Excel 2003 :: Unable To Allow Users To Make Changes To Workbook But Only Be Able To Do Save As Not Save
Dec 3, 2012
I have an expense report, which was originally done in Excel 2003. It still prompts users to open as read only however if they select no, they are not prompted for the password, and it has allowed them to save, so when the next person opens it, they have the previous person's report instead of the clean workbook. I have tried everything to put a password onto it. I know this is really basic stuff, but maybe I am missing a step? I want the end user to be able to make all the changes they want in read only mode and then do a save as, but if the select No when prompted "Open as Read-only?" they should have to put a password in.
I have a summary workbook that I want to save into different folders designated by the input from my userform. My directory has folders named: "A051 - Watson", "A052 - Gila Bend", "A065 - Tompkins"... etc; but I want to designate which folder to put the summary workbook in by the first 4 characters in the folder names(A051,A056,A055...etc) Let me know if I made it clear enough.
I have an Excel worksheet (2007 version) which I am trying to save as a PDF file. However, the PDF option is not listed in my "Save as type" drop down window.
When saving a file that has 5 sheets that extend to the right of the users screen, sometimes the left part of the report is left somewhat hidden because the last person to save it was using the part to the far right. Is there a way to move all the active cell to A1 and make sure rows A:D or so are showing?
Code, couldn't make it work with VB HTML Maker. I'm new with VBA Basically my idea is when someone open default file, insert data, try to save file, macros save workbook with inserted data as another file (*.xlsx) and make pdf in another folder. Pdf part is working fine, but with second part just can't find right option.
Pdf part
Private Sub Workbook_AfterSave(ByVal Success As Boolean) Dim Name As String Dim i As Integer, j As Integer Name = ThisWorkbook.Path & "PDF Archive" & ActiveSheet.Range("F6") & " Invoice " & ActiveSheet.Range("B11")
[Code]...
Excel part
Private Sub Workbook_BeforeSave(ByVal SaveAsUI As Boolean, Cancel As Boolean) Dim ActSheet As Worksheet Dim ActBook As Workbook Dim CurrentFile As String Dim NewFileType As String Dim NewFile As String
I have some excel files which should be saved in Excel 97-2003 Workbook format . I am trying to write vba code for that i am struggling at starting . problem is i have 6 excel files which should be saved as Excel 97-2003 Workbook format i don't know how i give 6 files path to code .
I enter 13 digit number in a cell, when I save my Worksheet in CSV format the number is changed.
Example: I enter 9328627000014 (this is a barcode) After saving this file the number is displayed in the Formula Bar as 9328630000000 and in the Cell it show up as 9.33E+12 When I go to Format Cells, this cell is selected as Scientific. When I change it to Number, after saving it again it returns back to scientific with the old display. Also when I enter 2 digit number in another cell in another column and I choose to be displayed as number with 2 decimal places, after saving the file it returns back as General format. When I am saving this file as CSV a window pops up with a warning that my file may contain features that are not compatible with CSV. I can not choose text format in the cell because it is a datafeed and it has to be read correctly as number.
I have workbook I would like to auto save to PDF copy file in different location every time the original file is save maybe some VGA code is this possible ???
When selecting multiple excel files in explorer, you can right click and choose to print the selected documents. All documents gets opened and printed but the files stay open and you have to manually click on YES or NO to save the changes.
Is there a way not to see this window appear. So documents get opened and printed and closes itself without asking anything. Maybe it can be done with an option in the preferences. I'm not sure.
By the way the documents where created with excel vba just in case it's relevant. Also the version of Excel is an older version, I think it was Excel XP or 2002/2003.
am using Excel 2010 and having issues trying to save a worksheet to a specified file location with the save date....
I have tried several posts form this forum and elsewhere and can't seem to get the macro to do what I want.....
I want to save a 'worksheet' from an open workbook that I use for updating information to the same file path as the workbook with the date the file saved...
I have figured out how to save the workbook using a variable to saveas but I would like to create a new folder to place the new workbook into. I have tried a few things a am not having any luck. I recorded a macro and the code it produced is as follows.
What I am trying to do is that I have an excel file with macros and it is a read-only file. In order for the user to save, I want them to only be able to save as a .xlsx file as it disables all macros. If for whatever reason, the user wants to save the file as another .xlsm file, they should be allowed but before they save, a "are you sure you want to save as .xlsm?" message should pop up.
All the options in the save as box should still be available in case they want to save in that particular format. Just that the .xlsx should be the default.
When saving a file, you get a popup with a suggested path. I need to find a macro that will either offer a suggested file name based on a cell's date value (a1) and a suggested path (to the desktop) for any user that uses the spreadsheet - or simply will save the file using the cell value as the name to the user's desktop.
Each user will have their own version of the file, to save to their own desktop. The macro will need to overcome the issues that each user's path to their desktop will be unique since each will have logged in to the window's session with their own profile.
Sub SheetArray() 'I need the code to bascially loop through the workbook _ identify the worksheets With Priority In thier name And _ Then create an array variable such As _ Sheets(Array("Priority A1", "Priority A2", "Priority A3") _ At this point I can Then select the sheets And save them off To _ another workbook. The issue I have appears simple but I 'm lost as _ To it 's solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have _ been stuck on this For days
Dim ws As Worksheet Dim ShShortName As String Dim SheetString As String
For Each ws In Worksheets ShShortName = Left(ws.Name, 8) 'Debug.Print ShShortName If ShShortName = "Priority" Then SheetString = SheetString + ws.Name End If Next Debug.Print SheetString 'basically I'd like to use the SheetString value above to _ create the arrray variable As above In the comments. The _ reason I want it To use the Loop To assign the variable Is because _ at any one time I 'm not sure as to how many priority sheets I may _ have In the workbook, And this will change constantly
I have a update/Save button on a spreadsheet. So when clicked it updates another sheet and saves the workbook. how can i have it run the macro when they don't click the button and do File -> Save.
Due to the large number of VLOOKUP functions on my page of data whenever I try to save I get the following error codes. Excel cannot complete this task with available resources. Choose less data or close other applications. Unable to save external link values. The problem itself may not be solvable but is there away to prevent these messages from coming up when I save (or when it autosaves?)?
I have the below macro steps to save an excel sheet in PDF format in "C:UsersxxxxxDesktop" and with the name of the workbook.
But when the PDF report gets published in c: drive , the PDF file name has .xlsm added to it instead of just the file name. I would like to know how to publish the file in PDF format just in the name of the workbook.
Find the below macro steps:
Sub Docsave() Dim docname As String docname = ThisWorkbook.Name ActiveSheet.ExportAsFixedFormat Type:=xlTypePDF, Filename:="C:UsersxxxxxDesktop" & docname, Quality:=xlQualityStandard, _ IncludeDocProperties:=False, IgnorePrintAreas:=False, OpenAfterPublish:= _ True End Sub
Windows 8.1 Excel 2010, I open a Template, make some changes in the template then I want to save the modified template as a Template ".xltm" under a new name. I'm using the following code for the new workbook name (which works except for the file extension);
I have a pretty simple spreadsheet (because I'm not an expert on excel) to track temp staffing requirements each week over a year. It only has about 150 rows and a bunch of columns but when I try to make it bigger (add more rows so I can put about 70 staffing positions instead of 19) it will not save (cannot save all of the data and formatting). I have read on the microsoft site that there are limits to data formatting, but it describes over 2000 rows?
Intention is to (automatically) fully protect each completed worksheet/workbook on "save"/"save as" in MS Excel 2007... Is this possible by means of a macro? Which one? Saving in a ".xlsm" format is required?
I am using 2007. This may be something simple but I can't seem to find a solution to this, I have an excel macro enabled workbook which produces a daily report the final task is to save and send an email but I need the file to save as an xls rather than xlsx as some of the recipients are unable to open the file here is the code used for the tasks in the
workbook:Sub Step1_Refresh() ' ' Step1_Refresh Macro ' ' ActiveWorkbook.RefreshAll End Sub Sub step2_save_close()
