I have two sheets of same names with different data in each sheet. I need to refer the name in the first sheet and match the same name in the second sheet and retrieve the start date. I have attached the work sheet sample for better understanding. I know I can use vlookup. But am not getting the results I need.

I'm trying to search & match data from two different spreadsheets. I will attach my workbook for reference.
The first worksheet is a list of all of my clients I have previously worked with and the second worksheet is a list using a set criteria. The criteria I am using is the UK postal code "AL10".
The clients address (Column B) will be used as a reference to match the address which is located on the AL10 worksheet which is also column B. If there is a direct match then a VLookup function will be performed to display something that can be easily referenced.
The problem I am having is that the address format is different on the clients worksheet then what it is on the AL10 worksheet. I have the feeling I will need to create a search function with multiple arrays but I have limited knowledge of how to do that.
There are some additional notes located in my workbook.
I know that two of the client addresses should match data located on the on AL10 worksheet and the other two shouldn't give a match at all as they don't exist. These are highlighted in yellow.
I have used the Find and replace function to do this but this is rather manual and slow and I would like the search feature to automate this process.

I have a column in two different worksheets that contain the same information that I want to match.
Raw Data - worksheet 1
Data - Worksheet 2
Column A - ShopperID
Same data is in both worksheets, column named the same in both worksheets
Raw Data worksheet contains email addresses in Column J that i want to extract and copy to column I in Data worksheet if there is a match on Column A.
I am trying show an exact match of data between two worksheets, but I need the match function to look up 2 columns - i.e. reference number AND order number between two different worksheets.
In the example attached, I am able to find the match of one column only (order number)
- I copy some records from a Database into an Excel sheet in workbook (say W1) in the Worksheet WS1.
- The i look up for values in a column (say column B) of W1 in another worksheet in another workbook(say W2) .
- If i find a match in Workbook 2(W2) ,Worksheet 1 , Row 2, Column A ; i look at the values in the Column B, F,G on the Row 2 itself.
- Each of these values can be found in the corresponding Worksheets 2;3;4 in the Workbook2(W2) .
- Then i need to pick up all these values from worksheet 1;2;3;4 in W2 and contatenate them and put them in the Workbook W1 against the Row .
- Similarly i process all the non zero rows in the workbook W1.
Within 1 workbook, I have two worksheets:

I am looking for a formula that will allow me to marry up the data sets by unique ID. I want to take the single lines from worksheet 2, and pull them over to sheet 1 and replicate where the identifier matches. So, Worksheet 1, would end up w/ columns E F G H, and additional data for each individual.
Unique ID, Name, Start Date, Salary, Unique ID, Date of Birth, Benefit Plan, Termination Date.

Been a while since I've worked with macros within excel and I can't seem to get what I remember being a basic macro to work whatsoever. I have 2 worksheets containing a massive amount of data and need to pull some cells from one into the other when values in 2 columns match.
To better explain, sheet1 has ID numbers in column G spanning for roughly 1700 rows. Sheet 2 has corresponding ID numbers in column EO. The data I need to copy over is in columns EP and EQ on sheet 2.
So I'm trying to build a macro to compare the values in Sheet1_Column_G to those on Sheet2_Column_EO and when a match is found, copy the value in EO and the adjacent entries in columns EP & EQ over into columns X, Y, and Z on sheet 1.
Couldn't get a VB function together to save my life so I tried working with MATCH & INDEX and didn't get very far either. I've included my current function below.

in two seperate worksheet i download external data from 2 different website with some stats about teams. Problem is that theses websites user slighty different names for the teams ie. it will be man city from one source and manchester city from another. i need to somehow get the names to match up is there an easy way to do this?
Can I create data validation list of the names created in the name box or of the sheet tab names?

I have had a look at some other pieces of code in this forum but they are quite the same as I want to do....I have tried a few things but each time I get an error ...so for sure I am not modifying the code quite right, I ahve been missing something for what I now want it to do. So I wonder if someone could Please review these two pieces of code...they of course are both for running on just one worksheet in a wookbook.
I would like them both be able to run, still as tow separete pieces of code as they are, on all and only worksheets that have in their worksheet name a key word in this case the word "Region" and that those worksheets all in a single workbook but the workbook does have other worksheets in it I dont want the code to run one on - but those worksheets do not have in their worksheet name the word "Region".

I have a spreadsheet which has the following data;

I'm trying to list the names only where their age is "xx" or if I choose a certain salary, obviously there are hundreds of names, age's and salary information. How can I carry this out in excel ?

I need to create a macro that will create a mailing list from about 300 spread sheets in the same workbook. (I am proud of myself, I found a macro that helped me bring all 300 worksheets in to one workbook).
All worksheets are template style if B3 is company name in one worksheet it it the same on all worksheets. I have 15 cells I need to bring from each spread sheet into a master mailing list.
The big problem is, I only have the next 18 hours to do this and it is taking way too long to do it one at a time.
my formula is as follows: =(VLOOKUP(A7,'[Monthly AR Analysis - Feb09.xls]AR - Current'!$A$1:$I$153,8,FALSE)). I will be using this for formula on about 15 different worksheets ... my issue is the file name changes every month and currently I have to go in and do a find and replace, I would like to have one main page where I could change the file name month and it will change all the rest.
ie: Monthly AR Analysis - Feb09.xls next month changes to Monthly AR Analysis - Mar09.xls .... So basically each month I want it to pick up the new file that has been saved with the new name. So what I would want is to be able to have a cell that I could change the Feb09 to Mar09 and then it would do the same to all the worksheets. I attempted to use CONCATENATE to change file name and it worked but will not work within the Vlookup.
I have three different sheets, each with a column of names, titled "list1, list2, list3." I also have a fourth list of names on a sheet titled "masterlist." I am wondering if there is any way I could cross check the three lists against the master list to see if any names appear on the master list but do not appear on any of the three lists. Is there any way I can cross reference the master list with each of these lists?

I know how to get Excel to print the name of the sheet in a cell once the file is saved, and I know how to hide sheets to make sure that all sheets are referenced in a range. If the name of the worksheet is in the same cell across all sheets (except the ones I don't want included on the totals page), is there a way to call that range and have Excel print off all the worksheet names in different rows or columns via a fill function?
Difficulties: the user may add/delete, rename, and have any number of, worksheets in the workbook. Because these variables are unpredictable, I am having difficulty figuring out the way to do this. Also, the formula should be able to ignore the sheets which have no value in the expected cell.
I have an output in the form of multiple worksheets. I have found a solution to merge them all toghether into one workbook. But I would like the sheets to be named after the original file name.
Lets say my file is called 9252400.xlsx, i would then like the corresponding sheet in the workbook to be called 9252400

debugging issues without changing the code dramatically. I think I've basically "got it" but there are a few lines that I think are problematic. I've written notes to highlight my thinking.
Let me give a basic discription of what I'm trying to do: This file lists where a company has offices. I'm want my subroutine to 1) Sort the cities in alphabetical order (this occurs at the end of the code), 2) for each of the cities listed in "AllCities" worksheet, check whether there is a additional corresponding worksheet of the same city name, and if there isn't one, the subroutine would automatically add it, and 3) delete any worksheet of a city name that is NOT found in the listings found in the "AllCities" worksheet.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI thought i had worked it out, but for some reason the names aren't updating when i add a new time, and the same names appear when i add the same code for a different track. I was using this code {=INDEX(A2:A32,SMALL(IF(C2:C32<>0,ROW(C2:C32)),1),1)} as you can seen in cell A34, then added a 2 onto it for the second fastest time eg.....{=INDEX(A2:A32,SMALL(IF(C2:C32<>0,ROW(C2:C32)),2),1)}, but doesn't seem to update when adding a new fastest time in. Am i using the wrong code to match the names with the fastest times?

1 - I have a sheet where the different projects of a company are stored (name, starting date, ending date and person responsible) and where new projects can be added from a UserForm
2 - I also have another sheet were costs from the projects are stored (one line with cost 1 from project 1, another with cost 2 also from project 1 and cost 3 from project 2, etc) and where I can also add a new cost with another UserForm (this cost as also a date that is added, to when it happened)
3 - What I need to do is, on the costs' sheet I need to create a sub that in the last column adds me 1 if the date of the cost added is not a date between the starting and ending date of the project that it corresponds.
I have sheet1 that contains rows with names. I want to match those row names with the column names in sheet2, and then delete any column in sheet2 that does not match to sheet1.

writing a macro script. I want to find matching names on two diffferent worksheets. More specifically I need the ability to match if I apply a abbreviation(s) to worksheet one in order to get matches in worksheet two.

Ideally I would like this to be a macro script that I can edit to add as many different abbreviations as required. The attached document will make my task a lot clear.
Unfortunately I don't have any starting code as I am not an excel/visual basic programmer, But i hope somebody will be able to help me out here.
The reason I need to do it this way is because I have been given a file from a partner company that uses different abbreviations to the ones we use in my company. I just started playing with creating my own macros. I've written a macro to pull all the names of the worksheets in a workbook, now what I want to do is write a piece of code that will pull data from a cell in those worksheets.
So for instance I have all my worksheet names in cell A1 to A10, I want to pull the data from cell E1 from every worksheet in A1 to A10. Can someone help me with a sample code to work with. I'm still reading Power Progamming haven't gotten so far yet.
I'm trying to create a macro which will run through every salesperson in a list, and copy and paste their product and client data (from separate sheets) to a template sheet. The template sheet will then by copied to the Salesgroup workbook, and renamed to the salesperson's name. Then the macro should go back to the original workbook and do it all again for the next salesperson, putting them into the same workbook.
The problem I'm having is that the references to the Template worksheet seem to be being messed up by copying the template sheet to the new workbook, and it then ends up creating all the worksheets, but it stops taking the data from the data sheets, and ends up copying the previous worksheet and pasting that into the new copied template, which means that I get the template multiple times across the same sheet.

I have been trying this as an array formula:

But it only returns a true value for if it finds the first name from Column G.
See attached spreadsheet. I have 2 tabs. The current portfolio tab is feeding in from the computation tab. My formula in column C works for 2 securities, MSFT, and AApl as the name is identical in both tabs. I am running into an issue where the names are not identical.
Example: I want to sum both the INTC, and the INTC pref in the computation tab and have that fill in the current portfolio tab. Also, in the computation tab ticker 005930 ks should fill in the current portolio tab for samsung electronics. My lasst issue is in the computation tab where I want to pull in sony, and sony adr (multiplied by 1,500). total sum 1,5723,995,015 in the current portfolio for sony.
