Aug 13, 2008Is it possible to save a diagram (chart) as an gif image with vba? Save as web files is not an option as it generates folders and other files aswell, nor no plugins/third party. Standard vba only.

Create Pie Charts And Save As Image?
Jan 29, 2013Create an individual pie chart for each row of data (roughly 2000 rows in master list). Data to be charted contains 2 cells (Benefit and Salary). Once the chart is created I need to save the chart as an image (assuming it will need to go into Paint or another program?) Once the images are created and saved to a folder I can add the image link (file location) to a merge document data source. This way I will be able pull in the pie chart (now a picture) with a merge field during a mail merge.

Jan 8, 2013I have used this code for over a year now and for some reason when i transfer it to a new workbook I am now getting a Run Error 91.

It almost seems to me like the code is not selecting the activechart, but, not entirely sure.
Copying Chart With Image On Top Of It
Mar 22, 2007I have a workbook where there is one chart per worksheet.
The chart may start in a different cell depending on the worksheet.
Each chart has an image on top of it (small image in the corner).
I already know how to copy the chart to the clipboard using a visual basic script. I am getting the first chart object on the worksheet. Is there some way to copy the image and the chart together to clipboard? I assume that I need to somehow group the chart and image together before copying to clipboard. The image will always be on top of the chart but may not always be in the same position on top of the chart.
The reason why it may be good to group the chart and image together is because I want to preserve the location of the image with respect to the chart.
How would I do this via a visual basic script?

Sep 27, 2013I produce spreadsheets which is conditionally formatted to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The tables are separated by one line, and can easily be defined by VBA, I was wondering if it is be possible to export them as image files via vba? I know it can be done for graphs, but not sure about defined sections of the worksheet?

Aug 7, 2014Basically I am making a macro function to save a copy of a chart as an image file to a specific folder. The chart is a pivot chart and so I am changing the values and saving again after running the macro again, but want the image to be saved with a new file name ie not overwriting the existing one, so ending up with a folder with chartimg1.jpg, chartimg2.jpg, etc..
Below is the code I have after playing around, I know I'm close as i did have it working. It saved the chart jpeg fine, but it just got overwritten when I ran it again to create the net jpeg.

Image As Custom Xy Chart Marker
Oct 19, 2007I'm trying to use an image as a custom marker on an XY scatter chart. The jpg image is embedded on a separate worksheet and when I copy and paste it via code it seems to be arbitrarily resized. I've also tried to resize the embedded image and set the marker size but it always appears about 3 times the size of the original image. See CASE -0.5 below.

Aug 18, 2006I have a function that exports charts as PNG images, that is suddenly broken. The function is very basic: ActiveChart.Export fileName:=chartFileName, FilterName:="PNG"
Now I can guarantee that chartFileName contains a complete path, with filename and extension, so this is not the problem. I am getting the following error: Run-time error '1004': Method 'Export' of object '_Chart' failed. The only thing I can think of is that I had Office 2007 Beta installed alongside Office 2003, as mentioned by Andy in the following thread: Exporting Charts as GIF - Error. I have uninstalled Office 2007 Beta, and run the repair function of the Pffice 2003 install, but still I have this problem.
Image Folder - Save 500 Images In Another Folder?
Jul 18, 2014I have a list of items in an excel sheet... 500 of them... and there are images for them in an other folder... The problem is those images are in 1000's and I only need those 500 images.. Images are saved as "SKU.jpg eg NS2354.jpg and we have an SKU column in excel as well .. SKU and their images have same name...
Is there any solution to pick up only those 500 images from those thousands of images?
Is it possible to save those 500 images in an other folder?

Mar 18, 2014I need to link an image to a cell value and display the selected image in a new sheet of the same excel. I am attaching samplefile for easy reference. The requirement is, from the workout sheet when I select from drop down list, then the corresponding cell value appears in Parameter sheet in C9 cell.
There are four images copied in Parameter excel. The given image has to be selected and linked to the C9 cell value. Based on the selection that particular image should be shown on Sample Picture sheet. Here based on the selection only the image should reflect here.

Oct 26, 2011My workbook simply has multiple columns of data which will be summarized visually in a tag cloud (I have the tag cloud part taken care of already creating either a jpg or png, I simply have to change the extension within a batch file to change between picture formats)
I need to have the tag cloud image display and update depending on which column the user would like to summarize (for now I have simplified the issue by only having one of the data columns in my workbook, and will worry about the user selection of the data column to be summarized later).
My Main Question:
Focusing on the image display and updating now, whether it be an ActiveX Image Control or any other way. I've been playing around manually before I try and code it and I can not get either a jpg or png file to attach to the ActiveX control (both of which cause an Invalid Picture Message).
The file name can stay the same if need be and for now I think/assume that'd be easiest (I have my Tag cloud generator just replacing the previously existing image file of the same name).
Would ActiveX control be the way to go for this dynamically changing image?
How To Automatically Identify Image Name And Place In Cell Next To Image
Jan 22, 2014I am looking for a way to take the picture name associated with an image ie: (picture 571) and place that picture name in the cell next to the image.
I can see the picture name - it registers in the top left box that usually indicates the cell the cursor is on... and I could manually type that name next to each image.
However my spreadsheet has several thousand rows- each with several columns of information and an image..
I am looking for a way "formula?" to automatically read the image in cell J4 and populate cell K4 with the image name... and so on.
The reason for my request... is I am importing products into a web based shopping cart... to do so I have to export the products to a csv and import that csv into the shopping cart. The process of exporting to a csv- strips away all the images and leaves just data.
I found that I can save the document as an html and that process creates a folder with all the images- saved as (picture 571.jpg) if the resulting csv had the image name... the shopping cart would then look for that image name in my image file and it would populate into the shopping cart appropriately.
This seemed on it's face like a really simple thing to do, I have plenty experience with excel & I thought I'd be able to make cell k4= j4 and tada it would glean the image name & I could simply copy that formula all the way down the sheet & it would be done... but I just cant find the magic button that freely gives up the image name...

Jan 22, 2012I have a number of image controls on a user form, each being loaded with an image from file.
Image1 being loaded with a picture of a bus image2 being loaded with a picture of a school
And so on
Now what I am trying to do is when that image is clicked the name of that image is passed to a textbox
So the action would be
1 image of bus loaded into image control1 , the name of that image being bus.jpg
2 image is clicked
3 the name bus.jpg appears in a text box

Which works but as you can see this is static, as I have supplied the value , were as I would like the clicking action to pick up the name of the jpeg being displayed
So expanding upon this if say image1 is loaded with say a picture of a car instead of a bus

Now when it is clicked the name of the image being displayed in image control1 would be Car.jpg
And it is this value I wish to transfer to a text box for now will do more with it later
In addition to this I am not sure if the best idea is to have a number of image controls and load each with an individual picture or have one image control and swap the picture by clicking a command button

Mar 17, 2009I'm having a problem with named ranges in a chart. I'm using Excel 2007 in Windows XP.
I have a line graph with twenty different series all using dynamic ranges. I created each series individually, typing the name and then the dynamic range I had previously defined. As far as I am aware, Excel demands when writing the reference that you specify which sheet/workbook this named range is from, so, given the scopes of my ranges are all 'workbook', I added the name of the workbook to the references.
e.g.
Series name:
Series1
Series values:
='workbook name'!range1
This seems to work fine, but when I save and then re-open the file, the dynamic ranges no longer work. If I go to Select Data and look at the reference for a series, it has been changed thus:

=[0]!range1
Excel 2007 :: Expanding And Contracting Chart Range Doesn't Save
Sep 14, 2012My chart data range is: ='Summary Data'!$A$2:$BF$8.
Since it expands a few times a week to BG, BH, BI etc., it seemed to make sense to use the standard OFFSET and COUNTA formula to expand it. The every time I typed the Offset formula in, it worked but each time I save it, it changes to an updated (correct) fixed reference. i.e. back to the format above.
Many threads I've read seem to say that you should be able to use an expanding range in charting.

It still prompts users to open as read only however if they select no, they are not prompted for the password, and it has allowed them to save, so when the next person opens it, they have the previous person's report instead of the clean workbook. I have tried everything to put a password onto it. I know this is really basic stuff, but maybe I am missing a step? I want the end user to be able to make all the changes they want in read only mode and then do a save as, but if the select No when prompted "Open as Read-only?" they should have to put a password in.

Aug 21, 2012What I am trying to do is that I have an excel file with macros and it is a read-only file. In order for the user to save, I want them to only be able to save as a .xlsx file as it disables all macros. If for whatever reason, the user wants to save the file as another .xlsm file, they should be allowed but before they save, a "are you sure you want to save as .xlsm?" message should pop up.
All the options in the save as box should still be available in case they want to save in that particular format. Just that the .xlsx should be the default.

If so I want the macro to do a regular save (with already esatablished filename and location) before it proceeds with the rest of the macro. If the file hasnt been saved (if it runs from a new workbook) then I want it to pop up the save.as dialog, so that the user can choose the name and location of the file before the macro continues .
The macro itself is saved in personal.xlsx.
