I am using Excel 2003 and need to save via VBA code a single tab in a workbook to a new workbook. I need to be able to specify the new workbook file name and location. The copy feature on the tab won't work because the data is too large and I get an ugly message using that option.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe reports I build work from a basic template with 10 or so separate, slightly different versions. In order to make them I currently update the data in the template and then click on "File>Save As..." ten times, renaming the file as appropriate.
Example:
Overall Report for yyyy/mm/dd
Partner A report for yyyy/mm/dd
Partner B report for yyyy/mm/dd
ad nauseum..
Is there an easy macro that could save and rename my file multiple times? It would need to accept manual input for the date. Preferably it would be something that I could easily tweak to change the filenames and number of reports saved as this is most of what I do.

Automating Excel from Access, I'm attempting to generate a single sheet workbook and save to a Sharepoint site. This process works fine on my machine (XL2007, XP), but on a coworkers computer (XL2003, XP), the code throws a 1004 error on the save as line. However, the really odd thing is that stepping through the code doesn't throw an error on the coworkers machine.

I am trying to combine sheets from various workbooks into a single file named "Combine". The goal is to have the sheets in Combine indicating their origin.
For example, with:
"File_1" having 2 sheets, "Sheet1" and "Sheet2"
"File_2" having 1 sheet, "Sheet1"
the goal is to have a file "Combine-forum" with the sheets named:
"Sheet1(File_1)", "Sheet2(File_1)", "Sheet1(File_2)"
I have grabbed pieces of code from various sources and read on the forums, but the result is different from what I want; I don't succeed to add the file name to the sheet name. Instead of the file name, the second part of the sheet name appears to be the order in which the workbook have been opened.
To be clearer, what I get is:
"Sheet1(1)", "Sheet2(1)", "Sheet1(2)"

I have a report which I have written a macro to reformat, I then want to copy the sheet (Remake) containing the report into a new workbook as the only sheet in the new workbook. I'm having a slight problem with this script. What I'm looking to do is before the workbook is closed is check to see if the workbook already exisits on the users desktop if it doesnt then save it to the users desktop. if is does exists then just exit the sub. Here is what I have so far but for some reason it kept displaying the aleart message that the file already exists and wants to save it again.
I just added the displayalerts = false in but the script still does not know that file already exists. So when the file is closed it keeps saying file has been placed on your desktop.
I'm trying to use vba to create an offline backup file for a sheet that is linked to an access database. the code I have is simple and worked for a file that is not linked to any database.

My company has files that are already in use. I don't know too many details about how they work, but somehow saving the file will screw it up and my boss has to go back and reset something or other to correct it. Obviously it's connected to some other software somewhere. The code below will block Save and Save-As. BUT how do I get the file to hold onto the code without actually saving the file after the code is added (since the file shouldn't be saved)?

What I am trying to do is that I have an excel file with macros and it is a read-only file. In order for the user to save, I want them to only be able to save as a .xlsx file as it disables all macros. If for whatever reason, the user wants to save the file as another .xlsm file, they should be allowed but before they save, a "are you sure you want to save as .xlsm?" message should pop up.
All the options in the save as box should still be available in case they want to save in that particular format. Just that the .xlsx should be the default.
I have an expense report, which was originally done in Excel 2003. It still prompts users to open as read only however if they select no, they are not prompted for the password, and it has allowed them to save, so when the next person opens it, they have the previous person's report instead of the clean workbook. I have tried everything to put a password onto it. I know this is really basic stuff, but maybe I am missing a step? I want the end user to be able to make all the changes they want in read only mode and then do a save as, but if the select No when prompted "Open as Read-only?" they should have to put a password in.

What I'm trying too do is open a file, make an exact copy and save it under a new file name.
My problem is in the date formula the day is not always the same. In the sample case it's 03 at other times the day will change.

I have learned that I do need to have the file saved before sending otherwise the data will not appear in the email, so with this I want to have the file temporarily saved emailed then the temp file deleted.
