Parse HTML Code / Copy Image And Paste Back In Excel
Aug 6, 2012
I am attempting to navigate to a webpage using IE. I have been successful at getting to the appropriate webpage.
However, I would like to open a link within the webpage in the browser in another window(Which is an image). Copy the image then paste it back into excel. I have been successful at opening the webpage using a Userform.
Code:
Sub Anthro()
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Set ie = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application")
With ie
.Visible = True
[Code] .......
The user input number for example:
If the user inputs the number 25423310 into the txtbox then it navigates to a certain webpage.
On this webpage and all other webpages where different #'s are used are very similar. The number (25423310) is always used to identify an image. However it has more characters. For example the image is always on line 30 of the HTML code. On this example the HTML code lists the image as:
The number used in the txtbox to naviagete to the URL Ex: 25423310) is always within line 30 of code in HTML. Is it possible to run a query or parse this line of code and direct ie to open this image in a new window then copy and paste it based on the criteria of the user input? Ex. 25423310?
Code:
Sub PropInfo()
Dim appIE As SHDocVw.InternetExplorer
Set appIE = New SHDocVw.InternetExplorer
Dim varTables, varTable
I have a function that locates a table on a webpage and pulls the html code into one cell in a worksheet. Basically we can call this one cell a text file. I need to parse through this text file (cell A1) to create a table. This text file only has info for 1 table, the table always has 12 columns, the rows are variable. I would like it to then write back this parsed text file back into excel as a table, say starting in cell A2 on the same worksheet.
I am attempting to extract a particular piece of data from a webpage. I was not able to use a webquery because the data can only be reached by searching an online database and the URL remains static throughout this process. http://gisims2.co.miami-dade.fl.us/myhome/proptext.asp
The data of interest is contained in a simple, 2-column table with item descriptions in the first column and item values in the second. The code below is my closest attempt. I am attempting to look through the innertext of all the tables on the results page and see if any contain the text "CLUC", which is the description of the data I'm trying to retrieve. The code never finds any qualifying tables.
Sub PropInfo() Dim appIE As SHDocVw.InternetExplorer Set appIE = New SHDocVw.InternetExplorer Dim varTables, varTable Dim varRows, varRow Dim varCells, varCell Dim lngRow As Long, lngColumn As Long 'OPEN INTERNET EXPLORER, GO TO WEBPAGE appIE.Visible = True appIE.navigate "http://gisims2.miamidade.gov/MyHome/proptext.asp" Do While appIE.Busy: DoEvents: Loop Do While appIE.readyState <> 4: DoEvents: Loop.........................
I have previously used the following code to successfully pull out IE webpage source code for string manipulation.
Its a crude example to demonstrate the principle:
Public Declare Sub Sleep Lib "kernel32" (ByVal dwMilliseconds As Long) Public IE As Object Sub Sample() Set IE = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application") IE.Visible = True
[Code] ......
However when I substitute in a Google websites address into the IE.Navigate command, the code runs to the "Source_Code = IE.document ...." line then flags up a Microsoft Visual Basic error. "Run-time error '438': Object doesn't support this property or method"
The webpage that I am trying to access is a confidential company site, so you won't be able to access it yourself, but starts with [URL] ......
The one thing that I have noticed about this website is the Privacy Report icon in the lower right status window (Picture of an eye with a restricted symbol in front). I don't know whether this is the cause of my problem, or purely an incidental observation.
Is there something peculiar with Google sites that means that the source code cannot be extracted in general, or is this an issue specific to my site ? Does the Privacy Report icon have any relevance, and if so how do I switch that off ?
I want the same affect as copy a table and pasting into the email. So i guess i need to copy a range and save as html in a string. It seems like it would be simple since its just copy and paste into the email, but i've been unable to find anyting on it.
I have received several hundred "Excel" data file dumps from an unspecified corporate database ( SAP? ). They are nominally spreadsheets, that is they are tables of mixed data that Excel recognizes, as they are exported from the database as such.
I'd like to walk a directory containing these files, and only these files, open each in turn save them as proper Excel files and close them. The end goal is to import these tables into a Access database, but Access doesn't recognize them either. I also need to repair values in one field which is easier to accomplish in Excel.
Unfortunately, opening the file generates an error I've been unable to trap, due to the fact the excel thinks its an HTML file, which it is, and wants me to verify that I do want to open it. Similarly, I receive a message when I try to save the file that requires me to nominate an acceptable Excel file type, which I can do in code.
I have a conversion chart of decimals to fractions I made in Excel. I want to copy and paste as an image so I can shrink it to fit at the top with the frozen headings.
I tried to take a picture of it on the monitor, but the photo captures the screen fuzzy pixels.
I tried to copy and paste but could not find where I could paste as a special attribute. Or a picture on the internet with the decimal first and the fraction second in 1/16ths
This is going to be difficult to explain, but I'll try... I need to be able to format a sheet that has all data in column format. Column A contains a number and B an application. C contains the issue data. I need the issue data to be moved under column A and B as illustrated below. What formula can I do to accomplish this?

Can't get html or the image tags to work for some reason.
I have a list of web address in column A. All of the web address belong to the same site and are different products at the store. I want to be able to some how launch the sites and have Excel copy the text string which follows the word "PRICE:" on the site back into Excel into the corresponding cell of column B.
I need to find an easy way to locate an image on my server and upon selection rather than inserting the actual image I need to insert the image path. e.g. "s:imageshighresgreen1234.jpg"
I would like to implement specific cell ranges from two specific worksheets each within 33 workbooks (which all have several tabs) into a summary page in a separate workbook.
The cell ranges are going across my spreadsheet in rows and I would like for them to transpose into a columns depending on the data which I have separated by catergory on the summary page. They are all on the same location in each workbook which is separated by country. The cell ranges are E26:P37 and I would like to transpose them and have them put below eachother without overwriting for my format on the summary page, how I can put this together in a macro?
I've recently switched from office 2003 to office 2007.
In excel 2003 I was able to paste html into excel for easy editing. In excel 2007, when I paste the html I see auto-formatted web page objects. How can I disable this and get just straight text?
I tried formatting the cells to be plain text and then pasting.
I am trying to add new worksheets at the end of the existing ones, with the name "Scenario " & i (i being an integer for the next scenario).
My idea is to parse the Worksheet names, counting how many times the string "Scenario " appears, and then add a new Worksheet with that name and index i+1. Here is the
Public Sub store_data_Click()
Dim NameWS, prev_sheet As String Dim iprev, iws, iscenario As Integer
iscenario = 1 For iws = 1 To Worksheets.Count If Find(Sheets(iws).Name, "Scenario ") = True Then iscenario = iscenario + 1 End If
1.- Find (8th line) does not seem to be the right procedure to use; how could I do this in a clean/direct (i.e. not writing the names into a dummy worksheet and using the find function) way?
2.- How could I substitute the new Worksheet ("Scenario " & i) formulas for values without having to select all the cells and then use paste values (not so elegant).
3.- Connecting to a previous post: How could I define *exactly* the position to paste "Autoshape 1"?
I need to write a macro where i need to copy set of rows from few columns of an excel sheet to another set of columns in same sheet . My excel looks something like this...
Product F1020 F1023 F1025 F1120 F1123 F1125
[code].....
Now when i filter this table for Product PR01 only rows 1,3,4 will be visible while the other rows remains hidden
I WANT TO COPY ROWS COMING UNDER COLUMNS
F1120 F1123 F1125
TO
F1020 F1023 F1025
when i use the code
Selection.SpecialCells(xlCellTypeVisible).Copy
i get to select ones those are visible but i am not sure how i can PASTE them to rows visible under column f1020 to f1025
I am dealing with several very large spreadsheets using VBA to do various things. I found that my code worked well, but was taking a long time to run. The biggest time consumer was my use of the AutoFilter features. I have since turned calculations to manual before my code runs and set it back to auto when my code is done running. What are the potential consequences of my turning calculations to manual and then back to auto?
I have two files and need to copy the information from columns B,C,F,H rows 5 true 29, and past it in the other file in Columns B,D,G,J; rows 3 true 35.
The code that I have works fine, but have one problem - it past the info in the rows starting from 37 instead from row 3. Here is where I need your help. The code is triggered when the condition Arr ( arrived) is chosen in the column AH ( file Delivery Status) and then the specific warehouse is chosen in the column AI. To make it easy I have left only one warehouse as a choice.
Attached you can find sample files ( I have delete the info from the heading cells as it was in another lenguage)
I created this spreadsheet a few montsh ago to help with forecasting for my companies products. The tabs of interest are the HIST vs FORECAST, FORECAST TOOLKIT, and the FORECAST TABLE tab – now the FORECAST TABLE tab is always hidden and if you unhide it then it will rehide itself once one of the macro’s is run. I set it that way to prevent people accidently making adjustments to the forecast data.
The way the sheet is supposed to run is that when you are on the hist vs forecast page then you can click one of the grey buttons on the right which will then graph the numbers for the relevant product on the toolkit page – so far so good, this bit all works fine, there are separate macro’s for this each named after the product they control.
Then once you are on the toolkit you can play about with the numbers until you come up with a 6 month forecast you are happy with which will be on the 6 cell line in the bottom right were it says “ IMPORT”. You can then click on the “IMPORT” button which will then copy and paste it back into the forecast table under the relevant setting – the macro for this is called IMPORT2 and it works off a “product” range and a “ date” range – again this pretty much works as intended.
Sub IMPORT2() Dim nDate, nProd With Sheets("Forecast Toolkit") nDate = Application.Match(.Range("O31"), Range("Dates")) + Range("Dates")(1).Row - 1 nProd = Application.Match(.Range("I3"), Range("Products")) + Range("Dates")(1).Column...........................
I'm using code that SHG provided for me here; http://www.excelforum.com/excel-programming/630464-sheet-macro-for-preventing-paste-not-working.html
It worked great in the first workbook I set up but I just set up a new workbook and it's not doing the same thing. For example, it allows me to copy items from column A which have 1 type of validation (restriction on text) to another column which has a formula validation.
It still won't allow me to paste from outside a validated range to inside but I need to prevent people from screwing up the validation between columns.
I have the following bit of VBA code which copies a particular cell and pastes it in the next available cell in column "AD", but I need to paste it as a value. How do I incorporate this into the code?
Sub copypaste() Worksheets("USD IR Swap 10 Yr").Range("L5").Copy _ Destination:=Worksheets("USD IR Swap 10 Yr").Cells(Worksheets("USD IR Swap 10 Yr") .Rows.Count, "AD").End(xlUp).Offset(1, 0) End Sub
I am looking for VBA code that will select a data validation cell, copy the selection, and paste the value of that cell in a different worksheet.
The data validation list is in cell L47. The user will select a date from cell D31, type a description of activities in the adjacent column and then select initials from the aforementioned validation list in cell L47. I need the code to fit into a button I created so that when they click it to approve the activity, the code will copy the value of the initials and paste it into column AB in a separate worksheet. Column AB runs parallel to column A, which contains all of the dates located on Sheet1 in cell D31. I think I might need some sort of loop to run this so that it pastes initials on the correct date.
I want to automate the transferring of specific pieces of data from one spreadsheet into another spreadsheet. There are many project spreadsheets that all feed into a resource plan spreadsheet showing every employee, what projects each of them are on, and how many hours they are spending on each project for the quarter.
Now what I would like to do is to automate this process of feeding the data from the many project spreadsheets into the resource plan spreadsheet. With transferring the specific data from the one to the other. Basically I need it so that excel looks at the project spreadsheet copies the name of the employee and the hours they have worked each week for the quarter and paste It into the big resource plan. What I am finding tricky is knowing how to make it automatically paste into the right area as in copy an employee and paste the details in the same employees cells in the other spreadsheet.
Goal: I have data that was copied to my clipboard from the webpage source in a Chrome browser. I would like to get that data over to my excel worksheet and insert it starting at "A1".
Issue: All of the pasted data is ending up in ONLY cell "A1" when using VBA.
When I just click in cell "A1" and CTRL-V, the data gets spread across a lot of cells, which is what I am after.
Code: '------------------------------------------ 'Start The Process '------------------------------------------
' Assigning clipboard data to string variable strClip
Dim MyData As DataObject Dim strClip As String
Set MyData = New DataObject MyData.GetFromClipboard
I have 4-5 worksheets (sheet1,sheet2,etc) on a workbook. All of the rows except for the ones that are filled in are currently HIDDEN.
I have one worksheet called "Add record" which has a VBA code that adds a record to any of these sheets.
When it does this I want it to recognise when pasting the new record into any fo the sheets.. IF the row is hidden, the sheet needs to reveal that row.
I'm desperate trying to get this to work!!
Here is the code I have so far! This is a command button macro used in the "Add Record Sheet" I have FOUR different versions of this code. Each one adds the data to a specific sheet.
