Predictive Text In List Dropdown?
Oct 31, 2011I have a list of locations, I then clicked another cell went to Data tab and selected Data Validation, and then clicked under "Allow" the List option and for source I put the range of my locations.
So I now have a list dropdown of locations.
What I need to do is add predicitive text to this, so when the user selects L, it for example shows london. This works when u use the filter option, but I need it to work using List Dropdown, is this possible, >? maybe via VBA code.

Feb 20, 2014I have a drop down list of locations, which when one is selected I would like to show an abbreviated version in a different cell (say B5). I have tried the following so far:
=IF(A5 = "London", "LON")
But I would need to do this for around 30 locations and would need the abbreviated version in the same cell.

"Under 5"
"Between 5 and 10"
"Over 10"
However I want to connect the choice to a certain number and use it for a formula. For example:
"Under 5" is equal to 1
"Between 5 and 10" is equal to 2
"Over 10" is equal to 3
So if I make a formula to multiply the cell that says Under 5, excel to understand it is actually the digit 1.

Jun 11, 2013I'm creating a spreadsheet to keep track of my costs of production in an online game. Within the game there are a range of spawned resources that appear for only a short time before being unobtainable these resources have specific types that is shared between multiple spawns of the resource but each resource spawn has a unique name.
My first worksheet lists all the resources and their various qualities and the later worksheets are meant to allow me to choose from a list resources matching the requirements of the item I'm looking to craft. The example i have shown in the second picture requires Tatooinian Fiberplast and Lokian Wild Wheat to craft so in the Chosen Resource column I would like to have a drop down list allowing me to select the named resource type i would like to use - for Tatooinian Fiberplast the only thing on the list should be Omnitwixi and for the Wild Wheat it should show Fizi and Krad

But, if you click in the cell containing the second list, which is based on the first list, of which nothing has been selected, you can just type any value in the cell. Is there a way to prevent this, or at least validate that what is entered is a value in the list.

Aug 1, 2012I am not sure if this can be done easily but essentially what I have is a userform that fills out a form that will used by several different people and saved to a central location.
There is a blank combobox currently labeled "Supplier:" that each person fills out each time on the userform (there are no dropdowns yet).
What I am wanting to do is for every person who saves (I have coded the save button) with the "Supplier:" combobox filled out to save what they entered and input that into the combobox dropdown so when the next person uses the userform the entry the previous person entered would be in the combobox as an option to select.
Essentially, a combobox populates itself based on what previous users have entered into it.

Apr 8, 2013I have a spreadsheet where user can search for information inside a search box and the appropriate rows are returned using formulas.
I have a drop down list (Category: Model) in the search box as well as a search field (Category: Program, cell D2). Underneath the search box, search rows are returned with column categories: Program, Model, etc.
What I require is that if a user enters the specific program into the search field D2, then the dropdown list would automatically choose which model that program belongs to based on the returned row.
For example, if I typed "engine" into D2 and pressed enter,
Under the records section (Row 14 and beyond), the following record will pop up:
Program
Model
Indicators
Engine
F-16

Based on the record, F-16 would be chosen from the dropdown list. Is there any way this can be done?

2) If the text string matchs, I need excel to evaluate the number in the second column and find the MIN value of all numbers associated with the text string.

Jul 31, 2008I have a list of 200,000 e-mail addresses in a excel document in column A. What i am trying todo is find all the duplicate e-mail addresses within the list that appears more than four times.
I have tried this forumla in colunm B so it lists how many times the record appears: =countif($A$2:$A$244270,A2) which works fine and then a number appears next to each record. Then i pressed the sort filter to arrange all the records in number order so all the 5's are at the top of the worksheet but that does'nt always list them in the correct number order.
Basically all i want todo is find all the records that appear in my list more than five times then make a list of just one of those 5 records so i can remove them from my e-mail system.

I have a column of text strings on Sheet1, Column A, which I need to check for the presence of keywords listed on Sheet2, Column A
So if any word from the keyword list on Sheet2, Column A is found in, say, cell A2 of Sheet1, the cell to its right (B1) should have a formula to display the count of keywords found in A2. I also would like to see each keyword identified either through a highlight or a list. I need the formula to NOT be case sensitive and the match does not have to be for whole words).

May 8, 2014I would like to be able to compare the "standards" in Column A with the Assessment status in Column B and the Assessment period in Column C in order to generate a compact list in another workbook (ideally) or tab (if not). A list might typically contain all the standards that have been M (mastered) during a given Assessment period. I realize that filters would achieve this to a large extent but I was hoping to automatically populate another worksheet or tab.

I tried using the =search() function in an array formula, but I can only get it to work for a single value in the first list.

d1:d100 i have "dates"
e1:e100 should get the data from c1
So I use in e1:e100
=IF(a$1=d1,c$1,0)
=IF(a$2=d2,c$1,0)
etc ...
I can use it only for 1 date. I want to choose date from my dropdown list put money and then choose another date and put money.

Sep 2, 2010I'm required by my manager to produce password protected dropdown list (I use the data validation feature) for purchase order requester. I have been working on it for 2 days now, I somehow got it but it doesnt seem foolproof; as i often get error message after running it a few times.
Basically, all I need is to come up with a unique password for each name for listed in the "Requester". Whenever I click on it, it will prompt me to enter password.Different names requires different password, otherwise it will return as a blank cell.
What are the steps how to edit data validation if possible.
