Jan 26, 2009I recorded a macro where a xyscatter graph is produced with markers connected by lines.
Is there a way to change to to force the graph to be a xyscatter graph without lines?

Pivot Chart Type Changing
Feb 15, 2010I have an issue with pivot charts that I can't figure out and I can't find anyone with the same problems either. I have several big reports that use data from 2005 onwards that need to be represented on graphs separated by the city the data belongs to and different ranges of the results. This data is being sourced from inside each workbook on another tab and turned into a series of pivot tables (for each city) which provides the source for the charts. I did it like this because if I use pivot graphs I don't have to go through and individually change the data source range in the charts every time - because there are so many.
My problem is that when I refresh the pivot tables (to bring in the new data) the pivot charts 'chart type' resets. They should be represented in a Line - Column on 2 Axes chart and I have set this as the defult type but after refreshing it reverts to a basic column graph and I have to go through and change them all back manually. I made a macro that acts on a currently selected chart to change the format to make this process a bit faster:

Oct 23, 2006I am trying to figure out a way in excel to graph some data I have in a new, sophisticated type of chart. My data is new square foot sales divided by new square feet (for a retail store). It is a dollar amount. I also have this data as a percentage change year over year. If I want to compare two stores with different data -- what would be the best way to present it on a chart. Is there a way to show this on a 3-D plane so that both companies have the data in the same chart up against each other?

Sep 7, 2007I was just wondering if there was a way of changing the excel chart default so it doesn't always return a grey (or gray for those of you over the pond !) plot area every time I create a chart. It looks rank and wastes toner IMO.

Column A: Time in seconds (1,2,3,4,5.... so on) continuously in equal intervals.
Column B: Values Generated by my machine at each second (random values)
Column C: Values generated based on column B using a formula (Let formula be denoted by " F ").
Column D: Highest possible value of calculation on column B (With +ve error consideration in formula "F")
Column E: Least possible value of calculation on column B (With -ve error consideration in formula "F")
Two graphs need to be generated as follows:
Graph 1:
X Axis: time values ( From Column A )
Y Axis: Corresponding machine generated values from Column B
Graph 2: Envelope
X Axis: time values ( From Column A )
Y Axis: Both value of column D & E ( Time value 1 sec has two corresponding values, one from Column D and one from Column E)
Both values of Column D and E be plotted and the area between two lines generated by upper limit and lower limit (Column D and E respectively)
So for both, what chart types should I select, and how do I assign that particular column to that particular axis only.

problem is that the typechart - variable to identify the chosen chart type - is not being recognised. Here's the coding, the variable is not passed (in yellow bolded) from one procedure to another?

Gantt-type Chart With Quarterly Marks On The Date Axis?
May 22, 2014I'm using a stacked bar chart (in Excel 2010, running on Windows 7) to create a simple Gantt-type chart - with just four or five bars. I've got my chart looking most of the way I want it to, but one thing still eludes me: I'd like to set up the major axis ticks to be quarters of the year (from 1/1/2011 to 4/1/2013). Since quarters are not regular intervals (they are not exactly every 90 days), I can't do this using Excel's standard functionality for choosing axis tick marks.

Jan 26, 2009I have a macro that I found somewhere on the net to look within a folder and list all the files of a certain file extension.
The macro to do this is in the attached example and is called 'Get_File_Names_Within_Dir_ext'.
I have created a basic userform outline, 'UF1' for the user to define:
Select File Extension
Select Folder to Search
Destination Sheet
I just don't have any idea how to sync the two.
If you type 'exe' into 'TB1_File_Extension' of 'UF1' the macro should search for '*.exe' files within the specified folder.
The search folder 'RefEdit1' box should open a windows explorer box (or some such) so that the user can select the directory in which to search for the previously specified file extension.
'TB2_Destination_Sheet' is a text box for the user to type the sheet within the workbook in which to list the files found within the specified directory.
'CB1_Find_Files' should activate the macro to find any files for the specified criteria.
There is also a Button 'Find File Types' in Sheet1 of the file which should activate the userform 'UF1'.

I have three charts in my workbook. I want to attach a macro so that when the chart is clicked it returns to Sheet - Home. I have using the following:
worksheets("Home").activate. But after I protect each chart and the workbook, and save and exit. When I reload the Workbook it has forgotten the assigned macros and nothing happens.

Jul 25, 2007Col D has list of order #'s, starting in row 9. Col M is for COMMENTS about each order. Order #'s can appear in Col D more than once.
What I am looking for is a macro that will automatically detect if I have entered a new COMMENT in Col M, recognise the order # in adjacent Col D, and put my new comment in other cells in Col M if the SAME ORDER # is referenced in adjacent Col D.
Example:
worksheet starts with:
Col D Col M
1234 x
123 xyz
1234 zyx
4321 zyx
321 y
1234 yz
If I type the letter "Q" into Col M in a row adjacent to order # 1234, the result should be:
Col D Col M
1234 Q
123 xyz
1234 Q
4321 zyx
321 y
1234 Q
I think I would need to put this macro into a Worksheet Change event but beyond that I do not know what I need. UDF? Macro?

In the attached spreadsheet, I am looking to find a way that will automatically filter a group of records from the f column (all CC, all 2ndR, all NA) then calculate the information in in Columns G and H and place it in the appropriate box in D-21 through D 37. Macro To Compare Colors In Cell And Type Result
Feb 6, 2014Like u see in attachment i have products in cells wich are painted in different colors. I need to compare two numbers of different product, and write result to column "Type D,C,B". If one of two products is without color/white or they are not the same color then result is always "D", if both products/cells have same color and different number then results is "C", if the color and number is the same then result is "B"
Below cell B2 I will write numbers by hand, when I finish and start macro it will compare first cell B2 and B3 and write result to C3, then compare B3 and B4 and write result to C4 and do that until there is any number in column B:B.

Recursive Division Macro Mod Needed For Char Type
Nov 11, 2008I need a slight mod to the below code which works perfectly otherwise. What it does is it divides whatever is in column K by 30 and puts in its relative cell in column M( There a bunch of mini tables below each other with blank rows in between).
The thing is sometimes there are characters in column K like "N/A" for instance and the macro crashes since its only designed to take into account numerical and blank cells in column K.

I'm having a devil of a time finding the code I need to create parts of the chart. I've searched the web and this forum, but I must just not be asking the right things.
I can see everything I want to do in the format pop-up window when I right click on the charts in Excel, here is the path:
1) Format Minor Gridlines, Line Style, Dash Type, Rounded Dot
2) Format Axis, Axis Options, Major tick mark type, None
3) Format Axis, Axis Options, Position Axis, Between tick marks

ActiveChart.SeriesCollection(1).XValues = "='Pair Data'!R2C2:R24C2"
Instead of going to row 24 I want to go to row days+1 so I did the following:
ActiveChart.SeriesCollection(1).XValues = "='Pair Data'!R2C2:R"&days+1&"C2"
how I can fix it? It highlights the "C2" at the end and says Expected End of Statement.
Chart Scaling With Macro
Jul 11, 2006I have a spreadsheet with a massive amount of data in it.
I have this information displayed as a graph in the sheet "Chart2".
I want to be able to scroll my chart scale minimum and maximum to either side with buttons "Button1" and "Button2" located on that chart, and to be able to change the width of the graph by increasing or decreasing the chart scale maximum.
This may be a bit of a newbie question, but I haven't dealt with charts at all yet.
