputBox("Enter the date", "Enter the date", Format(Application.WorksheetFunction.WorkDay(Date, -1), "yyyymmdd")) Set fso = [code].... I get error 424 object not found in this line:
If fso.getfilename(FileNames(I).Name) = ("Name1" & Data & ".xls" Or "Name2" & Data & ".xls") Then
