Save Charts As Image And Incrementing File Name?
Aug 7, 2014
Basically I am making a macro function to save a copy of a chart as an image file to a specific folder. The chart is a pivot chart and so I am changing the values and saving again after running the macro again, but want the image to be saved with a new file name ie not overwriting the existing one, so ending up with a folder with chartimg1.jpg, chartimg2.jpg, etc..
Below is the code I have after playing around, I know I'm close as i did have it working. It saved the chart jpeg fine, but it just got overwritten when I ran it again to create the net jpeg.

Create an individual pie chart for each row of data (roughly 2000 rows in master list). Data to be charted contains 2 cells (Benefit and Salary). Once the chart is created I need to save the chart as an image (assuming it will need to go into Paint or another program?) Once the images are created and saved to a folder I can add the image link (file location) to a merge document data source. This way I will be able pull in the pie chart (now a picture) with a merge field during a mail merge.
Sample Data
Employee
Benefit
Salary

Want to do something *almost* exactly like a previous post but that post is now closed. Extract Each Sheet To Text File & Save as Sheet Name .txt` I want to extract data from individual worksheets from a workbook in excel to individual text files with the **same name as the original excel file** plus incrementing suffix.
Example: File_Name.xls with worksheets: Sheet1, Sheet2, Sheet3
==> Result...... File_Name_01.txt, File_Name_02.txt, File_Name_03.txt
don't delete - this is not a duplicate post. Previous code 1) creates text files with "sheet name" as was the original post's intent (not "file name") and 2) it does not iterate through each sheet (only processes Sheet1 regardless of selected sheet in the workbook)
Sub wsToText()......................

When it opens the desired file, it increments the file name by 1 each time it is opened (via the macro).
Example;
The first time it is opened you see the file name in the header read "P'Binder L&T Pages" for a moment, then it changes to "P'Binder L&T Pages1"...
I close the file and open it again (via the macro), and see the file name in the header read "P'Binder L&T Pages" for a moment, then it changes to "P'Binder L&T Pages2"...
The file name continues to increment on every opening until the PC is rebooted, then it starts at 1 again.
Sub OpnLTpages()
Dim wb As Workbook
Dim AlreadyOpen As Boolean
AlreadyOpen = False
For Each wb In Workbooks 'Scan open workbooks
If wb.Name = "P'Binder L&T Pages.xls" Then ........................

Is it possible to save a diagram (chart) as an gif image with vba? Save as web files is not an option as it generates folders and other files aswell, nor no plugins/third party. Standard vba only.

I produce spreadsheets which is conditionally formatted to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The tables are separated by one line, and can easily be defined by VBA, I was wondering if it is be possible to export them as image files via vba? I know it can be done for graphs, but not sure about defined sections of the worksheet?

What I am trying to do is that I have an excel file with macros and it is a read-only file. In order for the user to save, I want them to only be able to save as a .xlsx file as it disables all macros. If for whatever reason, the user wants to save the file as another .xlsm file, they should be allowed but before they save, a "are you sure you want to save as .xlsm?" message should pop up.
All the options in the save as box should still be available in case they want to save in that particular format. Just that the .xlsx should be the default.

i m sending image files via EMail attachment with VBA code. Though the images are 5Mb+ each and when sending 20+ on a 128k upload connection that takes a while. Is there a way that the images can be resized through vba and saved as a new folder. Or send the images to another program and pause the code until the resizing has been done.

I want to insert image on my userform, but I have problems with It. Image is originally .png and has no background, which is what I need.
Excel doesn't allow me to use .png, so I had to convert It to .jpg, but then background is included. Even that would be o.k., If I could somehow change picture background to "&H8000000F&" system colour, but failed to do that also.
So I tried with converting file to .ico, and again Excel recognizes It as invalid picture.
I just want to insert image, and leave background same colour as Userform.

I am looking for a formula to allow an image file to show when a cell equals a certain text string. If it can be done can it be achieved with multiple images? I am making a database that will calculate from many variables my required glass sizes, given the size and window type and I was hoping to go one step further by making it raise a purchase order from a series of images and other related data.

I am using OCR software to convert .tiff files to .xls files. In Excel I wrote a macro that executes upon encountering certain errors however I can't figure out the code I need to make Excel print the original .tiff file even though they have the same filename just different file extentions (tiff vs xls). I have all the necessary code except how to call the original .tiff file and print it to a printer.

I would like vba code that will export a given group of cells, or a defined print page area to a jpg file (preferable, but other image format would work). I'm planning to create a program that will change some cell data and create a jpg file for various sets of data.
I suppose if that's not possible that another alternative would be ok, so i'm open to suggestions, but the export to jpg format would be great. I found a little program that will do it, but i wanted to include the code in my program to make it all automated.

So I have a spreadsheet of several thousand products (spare parts) and we received a folder of image files to go with these parts, however the file names aren't all uniform; some of the image files have the Part Number, while others use the SKU number. I have cells with the part # and SKU number for each product, and I could probably copy and paste the list of all image file names from the folder into the same spreadsheet. Is there a macro that could search the image file list for either the SKU or Part Number, and whichever is listed for each row, insert that file name into a cell? So I have this:
Item name SKU # Part #
Spare Part 1 123456 P0459381B
Spare Part 2 340934 P2394093A
etc
And then I have the list of image files in its own Sheet or whatever's easiest
P0459381B.jpg
340934.jpg
etc
So after the macro is complete, I'd have:
Item name SKU # Part # Image file
Spare Part 1 123456 P0459381B P0459381B.jpg
Spare Part 2 340934 P2394093A 340934.jpg

my code brings up an empty dialog box.
The file I am trying to view is saved as follows: C: Test.gif
What I have done.Added a image control to a dialog box, called image1
Added the following event handler to image1:
x = c: test.gif
Image1.picture = loadpicture (X)Pressed F5 to test the code and brings up a dialog box with a blank image box.
Not called the userform in the main module (didn't seem much point considering the test failed)
My questions
where I am going wrong with this, the correct code?
Also in inputting the address of the file I could not use the C: format as this brought up an error. What is the correct format?

A co-worker of mine is exporting files from Quickpen as excel files, but every time he names the files with any Uppercase letters in the files name, they are automatically changing to all lower case. Even when he tries to rename the files, they will not stay with any uppercase letters....I have searched all over and cannot find a solution. If he sends ME the file, I can open it in excel and save it with any cases.

I have a Workbook that already has a macro in it that will generate multiple sheets based on certain criteria.
For each of these newly generated sheets (numbered 1-6 in the attached example), I need to be able save each of them to a PDF file based on a unique name contained in a certain cell (in this case, each named is referenced in cell Q1 of each sheet). As such, I should end up with 6 pdfs based on the attached sample files.
The PDFs would ideally need to be landscaped and should be just 1 page per sheet.
In my attached sample workbook, you'll notice that I have a "PracticePrint" macro that doesn't quite get the job done. One other criteria involves not printing any sheet with the characters "1010" in it (my PracticePrint macro is setup to do that, but it fails to do much else).

I have written the following simple macro to import some data into a worksheet and then prompt the user to save the file in Excel 2003 format (the system to which we will upload this data does not accept formats later than 2003). The template is in "*.xlsm" format.
The code executes without error, but when the user hits the "Save" button in the "Save As" dialog box, nothing happens. The "Save As" box closes, but no file is saved.
Code:
Private Sub cmdImportData_Click()
Dim sFName As String
'On Error Resume Next
PrepData
CopyData
FormatColumns
'prompt the user to save the file in "*.xls" format
sFName = Application.GetSaveAsFilename("upload", "Excel files (*.xls), *.xls")
End Sub
