Reset Last Used Cell Without Saving

Nov 14, 2008

if there is a way to reset the last used cell without saving? I have macro first brings in about 30,000 rows of data, but deletes most of it before it finishes running. This works fine, until the third time I try to refresh the report, when Excel won't let me insert another 30,000 rows of data because it would push the last used cell off the bottom of the report and that's apparently not okay, even if the cell is completely blank.

I have it set to automatically clear the blank rows and save when the report opens, but that doesn't help if they run it too often before that happens. I don't want to do a background save because they may have made changes that they don't want to save.

Saving A Workbook By Two Cell Values

The following is a code I have tried that is close but not quite right:

Workbook Save/Reset Options ?

Jan 16, 2010

I have an Excel 2007 Workbook that has a variety of different reports. I’m trying to find a way that will allow me to reset reports back to original setting after the report has been completed. Sometimes a report may take a couple days to complete, so closing and saving is a must. Any thoughts how I may achieve this.

Reset Workbook To Original State

Dec 21, 2008

I am looking to create a macro button which will reset the sheet to its original state.

I have locked the cells users should not imput data into, and unlocked where they add their data.

At the end of every school year, they will need to be able to reset ALL the workbooks back to their original state with all the reference formulas.

I am thinking I will need to tell the macro to create a hidden copy of the workbooks and then upon hitting reset it will use the backup to override the current. But they will need to be able to reset at the end of every year.

I would like to have one reset button that resets ALL the workbooks at once, but if not, I could put a reset button on each workbook.

As I have just started my VBA training, I have a code that will create a backup and hide it, but I have no idea how to do the reset portion. And again, since they need to be able to reset it each year for x amount of times, I don't know how to get it to keep having a fresh backup and get everything to its original.

AutoFilter Reset Each Time Workbook Entered

Jun 22, 2006

I have a workbook that is accessed through a network by many users. The one problem that occurs with certain users is that they leave the autofilter on when then are in the spreadsheet. It has an autofilter on each title, and the user initials are an option to filter...certain users leave the filter on when they save the sheet so the next time someone else goes in, it only displays the previous users results.

Is there a way to reset the autofilter for the user initials each time the sheet is opened?

Reset View To Normal On Workbook Close

The problem is that the prompt to close full screen appears rather than the view automatically resetting to normal.

What additional codes is needed to fully automate this?

I have:

ActiveWorkbook.Save
Application.Workbooks("PCAR Log.xls").Close (0)

Extracting Information From A Workbook And Saving Into A Separate Workbook

Feb 21, 2014

i have a workbook blank template for my colleagues to fill in, they fill in this blank template and save it under the serial number of the item they are creating. However a lot of errors exist when they input the serial number inside the workbook where the serial number is a duplicate of a former serial number.

Anyhow i was wondering is there any way when they input the serial number into the worksheet that i could get it to save in a separate workbook and then have conditional formatting to check those serial numbers in the workbook to see if they match?

Using Excel 2010 - I have a large workbook with multiple worksheets - been using it succesfully every day for a long time. All of a sudden every empty cell, and any cell not specifically formated in every worksheet has a default cell format of Time. Any new workbook created is OK.. defaults to 'General' - But, if I add a new blank worksheet to this particular workbook it defaults to 'Time' format. How did the default cell format for this workbook become set to 'Time' from 'General' and how do i fix it?

Saving Cell Contents To XML File Saved As Current Workbook File Name

Dec 12, 2012

I have numerous spreadsheets that I need to open and unhide a sheet, that has XML data stored in cell A1. What I need to do is copy that data in cell A1 and paste it into a text document and save that as an XML file saved as the XLS workbook name with a date stamp.

I'm running into many issues, the main issue is the saving as current file name, and the formatting of the text/XML file.

Here is my current code, which doesn't reference the current file name and is just very generic. Once I get the saving as file-name correct and the formatting of the xml file correct, I will work on it a bit more.

Code:
Sub Test()
Dim Rng As Range
Dim wb As Workbook
Set Rng = Range("A1:A2")
Set wb = Workbooks.Add
With wb
Rng.Copy

Saving Just One Tab Out Of A Workbook

Dec 4, 2008

I have an Excel doc with ~20 tabs. Each type represents 1 type of activities (soccer, tennis, etc). The size of the file (with the 20 tabs) is pretty significant (>1mb), which jams our email traffic.

Is it possible to:
- keep this workbook with the 20 tabs when open by the user;
- let the user select and fill in whatever tab he needs (just one at a time);
- have a button for the user to click that will save only this tab with a different filename (therefore, when sent by email, the file should be pretty small).

Crashes When Saving Workbook...

Jun 8, 2009

As I've learned to develop Excel apps with vba over the years I've noticed that, if the Excel app starts to get too large (over 1MB) saving it will often cause the application to crash for no apparent reason - the result being that I lose all the vba code I entered before the last save - with the worst case being that, on occasion I have lost all of the vba code in an applications!!!

So, I've learned to back up often using a third-party utility that I use to save my applications, which works wonders in allowing me to save my application without it crashing. The application is called Code Cleaner 97.exe. It was designed around Excel 97 (which I still use) but if possible I'd like to get an updated version for Excel 2003 and Excel 2007, which I also use.

Does anyone know of a more recent version of this utility, or another similar utility that allows large Excel applications to be properly saved, etc?

Code Cleaner 97.exe was a freebie that was available through one of the old Compuserve Excel forums. It was a very popular utility and was suggested as a means to save one's Excel apps without the app getting trashed, etc.

I'm not expecting a freebie solution so I'll gladly pay for something that allows me to save my large Excel apps without them crashing, etc.

Shared Workbook Saving

Mar 5, 2010

How do I get a shared workbook to automatically save upon every change by each user. The only way I can get this to work (at this point) is to run a macro that updates every 45 seconds IN EACH WORKBOOK! It's counterintuitive because the workbook is shared (on a network), but each user must start the "time" macro in their "individual" SHARED workbook to allow the automatic saving.

What am I missing? There has to be a more efficient way to do this, right?

Code below
HTML Sub Time()

Call Save
Application.OnTime Now + TimeValue("00:00:45"), "Time"

End Sub

HTML Sub Save()

ActiveWorkbook.Save
End Sub

Closing The Workbook & Saving Automatically

Jan 25, 2008

I have my Excel workbook open & have made changes. Now I close it and Excel prompts me if I want to save the changes. Is there a way to just close the workbook and automatically accept any changes without have the "Do you want to save changes" message appear?

What about if it is opened in read-only mode? Typically the workbook will not save any changes unless you save it off as another file name. If there is a solution to my question above, can it be enabled only when the workbook is opened in edit mode, or will it not auto-save changes over the file because Excel knows it was opened in read-only mode?
