I need to seperate the time from a date & time field. When I try the RIGHT Fx, I get numbers that will not format into any time I can use. Please see my file for examples of what I'm dealing with and what I need.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have cells in a column that record time in date. Unformatted it would appear as 19789.51407 but formatted to show time and date it would as appear as 3/6/54 12:20 PM. I am making graphs with the data and I want the title of my x axis to read "GMT Time (mm/dd/yyyy - mm/dd/yyyy)" or "GMT Time (mm/dd/yyyy)" depending on if the event spans more then one day. Using the following code, it almost accomplishes this.

Where "Drag" is a variable that signifies the total number of cells in the column; ie the first and last dates. It compares the values and saves the results as a string. The problem is that when the string is saved it saves the date in mm/dd/yyyy hh/mm/ss. How can i separate the date from the time so I can have the title of my x axis appear as i need them?
I get several workbooks from co-workers in other cities. They include data like the total run time for production. When I copy the time 24:03 fom one cell in their spreadsheet to my spreadsheet it shows up as 0:03. I've already double checked that I'm grabing the right cell and that the format for the cell is correct.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a large dataset where the first column is date and time i.e. "20/01/2005 03:41:06" and I want to delete certain rows based on the times. I have already tried playing about with macro's but failed fairly spectacularly so far. I have code from someone else to delete cells if the value equals a certain time but this doesn't work as the cell contains the date too.
I have already recorded one macro to reformat the data to as the software return 10 timestamped samples per hour and I want 8 i.e. every three hours so there is constant separation for statistical purposes. Both the macros are shown below so you can see what I have.
Ideally I would like to replace the line - If (r.Cells(n, 1) = TimeValue("22:41:06")) ............ - with one that reads - If (r.Cells(n, 1) CONTAINS TimeValue........ - but I don't know if that is possible? If not is there a way to separate the time from the date into 2 columns and then I can delete rows based on the time column using the code below? .......
I have only one column (A) with thousands of cell entries. Each Cell contains a date and time. (x/xx/xxxx 12:34:56)
For example, Cell A1 = 1/24/13 18:45:22
I want the new cells to only have the time, but have the seconds removed (and not simply hide the seconds). This is because I'll need to run Conditional Formatting to find every cell with a similar time - but I only need similar times within the same minute...it doesn't matter if the seconds are off.
The new cell should just be A1 = 18:45
The real reason I need this is because I need to find every entry that has the same time (with hour and minutes), which I figure I'd use conditional formatting for. My problem is that many entries have the same time but the seconds are off.
Example:
1/22/13 12:23:11
1/24/13 18:45:22
1/24/13 18:45:36
1/26/13 22:33:41
In this example, I'd want Conditional Formatting to highlight cell A2 and A3 because they have the same time of 18:45 (not including the seconds). I figured the best way to go about this would be to remove the date and remove the seconds, and run the search that way. However, any way to accomplish goal without deleting the date and seconds would be just as useful.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have some monthly figures that's I need to put into a charts, and I want separate charts for each months data. People add to the list of figures almost every day.
Do I need to put the data in different sheets (Aug, Sep etc), with different tables and charts, or is the a way you can keep it all in one list, and filter it so each months figures get populated in their own chart?
I did try putting the data in separate sheets and making new charts for each one, but it made my file really big. Also as some months are yet to come, the blank sheets were making the charts mess up.
I am attempting to pick up a date with time entry on a worksheet and place it into a TextBox on a UserForm. Format on the sheet is mm/dd/yyyy h:mm AM/PM. The UserForm is placing the value as mm/dd/yyyy 12:00 AM. here is the

"dDate" is the named range where the date is sitting. The format is also set on the TextBox2 exit event. Can anyone see why only the date portion is being transfered with the default 12:00 AM for no time component of the value?
I want to do a simple Sum if. My range is simple and so is my criteria, but the actual range of cells to sum is not in one continus row or column. Can I do the sumrange as seperate cells?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI get a downloaded report from one of my application. Two columns have date and time data. I need to compare these two columns (subtract) and come up with a value in another column next to it to do some analysis on an ongoing basis.
So I know how to compare date and time in two cells but the problem I have is second set of date / time have other text mixed with it and there is some character that Find/Replace can not find (it looks like the "pipe" | character) and I can't replace or delete that character. Additionally when I click on that cell (B1 in attachment) I don't see this pipe character in the top formula section (fx) but I do see this character in the cell itself.
how I can either get rid of this character or extract just the date / time information from cell B1 to be able to compare cell A1 easily?

I am trying to do is, to sum up the values in an array, given that the cell value is not an error.
If the cells were in order, the following array formula would solve it easily:
{SUM(IF(ISERROR(A1:A3),0,A1:A3))}
But my problem is that, my cells are not in order. To be more specific, I want to look at A1, B12 and C13, and sum them up with an array formula given the condition that cell value is not an error. Of course, in my case, I have too many cells.
I am attempting to make a macro for. It requires me to scan a column of cells worth of data (characters) for parts of what they contain and place those parts into a variable or string so that I can use an IF statement to place text in another cell.
I used to know someone who could do this via VBA, but I have been unable to reach him.
This sheet is fairly basic. The cells to be scanned are all in one column, they are all four digit numbers and I need to read the first two digits into separate variables.
Example: If the cell has "4101" in it, I want to be able to read the first digit "4" into one variable and the second digit "1" into another variable.
This way I can place text based on either one of those digits into the next cell over with an IF statement and can enclose it into a large loop to do the entire column.

I have loaded a .csv file in which the first column contains date/times, e.g. 01/12/2012 00:00. How do I now tell Excel (2010) that this is in fact a date/time format? If I select one or more of the cells, click on the Number dialog box launcher and try to pick a suitable format tghe cells resolutely refuse to budge from being text (i.e. left-justified, still allows me to edit the 'seconds' component to a number > 60). Also which data type should I be using? The only one that appears to have a full date/time format listed is Custom (not Date or Time).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have designed a spreadsheet and i want a seperate worksheet (sheet3 for arguments sake) to retrieve customer data from worksheet 2 - The data I required is the customer data currently contained on columns A - H and there are around 50 rows. (A2 - I51). I want the seperate sheet to identify entries that have today's date in column I and then list them in Worksheet 3.
Im having difficulties with the syntax for retrieving the data from a seperate worksheet. There may be several entries for the same date and I want to the seperate sheet to report all customer data in worksheet 3? Also, if the date falls on a weekend I would like to retrieve any data for the weekend on the Monday so all cases can be reviewed.

I'm trying to work out how to have cells R11 - Rxx generate the correct date, based on the rest of the calculations.
Please note that the attached is a crude cut down version of the larger spreadsheet, for the purpose of highlighting my problem.
SO, if E7 is changed, subsequently the values in K11:Rxx will be respectively updated.
D12 and G12 are entered manually. (although I'll probably make these drop downs or date choosers at some point...)
Depending on the value in E7 and time in D12, the required break period is listed in K11: Kxx.
The time that these periods of rest are required to occur before is then calculated and listed in O11:Oxx.
I need R11:Rxx to calculated the appropriate date from these calculations, relative to the date in G12.
For example, the rest required in K11, is required on the same day, as such it need to populate with the value in G12.
However the rest required in K13:Kxx, is required by a time (O13:Oxx) on the following day - G12+1
In some case, this time variance could run over 2 or more days.
I figure it's got something to do with the value in D12 also including the date of 0/1/1900.
I'm happy to add hidden cells for formulas/results to work around it, as the end product will print as an A4 document, where many cells will be locked.
Would prefer not go with any VBA unless it's my only option as I haven't done any VBA stuff as yet.
NB (the value in P5 is static only in this example)

I have the serviceable date of an aircraft delivery set as 'S hh:mm dd-mmm-yy', which is due to being used by an external application in this format. This is entered by the user and I need to be able to extract the date time strings and switch them to dd-mmm-yy hh:mm, excluding the S from the result as a formula in another cell.
I keep getting a #value error or returning the whole string result.
I am using this formula to combine Excel Dates & Times which is in seperate cells.

=B13&"/"&C13&"/"&D13&F13
and trying to convert to Numerical Time for further calculations.
I have tried many Format variations but nothing seems to work.
It will show the correct Numeric Time if the Formula: =NOW() is used in Cell K12
But it won't show the same from the imported data that is Text format
in Cell I 12
The sample W. Book shows a better explanation of the problem.
The end result is to show how much time has lapsed in Cell M 14 by converting Time to Numerical and simply do the sums. Works otherwise but not in this instance.

I am pasting a large amount of data from a sql server query into excel. There is multiple tables output in each query. Some of the data is date/time and excel is formatting all of these cells to time. The date/time cells to not neatly line up in any row or column, so I cannot just format any give column or row. I need a macro that will find all of the cells that are formatted as time and change them to a date format.

Now I need to do a task and can't find online a tutorial for this. Here is what I need:
File A contains 23 columns with info for 300 products (rows). File B contains same columns for 280 out of the 300 products from file A, plus 40 new products.
I need to flag in file A the 20 products that are not in the file B, plus flag in file B the 40 products that are not in the file A.
The structure, columns, etc are the same for both files.

see the attached workbook with two different sheets (same data) using different formulas. Each has problems (red text) preventing me from moving forward.
I need to calculate time in level 1, time in level 2 and total time for each row and then be able to sum for the month. Unfortunately, sometimes there is missing data, but I still need to calculate everything possible using a consistent formula that can be applied to the column/row universally.
