I have 1 main userform and I need to open another userform using a command button from within that 1st form. The 2nd userform appear right in front of the 1st userform. When the 2nd userform is closed either via VBA or clicking on X, it closes both forms.
why this happens and how I can make only the 2nd form close when it is finished with?
I have a central workbook that relies on data from other workbooks during the various calculations. I am trying to write some code so that when a user closes the central workbook, all of the other workbooks close as well. I have added my code to the thisWorkbook code, but this does not seem to work. Here is an example of the code. The object is to look for a workbook called Import_Sheet5 and to close it if it is open.
Private Sub Workbook_Close() Dim Wb As Workbook Dim sSought As String sSought = UCase(wbName) For Each Wb In Application.Workbooks If wbName = Import_Sheet5 And InStr(Wb. Name, wbName) Then Wb.Activate Wb.Close SaveChanges:=False End If Next End Sub
My Splash screen opens a few seconds after the workbook has loaded. Is there a way to make the workbook open minimzed until the the splash screen closes then open properly? What I trying to say is that only the splash screen is visible until it closes.
I'm trying to pull up a second form from a command button within a form. There's a command button in a sheet to open the first form (frmOrderInput.) Then there's another command button in that form to open the second form (frmPriceInput.)
I've got a list of files in column A (Starting A1), this is complete with filepaths Now I need a macro to open the workbook in A1 then when i close that workbook it then opens the workbook in A2 basically to save me opening them manually each time..
I have two forms...clicking a specific button on the first form should display the second form which works fine.
VB: Private Sub Image_Employees_Click() Form_Main.Hide Form_Employees.Show
[Code].....
When I do this twice, however, the second form seems to freeze/hang and I have to close Excel and then re-open it. I feel like I'm overlooking something obvious...
I`m making an Costumer Database for my business in excel, I already made a form in witch I can insert, change or exclude a client. In this form I have a button that hides the actual form and show another one to perform the search.
The search is working fine with the listbox, what I need right now is that i can search someone and then I click on the client i want in the listbox and somehow get the reference and open the other form with that reference.
The first form work with an reference number that is defined as a variant, so i have a macro that see this number and bring the client with that code. In the other form I needed a macro that gets the value of the selected reference in the listbox, then hide the form, call the other one and run a private sub.
In the attached example I can't add more than one name at a time without closing the user form. I can edit the list and click the "Save Changes" button and the changes happen. But using the "Add Name" button I can not add more than one name without closing the form, it just overwrites the previous name unless I close the form.
Well I seem to be having an issue in a form i created. What happens is that when the user clicks a button it saves a worksheet of workbook as its own file, problem is that it will actually open the new worksheet as a workbook when I really just want it to save without opening a new instance. Here is the code
Dim IntWirefilename As String Worksheets("Intwires").Select Worksheets("Intwires").Copy IntWirefilename = "International Wires Database" Worksheets("Intwires").SaveAs FileName:="File Path" & IntWirefilename & (".xls") Workbooks("File PathInternational Wires Database.xls").Close I think the problem lies in the last line or it could be from the select and copy part.
I do not want it to open a new file after it saves it. Also can anyone help create a part that will bypass the overwrite existing file thing so that this file will just continuously save as the same file name rather than prompting the user constantly to Overwrite the file.
I'm trying to prevent a user from closing a perticular workbook.
Here is some important factors.
Workbook(A) = "LA-01-04-10" This is only one of 52 other but only one is open at a time.
Workbook(B) = "LA.xls" Always the same name and is always opened when one of the workbooks(A) above it opened.
When workbook (A) is opened it will then open another workbook (B) at that time the window is hidden workbook(B) So the user can only see workbook (A) I have a button on workbook(A) that unhides the window to show workbook(B) After the user completes his work in Workbook (B) they need to click another button that sorts the list and returns them to workbook(A) (Which also hides the window for workbook(B).
The problem is I have users that are trying to close workbook(B) instead of pressing the sort list button. So what I want is to prevent the user from closing workbook(B) by displaying a msgbox saying they need to press the button.
Ive tried several approches to this but I'm still having problems. The below script works if workbook(B) is active or shown. The message is displayed and the workbook will not close. However if the user is in workbook (A) and trys to close the message is displayed and both workbooks close like they are suppose to. But why is the message displayed?
One other note I should say is that not only does workbook(A)Open workbook (B) but it also closes it. Which may be why I'm having problems?
I have also included both workbooks so you can see all the code.
I've got this function where you can select from a list of names, and when you press go it unhides the sheet and goes to it, problem with that was after closing the sheet it was no longer hidden. So now, I have
[Code]......
So when you press go, it unhides the sheet, goes to it, and hides it again, but then the sheet is hidden it pushes the user back to the page they was on, so it would appear you can't have a hidden sheet open.
Is there a way for excel to determine when the sheet has been closed, to be able to hide it when the user navigates away?
I have a little knowledge of Excel Programming and I am seeking advice and help. With reference to the http://www.exceltip.com/st/Create_Us...Excel/629.html, I managed to create the form but I somehow couldn’t get it executed. Attached herewith my file for evaluation.
Am having some trouble expanding the range of this macro, I would like it to go from A5:AA5 so when someone double clicks the cell the form will open for this row.
Excel has a built in data entry form window which is opened from the ribbon, how can I create a button which opens this form for a specific table on the worksheet. It should allow the user to create or edit entries in the table. I tried creating a macro to select the data range and open the form, but this returns an error.
Am working on a spreadsheet which has two sheets, one for the visual interface and another for the data, the data is displayed on a form, the form is opened by clicking on the cells.
Currently this is working for the top row of A5 to AA5 or 1-001 to 1-024, however when I try to include A8 to AA8 or 1-025 to 1-048 it fails.
See attached spread sheet for code The problem parts are in;
Sheet1(Layout) Private Sub Worksheet_BeforeDoubleClick.......
Assume that the workbook Book1.xls opens a user form named myUserForm.
I'm trying to show only the user form on the desktop when I open Book1.xls, with Book1.xls minimized on the Taskbar.
And , if the Cancel button on the form is clicked, then unload the form and close Book1.xls.
That simple!
In ThisWorkbook, I have the event:
Private Sub Workbook_Open() ActiveWindow.WindowState = xlMinimized ShowTheForm End Sub On the Form, I have the Cancel button:
Private Sub btnCancel_Click() Unload Me ThisWorkbook.Close True End Sub
The above procedure shows the form, with Microsoft Excel blank window in the background, and produces a small bar at the bottom left of the screen for Book1.xls Click the Cancel button, and both the Form and Book1.xls close, but the blank Excel window remain open !
I suppose I would not be able to edit this version of Book1.xls, but that is fine for now!
I've been developing a form in excel (not userforms, just the usual conditional formatting, validation and macros to show/hide rows etc). It all works fine now except one thing was noticed when a colleague was testing it. If she opens the form from the email, and she already has excel open, then the form will not work when she makes a selection from the dropdown list, which unhides the rest of the form. If she closes down all of excel and opens the form from fresh, it works fine.
I have a userform which opens when the workbook opens. Ideally Id like to have the userform open without the workbook coming up and have the workbook close when you close the userform. If thats not doable then is there a way to just close the workbook when the userform is closed?
I need to create a user form that will "pop up" and ask the administrator to enter the above details.
A - should be created automatically (ie last claim number + 1) B - user enters manually C - data retrieved from a list D - data retrieved from a list E - date is the date the information is entered
Code: Private Sub Workbook_Open() Form1.Show End Sub
It has worked perfectly for about 2 weeks, well now when I go to open the workbook it gives me the debug error of Run Time error 424 Object Required. I last ran this today at about 8 a.m. no errors, but now about 4 hours later, it is bugging out. What is causing this?
I need to create a variable that will be TRUE/FALSE based upon whether the user has made changes to a certain range without running a specific macro. Basically, if they change cells in a certain range, the 'Update' macro must be run. I want this variable to be False if the cells have changed without running 'Update' and then when 'Update' runs, it sets the variable back to True.
I've been able to make this work with a Public variable, but if the user closes the workbook, the variable resets to False. Is there a way to create a variable that will be remember even if the workbook closes?
