Am working on a spreadsheet which has two sheets, one for the visual interface and another for the data, the data is displayed on a form, the form is opened by clicking on the cells.
Currently this is working for the top row of A5 to AA5 or 1-001 to 1-024, however when I try to include A8 to AA8 or 1-025 to 1-048 it fails.

How to include A8:AA8 and more when needed?
Assume that the workbook Book1.xls opens a user form named myUserForm.
I'm trying to show only the user form on the desktop when I open Book1.xls, with Book1.xls minimized on the Taskbar.
And , if the Cancel button on the form is clicked, then unload the form and close Book1.xls.
That simple!
In ThisWorkbook, I have the event:

On the Form, I have the Cancel button:

The above procedure shows the form, with Microsoft Excel blank window in the background, and produces a small bar at the bottom left of the screen for Book1.xls
Click the Cancel button, and both the Form and Book1.xls close, but the blank Excel window remain open !
I suppose I would not be able to edit this version of Book1.xls, but that is fine for now!

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been developing a form in excel (not userforms, just the usual conditional formatting, validation and macros to show/hide rows etc). It all works fine now except one thing was noticed when a colleague was testing it. If she opens the form from the email, and she already has excel open, then the form will not work when she makes a selection from the dropdown list, which unhides the rest of the form. If she closes down all of excel and opens the form from fresh, it works fine.

I simply want whenever a name is selected from combo box1; i want a Grand Total to be selected automatically from Drop Down box2. I have several names in the Combo Box2 and Grand Total is always the last. So note that the list of names in Combo Box2 is dynamic and they keep changing all the time. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have 1 main userform and I need to open another userform using a command button from within that 1st form. The 2nd userform appear right in front of the 1st userform. When the 2nd userform is closed either via VBA or clicking on X, it closes both forms.
why this happens and how I can make only the 2nd form close when it is finished with?

I have a userform which allows user to selected a date formt he calendar. In my code I name the value selected myDate. I want to have a line of code at the begginning of my code that checks if myDate = a date already listed in column H on a sheet named "all dor's". if it does match then a msgbox appear saying "date already entered" and the code return to the opened userform.

When a user selects a second name from the drop down list, I would like excel to automatically update the list box 'First Name'. Also, If a user changes the first name or Last Name, this should be saved
when my userform opens, it automatically puts the cursor into the first text box (based on the tab order) of the userform. I also set this text box value to read "0" (zero) when it first opens.
My questions is, can I make the userform open up as it does now (above), but ALSO highlight the zero ("0") in the text box? The reason is so that when the user inputs a number into this box, it also overwrites the zero in the box at the same time (because the zero would already be highlighted)?

It has worked perfectly for about 2 weeks, well now when I go to open the workbook it gives me the debug error of Run Time error 424 Object Required. I last ran this today at about 8 a.m. no errors, but now about 4 hours later, it is bugging out. What is causing this?
I am writing code that requires data from another workbook. Instead of hardcoding the directory and filename (which changes daily), how can I have the code prompt the user to do this for me?

Also, is there a way to have an initial directory that appears so the user need not go through a dozen directories every time to get to the file?
i would like to use the application.getopenfilename to select multiple files, then with these file's would like to be able to use them to create a email with these files as the attachment. then move the files to a new location and delete the originals.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI need the code to allow a user to select a column of their choice in an open workbook of their choice so that data can be lookuped up and changed. I am happy to create the code to do the lookup/changing, however the nearest I have found is the use of an inputbox which is limited to the active spreadsheet only. Some people have said the input box could be used over to another spreadsheet but I have not found that to work.
What I will need returned is the workbook name, sheet name and column. That will allow me to point to that and do the task.
This code could be used by 5 people and those 5 people could be running it on 20 different spreadsheets.
I thought this would be easy to find but it has eluded me. When using Excel normally, if you do a simple lookup formula, or create pivot function, excel prompts the user to select the workbook/sheet.
I have this workbook with 22 sheets and 21 are hidden. On the one open sheet there is a button that opens a userform with a listbox. I have radio buttons on the side to control whether the list box allows single selection, multiple selection, and extended selection. I want to change extended to open all sheets.
Anyway, I have the list box populated but I can't figure out how to code opening single sheets, multiple sheets, or all sheets depending on the radio button selected when the OK button is pressed. I know the listbox depends on the selected property but I am stuck. Here is the code I had but it is a mess. I am still new to VBA.

I am trying to have the file open in the next blank cell on column C, ut at least have 5 lines showing above it as there is Freeze Panes.

I managed to create some code that will connect to a workbook and take the data from there.
It is kind of SQL mixed with VBA. I just got this by finding it in google (I don't have the link handy now).
What the file does, is it will take 2 columns from a workbook called "Test.xls" and then take out 2 columns "Name" and "ID".
The only thing is, this is only a test and not the actual files I need to open. the files are always saved on the same folder, but the name is the day of the export of it. So when I export a file today, it will get 2014.09.10.xls. The sheet (only 1) will also get that name.
How could I change the below code that it will take that file based on today's date and read from the sheet with today's data?

Two months ago our employer seriously limited the size of our mailboxes. We are "forced" to store emails as msg files on our network. PST archives are not allowed. This naturally sucks, as in Explorer you only have the file names and dates to look for that one particular email amongst hundreds (thousands) of msg files. I was able to compose a program in Excel 2010 that generates a list of msg files from a selected folder, together with metadata (sender, receiver, etc.) and so on.
In a test the program worked fine with 6,710 msg files I could post the code here, but the comments and many of the variable names are in Dutch (I never expected it to work in the first place). There is one thing I would like to add to the program. Sometimes I want to add an email to a new email as an attachment. Nowadays I have to look for the right msg file in Explorer by hand, which is a pitty, because I have the paths and filenames in my worksheet. I can put that in a string variable and let VBA do the looking up.
But I don't know how. I would like to be able to let VBA look for the file in Explorer, select it and then stop. I could then drag and drop the selected msg file in my new email. But all my attempts to find example code end up with code that enables a user to select a file and immediately open it. That is one step too far for me. If the msg file is opened, I cannot add it to a new email as an attachment anymore.
