Sharing Workbooks With Macros Built In The File

View 1 RepliesOur ERP system generates reports in CSV. I have created a custom excel menu, which houses a lot of buttons that launch various macros to format these reports. I have been asked to share these formatting macros with other users.
I understand that the custom menu structures are stored in an excel11.xlb file. My thought was to simply replace the users *.xlb file. This only half worked. I get the menus and the macros, but when the users try to run the macros from the menu excel can't find them because the path is pointing to my user name.
I have created a workbook with vb code that include 4 modules, 1 userform. These all work in the original workbook. When I copy and paste the workbook onto another laptop, none of the scripts work? Both laptops run the same os plus office 2003.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSharing excel file over network for use by multiple persons. File has suddenly stopped opening giving message "File cannot be found" etc.... I back the file up daily to my hard drive so didn't lose much.
This is the second time this has happened. File size is only 300Kb.
Excel seems to be creating temp files to the same folder, then gave a message saying changes could not be saved to the excel file.
Ran the corruption program from this site, it could not open the file.
We have an Excel file that 20+ Users update daily. Every time we share the workbook, it corrupts the file within days.
We are using Excel 2010. We go to Review tab, Share Workbook, and check the Allow Changes box.
I am trying to create a master file, with a macro built in, that will allow multiple users to use it at once. The macro is to open a dilouge(sp sorry) box showing the contents of a specific folder, allow the user to selct one of the sheets, then copy and paste the set details from the hidden tab on this sheet (All sheets will be the same barring title), append the details to the master list in the first empty row.
I've got this far thus
Sub Macro1()
'
' Macro1 Macro
'
'
' Modify this folder path to point to the files you want to use.
FolderPath = "My Folder name here"
' Set the current directory to the the folder path.
ChDrive FolderPath
[Code] .....
So I can copy the row, but I can't get the first part to open .
I have a Excel Spread Sheet which has been created, there will be 4 people in 4 different locations who will have access to this spreadsheet and will need to update/amend it through "Dropbox", my question/problem is, how can I link the 4 spreadsheets where information will be updated by one person, but will update all 4 sheets at the same time.
Is this possible and how do I go about it?
When I open up a new workbook it automatically contains 3 macros that I mistakenly added when I was experimenting a few months ago. How can I remove these macros from the default new workbook?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a series of 24 files (for non-profit grants), each of which contains a macro to create a consolidation file of 29 departments (for each grant). Instead of opening each file individually I would like to create a macro in a different file that would open each file and run the consolidation macro in each file. So far I have been unsuccessful in compiling a macro to complete this task.

Application.Run "'C:Documents and Settingspadi4545DesktopProjectRuns10.xls'!main"
ActiveWorkbook.Save
ActiveWindow.Close
The first macro protects all sheets in a Spreadsheet and the second unprotects. The the next Macro Protects the enitre workbook and likewise the next one Unprotects. All using passwords.
VB:
Dim ws As Worksheet
Sub ProtectAll()
Dim S As Object

I am trying to implement the idea of creating an application with two workbooks: a hidden code workbook (CodeWb) that holds all of the forms and macros, and a separate visible data workbook (DataWb) that uses the macros in CodeWb. The DataWb houses a little bit of VBA code to open the CodeWb, which then supplies the programming power to handle click events, etc., performed by the user in the DataWb.
I have advanced to the point of being able to open CodeWb from DataWb and trigger execution of a macro named "DataFileOpen" in CodeWb. This macro initializes things in DataWb and creates buttons there on a particular sheet, using the line:
Application.Run "CodeWb.xlsm!DataFileOpen"
So far so good. This works fine. My problem is that nothing happens when I click on the buttons created in DataWb, with their event handling code residing in CodeWb. Obviously, I'm missing something that maintains a connection between the two workbooks.
How can I use the code in CodeWb to handle all events occurring in DataWb?
Is there a way of finding all files in a directory which contain a macro? I have script which will loop through all files in a folder but I don't know, and can't find, the appropriate syntax for referencing macros/modules.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have written a 2007 workbook which contains 4 simple macros. One of the macros automates the process of saving the print range as a .pdf file. It works fine on my pc but when I send it to others to use, when they try the macros, they all return a 1004 runtime error.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have 4 different workbooks that I want to merge into one workbook. I tried moving the sheets from these workbooks into one workbook but to my surprise all the vba / macros didn't transfer over to the other workbook.
I searched here but all I can find were people that wanted to make a summary workbook or merge workbooks into a worksheet which isn't what i want to do.
I just want to simply merge these workbooks into one workbook without losing all the marco and vba stuff that are in each workbook.
found the following code which works for 1 workbook at a time. I am trying to save 7 workbooks at 1 time. Is it possible?
Sub SaveAsCell()
Dim strName As String
On Error Goto InvalidName
strName = Sheet1. Range("V77")
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs strName
It will work on the first sheet but none after that. I need to have each workbook saved with the value in cell V77. Also if that is possible, is it possible to change where the file is saved as well?
Right now I have a master workbook that will open the 7 other workbooks, paste data onto several pages in each workbook. I would like the macro to save the workbooks. The workbooks are named: 02 Tuesday, 03 Wednesday, 04 Thursday, 05 Friday, 06 Saturday, 07 Sunday, 08 Monday.
When I copy/paste an Excel 2003 file containing macros into an email and send and open into another computer, the macros are gone. How can I ensure the macros go with the file?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a couple of spreadsheets that I have to mail out monthly to the same recipients and I have figured out how to do that in the macro. However, an Outlook alert pops up warning me that an outside program is attempting to send a message and I have to approve the sending of it. I have tried using the Application.DisplayAlerts = False statement, but that apparently only suppresses the displaying of warnings and alerts in Excel, not the entire Office suite. Is there any way I can make this message go away and just send the e-mails w/o intervention?
Second, I have another spreadsheet which imports data from our UNIX system that I run twice a week. It analyzes, massages and reformats the data, then saves it to a text file, which then gets sent to the same recipients every time. Is there a way to send the text file as an attachment automatically through a VBA macro in Excel? If so, how? So far, I have been able to find help on how to send the entire workbook or a sheet within the workbook, but not a file other than the workbook.
I'm try to put together a set of macros that perform certain operations within a file. However I've got a bit stuck on the following, and I can't see where I've gone wrong:
View 3 Replies View RelatedI still cant figure out how to write macros. If someone could help me out with this I would appreciate it.
Currently I have a worksheet that is 20mb.
This file contains what takes up most of the space. I repeat this line many times throughout the worksheet.
010807.zip
Once again it is a zero eliminating code.
If someone could reduce the number of formulas for me, I think I could figure out how to adapt it to repeat throughout the sheet.
I would like to email an Excel file without the macros so the end recipients will only see the data and not be confused or excited about the prompt to enable/disable macros.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway in which I can open a spreadsheet and then delete any macros which exist in that file with VBA?
For Example
Workbooks.Open "\sysdevwebwCorpAcctSuiteReportsNetProfit.xls"
''Delete Any Existing Macros Code''

I have a couple of basic macros that edit formatting in a sheet that I want to send out to various people. The problem is, when I change the file name of the worksheet - the marcos stop working as they refer to the actual original file name.
Could someone please advise if (I am sure it must be somehow) it is possible to emmend the Macros in some way so that they continue to work regardlesss of what the end user decides to name the worksheet.
1- how can i open an xls file from a macros to get some data from it?
2- how can i set a wait function, till i press a special button before macros will be able to continue.
e.g.:
[macros.xla]
I am running the macro below which changes details in my spreadsheet using details from an external table.
Range("C7:E36").Select
Selection.ClearContents
ActiveWindow.SmallScroll Down:=18
Range("C42:E51").Select
Selection.ClearContents
ActiveWindow.SmallScroll Down:=18
Range("C58:E69").Select
Selection.ClearContents
ActiveWindow.SmallScroll Down:=15
Range("C75:E86").Select
If I want to perform this process without having to change the directory to the t drive etc, how do I change the macro? Is there a way, that as long as each of the relevant sheets are in the same directory, i can point the macro there? Ie, as long as all saved together in My Documents or Desktop, the macro automatically looks there?
I've created a spreadsheet that I need to share. I've created a custom menu with macros. When I copy the spreadsheet, the macros refer to the original file with an absolute path. Is it possible to copy the spreadsheet to another location and have the macros use that path?
The form is completed by the project leader, then they hit a Command Button and it's sent to the Senior Manager. After the Senior Manager looks at it and approves it, he then sends it on to Admin (me!) so the project can get set up on all of our systems.
We recently upgraded to Office 2007 (yes, we are a bit late!) and now the Macro that sends the form to Admin no longer works. An example of the error is as follows:
Cannot run the Macro "FY06-10 PROJECTS 19-Jan-10 08-32'EmailtoAdmin.EmailtoAdmin'. The macro may not be available in this workbook or all Macros may be disabled.
Here is the code that I use to send it to the Senior Manager:
Sub MailtoSM()
Dim FileExtStr As String
Dim FileFormatNum As Long
Dim Sourcewb As Workbook
Dim Destwb As Workbook
Dim TempFilePath As String
Dim TempFileName As String
With Application
.ScreenUpdating = False
.EnableEvents = False
End With
Set Sourcewb = ActiveWorkbook
ActiveSheet.Copy
Set Destwb = ActiveWorkbook
With Destwb
If Val(Application.Version) < 12 Then
FileExtStr = ".xls": FileFormatNum = -4143

I am trying to find a way to dynamicly change CSV files .What I want is to add another column to the table with the values that based on the pre programmed parameters. For example if i have A,B,C,D columns and rows 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 I need macros to add values in column E based on the values of column B(for example)
I want to be able to pre-set those algorithms.For example for value 1033 in column B I need macros to insert value 1.25 in column E in the same row,for value 951 in column B I need 0.3 in column E in the same row. Is it doable just in Excel?
I am facing an issue where my macro is unable to open multiple files and run the macros in it. Below is the code that i am using and it stops at boss1.
VB:
Sub allboss()
Call boss1
Call boss2
End Sub
