Saving From A Form To Named Cell
Mar 25, 2014
Is it possible to save information entered on a form to a named cell in a worksheet as opposed to in a range of adjacent cells? I am trying to use a form to populate a worksheet where the values stored will not be near one another.

Whenever I make a change to any of my spreadsheets and click save, a backup is created in the same folder. A sample document is attached. Download it, make a change, then save it.

I placed the code below in the ThisWorkbook section of a Service Request macro. The intention was to block users of saving the input they had just entered into the blank template. However, some continue to do it, despite the code. Obviously it is not as tight as I expected.
Does anyone know a better, tighter method, short of killing the offending user (which I am tempted to do, believe me!)?
Private Sub Workbook_BeforeSave(ByVal SaveAsUI As Boolean, Cancel As Boolean)
Dim LoginName As String
LoginName = Environ("username")
If LoginName "chuckdrago" Then
If SaveAsUI = True Then
Cancel = True
MsgBox "Saving this form is not allowed! Print a Copy"
Else
ThisWorkbook.Saved = True
Cancel = True
MsgBox "Saving this form is not allowed! Print a Copy"
End If
End If
End Sub
Private Sub Workbook_BeforeClose(Cancel As Boolean)
ThisWorkbook.Saved = True
End Sub

I have read post re this question but have not been able to answer my problem. I get the error message 'Application defined or object defined error' when running the code below. I should indicate the range counter currently indicated about 6,200 rows that this code will work on and the individual range names in the list of 6,200 rows are spread over at least 20 worksheets.
The code appears to be running but after some time it stops on the line of code 'Range(Cells(i, 1).Value) = Cells(i, 2)'.
Sub PopulateWithImportData()
Dim counter As Integer
counter = Sheets("Imported Data").Range("Counter")
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
Application.Calculation = xlCalculationManual
Worksheets("imported data").Select
Range("a1").Select
i = 1
Do Until i = counter
Range(Cells(i, 1).Value) = Cells(i, 2)
i = i + 1
Loop

I have a user form that has a combo box "City" two text boxes one called "Flight" and the other "Date". What I'm trying to do is to prevent the user from saving the data input from the user form if any of those three fields is left blank. The code that I have so far checks all of the required fields, if any are left blank a message notifys which field(s) is left blank and return the focus back to that field. But the rest of code also fires.
What I really need is either to stop the code if any fields are blank and return the focus back to the blank field, the user completes the field(s) and clicks the save again, or better yet, pause the code until all the required fields are completed and then complete the save. (There is actually another 200+ lines of code in this sub, but I deleted it to keep the post a little shorter.)

Let's say you have a named range, Rng1, which consists of cells A1 & A2. In vba how would you report back what, if any, named range the following cells resides:
Code] .....
here are multiple named ranges so using intersect is not feasible. Essentially, through code, I will be given a range and I need to determine if that range if part of a named range.

I have a spreadsheet that imports data, manipulates it then deletes 2 of the sheets then saves the file under a different name to the network. Is there any way to save this new worksheet without it storing the macros - so when the user open it, only the data is there and they get no prompt to enable macros?

if there is a way to reset the last used cell without saving? I have macro first brings in about 30,000 rows of data, but deletes most of it before it finishes running. This works fine, until the third time I try to refresh the report, when Excel won't let me insert another 30,000 rows of data because it would push the last used cell off the bottom of the report and that's apparently not okay, even if the cell is completely blank.
I have it set to automatically clear the blank rows and save when the report opens, but that doesn't help if they run it too often before that happens. I don't want to do a background save because they may have made changes that they don't want to save.

I am trying to save this file but I'm having problems with "my Name" This information is in a workbook that is already opened called "Recaps" and the sheetname is "Data" and the value I am looking for is in "$C$5". I open another workbook called "Spare" and want to rename and save it to the code below.
Dim myPath$, myName$
Application.DisplayAlerts = False
myPath = "C:Service RecapsJohn Mudaro"
myName = Workbook ("Recaps) Sheets("Data").Range("C5").Value
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs myPath & myName
Application.DisplayAlerts = True

I would like to set up my workbook so that I can save it by the combination of two cell values. The cells are A2 (which displays a country name) and E10 (which displays a string of numbers) and would like to specify the file to where to save the workbook which is:(G:BusUnitsShipping_RecievingInternationalInt'l Order FormsSpecific Orders). The following is a code I have tried that is close but not quite right:

When the user goes to File, Save As, I would like the filename to be populated from the contents of cells B2 and B3, i.e. 11/18/09-23. Is this possible? Also in the same code, can I specify that I want the destination folder to be K:Sheets?

I'm trying to open a workbook using a macro, then saving the workbook that's just been opened using a cell value as the title.
This is what I have so far ... to open up the workbook and then run a macro from there .. this works fine
Sub Test1()
'
' Test1 Macro
' Macro recorded 08/11/2009 by Tracy
'
Workbooks.Open ThisWorkbook.Path & "/MultiFuel Expense.xls"
Application.Run "'MultiFuel Expense.xls'!TestSave"
End Sub
This macro is the one I'm struggling with. I need to save a copy of the workbook I just opened (currently named MultiFuel Expense) in the same directory using the cell contents of G2 as it's name with _expense on the end.
Sub TestSave()
'
' TestSave Macro
' Macro recorded 08/11/2009 by Tracy
'
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:=ThisWorkbook.Path & "" & Range("G2") & "_expense"
End Sub

[Code] ....
User 1 will enter date in column AA, then data needs to be copied to column CY (data in CY must not change again). I have a if formula that check if any AA and CY is the same. If any changes was done, it will give the cell a "YES" trigger to send a mail.
I think the .value is incorrect.

I would like excel to create the folder C:/Bill if it doesn't already exist when I click save/save as option and save the workbook in it with a filename that is a combination of text/values in cells A1 and A2 on Sheet1. Better if the save as dialog box appears with this option selected so that I have to just click Save in the save as dialog box to save it in "C:/Bill".

I have a master sheet and 102 'advisor named sheets'. The master sheet is updated daily with information (number and text) along 1 row in different columns (A:W). I would like when the advisors name is typed (W) =joebloggs! for this whole row to be auto input on joebloggs sheet. There can be multiple of these entered daily for same person, so the information would need to populate on the next row so not to type over the previous entry.

My set up win xp pro office 2007. Object is to save the text from a given cell to drive C naming the file with the value in another cell. E.g.
Contents of cell ("AA5") is a string and the content of ("D5") is a number
I have tried altering the code posted which i found on the forum, it works fine for the purpose as it was indented e.g. save the workbook and in my case saves it as the value in cell D5.
I guess I need to use some form of object to pass to the save as method but my knowledge of this is somewhat limited in addition as the is a possibility of either the cell being empty and the file name existing on the C drive, I need to disable the windows warnings and just go ahead and save it over writing what is on the C drive is of no importance as it will be the same data anyway, I can wrap the save in a "if Len ( AA5)= 0" to stop it trying to save if the cell if empty it the save the text string i am having problems with:
Option Explicit
Sub SaveAsExample()
Dim FName As String
Dim FPath As String
FPath = "C:"
FName = Sheets("Sheet1").Range("A1").Text
ThisWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:=FPath & "" & FName
End Sub

I'm actually using a macro that saves all the sheets from a workbook in new separate files, and save them in a specified folder.
Code:
Sub Estrazione_Schede()
Dim n As Long
Dim myNome As String
Dim myPath As String
myPath = "D:path"
[Code] ......
What I'm trying to do is that, instead of saving all the sheets in one folder, the macro would save them in different folders, depending on specific values in a specific cell of each sheet. I tried to modify the macro like this, but it doesn't seem to work properly:
Code:
Dim n As Long
Dim myNome As String
Dim myPathOne As String
Dim myPathTwo As String
myPathOne = "D:pathOne"
[Code] .....
With this code the macro ends up to check the condition only in the first sheet and then it copies all the sheet in the same folder.

I am doing this because this workbook is constantly updated and a backup copy is done based on the date the file is save.

I have created a form in a worksheet which I have added questions too and then locked all cells except the ones where I want the answers in.
I have then added a button to the bottom of the sheet called "Print and Save". This work sheet is called "form"
On a second sheet called "database", I have all the titles of the questions running from a -> k and nother else.
What I want to happen is the user input the information on "form" into the boxes available. Once they have completed the questions, I want them to be able to click on "Print and Save" so that firstly the page "form" prints, and then for all of the answers to be saved in "database" below the titles for each question.
I have had a play, but just don't know where to start. Also, once there is a row of questions below the titles, I don't want it to overwrite information already there, it needs to go onto the next empty row available.
Attached is my excel file.
You will see in the code that I have the code for printing.. I just found this on the net and it seems to work fine for me.

In order to do some analysis on these airfoils, I need to save each 3x50 as separate text file to define input for analysis code.
How can I do this in VB in one macro?

I have a sheet where i have many differently named areas (like state1_1 and state1_2) When I doubleclick on a cell then a macro should run with following criteria: 1) Macro will run if the doubleclicked cell is part of any range in the list. Here I mean that names of ranges which belong to that list start with word state (like state1_1 and state1_2). No other ranges should not be in that list. If the cell is not in the range that is part of the list, then nothing should happen.

I'm missing something in my UserForm initialization code. If I fill the form out once and click 'OK' (run the code to put the form data into a sheet), when I go back into the form all the old info is still there. If I then click 'Cancel' (Unload Me) and reopen the form, the old data is cleared out. What am I missing to make it clear it out the first time?

I'm having trouble trying to come up with a way to insert data fields into a spreadsheet form. I have a travel authorization form that I would like to have automatically fill in the required fields based on typing in a name. i.e. I would type in an employees name, and it would automatically fill-in the correct address, etc for that employee. I have attached a spreadsheet that contains one sheet as the form, and another sheet containing the employee data. I know nothing about VBA, but I have a feeling that is where I need to go.

I am needing to create a form that exports data (a quote) to an Excel Db (table) and is then able to recall the data back into the form. (the default form in excel does this and I want to copy that.)
Once the data is called back in, I can then export it to another Table to show that the quote has been approved and will be used.
I am having trouble with the VBA coding that copies the inputted quote in Cell C2 (the reference for the quote number) of the "Form" sheet and looks it up in the "Database" sheet. I have tried several variations of code, but nothing works so far.
-SS
Sub RecallQuote()
'
' RecallQuote Macro
'
Sheets("Form").Select
Range("C2").Select 'this is the cell that holds the quote number to look up from the table
