Moving 2003 File With Macros
Jul 24, 2009
I've created a spreadsheet that I need to share. I've created a custom menu with macros. When I copy the spreadsheet, the macros refer to the original file with an absolute path. Is it possible to copy the spreadsheet to another location and have the macros use that path?

I'm using Excel 2003 and recently when I open a file, it prompts out a Security Warning message about Marcros which at the end contains 3 choices: Disable Macros, Enable Macros, and More Info. I then click Enable Macros to open the file. Once open, I go to Tools > Marco > Run Marco (Alt+F8). A Macro box prompt out but the Macro list is empty. I try different choice inside the pull down menu "Macros in" but the Macro list is still empty.
Where can I find out the macro which triggers the warning message of Security Warning when opening the file? And how can I delete the macro if found useless.

Basically I have used a macro to create a chart, but I then want the chart to always display in the same place on the excel sheet.
Everytime I run the macro it is looking to move eg 'Chart14' which now no longer exsists because when I create a new chart it defaults the name to Chart15... is this correct?

I have a setup at the moment where I have a spreadsheet using a bunch of macros that are coded in a module attached to another spreadsheet. In both spreadsheets the macros are tied to Excel buttons placed within worksheets. When I copy the spreadsheets each month to new directories - they're used for some monthly reporting - I see the following behavior:
1/ The spreadsheet that contains the module with the code for the macros correctly updates the location of the macros and works OK.
2/ If I open the other spreadsheet and save it the macros appear in the tools/macro dialog as having changed location OK. However, if I try to use the macros by pressing a button the macros invoked are in the old location. If I check the assignment of the macros in this spreadsheet by right-clicking on a button, indeed the macros invoked are in the old location. This means that I have to go through and manually update for each button the macro invoked.

A spreadsheet that can be used to enter the hours worked by staff each week and then calculate their Gross pay, Tax and Net Pay. THe basic spreadsheet has been created, however it will require aq macro to copy the Week ending, Hours worked, gross pay, tax and net pay columns to the first empty cell in row 1, clear the entries in the week ending and hours worked columns that have just been created and then hide the give columns to the left. which show the data for the previous week.
I know this sounds confusing but ive supplied the file to help you understand. The problem is that we can get the macro to hide the previous five entries and copy 5 new ones in their place but it only does this once. Just about our whole class is having trouble with this as we're not very advanced in macros.

I'd like to insert some radio buttons in a worksheet that activate a hyperlink to a web page and then be able to go back to where I started (ie the radio button)
I can link the button to a macro which was a recording of clicking on a hyperlink. The trouble is when I hit the return arrow to return to the sheet from the web page I go back to the location of the hyperlink not where I started from.
Is there a way to do this with the buttons.
If I can rearrange the sheet to allow for more narrow columns I may be able to just use the hyperlink friendly name argument and do it that way but I'm not so sure I can insert more narrow columns without messing up the layout of the whole sheet. With a button I can float several of them over an area regardless of the width of the columns.

I am using Excel 2003.
I have 2 worksheets.
Worksheet 1 is called "Master List Data". Every cell within this worksheet contains a formula so that it matches the cell value contained in a worksheet held within another workbook.
The formula for reference is as follows:
=IF('[CCL Breakdown.xls]MASTER LIST - Active Customers '!A1="","",'[WFX CCL Breakdown.xls]MASTER LIST - Active Customers '!A1) .
e.g.
If Cell A1 on Master List-Active Customer contains no data, Cell A1 in Master List Data would be blank.
If Cell A1 on Master List-Active Customer equals John Smith, Cell A1 in Master List Data would display John Smith.
There are currently non-blank values contained in cells A4:A750. But next week there may be non-blank values is cells A4:A790 (i.e. it will grow each week)
Worksheet 2 is called "Master List Flat. At the moment, I am manually copying and pasting the rows which have non-blank values in cells from Column A from Worksheet 1 into this report (e.g. A4:IV4).
I would like to automate this process and I have created a Macro, but I do not know how to word it so that it will only copy cells with actual data in.
The Macro I have written is below:
Sub IMPORTANDFLATTENDATA()
'
' IMPORTANDFLATTENDATA Macro
' Macro recorded 01/10/2012 by walesb
'
'
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Sheets("Master List Flat").Select
Rows("4:759").Select

I have a spreadsheet that collates a list of data from week order and puts them in a graph. I have a macro created that basically does the graph, it works fine in 2003 but not in office 2007. I get an error "Run Time Error '1004' Application-defined or object-defined error, then when I click the debug button it highlights "ActiveSheet.ChartObjects.Delete". I'm not sure if when its trying to create a new graph its attempting to delete the old one and isnt deleting it? The full code for the macro is below:
Sub updateStuff()
Dim searchResult As Range 'Result of the find operation - to check if it has worked or not
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
If SheetExists("OTIF Chart") Then
Application.DisplayAlerts = False
Sheets("OTIF Chart").Delete
Application.DisplayAlerts = True
End If
Sheets("OTIF's").Select
Range("B4:N4").Select
Selection.Copy
Sheets("Graph").Select
Range("B1").Select................................

I was wondering if there is a way to write a macro that will take an excel file that I have called Alldata and then have it copy the first two sheets to a new workbook named something else( FullSparameter_0) and then copy the name of the third and fourth sheet into the new FullSparameter_0 workbook and then copy column A-E from sheet dB Alldata.xls and paste it into the FullSparameter_0.xls workbook in the same dB sheet in the same spot. And do the same thing with the Phase Sheet. i know this sounds confusing, but im really new to the VBA stuff.
I just need 15 different files from the original Alldata.xls that will be named FullSparameter_0, FullSparameter_1, .., FullSparameter_14. but each file will have the same two first sheets, Setup Information and Cal Verification, and the same last two sheet names, dB and Phase, but then in the dB and phase sheets, it will copy over the next four columns of data. so in FullSparameter_0 it will have column A-E from sheet dB in Alldata.xls in the dB sheet in FullSparameter_0 (Same with the Phase Sheets). Then in FullSparameter_1 it will have column A and Columns F,G,H and I (for dB and Phase). In fullSparameter_2 it will have column A and then J,K,L and M. Each FullSparameter_X will have the exact same first two sheets and then the other columns for the last two sheets will be pasted into columns A-E in dB and Phase.

I have been using Erik's fantastic "Force Enable Macros" code (exactly as it appears)...
force enable macros & ASK to save changes (SOLUTION)
...with the desired results (and comfort) under Excel 2003.
The code works under Excel 2007. However, if there is another workbook open at the sametime (regardless of whether Workbook two has macros or not), I get an Excel "crash";
Code:
Microsoft Office Excel has encountered a problem and needs to close.
[ ] Recover my work and restart Microsoft Excel There is also a Event ID 7001 in the Event Viewer. I have run Excel diagnostics and there are no issues.

I'd like to know if there is any way to move a .wav file located in a local folder to another known local folder?
I do not need to open the file.
I'd like to use a variable for the name of the .wav file if possible. And I'd also like to use a variable for the pathname of both the original folder and the one the file is moving to. (if that makes any difference).

I have to select about 200 odd files from a folder, and move them to a different folder. The problem is, I have to manually select the 200 files from a list of approx 10,000 (not in order).
I have a list of the filenames (with extension) in an Excel Spreadsheet, and I'm wondering if there's a way to automatically move the files using an Excel macro or something?
example:
File location = C:EBDumped
and I need to move the 200 files to C:EBSent
So I would need to move ONLY the files where the file name is in the Excel list.
The file type (extension) is always the same, but the name (and length of the name) is different.
Is this possible using Windows XP with Excel XP?

I have a workbook in excel 2003 which I had been running the following macros (listed below). We recently upgraded to Excel 07, and neither are working. When I try to run them, the "debug" option highlights the following line in the sort macro "Range("A2:z" & lastcell).Sort key1:=.Columns(1)". This is driving me crazy, as the macros worked perfectly under the older version of Microsoft. Is there an issue with crossfunctionality between '03 and '07'.

I have a couple of spreadsheets that I have to mail out monthly to the same recipients and I have figured out how to do that in the macro. However, an Outlook alert pops up warning me that an outside program is attempting to send a message and I have to approve the sending of it. I have tried using the Application.DisplayAlerts = False statement, but that apparently only suppresses the displaying of warnings and alerts in Excel, not the entire Office suite. Is there any way I can make this message go away and just send the e-mails w/o intervention?
Second, I have another spreadsheet which imports data from our UNIX system that I run twice a week. It analyzes, massages and reformats the data, then saves it to a text file, which then gets sent to the same recipients every time. Is there a way to send the text file as an attachment automatically through a VBA macro in Excel? If so, how? So far, I have been able to find help on how to send the entire workbook or a sheet within the workbook, but not a file other than the workbook.

I am about to undertake a fairly large spreadsheet development project. One of the key requirements is that the size of the spreadsheet be kept to below 4mb, preferrably below 1mb. This is due to an unavoidable restriction.
Although the spreadsheet will not have large volumes of data, it will contain approximately 30 sheets. There are no graphics embedded in the sheet. I imagine there will be a reasonable amount of VBA and/or forumulas in the sheet. Each sheet will basically be a data-entry form with a number of formulas. No sheet will have more than 100 rows.
Without knowing the full details of the spreadsheet, it is difficult for you to give a definite answer as to the size of the sheet, so I am simply looking for some helpful tips in keeping the size down.
Do formulas take up more space than VBA code? When I format cells, should I format the entire row, or just the range? Do features like sheet and cell protection take up a lot of space?

I still cant figure out how to write macros. If someone could help me out with this I would appreciate it.
Currently I have a worksheet that is 20mb.
This file contains what takes up most of the space. I repeat this line many times throughout the worksheet.
010807.zip
Once again it is a zero eliminating code.
If someone could reduce the number of formulas for me, I think I could figure out how to adapt it to repeat throughout the sheet.

Could someone please advise if (I am sure it must be somehow) it is possible to emmend the Macros in some way so that they continue to work regardlesss of what the end user decides to name the worksheet.

Is there a way, that as long as each of the relevant sheets are in the same directory, i can point the macro there? Ie, as long as all saved together in My Documents or Desktop, the macro automatically looks there?

The form is completed by the project leader, then they hit a Command Button and it's sent to the Senior Manager. After the Senior Manager looks at it and approves it, he then sends it on to Admin (me!) so the project can get set up on all of our systems.

I am trying to find a way to dynamicly change CSV files .What I want is to add another column to the table with the values that based on the pre programmed parameters. For example if i have A,B,C,D columns and rows 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 I need macros to add values in column E based on the values of column B(for example)
I want to be able to pre-set those algorithms.For example for value 1033 in column B I need macros to insert value 1.25 in column E in the same row,for value 951 in column B I need 0.3 in column E in the same row. Is it doable just in Excel?
