I am trying to reset various (data validation) drop down lists in a the dummy worksheet attached. Most of the code i have come across clears the cells completely, however i would like it to return to the 'select' option (first on the list) in the list.
I have come across this code, but it does not seem to work:
[Code] .........
I want the clearing code to run from the command button in the 'instructions' tab to clear the drop down lists in the '1. Inputs' tab.
I have a sheet which shows values by month across several years (sample attached). There are two options in cell A2, 'Alive' and 'Dead'.
I'm trying to find a way, either using a macro or not if it can be done without so that, should the user select 'Dead' from cell A2, that all the values in B2:M2 and O2:Z2 are set to zero. However, I need some way of remembering these values because there may be instances when the user then decides to change Cell A2 back to 'Alive' (and they still need to be able to change the value in any cell at any time) and if they do that, I need the numbers shown in B2:M2 and O2:Z2 to be restored to their last set of values. I assume they somehow need to be stored in an array, but I have no idea how to achieve this in reality.
It should be noted that the same will apply to every row in the sheet of which there will be around 3,000, so this needs to work on a row by row basis and there will be 4 years worth of data, rather than the two on the attached sample.
I have dropdown boxes in cells B11,B14,B17,B20,B26,B29,B32,B41,B44 of my worksheet. I would like to use a command button that can reset all dropdown values to blank.
Trying to create a dynamic costing spreadsheet, where the user has to make multiple selections from many dropdown lists, all of which end up showing a total cost.
So far I have managed to create relatively dynamic lists, so that the choice in one cell will dictate what options are available in the next.
But if a user selects an options form all the dropdowns, and then decides to go back and modify a previous option to something else, the effected dropdown lists do not change until you click on the drop down arrow again and see the options available have changed.
Let me try and simplify... 'Menu 1' has two option: 'A' and 'B'. If 'A' is chosen, then the next menu, 'Menu 2', will have options '1' and '2'. If 'B' is chosen from 'Menu 1', then the options in 'Menu 2' will be '3' and '4'. Lets say the user chose 'A' from 'Menu 1' and then '1' from 'Menu 2'... AND THEN went back and changed their choice in 'Menu 1' to 'B'.... 'Menu 2' will still be displaying '1', even though the options are only '3' and '4'.
Can I make the dependant menu's either reset or blank or highlight to show that a change made somewhere else has made them currently invalid
It's a quarterly schedule for utility meter readers, divided up into days across the top, and routes/areas down the side. There's a space with each route for the employee ID to go, depending on who's doing it.
Down the bottom of the sheet, there's a few empty lines for all the available employees who haven't been allocated to a route.
On the second sheet labelled EMP LIST, is all the employee IDs. It's also got the areas they work- it's for something I want to implement later.
I can put all the employees into a single column list, then use basic DV to give a dropdown menu by each route, to assign an employee to it. This is pretty straight forward. I've also been playing with this in combination with a countif, so that employees already assigned do not appear in the list.
This is about as far as I've managed to get with it.
I need to get the employees who aren't assigned to anything to appear in a list below the routes. I'm fairly sure this is just another countif, but I'm not 100% on the exact formulas.
I also need the list in the dropdown menu to reset for each day of the quarter, i.e. if I assign an employee to a route on the 30th day of the quarter, their ID will disappear from the list for any other route for that day, but will still be there for the other days of the quarter.
So far the only way I've managed to do this is by duplicating the employee list for every day of the quarter, which is going to get very cluttered, and also makes staffing changes difficult. I'm hoping there's an easier way to do this using one data set.
I've added an example of the sheet. It's one week and it's only got about 1/3 of the routes we would actually have on any given day.
I am having a sheet where I keep track of when online surveys have been sent to users. The users enail address (column K) may be on the list for several times, but I need to make sure that there is at least a 7 days pause between sending the first mail and the second, depending on the visit date (column G).If there are less than 7 days between two entries with the same email address, the user is not qualified for taking another survey.
I was thinking to write an IF formula which returns either 1 or 0 and then let conditional formatting highlight and HIDE the row via a VBA loop.
I want to catch an error and reset the entire code to the very beginning and skip that entire entry. When I use "Next fieldSheetName" I get "Next without For," error 1004. Searches tell me I have an open block somewhere, but that's not true. Removing that statement (and having the loop iterate as normal) has no error at all.
Dim employeeName As String Dim fieldMax, x, y As Byte ' Counters mostly Dim workedHours, fieldSheetName As Integer
fieldMax = 204 ' Row number to stop on in the field time sheet row = 4 ' Row specification for field time sheet. Begin at row 4 to ignore headers ' and start on the first name. This should not be changed! Col = 3 ' Start at column 3 then increase by one to start going to next time entry
' RESET HERE! For fieldSheetName = 4 To fieldMax Step 8 ' This is our MAIN loop. It iterates from 0 to fieldMax, which is 204...........
I have several data val drop down lists, that all have the same input, but for some reason, the first entry in the list will not save to the worksheet. When chosen, after being saved and closed out, the entry disappears when the document is re-opened.
Furthermore, the drop down lists that are linked to another cell WILL save the first entry when chosen.
The only thread I could find on this topic was not resolved. I want to reset the value of a dependent drop down list (in H3) to the first valid choice when F3 is changed.
I have the following code that initially worked but no longer does.
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) On Error Goto errHandler Dim DLRng As Range
If Not Intersect(Target, Me.Range("F3")) Is Nothing Then If Target.Count > 1 Then Exit Sub Application.EnableEvents = False Set DLRng = ActiveWorkbook.Names(Target.Value).RefersToRange Me.Range("H3").Value = DLRng.Offset(0, 0).Value End If
exitHandler: Application.EnableEvents = True Exit Sub
errHandler: MsgBox "Could not change dependent cell" Goto exitHandler End Sub
I now get the error message ""Could not change dependent cell" every time I pick a different item in the drop down list in cell F3. If I remove the error handler I don't get the error and the code simply doesn't work.
I have a worksheet with two dropdown menus. The first contains months from January to December, the second contains years from 2011 to 2025. Upon opening the worksheet, I would like the entries selected to match to the month and year of the current system date. I know this is relatively easy to implement but, unfortunately, the macro recorder is of no support here. How to refer to dropdown menus in an Excel worksheet and how to select a specific entry from the dropdown menu?
When opening the attached file, for some reason, I have to again select the cells from column A in tab "Transactions" and go to Data Validation and select again LIST - only then the data validation from list resumes working. When I close the file after saving and open it again, the data validation does not work - I have to again go to Data Validation and again reselect LIST (making sure, of course, that I do not mess up Source) to have Data Validation list run again.
what is wrong with list validation when opening the file.xlsx
I have 4 combo boxes with selectable options and several cells for inputting data into. I'm looking to create a reset button that returns combo box values back to the first one in the list and clears all cells at the same time. I've figured out the cell reset as follows;
I'm creating a spreadsheet to keep track of my costs of production in an online game. Within the game there are a range of spawned resources that appear for only a short time before being unobtainable these resources have specific types that is shared between multiple spawns of the resource but each resource spawn has a unique name.
My first worksheet lists all the resources and their various qualities and the later worksheets are meant to allow me to choose from a list resources matching the requirements of the item I'm looking to craft. The example i have shown in the second picture requires Tatooinian Fiberplast and Lokian Wild Wheat to craft so in the Chosen Resource column I would like to have a drop down list allowing me to select the named resource type i would like to use - for Tatooinian Fiberplast the only thing on the list should be Omnitwixi and for the Wild Wheat it should show Fizi and Krad

Is there a way to create a drop down list from a comma delimited list in a single cell? For example, col A is Name & Col B is the delimited list - Blue,Red,Green (list can be different for each name). Would like a drop down list in col C that allows you to pick one of the values from Col B.
I found code online that I can put on my sheet to get my formatting properties to stay the same for the items in my dropdown list located on another page. However the code does not work for conditional formatted cells...which is what I need. This is the code that I have that will carry over regular formatted cells. Just not Conditional formatted cells.
I'm looking for a way to get a unique list from a column to a data validation drop down list. Any fancy formula or vba script to create a UDF which. Does this?
I have 3 related dropdown lists that work perfectly, if you enter data from left to right. But, if you click in the cell containing the second list, which is based on the first list, of which nothing has been selected, you can just type any value in the cell. Is there a way to prevent this, or at least validate that what is entered is a value in the list.
fill the column "Level 2 Area" based on the value selected from "Level 1 Area" which is coming from a drop down list. So the "Level 2 Area" will be a drop down list also based on the selected value from the drop down list from "Level 1 Area".
Im trying to organize a tools inventory list. Its supposed to be sort of like an order sheet for each department. But what I want to do is when I select either CARPENTRY, or any of the other trades from a drop-down list, I'll be able to select from another drop-down list items associated with that trade in particular. So eventually I want the master data hidden, preferably in another sheet. I searched all of Google but it seems a bit complicated to get it done. I've attached the sheet so that you can see what I'm talking about. MOVE IN MASTER LIST.xlsx
I'm trying to create a spreadsheet that will add a value to one column from one specific cell. For example: I want to enter a name in cell G10 and add that entry value enters in A1, then erase that name and enter a name in G10 again and that entry value enters in A2, and so on and so forth.
I have a list of account balances in one column. How can I pick up only the bottom number in that column? I have 20 worksheets and want a total across all worksheets of the last number listed in a particular column but each worksheet is different because they contain a different number of rows with activity. So, if in col. C I have:
$482 $1,000 $899 $456 $231
... then I want $231 to be what is captured for that worksheet, but if the 2nd worksheet contains:
$500 $1000 $344
... then I want $344 to be what is captured for worksheet 2. Does that make sense. In the end I want to sum $231, $344.... etc.
I have 2 columns with data. The first one has 16000 data (6 digit numbers), which are 2 or 3 or 4 times the same (duplication). The second column has a list with name folders.
Question: How can I delete the duplicate/triplicate entries, and leave only the one I want, according to a priority list I have of name folders?
I have a database file with a list of components. Each component has manufacturers name, part number, description etc. I need to create an individual file from each of the components in the list. I would like a quick and easy way to copy the information in each Row and generate a new file for each Row containing the existing template I have.
