I have a series of 24 files (for non-profit grants), each of which contains a macro to create a consolidation file of 29 departments (for each grant). Instead of opening each file individually I would like to create a macro in a different file that would open each file and run the consolidation macro in each file. So far I have been unsuccessful in compiling a macro to complete this task.

I have a UserForm that requires two numbers from the user. These numbers will correspond with the cells I want to highlight (the strings from the TextBoxes in the UserForm are called 'test1' and 'test2' in the code shown below)

When this script is run, I want to end up with some selected cells in sheet1 that match up with the numbers the user enters into the UserForm.
I have a master sheet named "Summary" and a number of following identically formatted sheets with lots of different names. I intend to pick out information from cell F7 of each of the following sheets and make the information show on the summary page. On the summary sheet in column A is the name of all the following sheets (spelt correctly), and in columns B, C and D are the spaces for the information I need on the summary sheet.
I need to set up a formula across columns B, C and D that I can copy down, which picks out the name of the sheet from column A and the cell reference within that sheet. So far I have experimented with formulae similar to the below which all keep returning with #REF! I hasten to add that all the Sheets are named and spelt correctly: =INDIRECT("'"&$A1"'!",$F$7)
The F7 would be changed for other cells in columns C and D, and so when I copied this down through all the following sheets on the summary page it should give me hte right results...
When I open up a new workbook it automatically contains 3 macros that I mistakenly added when I was experimenting a few months ago. How can I remove these macros from the default new workbook?

I am trying to implement the idea of creating an application with two workbooks: a hidden code workbook (CodeWb) that holds all of the forms and macros, and a separate visible data workbook (DataWb) that uses the macros in CodeWb. The DataWb houses a little bit of VBA code to open the CodeWb, which then supplies the programming power to handle click events, etc., performed by the user in the DataWb.
I have advanced to the point of being able to open CodeWb from DataWb and trigger execution of a macro named "DataFileOpen" in CodeWb. This macro initializes things in DataWb and creates buttons there on a particular sheet, using the line:
Application.Run "CodeWb.xlsm!DataFileOpen"
So far so good. This works fine. My problem is that nothing happens when I click on the buttons created in DataWb, with their event handling code residing in CodeWb. Obviously, I'm missing something that maintains a connection between the two workbooks.
How can I use the code in CodeWb to handle all events occurring in DataWb?
Is there a way I can share the workbooks with macros built in the excel file?

I searched here but all I can find were people that wanted to make a summary workbook or merge workbooks into a worksheet which isn't what i want to do.
I just want to simply merge these workbooks into one workbook without losing all the marco and vba stuff that are in each workbook.
I have an Excel 2003 program that contains macros. One of the macros hides certain command bars and disables the worksheet menu bar. On close the opposite is true. The problem is, if a user uses the disable macros when opening then the worksheet menu bar and other command bars are still available. I would like to hide all of the data sheets and display another sheet that would normally be hidden displaying a message that the macros have to be enabled for the program to work correctly if disable macros is chosen. When the enable macros are used I would like the Error page to be hidden.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a user that keeps a maintenance log in an Excel worksheet and sends an updated copy once a week to a board member. Two weeks ago, the board member started complaining that he was prompted to enable/disable macros on opening and became worried when my user stated that no macros were used in the book. He is now concerned that we have sent him a virus.
I know the file is clean because I've scanned it, and when I look at the file in VB, there are no modules or classes present just the Sheets 1-3 and the ThisWorkbook file. None of these objects have any code in them. My user does have some macros in PERSONAL.XLS but they are not used in the workbook in question.
No one else gets the prompt for enabling/disabling macros. Even if I set my security to prompt for any macros, I get no message. I'm convinced that there must be some setting in his Excel that is causing this individual to get this message. Is there anything else other than a macro that would cause this?

Is there a way to hide a macro from the list where you choose which to run, but not in the VBA editor? The userbox I just created calls upon 2 different macros, and has a macro to bring up the userbox. I need a way to hide the macros in Module3 from selection, but keep the macros in Module4 available to choose to run.

Worksheet 1, 2, 3 and 4 in Workbook A needs to be moved to Workbook A-2014 Worksheet 1, 2, 3 and 4 in Workbook B needs to be moved to Workbook B-2014 Worksheet 1, 2, 3 and 4 in Workbook C needs to be moved to Workbook C-2014 etc....
Is there a way to do this with a macro? Preferably I would like to do this automaticly - i.e. runing the macro from a master file that
1. Opens Workbook A copies the worksheets
2. Open Workbook A-2014 paste the sheets
3. Save and close Workbook A-2014
4. Close workbook A without saving
then doing the same for Workbook B, etc.
Basically the main workbook opens 2 files at a time performs a calculate in the main workbook and then copies and pastes information in 3 ranges. Then closes the two open workbooks and loops and performs same operations until it hits the maximum loops. My macro is as follows and I have 3 question in capital letters.

Here's the weirdness. macros 1 runs fairly quick the first time out (few seconds). Macros 2 takes about 2 minutes to run (which I'm fine with). However, when I run macros 1 AFTER running Macros 2, Macros 1 goes from taking a few seconds to a few minutes.
how to use excel 4 macros. I do not even know where to put them. I have inherited some spreadsheets that have both Xcel 4 Macros and vba macros in them. (Well, I get a warning that I cannot switch them off when I disable macros on opening a workbook). I cannot even find the offending version 4 macros so that I can re-code them in VBA.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am currently volunteering for a small organisation. I have spent the last week designing a userform to be used by other staff members in their office. However, when I asked the manager 'Do you have Microsoft Office?', I got a very firm and definite 'yes' in response.
It turns out they are using LibreOffice, which is a free alternative. I have also tried to get my userform to work with Open Office - but cannot seem to get either to work.
I have changed the settings in both suites of software to 'Load/Save Basic Code' and enabled macros to run via the security options.
My userform is not that complex. I have limited knowledge of VBA and zero experience using Basic, so have come up stuck.

How do I write a macro, and then execute it?
I've created an Add-in (.xlam file) in Excel 2007 and installed and activated it (it shows up under "Active Application Add-ins" on the Add-in menu for new workbooks).
I can see the macros and code when I go to the VBA editor, but the macros don't show up in the regular macro list.
I know that I can write code for the new workbook that will reference the Add-in code, but I want other users to be able to install the add-in and run the macros in it right away without any knowledge of VBA. Is there a way to make this possible?
I have created a excel spread sheet to be set up like a schedule, including multiple macros through the sheet, when I started it put the macros into "Module 1", now if I wanted to use this same worksheet and copy it and create multiple sheets in one file via the tabs does it make a difference where the macros reside? if it remains in "Module 1" it will only be in one spot will this create problems later on or should the each reside in the sheet objects.

Basically, it allows me to save information onto it, which I can then retrieve, (in any conditions/search fields i.e. in a date range etc) but the problem is; when I try to use it on my laptop, I look at the editor used for macros, I can see that the spreadsheet is linked to the servers of my old company. Therefore, I cannot use it myself
I do not know a lot about macros etc. but I can send a copy of the spreadsheet to anybody who is willing to help!
I think it is just a case of changing the macros/strings of where to draw and save information to/from, but I don;t know.
